The Nook - Rogerstone in Newport

Love it here, I often pop in on my way to work as I live in Rogerstone. The white chocolate/coconut matcha is unreal!! :) The staff are all so friendly too, I always get chatting to the girls while I wait for my coffee. Or at weekends when I go with my children they are very accommodating! Ellie x

I drive past here occasionally and stopped into today hoping for a pastry, the new food menu caught my eye with Turkish eggs, a food I’ve always wanted to try but never see on a menu. I’m so glad I did, it was incredible, so much flavour, running poached eggs and crisp buttery sourdough toast. Also had a fantastic maple oat latte. 10x better than any slop you’ll get in Starbucks. Great staff, great aesthetic, no complaints

Been there twice now, been lovely both times, the second time I had the "Bean and Bread" which was honestly one of the nicest things I have ever eaten (it was also vegan :-)).

Lovely little place but the day we went there was no food available apart from cakes which we didn't have as we went there for breakfast so I can't judge the food hence 4 stars. Would go back as the photos of food looks yummy!

Having visited Bean and Bread in Abergavenny expectations were high, but the Rogerstone venue lives up to the hype. A brilliant venue with a great feeling to it, the coffee was exceptional and both the cake (photoed) and the crossiant were brilliant. The girls behind the counter added to a wonderful feel to the venue and we are already planning a return trip.

Nice place with good coffee. I don’t mind paying a premium for a nice environment and good coffee but I do think £3.20. for a double espresso is over the top.

I’ve popped into Bean and Bread a couple of times now and have really enjoyed working from here. The staff are super friendly and attentive. There flat whites have been super smooth unlike a lot of places in the areas. They have a great selection of cakes and pastries! As an aside, I was surprised by the price of some of the food on the menu for example £5.50 for a round of sourdough toast, and I’d be reluctant to regularly eat here based on that which is a shame, it’s on par with Abergavenny but it’s a slight difference in demographic. Hopefully they’ll refine as they go. I’ll definitely be back though.

Never fails. Haven't been for a good 12 months and questioning why I left it so long. Superb food, cracking service.

This place is a little gem. It's so under-rated. They put so much effort into their food but keep it a relaxed cafe atmosphere too. This is my escape when I need a new scene to study in.

Fantastic food, amazing service from booking to eating, kids from 10 to 24 loved it, adults thought it was amazing - standout comment was i couldnt have been better looked after by my mum

Black pudding CRUMB on the plate? If it's a grilled tomato - GRILL IT PROPERLY If I'm paying £12.50 for a breakfast I want a whole piece of black pudding not just a tiny quarter piece of black pudding ripped up and crumbled over the breakfast Some clever Menu item names to help the ingredients appear premium Portion size is too small for what is being charged, yes there are some high quality items on the plate such as the bacon which is thick cut good quality but there is certainly not enough overall quality or quantity to charge £12.50 for this breakfast and £2.50 for an extra individual sausage is daylight robbery A more exceptable price for this would be something in the region of £8.50 Or if same ingredients used but portion size goes up then £10 would possibly be acceptable Pretty high prices for something pretty standard Overall I feel The Nook is trying very hard to be something it's not and likes to be seen as something different than the ordinary but is actually more ordinary than it realises Plenty of room for improvement, does have the potential to be something very good but only - if the gap between overcharging, fluffing up description, creating a slightly pretentious environment and........serving good honest fairly priced food can be closed down a bit

Food was fine but considerably overpriced. Pugh's garden kitchen has a better atmosphere and pricing.

Food was very disappointing for the price we payed. I had the sweet potato rosti and it was a very small portion for £13.50 with 1 small rosti of normal potato. This was completely over priced. My husband had the steak and eggs and again the portion was small for £16 and the steak was mostly well done. We also waited 30 minutes for drinks to arrive and 45 mins for food.

This place serves a great breakfast. Worth travelling to. They use very good ingredients and the menu is well thought out. Decent coffee too! Only complaint is they could do with sharper knives.

My mum arranged and organised a baby shower for me at the Nook - 23rd July. We all had such a fantastic time, if you looking for an intimate place for your nearest and dearest (low 40s at mine) then this is the place if you wanted a private event. Perfect size space, lucky with the weather meant we could utilise the outdoor space too. Hannah was fantastic and was in regular contact with my mum with all the planning beforehand. Nothing was too much trouble and they were able to cater separately for a vege, vegan and gluten free plates for some of my guests. We played games, all had a fantastic time, and was very relaxed. Hannah kept checking in to see that we were all ok but equally we were able to do our own thing. All of my guests commented that the venue was perfect and a lovely place, all commented on the amazing food!! Nothing was wasted as Hannah really helpfully boxed up some left overs for us to take home. Thank you so much, the venue, service and food made my afternoon so much more relaxed knowing everyone was happy, enjoying themselves and that they thought the food was amazing! Xx

Hannah and her team could not do enough for my hubby and his party entourage! There was 18 of us and nothing was too much trouble! The team went out of their way to make our evening extra special! The food was out of this world....better than most expensive restaurants we have been to......huge shout out to the chef and their team! The taste of every meal prepared was divine and very well presented. I can honestly say it was the best meal we have had out in such a long time. The front of house staff kept drinks flowing and was there at every whim....thankyou for making tyrons evening that extra bit special......every event to be booked with you! Visited this Saturday just gone 25th March. Would advise booking, glad I did as it started to get pretty busy. Staff were all very polite and friendly. Food was great, I had a traditional cooked breakfast, was very good, not greasy at all. My partner had the poached egg with avocado & Parma ham, looked great and she did say was Fab. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Although I didn’t have one, the cakes looked lovely.

