A great local fish and chip shop. Love it.

The food is always good and freshly cooked and never just kept warm under the light's Update 4/10/24 unfortunately on this occasion the food was not up to the usual standard The chips were not hot and more like the scraps from the bottom of the pan the fish overcooked as the batter was hard and crispy and looked a lot darker

Used to be such a nice chippy but on today’s experience I will not be returning, chips where terrible hard scraps and fish was greasy and curry sauce was like a tub of water maybe I hit a bad day ??

Called in on our way to visit family, I was craving a good north east chippy & we weren't disappointed at all, tasty & fresh. The shop is nice & clean & the staff pleasant, plenty of customers coming and going having pre-ordered thier food. We will definitely call in again.

Lovely food and friendly service. Watch out it closes at 7pm and only accepts cash. They even serve haggis!

The food is great, always cooked to order, and the staff are excellent too. I first came in after seeing the sign from a passing bus and I've been a regular customer since. It's cash only but I don't mind that for a friendly independent local business.

Good old chippy, everything (besides the chips) is cooked fresh to order. They are always busy so the chips are always fresh too. Daily special offers. Kids meals. Old school pop. Very clean, which stands out the moment you step through the door. Best of all, the best chippy gravy I've ever had!

I've recently moved into the area so the hunt was on for a new favourite chippy. My search started last night and ends with The Old Chippy, Perkinsville. Chunky, white cod with light, crispy batter, perfectly cooked chips; and the best mushy peas I've tasted in a long time. Due to this and the friendly, banter-filled atmosphere with occasional comedic sing-along from the staff members, I will definitely be back for more.

Ordered 2 sausage & chips, a single sausage and kids cod bites and chips. Received 1 sausage & chips, 2 scampi and chips kids cod bites and chips???

Having waited for around 15 minutes for fish and chips to be cooked. I arrived at the till via a one way system set up for covid to be presented with a "cash only" sign. I thought cash was in its way out, especially due to it being a great covid spreader?? This meant I had to walk up the road to a local shop (10 minute round journey) to then have to pay to get my own cash out of an ATM. This hiked up the cost of the fish and chips along with the sheer inconvenience and increased risk of spreading covid. I understand there is a cost issue with having chip and pin for small business. However, many micro businesses such as market stall holder have them at 1% per transaction. Rather than the customer paying 20% per transaction by having to use the cash point up the street. However, the food was decent, especially after a long walk in the outdoors but unfortunately this was overshadowed by the inconvenience.

Fresh fish, cooked to order as it should be. Peas and curry are cracking too.

I can not comment on the food as I was unable to purchase any due to the fact they only accept cash and don't take card payments even though the government has been encouraging the public and business to stop using cash. I would of thought when you are handling food accepting cards would be better not to mention the amount of money people will be spending when your average fish & chips can be from £5 to £6 if not more we are in 2020 people need to keep up. As I said at the start I did not have any food so can't comment on it however I am sure it would of been very good the shop in clean and well presented.

Food is good, always cooked fresh and shop is very clean. the owner is very pleasant. Unfortunately one of the members of staff seems to have a bit of an attitude (maybe just with me)and sometimes only remembers what note you paid with when you ask for the correct change.

Enjoyed the fish and chips last time I visited. But really needs to accept card payments in this day and age.

A proper fish and chip shops! The staff are lovely and friendly, the place is super clean and all of it leads to some great food! Tried a few things from there, cod, haddock, sausages, chips, sauces etc all have been delicious and more some! They have special offers and even do delivery! We will be back! (Photos to follow =D)

My first visit. Very impressed with the layout and the quality of the chips I had. The gaffer is a Jarra lad, so it's in very good hands. Definitely worth a second visit. Friendly staff and very clean establishment.

Mint place the lass looked bloated though

They definitely need to cook the food for a bit longer here. The chips are often borderline and the fish a bit blond and soggy. Chips and batter both need to be cooked all the way through! Apart from that, the staff are nice and the premises absolutely spotless.

The fish and chips are ok, not the nicest I've ever had and make sure you ask for your fish well done otherwise it's soggy. The massive issue with this shop is the opening times because you never know when it will be open or closed like 20:15 on Friday night and you can't get fish and chips 😩😠
