Excellent night out extremely wonderful staff and service especially from Luc, Jack & Thomas our table is waiting for us every week and we are always greeted as friends not just customers. We have very friendly table service all evening which I don't think is in there job description but its greatly appreciated. If you havn't been I can strongly recommend. Liz

I’ve been going to the ash dene for years and everytime is a delight. I’ve been served by one of the staff called Lucas who works so hard and is always rushed off his feet helping staff and customers when he can. His customer service is beyond a 10/10 and will do anything for anyone. He has been a great help the past few time I’ve visited as I have a broken spine with crutches, he goes above and beyond to ensure I don’t struggle carrying drinks and always makes sure I am comfortable. Lucas is very friendly, he always serves with a smile on his face and loves getting to know customers whether thats having a laugh or getting to know their personal lives and never judges anyone. He never disappoints and is always so polite to every customer, he holds the doors open and welcomes every customer making them feel seen and heard from the moment they walk in. Lucas always puts customers first in every situation and occasion and makes every visit memorable. There has never been a bad experience at the dene and never had a bad service from lucas. The Ash Dene is lucky to have Lucas :)

Thanks to luke,Jack and Thomas who look after us on a Friday night. Making sure we don't run out of wine. Very friendly always have our table reserved for us. Couldn't ask for more.

Came in with my mate to play pool with a few drinks and it’s a great pub and will make sure we get food next time because it looked unreal Becca showed us the pizzas so we will try all of them !

Welcomed by the friendly staff when we entered the pub and shown to the table which we had reserved. Ordered drinks and food and received the food in good time, in spite of the pub being busy. Staff were all excellent and friendly and the food was good and plentiful. It is always a very pleasant experience to go with friends and The Old Ash Dene has become our most regular place to visit for a get together. Thank you to all invloved.

AMAZING!! The staff that was on were lovely. Always smiling and happy. They served our large party with one hiccup but it was very quickly changed with no hassle at all. They brought out the cake sang happy birthday and even brought plates out for us. No- where else allows that. We will be back 😁❤️

Popped in for a bite of eat with some friends and I must say this pub is fantastic! We even got the chance to meet the new managers and they are very friendly! Would highly recommend visiting! I will be back thank you for such a great visit!

Since a previous visit over 12 months ago, the food menu appears to have been drastically changed and slimmed in variety. This was really disappointing. Visiting on Mother’s Day, we knew it would be busy yet we waited over an hour for our food that had clearly been sat under a heat lamp for some time.

Our party of 18 had our Mothers Day lunch today, and we were not disappointed. Staff were so friendly and accommodating, and all our meals were lovely. We were comfortable and relaxed, would definitely recommend.

It was OK. I felt the drinks are a bit overpriced and the atmosphere wasn't great. You need some soft music or something on in the background

We called in for cheeky meal to be warmly welcomed the marvellous Luke and Jo. After being served a refreshing drink after a full day at work, Luke gave his recommendations from the menu. Our food arrived piping hot, full of flavour and was served with a smile. The wings were finger licking good, cheers guys.

I arrived with my friend at 7.15pm, as per my online booking on a Monday night, to have dinner. The service was quite slow, & it wasn't a particularly busy Monday night either. No staff came around to check on us to see how we liked our food. The food itself was good pub grub. It was a little inconvenient having to order at the bar, and pay at the bar. I imagine some customers could walk out without paying, because the staff behind the bar, didn't seem particularly aware of what was going on around the tables. I mentioned the lack of service, yet when I went to pay, the lady said it was £36.00 total. When I checked my bank account later, it looks as though I've been charged extra for service fee or a tip. (which I wouldn't have given in this case ordinarily, based on our experience)

We used the website to order drinks and food, drinks came, even gave us some hot water to make a bottle of formula for our daughter. then waited for an hour for our food, and when the food came it wasn’t ours. a table near us had been given our food and they gave us ours, then waited another twenty minutes for the correct food

