Dolly Dimples in Northumberland

Galentine event got cancelled, but they couldn't even be arsed to message saying that it had been. Reading the recent reviews looks we had a lucky escape. Ended up having food and cocktails at the Olive tree which was lush!

Very slow with fish and chips ,chips looked Burnt I have vegetarian Breakfast was all Dried up coffee machine not working ,so had small cup of Tea spent 25 pounds not worth the money woint be going back not much choice for vegetarians they had big cakes on show no covers over

Staff are very under trained, basic request of receipts for foods bought, when ordering a sandwich that is advertised with a salad, the sandwich was presented with out a salad and when asked for the salad the response was of surprise that we wanted the salad that was offered on the menu. Staff were also less than polite, being told to just sit down when waiting for the food, normally the request would be would you like to take a seat….

Lovely Sunday carvery today, reasonable prices and fabulous service.

Called in here for lunch. We walked in and were told to sit at any table. There was a bloke talking loudly on his mobile phone when we walked in, as well as music playing , so it was noisy. Thankfully the bloke ended his conversation…but not for long! We looked at the menu, decided on our food….and sat…and waited….and l couldn’t help but hear the annoying bloke on his mobile make about another 4 phone calls. It was at this point we contemplated leaving. No service and it was far from relaxing, listening to some random bloke natter constantly on his phone. The majority of the cafe would hear every word he was saying ! Eventually, a good while later the young waitress came over and asked what drinks we would like. TBF , She did apologise for our wait. We ordered drinks and waited another 5-10 minutes. She placed our drinks down and then we said we would like to order food. At this point She said they only had carvery, nothing else, no kids meals, nothing….. We said we would just have our drinks and find somewhere else that served food. Why have the menus out, if there is no food choices available? Why were we not told about the food situation, when She took our drinks order? Customer service was disappointing! Menu choice was terrible! Environment was awful, I felt like I was sitting in a noisy office, with someone constantly talking loudly on their phone and the loud background music! We won’t be back!

since Dollys deleted my review on there FB page, im leaving it on here..... meat was so tough it couldnt be chewed and most if the veg was hard. The serving staff were just kids and didnt have a clue.

This was not a good experience. Got told it was under new management so called in for a coffee. I asked for a decaf coffee and paid £3.50 which is what you would pay in Newcastle for a good cup and expected it to come out the machine they had. The staff proceeded to put a sachet of instant coffee in the mug and I doubt it was even decaf going off the sachet and they were unsure too. So just like a previous review--not nice. There is much better cafe's in Blyth than this and I certainly won't be going back.

Terrible, new management hasn’t got a clue! Cold food and coffee is shocking at £3.50 for a tasteless cup of hot water. Better places in Blyth.

We visited on Saturday night 25/11 andall 4 of us decided on the fillet steak (medium) it was absolutely delicious, faultless. The soup starter was lovely too. Service was great. Hight recommended and we will be back soon! Thank you for a lovely evening!

Absolutely gorgeous food had a starter and ribeye as main outstanding ...great value

Went for Sunday carvery. Was dreadful, burnt Yorkshire puddings, I mean they were black. Tiniest piece of meat, roasters were just a pile if mush. The gravy was watered down that much there was no taste. Poor selection. Then there was the staff who were so miserable, not a friendly face among them. Maybe I hit on a bad day but rest assured me and my family will not be going back.

Well where do i start ,we went last sunday ,its a sunday carvery clearly there was no manager in charge as some staff didnt know what they were doing ,we walked in and we just stood at doorway nobody came over to greet us so after few mins we sat down on a table still nobody came over so we thought we will just help ourselves then ...a measily 2 thin slices of meat 1 overcooked yorkshire pudd and veg is veg bascially but gravy was very watery....ordered drink with my meal and that didnt arrive but my partners did ...this place could do well but defo needs team leaders to tell staff what to do ...another person complained saying she booked a table for 6 people ? And was told we dont take bookings ? Seemed abit awkward....and to top it off a young staff member sent over too morrisons for cans of pop ,just looked totally unorganised...dont think I'd return maybe through the week but defo not on a sunday its too much carnage for me !!!!

Unsatisfied with breakfast and coffees. Mushrooms were like leather, very over cooked. Toast was solid and no butter. Coffee tasted horrible and had no flavours available ie. Caramel, vanilla ect. Overall very bland.

This has to be the worst food and service we have ever had.The garlic bread was raw uncooked and very nearly inedible, warm salad and a very undercooked baked potato ,and the service was unexceptable I will never go back maybe we should of gone to McDonald's instead.

