A pub with good food selection and very large portions! Helpful staff. The inside bar (with dog) is one of two locations the other being slightly more restaurant style. Extensive menu. Basic fading furnishings and toilets that need refurbishing. Go for the food. Suitable for families. Parking on site.

Brilliant food, great service, complete value for money. Staff were great, very accommodating and friendly. We felt comfortable and loved the food. Portions were big but worth the effort!

Really friendly - and efficient - staff, and the food was excellent too. We had 3 courses for £20 (set menu for Sunday lunch) and we all enjoyed every dish we had chosen. Definitely to be recommended.

We booked late as a last minute decision. The restaurant team were expecting us and welcomed us. Service was friendly prompt and the menu choices really good. Plenty of options with a few more interesting dishes to your usual pub type food. Duck. A chicken and ham pie. Beef strips. Cajun chicken. Chicken masala. I had Seabass with noodles. Very tasty.

We booked a family birthday meal for six today and as usual the food was great and the bar and serving staff couldn't do enough for us, we enjoyed it so much we decided not to go into town so stayed and watched the football on the huge screen a brilliant day out i couldn't recommend this pub more.

So glad I found this place, was staying nearby on a work trip and was desperate for a decent meal. Found this place on Tripadvisor and I’ve just finished my second meal here in 2 days! Customer service is fantastic, decor is lovely and the food is honestly perfect! I can’t wait to come back next week!

We came here for a family get together. We had a comfortable table and service was prompt and excellent. The food was good, the menu wide enough to suit all tastes. We will definitely be back.

Recently went for Sunday lunch the atmosphere and service was very good and starter was very nice however when the main arrived on one of our main courses a black beetle had crawled out from under the veg which was disgusting, we immediately showed staff who apologised and changed the meal immediately, however this was off putting as throughout meal We were constantly looking for more beetles. On mentioning it to staff on paying no offer was made and only apologies were given. It was off putting and knocked our confidence in the hygiene of the venue.

Absolutely Brilliant! Booked a table for 12 friends to celebrate a birthday! Person on the phone was really polite and helpful! Asked for a £10deposit pp and a Pre Order sheet & emailed a copy of the menu too! Turned up on the night and the service was 10/10 All food was amazing and nothing was to much trouble. Staff were around if you needed them but didn’t hover. Already planning the next meal as it was that good! Staff should be proud of the service they provide!

Another great night at the Old farmhouse football on the big screen, great atmosphere and brilliant beers. We didn't eat as it was a last minute decision but have before and the food and service were excellent.

Met up with friends to remember a beutiful lady who had passed away, and would of been her birthday, with memories and laughter to celebrate her life. The food we pre -ordered was delicious, as always, never been let down from here and look forward to going again soon.

Went along to The Old Farmhouse for Sunday lunch today. It was excellent! I had cream of vegetable soup, which was beautifully seasoned, and served with a warm baguette, followed by slow roasted brisket, mashed and roast potatoes, fresh veggies, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Hubby had salt and pepper belly pork bites to start, and an amazing plateful of gammon, Cumberland sausage, mushrooms, tomato,chips and 2 perfectly fried eggs Neither of us could manage a dessert as the portions were very generous. It was busy, but this didn't spoil the efficient and friendly service. Well worth a visit.

We went to the Old Farmhouse for Sunday lunch at 4pm today with our kids and there Grandma. We haven't eaten there for years, since before lockdown. We used to take the kids there regularly when they were growing up but this as tailed off. We had 4 dinners from the main menu (fish and chips - nice/seabass and noodles - which was really tasty & haloumi and cajun fries - also tasty though the cajun fries could have done with the spices being cooked in more). Wine - nice, coffee - nice, deserts - lovely. The issue was with the roast chicken dinner - which was so poor that, for the very 1st time in my life, I had to send back. The Yorkshire pud was overcooked and grainy, the chicken was dry and the roast pots were reheated and rubbery. The gravy, mash and veg were ok but not enough to save the meal. It was busy so the standard lunch service might have suffered. This I could understand - but there is no real excuse for the lack of understanding from the 'we've served lots of dinners before and not had any issues' staff. Which, instead of noting that there was an issue with the quality of that one plate - left a bad taste in all of our mouths. The pub is only less than 5 mins from us and holds many memories of our children growing up and eating in their highchairs but, unfortunately, we won't be eating there again.