Excellent service. Last minute dash for tea with the kids after being let down in other places. My youngest is very fussy with food, he had pizza and chips, absolutely polished it off and picked at everyone else’s aswell. My oldest has ASD and when we realised there was live music I expected him to struggle but he coped really well and enjoyed the music. Brilliant value for money as we all enjoyed the food, drinks and atmosphere. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Absolutely beautiful Sunday lunch. The size of the lunch was perfect. The beef was melt in the mouth and roast potatoes tasted homemade. Jonny who works in the kitchen make a fantastic Sunday lunch along with all the staff. The staff are so friendly and make you feel very welcome

Avoid the fish & chips, actually just avoid the pub. The table also ordered pizzas which arrived cold

My daughter is non-verbal autistic and struggles with new places and new environments. Old Ash Dene were brilliant in meeting her needs - offering to adapt menu choices for us etc. She really enjoyed the kids section with the screens so it will definitely now be a safe place that we choose to return to.

The food was good. Abit disappointed I couldn't tip with my card as the staff were brilliant so friendly & very attentive.

Even though it was very busy and we had to wait the staff were fantastic and our 6 meals and desserts were fantastic as well

Great food and value. Visited the Old Ash Dene for the first time today. The food was of a very good standard and very reasonable. The staff were outstanding and really care about the customers experience. I'd strongly recommend visiting, the new management are great but the staff and quality of food will definitely bring me back.

Decent priced, nice staff, always clean and tidy, food canny too

Came here recently with a friend to partake in the quiz night. We found the drink selection to be lacklustre and expensive, could definitely get cheaper elsewhere within a close proximity. The mains were fine, the selection wasn’t incredible but expectations weren’t high anyway. However, the dessert was not very nice (you could tell it had been in the fridge and recently microwaved) so I could not finish it, for £5.50 I was hoping for something better. The quiz itself was okay, it started late and felt very awkward, often waiting minutes in between questions. It was also hard to hear the quizmaster despite her microphone when asking the questions. The best part of my evening was playing some darts (something which I haven’t done in years!). So overall, I was left feeling rather disappointed as I had been told good things by other people.

Fresh cooked meal with an excellent choice of small/ large size portions.

This was our first time visiting since moving to the area and we were amazed at how lovely it was. The place was decorated nicely and was very welcoming. The staff were very friendly and made us feel comfortable. The food was very well priced and amazing quality, we were surprised that pub food could taste so good, it also arrived in very good time and was hot, we will definitely visit again and think it may be a regular place for us now

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently had the pleasure of trying Head Chef Jonny's fish finger sandwich at the Old Ash Dene, and I was absolutely blown away. The sandwich was a delightful fusion of crispy, perfectly golden fish fingers nestled between soft, freshly baked bread. The flavors were expertly balanced, with the tartar sauce adding a zesty kick that complemented the succulent fish. Chef Jonny's attention to detail and culinary expertise truly shone through in this dish. It's evident that he takes pride in every aspect of his creation, from the quality of the ingredients to the presentation. The Old Ash Dene has truly found a gem in Chef Jonny, and his fish finger sandwich is a testament to his skill and passion. I can't wait to return and indulge in this culinary masterpiece again. Kudos to Chef Jonny for creating a sandwich that's nothing short of exceptional!

Jonnys Sundays dinners are unreal like normal, can't wait to come back

Great food, and overall great Service from all staff mostly the young boy, Spencer who checked up on us multiple times throughout the meal and made us all feel welcomed would definitely recommend.

Visited pup a few weeks ago for a family festive meal, staff were very welcoming from as soon as I got in. We were served and looked after by a waiter called Spencer he brought all are food out and was extremely helpful, will be coming back.