Please Read ….Absolutely Disgusting. I know this establishment has new owners so for the positive ….from the outside it looks pleasant. Then I stepped inside to what looks like an American diner/cafe….. Negatives. I took the family for Sunday lunch which was a self serve. At 1pm there was No mash …. Parsnips tasted like vinegar like they were off …. No turnip …. Roast potatoes cold and no Yorkshire puddings. Oh and they ran out of beef too. …..went to sit down with our plates to find there were No knives and forks had to wait 5 mins for them to wash some …. Lunch was now cold ….just as we began to eat the waitress shot over to ask how we were going to pay I advised card which she promptly produced the machine. I advised I am in the process of trying to eat my meal to be told you have to pay before you eat …. Now I know why …. Never have I tasted anything so rotten …. And I love my food. I’m not a fussy eater but wouldn’t go here if it was for free. Some people got up and walked out others stood in a queue waiting for them to cook more food. Never been compelled to write a review before to warn others. Not a great experience.

Visited for afternoon tea with friends. When we arrived not all the party was there but the male waiter wanted to bring the tea that accompanied the afternoon tea. Then he asked when we were all there whether we were ready to be served , I explained we hadn’t chosen what we would like to which we were told that there is no choice it is a set menu. We had a member of our party who is vegetarian and I explained this to which he replied ‘you should have told us in advance!’ When the food arrived it was delicious and very good value for money. When we come to pay the bill said male waiter needed 3 attempts to get the cost correct as couldn’t work the bill out minus the deposit we had paid. I would love to say I would return as the food really was delicious and we have never had a bad meal here before but unfortunately due to the bad attitude and terrible customer service from the male waiter I doubt I will return anytime soon.

What a great place. Clean, tidy, atmosphere was lovely. Plenty room to move around in. Choice of food was excellent and servings were plentiful. Not rushed by staff, who were excellent. Definitely go back.

Lovely place no matter what you're after.....cuppa and cake or full meals. The duck bao buns are amazing as are the cheese scones. Lovely staff and nice buzzing atmosphere.

First visit for a quick lunch. Ordered the soup and sandwich, soup was lovely and generous sized sandwich. Had a small problem with my lunch which the staff were lovely about and it was resolved really quickly. Will definitely return for the nice food and good service

Went for breakfast with the wife the place is absolutely perfect. The atmosphere, staff,quality of food is fantastic. So friendly and food suck good quality definitely will be back for More soon.

Nice and convenient drop in cafeteria.

A really nice quiet cafe, even when it's busy. I went on my own and plan to go back. Would be a great place to sit with a laptop or tablet if you need to have a change of scenery and you're working. Was nice to have a really yummy lunch and sit with my phone doing a bit of work.

Two of us went for lunch, I had the baguette hot beef with chunky chips, it was delicious with plenty gravy in the baguette with extra gravy in a pot served separately, the chips were absolutely superb. My partner had the Chicken burger and changed the chips to chunky chips. Again, I was informed it was delicious and both dishes were plentiful. Definitely going back.

Breakfast was dry poorly cooked assumed everything had been reheated would not recommend

Lovely looking cafe, took awhile for food... only sandwiches served with soup of the day (lentil) and they wouldnt swap soup or let me have just sandwich. Ordered panini which was just a warmed up ciabata and cheese wasnt melted. Staff were visable but didnt really pay attention to customers. Not overly impressed

We were a large family of 12 and we were there for Afternoon tea which was all set up. We had a couple of cocktails which are reasonably priced and then 6 cake stands full to the brim with sandwiches, scones and cakes. What we couldn’t eat we took home. The staff were attentive and friendly. We will be back to sample some of the other delicious food on the menu 🥰 we’d already started to tuck into the sarneys when pictures were taken.

Fantastic food, fantastic staff and great vibes - I do wish the did black pudding as an add on for the breakfast, however still 5* quality 🙂 Be back again for sure!

Very dissapointing. Cafe busy, and on entering we were TOLD to sit at the table beside the door. The main entrance/exit door. We said it was too draughty can we sit here in the corner. No, i have clearing up to do and table cleaning before i can prepare this table. Dissgusting customer service, so pathetic and off the cuff, a couldnt care attitude. Will i recomend NO. Will i be back..doubtfull.

We called into this cafe for lunch and we all decided to have the dirty fries Christmas dinner, with a pot of tea each, when it came we tucked in but to say that this had turkey and stuffing was a utter joke as we had to hunt for the ingredients amongst the pile of which were covered in cheese and sitting in a weak gravy non of us found any stuffing or crispy onions and it came with a pot of what was supposed to be garlic sauce but it was more mayonnaise with vinegar. The tea was weak even after letting it stand.We were all very disappointed with this weird offering and would advise anyone to avoid it. We won't be back. This so called meal was not cheap either.

Found on Google so popped in for Breakfast before driving home to Essex. The food was delicious, the staff were lovely and friendly and the service was speedy. A very lovely spot! The decor was amazing ❤️

Disappointed today. Visited with a friend wanting to order coffee & cake, only to be told they don't do cakes. I then went to order soup of the day, to be told 'because only one chef is in, they won't be serving soup'. For a Sunday it wasn't busy. But we dare ask what was available to order. We just had our coffee and left.

