Very simple surroundings for beautifully prepared food! Fresh, hot bread. Lamb tender and perfectly prepared. Worth it!

We live locally but had a visitor from Poland who we had booked in to stay at the castle overnight and we joined him for dinner. From walking in through the front door, all the staff were friendly and incredibly helpful. Drinks in the bar first and then dinner in The Oak Room. The setting is amazing with fires burning in both the bar and The Oak Room to add to the atmosphere. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food and the wine and we all thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The food was incredible and coffee and petit-fours in the drawing room to finish just rounded everything off perfectly.

The menu and meal is prepared by top rated Chef. The service is amazing and it is a wonderful setting for a fabulous and romantic evening in this castle. The price is so reasonable for the menu of three courses. Chef plans a new menu each week. They will also help you choose appropriate wine to accompany the meal.

Had the 3 course menu (very reasonably priced at £28 inc. petits fours and coffee). My partner and I had a brilliant time. The food is *excellent*, the chef providing imaginative takes on traditional dishes, plus a great wine list, coffee and petits fours afterwards. The venue is old school, atmospheric and intimate. Perfect - a proper memory to take with us from the holiday. No vegetarian options on the set menu we saw, though we didn't ask whether this was possible - may be catered for!

The food is superb and the wine list is very good, albeit both are pricey. The chef makes imaginative use of high quality Scottish ingredients, and everything is expertly presented (without reducing portion size to modern minuscule.) Only open for dinner (breakfast is provided in the old Hall and lunch is available in the other restaurant, the Dungeon) and, recently, needs booking 24 hrs in advance. Young children are not catered for (again, the Dungeon is available.)

Exceptional staff, excellent food with great service. Talking about service you was greeted with a smile on entering. Message to the chef. The taste and flavours of you cooking was amazing.