Good experience, minor things could have made it great. Lovely, warm pub on a chilly day but the front door banging constantly wasn't great. Staff very friendly. Ordered and paid online, which was easy and very reasonably priced, even before the 30% discount code! Had a 25 min wait for our food but it was fairly busy and this wasn't a problem. Little bit disappointed that my favourite buffalo cauliflower salad wasn't available, so tried Thai veg curry which was was tasty, a bit too spicy but obviously this is just personal preference, would have preferred it a little milder as the flavour was overpowered. Husbands meaty pizza was very nice and a good size and side dishes were hot and generous. Drinks were excellent. Kids playing pool were very loud and spoilt our conversation a little but overall we enjoyed our visit and will be back.

Called in for a quick meal in between Christmas and new year.we were pleasantly greeted when ordering food and although the pub wasn't busy it was still warm and cosy.It seemed very clean and the staff were quick to clear and clean any used tables.the food was fine and my fish and chips were particularly tasty.Would definitely return.

Staff were lovely and friendly. We visited when pub was very busy, lots of tables reserved, one we asked about was reserved 3/4 of an hour after our arival, the booking hadn't shown by the time we left, which was a shame as we could have had a bigger table away from the noise. Food was good for the price & we didn't have to wait too long even though it was extremely busy. The only thing that let it down was not the pubs fault, there were screaming children in the play area, arguing and shouting. Another table had vacated so we moved, unfortunately some of the children thought it was OK to come and start trying to get out of the firedoor directly behind us & when it didn't work they started banging on it, they then went outside and started banging on the outside trying to open it. It was a cold evening and the glass firedoor was directly behind my seat. I'm not sure what the children were playing at, but they didn't need to use that door at all. Parents paid no attention. As I say, not the staff or establishments fault as they were extremely friendly, the place looked nice and the food was decent for the price. I was told the garlic doughballs were the best my husband had tried & the fish was moby dick sized.

We walked in, got a table, looked around, the wall next to the table was very dirty, (table no 22 , as far as recall) near the main door, looked like someone had thrown some food at it, not a good start (See photos) But the rest of the restaurant looked in good order, and clean. Anyway, decided on the prawn cocktail and the dough balls for starters, (see photos) the prawn cocktail, was so small, came in this tiny little wee glass, wish I had ordered two of them. The dough balls, well they're ok, but not very cheesy, just doughy. We both ordered the chicken club sandwich as a main, oh no, I thought things couldn't get any worse, but it did. The bread was white bread (We both really wanted the brown, ok, my fault for forgetting to tell the server, but then I think we should have been asked aswell) Anyway, the bread should be lightly toasted for a club sandwich, but this was like eating dry crackers! Toasted all the way through, brittle as my bones! So dry that it just broke up, as you were trying to eat it. Not much mayo or anything on it, even a little tomato on it would have help with eating the crackers! We didn't even get asked if everything was ok, as you normally do at any other establishment. So, verdict-place is a little dirty, staff not attentive, food portion size needs to be looked at, and the quality of basic food ie brittle bone toast, needs to be looked at.

Breakfast with Santa at the Old Ash Dene never disappoints! A truly magical experience for children and adults! The staff go above and beyond to make a special morning for all🎅🏼🎄

Excellent place for a few drinks. Not overly expensive. I got a mixed grill. Everything was perfect apart from the chicken! It was cooked through but looked like it had been boiled, not grilled. My friend got a burger and it looked spot on. He said it was nice as well. Apart from that, service was spot on. Pool table £1.50

A party was organized with staff over a week ago. I also brought in cake, banner and candles so the reserved area could be decorated for the birthday surprise. To my dismay, the banner was still in the back and nothing was prepared. It was just like going out for another lunch. The gentleman came out with it and threw it onto the middle of the table. There you go! No blutak to put up the banner. Really!!! We had our meals which were very nice. The plates were sat there while we chatted. I had to go and ask for the cake to be brought out. When they did bring the cake out the plates were still there. Not the experience I wanted for my son and husband's joint birthday. We won't be back for a long while

We regularly go to the Old Ash Dene for meals and have not been disappointed yet, having tried both the festive and normal menu, there is alot of choice. The kids menu ais good to and the children enjoy the meals.

