The Oak in Hertsmere

I live close to the oak it has been poorly run in the past but has now got a great governor who is keen to do well. Friendly customer's and staff.

New management, wonderful staff, really changing this establishment around. Clean, fun, great atmosphere, children welcome with family's, highly recommended to go along, Halloween event coming up cannot wait fie the fun with the kiddies and adult evening.. Also available for private high at extremely good price for functions. Good luck with the new adventure.

Not been there since 1976 when I lived next door at 76 Rossington and the pub was the Shooting Star.

No Food is just a great pub, especially for sports. Big screens in grear viewing places really good prices for drinks clean modern and tidy with a great garden very welcoming would highly recommend

This was my first visit to The Oak Pub, it's really nice looking from the outside and really nice inside. The bar is superb, nicely lit up, many furnished tables and chairs arranged throughout, many big TV 's that are easily seen throughout, nice choice of music. There is also a nice grassed area out front and benches to sit outside, also a nice seating area to the side of the pub. The front door entrance is ramped, wheelchair and mobility scooter friendly, there is a pool table and darts area... It's so clean. It is child friendly. The lady managing the pub is professional, efficient and friendly, friendly people. However, food is not available. Such a nice experience. Sincerely, Arnold.

Very friendly and pleasant local. Good range of drinks and John Smiths on draught and also do bottled ale. Many years ago the pub had a bad reputation but 13 years later it is a great family area. Love the board games and as it's in walking distance we shall be coming Mike often to make up for the 10 plus years we didn't. Lovely done out outside seating area with cosy and covered bench seats. Decor all brand new and clean !

Been a long time since I last visited this pub. Drunk in here quite often when living in the area. It was a disappointment to see the state of the pub now. Unfriendly staff that made me feel ill at ease. The way they treat some patrons is shocking. Keeping tables and toilets clean don't seem to be high on their list. It will need a change of personal before I return.

Very nice pub allow the dog the staff is very frendly

Staff are really friendly, couldn’t do enough for you. Pub is always clean and there are always events on on the weekends. The pub is always decorated amazing, balloons banners etc. dog friendly pub, nice garden and kid zone.

Visited this pub on a few occasions and each one I have felt very welcome, staff are friendly, pool table to keep my kids busy! Plus a good size garden. Always clean and tidy.Food always been nice. Easy parking and family friendly. Highly Recommend 👌

Great pub ,staff are so friendly and the only pub I know that go out of their way to put on things for familys .Roast dinner are great but make sure you go when your tummy is empty as they are massive .

Came here on a Sunday beautiful roast dinner, really friendly bar staff.

Very friendly pub with lovely staff. Good music and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Got to say the food is amazing. I have had their Sunday Roasts and the casserole, both dishes were homemade and very tasty. I will definitely be going back.

My partner and I was walking past after a dog walk nearby and we noticed that The Oak did a Sunday roast at a good price. I popped in to ask if our dog was welcome into the pub and the bar staff were more than happy for us all to go in. The pub was clean, a nice atmosphere and barstaff friendly. The lady behind the bar sorted out a bowl of water for the dog after we ordered our drinks and food. Very impressed with the Sunday Roast! Great price, good portions, taste great and we didn't leave hungry! There was a Pool table so we stayed for another pint and a game of Pool. The staff there made us feel welcome and we have decided to come back with other family members to experience a 'Great British Sunday Roast' I highly recommend The Oak for a Sunday Roast Dinner

Visited this pub in October. Was made to feel really welcome friendly staff nice atmosphere and the food was excellent

Most reviews praising this place are years old. The place is now a dump. Service is terrible, staff are rude if they don't know you. Don't order any food, you will regret it. I just can't find one good thing to say about the place.

Visited the pub in June. If you are not a local, I'm afraid you will be insulted. Ordered a drink and was going to order food. The staff treated me like dirt and made me feel afraid for my safety. This place needs to be closed down. I strongly advice people to stay away.

Not the best place for dinner both meats we're cold and to much vegetables.

The most unfriendliest pub I have ever been to. Difficult to get served, rude staff and unfriendly atmosphere. I feel sorry for anyone drinking in this dump. Thankfully it won't be me.

A friendly pub stuck in the middle of a housing estate at Rossington avenue. Its only failing from my point of view is that it doesn't serve food hence only 3 stars.

I love the place I feel at home there,and the people are lovely very welcoming. Feel like I've been going there longer than I have but it's been a month, food is delicious

No character but clean. Very quiet during Covid. I don't imagine it would normally be quiet. Staff was not the most welcoming to a talking teddy bear, but a customer was. The pub is opposite the 292 bus terminus, so useful is for seeing if the bus is getting ready to leave. I've not eaten but looking at the menu and the food being shown on the videos for the pub and the faint image of a pizza on the menu, there seems to be a mismatch. I guess the menu was using a stock photograph of a pizza that is not on the menu. Shame, it looked quite good in the photo! I don't imagine this would be a gastro pub, but more standard pizza, burgers and chips.

Sad to say I was there after a funeral but pub was nice and clean bar staff nice and helpful

Our first visit. What can I say? Angie our host was fantastic, friendly, enthusiastic and charming. Our food was almost faultless,only criticism it was so nice I wanted a second portion. Excellent night.oh and the music is great.many genres.
