Fantastic experience its a very well thought out and modernly decorated bar. Great staff, great drink and brilliant atmosphere. Deffo recommended.

What’s the point of a call option when it doesn’t ring? Absolutely pointless

It's a canny pub just ashame the ladies toilets are upstairs, not great for woman in heels, staff are really friendly and drinks very reasonable. The upstairs woman's will put me off though.

Reopened..6/10/23 NEW NAME..THE NORTH STAR. Refurbishment...much better now. Classed as sports bar. Several screens showing different sports. Live music and karaoke 🎤 nights along with disco. Check with pub on FB for events. Toilets now downstairs. NO FOOD. NO KIDS ANYMORE. Drinks. No Stella. :-(On 06/10/23) But Pint of Madri £4.95. Cruzcampo (nice) £3.60. John Smiths. £2.20 Strongbow £2.80 Think Fosters about £2.60. Plenty of others. Loads of spirit selections. First impressions...nice.

Rude staff, awful bouncers. Change drink prices when it suits them. Bring back original POW BURN staff!!!

Wonderful rock band on tonight, disappointed that It hadn't been advertised, not even mentioned on Facebook page, big opportunity missed!

Great beer prices, party atmosphere on a Friday with karaoke on a Friday.

Generally speaking, you go in, drink a beer, maybe play darts or billiards, it's cool

Update - 9.10.2023 The Pow Burn is now the North Star. Had a refurb and the place looks really good, it feels a lot bigger inside and bit more brighter. Gents toilets are now downstairs so no longer a hike upstairs to where they were! A lot of stuff on tap and friendly staff and atmosphere .

Great transformation into a stylish pub, sport lovers will be pleased with lots of screens.

Reopened today, 6th October, a little gaudy compared to before but still a great bar to pop into anytime and enjoy a pint… Don’t know who chose the blue front but someone needs to break in and re paint it ASAP..! Main change is the number of TVs, all geared up to world sport… And of course all the characters of Shields popping in and out all day long… 😂

If this is only going to be a sports bar and only over 18s allowed it'll end up shutting because everyone goes there for breakfasts meals and Sunday dinners.. pretty devastating

Since the day before yesterday, July 5, 2023: APPEARS TO BE CLOSED, SEEMS TO BE CLOSED. 2 weeks ago: Quite a good selection of beers and the food was reasonably priced and very good and plentiful.

A positive experience all round.

I was here as I were visiting the area, I found it a clean and very pleasant venue, I noted from the min I walked the staff were immediately attentive, and was asking what I wished for, so I thank the lady for that (yesterday afternoon) I also noted that this is child friendly place and 10/10 for that. The disabled facilities are located on the right when you walk in, There was music in background but not overpowering, and I found this experience a lot better, as you can here the guest that you are with. Overall I found it excellently priced, and a great atmosphere.

Cheery place, food looked really good and very well priced

Had the all day breakfast was really good proper butchers sausage, egg perfectly done and mushrooms delicious, good bacon, chips beans and tomato. A nice relaxed atmosphere and good music.

Nice little friendly pub situated just at the side of the shopping centre, friendly staff and people and the food is surprisingly good The portion size is enough to feed an army well worth your money. We go every Friday it’s a must to go and try

My food was tasteless, they made me pay extra for a spot of sauce and the waitress kept coming and grabbing things I wasn't finished with.

Had Christmas Dinner to day. Excellent,lots of turkey mash and roast potatoes, five veg pigs in blankets stuffing and jug of gravy, Yorkshire Pudding . Could not eat it all.Should not have had the soup first but it was delicious.Staff are all ways very nice ,very pleasant nothing is to much trouble.5 Star for staff. Thank You

Nice pub, friendly staff, ordered chicken parmo, very disappointed, it was hard and rubbery like it'd been microwaved, everything else was good, chips and salad was fresh, Wife had Chicken wrap which she enjoyed, just the parmo let it down and the waitress didn't even ask if the food was ok despite the chicken being left on the plate..

Quiet most nights, jumping at the weekends nice food and cheap pints 🍻 10/10 would recommend clean bar and very friendly staff

Nice Town Centre pub with reasonable prices. Very nice inside so would definitely recommend calling in for a drink and giving it a try. I will most certainly be going back.

Good wholesome "pub grub", very large portions, chicken was delicious. Excellent value, 2 meals for £10.99, will definitely be back.

Due to a Council con job, I don't believe that the bus stops in the traditional bus stop area will not be replaced. Pow Burn is now just a place opposite the bus stop 😎

Nothing special. A regular bar basically in the middle of nowhere. Pricing was a bit high for a 2 star bar. Referring to their reply- I'd rather add an extra £2 and drink Red Stripe in Turtle Bay!

Nice pub ! I was down there about 5 years ago with my friend play pool but since l moved away l never been back sadly my friend pass away and died that's why l don't go in anymore ! But it's a nice pub and meals and drinks are ok ! I hope they moved the pool table around again miss going in lot off memories in that pub l recommended u go there nice pub if u want a drink

Me and my friends randomly stumbled into the Pow Burn a few months ago and now we go here all the time. It's cheap and cheerful. We always have a good laugh!

Staff in this pub are great. Always very pleasant. Bit concerned that the track and trace app contact point is on the menu holder and these were removed several hours before closing. No other sign of track and trace. Some of the punters are the problem. No regard for entry/exit signs and the louder ,younger customers no observation at all for no contact or social distancing. Don't we just know what the outcome will be. Admittedly the answer is to not go there but a bit of consideration for others never goes amiss. Rant over

I was shocked that no one was asking us the check in for track and trace.. when I asked the waitress she said it doesn't matter it's not the law...

All day brunch! Food amazing as always, reasonable prices and friendly staff.

It's a bit like Marmite. Personally I loved the place and will miss going there for a cheap pint or ten.
