This really is a lovely little coffee shop with friendly and welcoming staff. I had an Americano and a slice of apple pie with pouring cream. Looking around at other tables, all the portions seem to be substantial, offering great value for money. The home made apple pie was possibly the best I have ever tasted.

Stayed in the b&b for a local wedding, Karen and Dave were wonderful hosts even giving us a lift to pick our car up at the nearby venue the following day. The room was lovely with a very comfortable bed, the full English breakfast was superb and we had to go home with a box of home made cakes which were delicious. Would thoroughly recommend.

I stumbled on this little cafe by chance but will be returning. It is in a lovely area for cycling and set in a very quiet little village. I was offered to put my bike around the back as soon as I walked in. The cake was extremely good, the best Victoria sponge I've had and the coffee was nice. There is lots of space. The owner was really nice and I'll definitely be diverting my route to visit again

I used the B&B part of the Old Baker's Cottage when attending a conference at St. George's Park. It was very welcoming and friendly and although I turned up a bit late the owner was more than happy to be the perfect host. The room I was in had recently been refurbished (which I believe the whole B&B rooms had been) and was very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was a full English and freshly cooked and set me up for the day. Definitely will visit again. (Sorry it's taken me a while to write the review - this is more an indication of my organisation skills rather than the Old Baker's Cottage.

I needed somewhere to stay whilst on a short visit to the area , first time alone , second time with grandkids, I was a little apprehensive first visit , as I was alone and in an area I was unfamiliar with , well I have never felt more welcome and at ease , Karen & Dave are two of the most welcoming people I’ve ever met , I immediately felt at home , we have a great chat about the local area , which is stunning , I was shown to my room( the piano room ) , I had the family room , which I subsequently stayed in with my grandsons, it is utterly charming! Comfortable, full of character, comfy beds , en-suite, everything you could possibly need, slept well , and had to be up and out early , If was a beautiful day , and I was able to have coffee and toast outside in the beautiful garden , full breakfast is available, which looked delicious 😋, Dave was even kind enough to drop me off at my local destination! My grandsons absolutely adored the place , they gave it 10 out of five ! 🌟 the family room was absolutely perfect for us , large double , ample single, and a “ put me up “ which we did not need to use , Boys were made to feel so welcome , Like little adults , instead of “ a burden “ like some places , Karen was kind enough to give them both little treat each on arrival too , as the shop has ice cream 🍦, the breakfast room is a beautiful vintage tea shop , bursting with character, just adorable, Would definitely return so would the boys ! Made my long journey so much more bearable! Thanks Karen and Dave !

Walking into The Old Bakers Coffee Shop is like slipping into yourfavourite old slippers, or setting into your old armchair. The service that Bev and Gav provide is so welcoming that after you have had your beverage and gotten warmed up, you don't want to leave, you want to order again... The drinks menu is extensive enough to cover most tastes. No Starbucks here, but enough to keep a coffee drinker happy. Tea is there for those with a different palette. Indulgence is catered for too with a hot chocolate buried under marshmallows, covered in chocolate powder. The whole experience is completed with comfortable, relaxing leather sofas that seem to hold you and not want to release you. Also tables and chairs for those who want a quicker escape... The kids get to paint butter biscuit bears with edible icing sugar whilst drinking juice as mum and dad get to chill with the paper, use the WiFi, or catch up with friends. I use the coffee shop most Friday mornings after dropping my son at school and can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience in there. Next time you are passing drop in and get a good drink, given with great service, in a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Friends have visited me and used the B&B,and they have all said how good it is. No complaints from any of them, and a couple of them are, let's say, a little picky. Highly recommend this place to everyone.