Took our family for a Xmas get together 20 of us we pre ordered 2 weeks before but some had ordered off old menu and manager said had tried to get in touch with me with out success I have a answer machine but no message from her So on the night we had to reorder Waited 1 hr 20 mins before starters came out The duck was tuff could hardly eat it when mentioning this AMY MANAGER SAID IL tell the chef mine came out 2 big chunks not sliced One meal was cold had to be sent back She told me it was sliced I can assure you it wasn’t I have been to see manager today who i might add is very obnoxious and needs a few lessons in customer care her attitude stinks right from when I booked in oct She stated she asked was everything ok and the party said ok as they didn’t want to upset us after taking them all out We booked room for twenty in oct but she said if a party of more than twenty booked after us we had booked we would be moved out of the private room to accommodate them If we hadn’t paid a deposit of £400 we would have walked out I could go on and on about her attitude she shouldn’t be in the job we spent over £800 that night and her reply was what do you expect there was 20 of you Needless to say we won’t be going again she spoke to me if I was a bit of a kid not a 75 year old The only thing good was the table was set out like a horse shoe so everyone could speak to each other Didn’t even offer me a glass of water today while I was waiting for her to speak to Or a small discount for the long wait and mix up with pre orders I must add we went in oct 16 of us and couldn’t fault it Never again setting foot in there she’s to miserable

Arrived a very large party of 20 for a Xmas family meal. NEVER AGAIN!! Told as we arrived that the menu we ordered from had changed and that neatly everything we pre ordered had changed. The rude manager with an attitude said she tried 3 times to contact us about this yet no message was left AND the original menu is still up on their website. Starters eventually came 45 mins later which were spicy but reasonably ok. Mains came 3 had duck with was very tough and not really edible and I had steak pot with half rice and chips which was nice but only got 4 chips. Veg was served for those who chose it , which was quite unusual to be served mainly sprouts and nothing else. Desserts were the best part of the meal. Service from the rest of the staff was good. Told staff at end of night dick was tough. (Even spoke to someone from another party who agreed) wouldn’t advise anyone to arrange a large party to dine here as you might get a different menu to start and rude manager to attend to you.

Great food, great selection of beers, great service from the staff, i would not hesitate to recommend the Old Farmhouse Ulverston.

Staff were good. My wife enjoyed the meatballs. However I ordered the buttermilk chicken burger and it was awful. Chips are not good. Warm at best. Coating on the chicken was burnt. It was soggy so couldn’t pick it up. No side salad or anything. We ordered a side of onion rings and ate about 3 of them between us. They were overdone and tasted of feet. It was the worst meal I have eaten in a long time. Did not mention any of this to staff as no one came to ask us how everything was. It’s a shame because it is in a good area. We won’t be going back.

Came here for mine and my friends meal for our birthdays herd the bar manager and staff talking about us at the bar saying we need to hurry up our food even though they made us wait 30 minutes to place our order. Wont be coming again worst experience in a restaurant Iv ever had do not recommend!!

Delicious home cooked food a tad pricey. I was surprised to see the place so quiet but I suppose it is out of town, the only bad quality really it needed a bit more of an atmosphere. The staff were polite, attentive and really friendly. We were here for a weeks holiday and visited twice it was so nice.

3 times we have been back here from Sunderland and 3 times the food, staff and hospitality have been first class, lovely presented food and large portions, we will definitely be back

Be aware there’s no kids portions, and the portions are generous even for adults, so the little ones will be stuffed to the gunwales! But it’s a nice atmosphere, pet friendly & delicious food. Will definitely be coming back.

The pub was very busy as it was Sunday and a lovely day.Consequently we waited a while for the drink order to be taken and it was over an hour before we got out meal. But we didn't mind, my friend and I hadn't met for a bit so we were having a good catch-up.My chicken roast dinner was nice, not quite as hot as I would like and the frozen veg tasted bland but on the whole I was content. My friend's burger was clearly overcooked but she didn't want to complain.I chose the apple tarte tatin for dessert. The description said with toffee sauce but the tarte was drenched in it. And I think it was maple syrup which is very sweet I could barely taste the sharpness of the apples.So overall not too impressed, would go again but the Sunday lunches in town I've had have been superior.

Honestamente, se merece una medalla, era encantadora a pesar de lo obviamente bajo presión que estaba. Un mérito absoluto para el lugar. No recibí su nombre, pero cabello oscuro y lentes.Comida comida típica de pub, 2 platos para 12 una buena oferta, la comida era agradable.La cocina se ordenó mal, pero pronto se solucionó sin problemas.En general, vale la pena intentarlo, pero sin duda necesita más personal antes de que la muchacha fracase.

Llegó sin haber reservado mesa. Rápidamente el personal encontró una mesa para nosotros. Tenía entrantes de champiñones y luego cena de cordero asado. Que llegó rápido. Mucho en el plato gran cantidad de verduras diferentes. También un gran pub de Yorkshire. Delicioso servido caliente con salsa extra. Personal muy amable. Excelente calidad y relación calidad-precio. El restaurante ha tenido alfombras nuevas y recién pintado. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

Estábamos cerca, así que decidimos pasar a tomar una copa antes de ir a la ciudad a cenar. Agradable y acogedor pub tradicional. En nuestra segunda noche decidimos cenar aquí en lugar de caminar a la ciudad, valió la pena. Tuve el solomillo que era de muy buena calidad y mi compañero tenía el pescado y patatas fritas, que era enorme. Cometimos el error de tener un entrante y estábamos llenos al final de la comida. Lo recomiendo totalmente, muy buena comida, a un precio razonable y el personal fue muy amable.

