The Gargunnock Inn in Stirling

We hadn’t been to the Gargunnock Inn for years. It certainly didn’t disappoint us. The first thing to note is the friendliness of the service. That made us feel really welcome. The menu contained all the pub grub favourites. The food was tasty and very well presented in very comfortable surroundings.

We dined at the Gargunnock Inn twice during our recent holiday in the area. On both occasions we found all of the staff we encountered to be friendly and welcoming and the service very efficient. On the first evening, we both had the chicken and haggis dish and found the veg to be cooked to perfection. On the second evening, we took advantage of the fish & chips BOGOF deal, which was great value. It was the first time in years that I'd had scampi and it was really delicious. We were both stuffed but, as it was the last night of our holiday, we managed to make room for pud and both had the fruit crumble which was very tasty.

Nice pub with nice food and friendly service.

Decided to book here as staying locally and was pleasantly surprised. It was a delicious meal, the beef was superb and only just managed to polish off a dessert between two. Would recommend this place and would come back if in Scotland.

Nice food but wouldn’t go mad for it, I tend to look at if I can do better at home it’s a bit of a disappointment, fish wasn’t great and certainly would have felt robbed if it hadn’t been on 2 for 1, chicken and haggis dish nice although veggies were undercooked and the lasagne was far to loaded with greasy cheddar type cheese real layers to it either as it was only about 2cm thick. Service was slow almost to the point of having to ask to get plates removed and prompt staff for dessert menu, did notice a difference between how attentive the man was depending on whether he knew your face or not. The girls were lovely.

We had dinner here for the first time last week and we had a very positive experience! The staff were absolutely lovely, and the food was nice as well. I didn't think the steak was cooked blue like I asked (more medium-rare in my opinion, but I am aware that I am not British and in Belgium we are used to having our meat much, much more rare than here). Chips were a bit meh, but the Panko squid was gorgeous and so was the ham hock terrine.

This is your quintessential cosy pub! Couple of roaring fires, characterful old building and really lovely staff. The food is quality pub grub with a few additional surprises. Love this place. Would highly recommend!

I have been wanting to try the Inn for quite a while, and the opportunity arose, and we went for it. Great food and drink. My only criticism would be that I don't think that there shouldn't be dogs where people are eating. Guide dogs only.

Attentive and welcoming staff, lovely ambience - warm and comfortable. Table service was welcoming, efficient and friendly. A special mention to Hope who looked after us plus all her other colleagues whose names we didn't catch. Dog friendly with biscuits and water readily available for your K9s. The food was piping hot and delicious. I'd highly recommend the roast chicken with haggis and whisky sauce, yum!! Sadly, we live in Derbyshire otherwise this would definitely become a local.

Excellent visit to the Inn for my birthday. Getting a seat next to the wood stove really made it a great experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, highly recommend the chicken and haggis dish or the lasagna. Brilliant food and lovely atmosphere. Will be back.

We ate at The Gargunnock Inn during a recent stay at the Treehouses at Leckie - it was one of the proprietor's top recommendations and we weren't disappointed. We got a very warm welcome from all of the staff and we were seated in a lovely area next to the bar with a roaring log burner. All of the food was absolutely delicious. We had the ham and chicken terrine, cajun chicken burger, chicken and haggis with whisky sauce, sticky toffee pudding and crumble of the day - rhubarb. The pub was very relaxed and dog friendly.

Lovely, dog friendly pub. Very welcoming and food is fab. Easy to miss so look out for it! Well worth a visit.

Nice pub with very helpful and attentive staff. Food was really nice, generous portions and thanks to the kitchen staff. Had three courses with 2 drinks and was about £35, reasonably priced. Would go again.

Great Place. Friendly staff, good food, fast service. Es lohnt sich auf jeden Fall auf dem Weg in die Highlands auf der Autobahn hier eine Pause zu machen. Uns hat es auf der Fahrt vom Flughafen Edinburgh zu unserem Hotel gerettet.

Excellent once again. I stay locally and have never had anything less than an excellent experience at this family run restaurant. On this occasion we had family here visiting from Norfolk and the four of us had a lovely meal, all having something different. The venison stroganoff was the best I have tasted, so tender and well cooked, the others had similar experience with their dish. Paul Mathew and staff are always very pleasant and attentive making a meal here a great choice.

Went here today after hearing from family that the food was lovely, that was an understatement! The food was amazing and totally delicious. Looking forward to going back for something else to try from the menu.

We found the Gargunnock Inn by accident a few years ago and go whenever we can. The staff are welcoming and friendly, and the food is proper home cooked meals, plenty of choice, and good value. It's worth a visit if you get the chance.

Had dinner at our local last night, not been for a while! Food was excellent and very well presented just as on previous visits. The French onion soup was absolutely delicious as was the Game pie, all piping hot including the pool plate. My wife had a Cajun Chicken burger and it was equally good and tasty. Staff as always friendly, courteous and attentive. Definitely will be back sooner next time as we realised what we have missed. Highly recommend to those who have never been.

On holiday stayed in Gargunnock, 1st night we headed to the Gargunnock Inn for drinks, taking our westie Angus with us. The inn was very busy but we were told there were seats in the bar, we were made to feel very welcomed and had a great night in this family and dog friendly inn. Tonight we decided to go for dinner and we were not disappointed, the food, service and atmosphere were all fabulous. Would highly recommend a visit but make sure you book. A lovely local inn which welcomes strangers warmly.