We both had pies and chips. I had steak and ale, wife had chicken and mushroom. Both pies were great, chips were superb. My gravy was lumpy, but I can forgive that because I really enjoyed the rest. Staff were very good. The only thing that I marked this pub down for was that the car park was iced over, but no salt put down. It was very tricky walking to the front door.

Received 30% off voucher through door so thought we book for lunch as we hadn’t been for a few years. Booked a table for 6 family members. My husband went to the bar to order 4 main meals which included 3 festive burger meals from the Xmas menu along with one lasagna from the regular menu and handed over the 30% off voucher. At no point was it mentioned that the festive burger meals were excluded from the 30% off offer otherwise we would have just ordered the burgers from the regular menu. Our total order for the 4 meals and 4 drinks (3 soft drinks and one larger) came to £73.66 My husband was not handed a receipt so never really thought anything of it until the next day. Working it out we had not been given the 30% off all the meals and looked like we had paid more than advertised. I emailed the pub to ask if they could check as the festive burger meals were advertised at £12.99 on the table menu. I received a reply back saying they had found our transaction and we had been charged the till price of £15.99 per burger meal and not what was advertised on the table menus (12.99) also informed that the 30% off voucher excluded the festive menu and that they had collected in all of the incorrect menus!! No apology or refund was offered! Only offered another 30% off voucher! Sadly we were very disappointed and won’t be returning in a hurry

The food was absolutely incredible, the best meal we have had in a long while. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff weee very friendly.

First time today ,the food was good, mixed grill and Beef lasagna 😋 both were very nice hot tasty 😋 and good portion size and prices were excellent 👌 I will be going back for more

Excellent service by the friendly staff. A lovely welcome and very quick to serve us. Ordering the food was simple and easy. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food was delicious. Was very busy hence we had a table for two near the entrance door which was not great as every time the door was opened we were hit with the coldness from outside. Next time will wait until a better table becomes available. Love the atmosphere of the place and would’nt hesitate to recommend it. We have even booked our Christmas night out there.

Been a while since I last visited here, but from what I remember, the food was very good, the service was quick and friendly, and the place wasn't too busy for a Tuesday lunchtime.

We went for tea at this local pub the food was good it was going to be over priced but we used the discount to vouchers to get money off. The service was slow the staff were all playing in the fruit machine and left us waiting to order

We had a lovely experience, it was my husbands birthday and we wanted a nice quite meal. That is exactly what we got, it was busy enough to get the atmosphere but not noisy. The staff were all lovely and the meals were very good. I would definitely recommend. Also with the 30% off voucher it was exceptional value for money. We will definitely be back soon.

My daughter and I have visited The Old Ash Dene on numerous occasions since once we moved up here 3 years ago. I have tasted their Sunday dinner before and it tasted a bit “plastic” to be honest BUT on Sunday it was absolutely delicious!! There was lots of flavoursome gravy, the roast potatoes tasted like they had been cooked in beef dripping 😋 I would definitely give it a 10/10. We will be eating here again especially on a Sunday 🥰

Last minute booking, friendly staff and good food, only slight thing was garden peas a bit hard but to be honest, probably wouldn't have eaten many anyway. Scampi perfect, lasagne very nice and some of the best pub chips I've had in a long time.

One of our locals and always our go to either as a couple with friends or with our little one. Food is always top notch and very generous portion sizea. The children's menu has lots of choice and is very reasonably priced. The staff are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble and they actually look like they enjoy being at work which adds to the lovely atmosphere.

Always a good meal at the old ash dene, the kids love the machines and the park and I have mobility issues so it's easily accessible for me although you could do with some more disabled parking spaces as the two are always full. Meals good quality and tasty