Pasamos el fin de semana en Ulverston y este fue uno de los peores lugares donde comimos. La comida era muy sosa, las porciones eran enormes pero no muy buenas cuando la comida no tomaba mucho. Muy caro teniendo en cuenta el precio de la comida. Lugares mucho mejores para comer

We had to pre-book obviously for such a large party, but we were all very happy with the service and the food. I had the 'award winning' Cumberland Pie, which was amazingly good and very tasty. The bar area also has a number of TV's and a pool table but no cues to play the game with!! For this reason they have lost one star in the overall rating.

Spotted pub after driving along coast road. £10 for two course lunch with decent choice. Had the carbonara which was excellent and plentiful. Poached pear and forest fruits crumble was great. Will definitely return when we come back to the lakes later in year

A pesar de estar extremadamente ocupado, el personal logró acomodar a los 6 en el bar debido a que el restaurante estaba completamente lleno. Todo el servicio considerado fue muy bueno y la comida excelente. Para ser sincero, a pesar de todos nosotros, incluidos los nietos, siendo grandes comedores, todos luchamos por terminar el plato muy grande lleno de comida. Definitivamente, algún lugar que desee visitar si se encuentra en el área de Ulverston y necesita una buena comida.

Visité el restaurante aquí después de un día fuera de Newcastle. El servicio era bueno y nos recibieron calurosamente y nos llevaron a una mesa a su debido tiempo. La comida no era tan buena dejándome dejar mi hamburguesa. Queso y tocino encima de la mía y mis socios no era comestible. Mis aros de cebolla estaban casi cremados, así que tampoco pude comerlos. Un final decepcionante para nuestro día.

Restaurant was fully booked on a Saturday night but had a lovely meal in bar as it’s same menu , the hot & smoking burger was a large portion but good homemade burger , my husband had the Cumberland sausage & mash and couldn’t fault it , Staff were happy to recommend one of there local ales , food didn’t take long to arrive & staff friendly , will definitely return when in the area

We called in here for a meal earlier this week , the place was quiet, got a table no bother. The meal wasn’t bad, not the best l’ve had by any means, quite large portions.Staff were very pleasant. But boy does this place need some T.L.C very shabby decor, and the carpet was absolutely filthy. Needless to say we wouldn’t return.

Eaten here many times, whether in a large party or just for a couples night out & each time food has always been delicious.Always find the odd hiccup when a large party has been booked & pre orders of food given in - it's never right. But these things can't be helped.We were given the function room at the back so we were secluded & private which was perfect as we had a few small children in the party.Overall everyone enjoyed their meals & the service was good.

Qué hermoso almuerzo de domingo de 3 platos tuvimos hoy en The Old Farmhouse. La comida era absolutamente hermosa con muchas opciones para cada plato. Un montón de verduras frescas deliciosas y salsa extra fue una ventaja adicional. El personal era cálido y amable y nos hizo sentir bienvenidos tan pronto como entramos por la puerta. Spotanious visit for a quick drink but ended up eating. We had a steak each and they were cooked perfectly to our likening... service was friendly and the environment was relaxing... would recommend this for a great night out.

Called here for Sunday lunch. We booked as had previously always found it busy, was quieter than we expected. Friendly quick service full menu plus Sunday specials available, the latter at £11.95 for two courses. Full bar and a small wine list, reasonably priced. The prawn skewer and the mushrooms starter were both excellent, two of us had the chicken pot pie which was also very good, served with mash and loads of vegetables. Our third member had the cod loin and thoroughly enjoyed it, the apple fritter dessert was very good too. Three courses for one, two courses for two, bottle of wine and pint of coke (Pepsi) £58.90 so around £20 each. The roast beef looked good too.

Ordered food. Wasn't that busy and came in around 15-20 minutes. My order was wrong so sent back. Asked for BLT with no coleslaw as I can't have mayonnaise. When it came it was smothered in mayonnaise. When it finally arrived some 10 mins later, it was dry as a bone, hadn't even put any butter on it and there was less bacon than the first one. I think at over £7 for a small baguette with a portion of thin french fries (could have swore it said said chips on the menu) is way over the top for a pub.

We stopped here to have lunch, there was 9 of us and 2 dogs. Dogs are welcome in the bar area. We had the baguettes which were filling and tasty we would of returned if we had time

We had an impromptu visit to the Old Farmhouse In Ulverston for a Sunday roast. There were four people in our party and although we hadn’t booked on a Sunday afternoon at four o clock they enthusiastically fitted us in. Service was excellent and we were quickly seated and offered drinks. Our drinks a pint of Dunbar and Morretti were nicely chilled and 3/4 of us opted for the beef roast. The youngest of the party chose the cod goujons and stringy fries.
