Delightful quaint restaurant with very unusual and imaginative menu. Everything is cooked fresh from scratch so service can be slow but very friendly. The choice of drinks is also very varied with many local brews

None of the four of us had been to The Old Forge before, and were going due to recommendations from others. We thought it wonderful. The delightful waitress, the owner Cathy Roberts and her son Patrick, the chef, did us proud. The menu is innovative without being OTT, and the food delicious. The only reason we can't give it the full 5* is because, although we asked for the lamb to be served pink, it had "gone over". We did mention this, and Cathy apologised, saying it was her fault for leaving it too long in the pan whilst she attended elsewhere. All was forgiven, because it did taste superb.

An annual holiday "thank you" dinner funded by a charitable organization for unpaid volunteers. Cathy went out of her way to accommodate 18 of us in a space usually geared to tables for smaller numbers, but such an intimate and warm space, which we all really enjoyed being in. We were provide with an in-budget menu selection which catered for all taste prior to booking. Patrick's food was beautifully high tailored and sophisticated, and perfectly cooked, plus exceptionally well priced. All who attended said it was the best "volunteer annual dinner" that they had ever had. All said that they'd be back for family gatherings, dinners and hopefully for next year's annual event. Thank you The Forge, Storirngton's hidden gem.

Menu is creative, food is well presented and tasty . Restaurant is small with 20 or so covers over two rooms so makes for an intimate meal. I believe you can book the second room for a small group. Cathy is very knowledgable and always gives a very warm welcome . The chef comes out at the end of the evening to see guests - nice touch! Very reasonably priced for the experience and quality Local to us, and we look forward to the creative menu for 2023

What a hidden gem! A lovely warm and polite welcome. The menu is small enough to see everything is made to order and as our starters arrived it was evident not only is it made to order, but presented superbly and cooked to perfection. I had a sweetcorn bisque which was fantastic and the others in our group equally enjoyed theirs. For main I had a wonderfully cooked steak with again excellent accompaniments and presentation. We shared cheeseboards to finish and were blown away with superb port and fortified wines, making the excellent cheeses just sublime. Thank you, a great meal.

So glad we found this hidden gem of a restaurant! Patrick’s passion shines through in the wonderful and delicious dishes he creates. We are fairly new to the area and the Old Forge is now a regular haunt. My partner is gluten intolerant and this is one of the few places that provides an extensive choice for gluten free. And for those who are put off by gluten free don’t be; you honestly wouldn’t know here. The Old Forge brings a friendly homely ambience, high quality tasty food, great service and very good value for money. For foodies like us it is a real treat to dine here and we love that Patrick comes out at the end of service to chat. Highly recommended and would encourage anyone to give it a try.

We had the pleasure of lunching at the Old Forge in Storrington last week and found the food produced by Patrick Roberts to be excellent. We started our meal with fried polenta with pickled cherry tomatoes, Tamatillo jam and basil gel which I could have eaten as a main course as well as a starter! Excellent combination of taste and texture. We followed this with a seared fillet of whiting and lemon sole served in the Veronique style. The dessert was another success - fig frangipane with olive oil ice-cream. We had a wonderful bottle of Gavi to go with this. Thoroughly enjoyable lunch and well worth the visit. Extremely reasonably priced too.

I am a bit of self confessed foodie - so much so I got married in Jeremy's Restaurant, Borde Hill, Hayward's Heath. My Husband & I came here for lunch on Saturday 9th October 2021. We were extremely happy with the food that was served to us. It was original, refined, extremely delicious and good value - there is nothing not to like. We are looking forward to returning in early November, to try the Storrington Snails. Keep up the good work and thanks again.

I can't actually emphasize enough just how good the food here was. It was unusual, interesting, delicious, beautifully presented, so many great flavours. Noone in the party had a dish that wasn't fantastic. Yet the price is cheaper than most pub grub (around £12 for a main, £5 for a starter or dessert), and was so, so far away from pub grub! plus the atmosphere was wonderful, in a cute little old place, and the chef came out and was really lovely. And they went above and beyond to find something for kids, too, which wasn't even on the menu! The waitresses were fantastic too, and extremely friendly and helpful.

Patrick has made a lovely, high quality lunch restaurant here, serving interesting, delicious food I'd call traditional meets fusion. I've been twice, first with friends then hubby and both times lovely, with fantastic wines to accompany; cozy atmosphere in historic part of Storrington (COVID safe with two areas and all protocols in place).

I was passing through Storrington with the family and was looking to find a good spot for lunch. It was just my luck that the first place I came across was the Old Forge - we were treated to an excellent meal in a very welcoming environment. I will be sure to return for their fried chicken joint next time I'm in town!

Exceptional dishes, ambiance, and staff. They should be charging two or three times the price as well. Every time I go, I'm tempted to come back until I've tried everything on the menu. Definitely worth a trip from London.

A great “experience” , authentically Italian, attentive hosts , beautiful food, fabulous Prosecco . Our meal was a little slow so the only thing may have been some bread and oil to nibble while we waited, this would have made our experience 10/10 because when the food did come out every aspect of it was freshly prepared and perfectly delicious! Well done ⭐️

Free entry to explore the marvellous gardens at Leonardslee when booking the Ultimate experience. A thorough wine tasting, brilliantly conducted by 'Simba', a true credit to his profession as a sommelier. Fabulous wines and that Sabre moment when the cork is 'popped', my friend did this with such distinction. An excellent, delicious Afternoon Tea followed, nothing waste much of a problem, photo opportunity, carrot cake a welcome extra but 'Simba' created the icing on the cake. Fantastic experience.