This small cafe/restaurant is situated in the quiet village of Newborough, Burton-On-Trent, Staffordshire. We called in for coffee as a result of seeing the board advert on the main A515. What a wonderful surprise it was as well. A really truly lovely tea room serving all sorts of teas, coffees, snacks of all sorts. It has a lovely outside seating area and also offers a B&B on the premises. A true gem in our wonderful countryside. The lady running the shop was so inviting, kind and helpful. It is obvious that she is well liked by the locals who support her well. I was amazed as she gave me a loyalty card for future use to get a free cup of tea/coffee. Don't miss out on visiting the cafe if you are in the area. Thank you.

After reading all the great reviews I was very disappointed in this cafe. It has the potential but lacks a lot of qualities to warrant a return visit. We had travelled from Burton as a family and were hoping for that warm, cosy coffee shop experience. The initial greeting was disappointing and almost made to feel like we should have known where to sit / what to do regarding service. Their website suggests that younger visitors (children) are well catered for but they do not have a high-chair for toddlers. We decided to sit outside (a nice warm Mothers Day for a change). The garden area looked untidy with items piled up against the gates, not the sort of thing to create a relaxing coffee shop atmosphere. The cake selection was limited and nowhere near the choice listed on their website. This coffee shop might be ok for a quick coffee if you happen to be walking / cycling past but not worth going out of your way for.

Right in the centre of the picturesque village of Newborough is the Old Baker's Cottage, a bed and breakfast establishment, with an associated coffee shop. Inside is a range of seating, from comfortable sofas to more formal tables, including outdoor seating too. Not a huge place, so it probably fills quickly at weekends. It primarily sells drinks, hot and cold - cappuccinos, hot chocolates etc., and very tempting looking cakes, including apple pie and traditional cream teas. We both went for the Devil's Chocolate Cake, fantastically moreish, a moist cake, with a generous amount of chocolate cream, lovely. A good cup of coffee too, strong and flavoursome, without being too acrid. I was impressed, nothing complicated, just a comfortable place to take a break and relax.

We have just spent a very enjoyable stay at this little b and b which offers pretty quaint and comfortable accommodation. We were greeted by the host, Gav, who showed us where everything is, even where spare milk is kept if we need to top up what we have in the room to make our own drinks! The room was lovely and full of character. Breakfast was in the coffee shop, where we had the whole place to ourselves and could eat a lovely full english breakfast, with toast and cereals before it was open to the public. We never felt rushed to finish, instead we were welcome to sit in the pretty tea rooms garden, to ponder where to visit. Bev was very helpful and we enjoyed the Forrest walk recommended to us, and we also visited the very impressive St George's F.A. Complex just a few miles down the road. The village itself is very pretty and we also had a warm welcome in the pub across the road. This B & B make a nice change from the large immpersonal places where you are just a room number! Nothing seems to be too much trouble and and with a very friendly service, we were even offered the use of Bev, the hostess's iPad as we could not get a signal on our phones! As we had bought our own with us this was not necessary as they also gave us the code to have free wi-fi. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

My family and I went to stay here for a night after a cross country race nearby, and despite the fact we were caked in mud we were welcomed with open arms. The rooms were perfect and our every need was catered for; everything was provided: toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, shower gell, face soap you name it. There was even a basket full of emergency supplies from socks to luxury body cream you could use then pay for later. The cottage is particularly accommodating towards families, if there are more than 4 of you and struggling to find somewhere that fits your criteria then this is the place for you! The breakfast was top-notch, the coffee shop itself was fantastic an there was a lovely lounge area with a HUGE TV and magazines where you could chill out. We have visited heath house kitchen since it opened up...the family live round the corner from it. We have had birthday meals, christmas meals and themed nights there along with their general menu. Pie night is a regular attendance for us,tue first Wednesday of every month. Hand made pies, full to the top of whatever filling they have each month and they can be pastry or mash topped pies. This week I had chicken and peppercorn pie with hand cooked chips, roasted charred and buttered veg and an unctuous gravy Other pies eaten over many nights inc minted lamb, chicken and Stilton, baked ham anc cheese, steak and ale and the fish pie filled with cod, scallops and king prawns.. delicious is an understatement.