First visit and we weren’t disappointed. Staff were lovely and welcoming, first class service! Food was amazing, best we’ve had in a long time. Very reasonably priced and decent portion sizes. Cosy pub atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Friendly and welcoming Inn with superb food and drink coupled with great staff and fantastic atmosphere. The night we arrived we were treated to local live music which was an added bonus.

This is such a good pub. Comfortable and friendly and good value for money. They serve good, unfussy food - we had delicious local sausages & mash and a fish finger sandwich, and a couple of pints of local ale. Cannot recommend highly enough.

A friend took us here today and we all enjoyed our meals - chicken, scampi & Sri Lanka vegetable curry. The staff was friendly and the room was cosy on a cold November afternoon.

It was nice to be back in the Gargunnock again. Parking on the street is available but would recommend using the pub car park at the rear. Nice size bar area and it looks like it would be a nice cosy place in the winter. Had lunch of Steak pie which was very good, others had the battered fish and beef lasagna which was also very good. Service was great, polite and quick. Great pub lunch experience in a beautiful small village.

Went for a meal with relatives, visiting The Gargunnock Inn for the first time. We all enjoyed our meal and felt it to be very relaxing and not rushed. Loved the fact dogs are welcome. Would certainly recommend. We will be back.

Great food but a slow drinks service

Great place for refreshments after a walk in the Campsie Fells, they do teas and coffees and cakes as well as bar drinks, plenty of seating outside if the weather is good.

Two families for dinner. The staff were lovely n helpful and the food was great! Three of us had the chicken with haggis with the super delicious honey roast veg!! Would definitely recommend!

We had a Sunday lunch at the Inn before. As expected the food was good with the lamb and the steak pie favourites. Followed by deserts of crumble and sticky pudding went done with all. Cheery staff and good food can't go wrong.

Visited on a Thursday, two families holiday in the area. We arrived at 4pm and the team couldn’t have been more accommodating. Welcomed us in and the food and beer was fantastic. Kids loved the menu and the Sundaes for desert and we all left very happy. If you are in the area, take some time to visit. Highly Recommended.

We just visited for a birthday lunch. The food was outstanding with service to match. My steak was best I have had in a long time and my husbands pork special dish was amazing.

First time visit and hopefully not the last. Friendly warm welcome, love the interior of the pub and the food was immense. Great job guys. Also loved the fact it was dog friendly, I always have to question pubs that do not allow in dogs.

Decent food at slightly pricier points and a limited mains menu outside of burgers than other gastropubs. Service and delivery was adequate but nothing was anything to write home about, though very family friendly, warm & cozy. It's the kind of place you'd take your mum to for a stew and a gander if you've got the time and money to get here.

We had dinner here at the weekend after a very last minute decision to go out to eat and thankfully they could accommodate us especially having a dog. The staff were all really friendly and even gave the dog a treat. Food was really nice from the main menu and kids menu, quite big portions and good value for money. We dined at the Gargunnock Inn twice during our recent stay in the village on holiday. We booked a table on the Sunday which was just as well as it was fairly busy with locals, whereas on the Wednesday we had the dining area to ourselves. Very Covid-safe, with the staff requesting customers to scan the QR codes. The food was very tasty and well presented and decent portion sizes and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our first dining out experience in over 18 months, so it felt a real treat!

Delicious food and very cosy ambiance. Spoiled however by being charged £3.90 for 1.50pts of soda water

Stopped for an early evening meal. Quickly placed and drinks and meal orded. The service was quick and the staff were cheerful. The two meals were ready and were plentifuk and fresh. The scampi was good portion and the steak pie had good chunks of steak,

One of Scotland's best kept secrets resides in Gargunnock. The Gargunnock Inn is a delightful example of classic Scottish ambience in a small village setting. The menu is relatively sophisticated for most palettes and the beverages on hand will satisfy nearly any drinker. Portion sizes are good and prices are completely reasonable. The beer garden is an excellent place to unwind and relax. Gargunnock Inn is not on the main roads out of Stirling but is a short drive from the city and well worth the effort to visit. Parking is readily available on the street immediately opposite the premises. Well worth a visit

Really enjoyed our meal here. Generous portion sizes and really liked that some of the produce on the menu was very local. Great value for money and the service was lovely, would definitely visit again.

My favourite eating place in the Stirling area!

Stayed a few nights in Gargunnock, so first night went for steak night. Service excellent, food superb, atmosphere just right for a village Inn but loads of room once inside. Enjoyed it so much returned at the weekend for dinner and again wasn’t disappointed, food once again excellent and service just right even on a busy Saturday. Overall, no complaints at all.

Mis padres mayores y yo almorzamos el domingo. Mis padres comieron el solomillo asado y yo tuve el eglefino. Todos fueron increíbles y la salsa tartare era hermosa. La carne de mi madre era un poco rara para ella, pero la camarera con gusto la recogió y la resolvió. Los camareros no podrían haber sido más amables. Mi madre es muy exigente con el buen servicio al cliente y no podía alabarlos lo suficiente. Teníamos Apple Crumble para dulce y fue increíble. Mi papá no dejó una migaja.El ambiente era muy relajado y acogedor, todo lo que cabe esperar de un pub de campo. He vivido en Stirling toda mi vida y esta es la primera vez que he estado en este pub, pero definitivamente no será la última.