Abrupt/awkward/inexperienced staff serving with customer service skills severely lacking. Two out of six meals had a hair in them, the meals were taken away and we weren’t charged for them, however, we are still waiting for an apology yet. Not a pleasant atmosphere or experience,...

i went here with my grandaughter yesterday as a treat, what a let down ! this is a small cafe trying to deliver restaurant quality up market food but failing miserably ! terrible small choice on menu, great if you prefer poor quality japanese style...

Terrible service, I ordered off just eat, and it was never delivered :/ when I finally got through to dolly’s I was told there was nothing they could do and I’d have to sort it myself with just eat as they don’t know their delivery drivers, would never come here again.

I was having lunch next door with 5 other family members and we had to leave because of the repulsive food and walked next door into dolly dimples . All I can say is wow‼️ we were met by very attentive staff the place was clean and very well presented and as for the food double wow‼️ we ordered a goats cheese and roasted peppers on a warm fresh panini with came with a beautiful salad and potato skins. A hot beef panini which came with a small pan of jus and chips and also a vegetarian meatball one which also came with salad and potato skins. They also had green tea and a beautiful selection of different to the norm soft drinks . It was all presented so well and the taste was amazing. I will never eat anywhere again in blyth except here . I highly recommend it it is a little more expensive than other places but you cannot ask for more exceptional food

I was looking forward to lunch at Dolly Dimples as I have always enjoyed a lovely meal. Unfortunately today wasn't up to the usual high standards. I was disappointed with the menu and found there to be limited choice compared to previous visits. The chicken in the bun comprised of two chicken goujons and the skin on fries were dry and tasteless. At no point was I asked how my meal was, not even when the waitress took an almost full plate away. The music was annoyingly loud, it should be for background noise only.

We sat down and waited ages for the waitress to come over when she did she had a horrible attitude very grumpy didn't smile once when we changed tables she was banging and clashing the cups and plates she was taking away on purpose

Why oh why are we not allowed to sit in the stalls anymore? This used to be our favourite cafe but we don't feel welcome anymore.

Mother's Day lunch, we arrived a few mins before our booking and we were refused entry and told to wait outside in the cold until our table was ready. We ordered 3 beef Sunday dinners and 1 afternoon, only to be told the afternoon tea needed pre-booking which we were not made aware of. So it was 4 beef Sunday dinners, only to be told there was no beef as the first sitting ate it all !! So turkey it was, 50 mins later we finally got our food. We spent that time watching everyone else eat their starters, whilst 3 members of staff stood chatting at the bar. Will not be going back there, they could have totally ruined the day if let them !!

Today my brother and myself took our mam and sis in law mother for afternoon tea for mothers day I have to say what a perfect afternoon we had beautiful tea and atmosphere with singer on guitar he was amazing staff worked hard to cater for our needs cocktail on entrance afternoon sandwiches cakes and scones lovely very impressed xx

We have been coming to Dolly's for lunch on Saturdays at least twice a month for years and in all of that time they have never let us down. The food is amazing quality and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is always good and the staff...

Food was nice, place is decorated amazing loved that. Staff were good and bad, some lovely and others face tripping them up and if your asked for anything oh god help you. Should also be more condiments on table for larger parties.

Love the place, 🥰 staff are always friendly, food is lovely, good selection of food and drinks. I fancy booking a booth for a few cheeky cocktails possibly for my 40th 🍹🍸🍾. Keep up the great work everyone 😊

Got there at 10.00 and managed to get a table, filled up quickly after that. Had tea and a cheese scone, which was lovely. Good choice on breakfast and lunch menu, also a specials board. Nice atmosphere, lovely staff. Worth a visit.

Tried to go in for a coffee at 10am. Stopped at the door to be asked if we'd booked a table as they had a lot of bookings (place was half empty and only 2 staff working). Decided to leave before we were served and were faced with a rope over the doorway. Bizarre experience.

First time at Dolly Dimples - have heard it's lovely. I ordered the prawns and was so disappointed as they were dry and tough! Have never had prawns which were almost inedible. I didn't complain because I was being treated to lunch and didn't want to embarrass my companion. Really not good enough.

regular at dolly dimples so this visit was unusally bad. Waited 15 mins to order, had to ask in the end. Soup took another 20mins to arrive, lady on table next to me came in 15 mins after me and got her soup at same...

Soup and sandwiches were nice and well presented. Tasted nice. Unfortunately one of the baps had mould on it and the homemade bread that came with the soup was doughy and undercooked. Latte is on the small side for the price. Wanted Coke but none available! Service was a little on the slow side considering how many people were in the place.

We held a mini baby shower for our friend who is expecting , the staff were lovely , food was amazing and they really made the morning special .

Outstanding service from all the staff here, a special thank you to Don and Daniel and to all the kitchen staff and superb chef for a five star meal the beef and vegetables were cooked and presented to perfection..amazing, thank you for a superb dining experience and as usual looking forward to visiting Dolly's again in the near future.