Ive been coming to the nook a few times a week ever since it opened Hannah, Gus, Adam, Kelsie and the rest of the team are the loveliest of people The food is out of this world. You have the brunch menu which is served during the day. They also do Friday nights which I can only urge people to go an experience. The food is high-end and has been featured in local press They'll do anything for you to make the experience the very best it can be Will be going back, again and again - genuinely amazing to have this on the doorstep but even if I moved I would travel back

We usually visit The Nook for brunch, but went for Mother’s Day today and had an exceptional meal. The roast was outstanding. Lovely atmosphere - always welcoming and accommodating. Food is second to none.

Had Mother’s day dinner here for 1pm for 4 people, didn’t receive starters until 1:50 however they were very delicious, mains weren’t served until 2:30, quite disappointed with the service but can’t complain about the food, very delicious and lovely presented just a shame about the service, seemed a bit unorganised. Had breakfast here before, also very delicious and large portion and service was great so unsure if this was just a one off. Reasonably priced food too.

Popped in for brunch after seeing positive reviews online. Wonderful breakfast, great coffee and friendly, helpful staff. Oh and one piece of fruit cake turned into 2! Will definitely be back.

My friends & I have eaten at The Nook on several occasions & each time, the service & the food have been excellent! We are always greeted with a friendly smile from all of the staff & absolutely nothing is too much trouble. The food is always absolutely perfect - I can throughly recommend 'The Nook Breakfast'! I'm looking forward to going on a Friday evening - all of the menus look amazing. Thanks to all of the staff at The Nook - looking forward to seeing you next time!

We just popped in to get some takeaway coffee's but the little touches were lovely and it was so welcoming and friendly.

The vegetarian breakfast was amazing. We also took away a brownie which was delicious. We will definitely be visiting again!

First visit. Delicious lunchtime snack with first class ingredients. Staff very friendly and everywhere spotlessly clean. Will be back.

NOT JUST A COFFEE SHOP - 5 STARS - a fantastic experience!! My husband loves mussels and I've been looking for a local restaurant that sells them and found here. I booked on Tuesday (must of been lucky) for the Friday at 6pm and was happy to leave £5 each for the reservation. DON'T FORGET - if you want the lobster, order it on Thursday (I used Facebook - but you can telephone). When we arrived, there was no one else there. It didn't matter. The staff made us so welcome and chatted until we were ready to order. First course - the mussels - husband said they were perfect. I had the scotch egg and still can't work out how the egg was runny. Sign of a great chef! Main course - lobster for me and scallops for my husband. Both cooked to perfection. Came with french fries and we ordered a side order of beer battered onion rings and extra home-baked bread. So tasty! Drinks - had non-alcoholic and alcoholic including Baileys coffee at the end of the night. Dessert - we decided to take away our dessert. Lemon cheesecake and chocolate cheesecake. Did not disappoint! Thank you Hannah and your staff for a memorable night. You looked after us as a wonderful host would. As we said then, we will be back. Lots of my friends know about you now. Hopefully they'll book and have as great a time as we did.

Lovely brunch and milkshakes, banana in particular. Busy though so, as we hadn’t booked, we were at the counter. Sweet potato rosti was great.

Amazing food amazing atmosphere! Had never been before. We just walked in on the off chance and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. Highly recommend but be sure to book! Will definitely be back!

The service we have just received was extremely disappointing after coming 40 minutes out of the way to visit here after a previous experience with Ceri who was out of this world! Sadly Ceri was not there today and neither was the service. Whilst sitting at our booked table we had no menus and after 5 minutes of being ignored we had to get our own which the older lady watched us do and didn’t apologise. We then waited a further 10 minutes to not even be acknowledged once or have our drinks ordered taken. It was as if we were invisible. This establishment would rather see to 5 rugby players who come in after us and were seen to within seconds of them not finishing sitting down right next to us. Please also note the restaurant was half full and 3 members of serving staff present this whole time. Wasted 80 minutes of our day and will never return! Ended up walking out.

Popped into The Nook earlier today for the first time and wow. Food was just incredible, such good quality also presentation was amazing. Such a lovely atmosphere. Staff/Chef were so accommodating especially for myself being gluten free (gluten free options were endless) Such a credit to our community and we sure will be back

I came here previously back in November and was served by Ceri, who was great. Very attentive and food was delicious. On the back of this we decided to come back this morning which for us is a 40 minute drive. The service and experience was unfortunately very poor. We booked a table and was ignored from the moment we got there. There were no menus on the table and after five minutes I got up and got our own. We were still not even acknowledged. Just after we arrived a table of rugby players from the Dragons arrived (5 players) and they seemed to be getting all the attention. They were served before us, even though we arrived prior. After 15 mins of feeling invisible and no one even acknowledging us we decided to leave. It wasn't busy, almost half empty with three members of staff. To not even so much as bring a menu over, take our drink orders or even acknowledge us is really poor. We will not be returning on the back of this which is a shame as the food previously was delicious.

Once again, superb food and superb service. Highly recommend this place for fabulous food.

Spectacular lunch and great customer service. Make sure you book during busy times as they are very popular. Really good menu and the food was cooked to perfection. The cheese cake was wonderful too. We all came away happy and stuffed!

Spectacular brunch, everything was presented flawlessly and tasted amazing. Couldn't fault anything about our visit, will definitely be coming again; a chef very much in his element, supported by a great front of house team. Very lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber in Rogerstone.

Lovely staff and the decaf coffee is the best I’ve had - ever! Tastes suspiciously like the real stuff but it isn’t. Food brilliant too. Only downside it that’s it’s a little too small but that’s not a downside really as if it were any bigger it would be too big …… When I’m accompanying my daughter (in her car with L plates ) it’s my favourite place to stop for a treat and talk about how good the coffee is and how small it is but any bigger and it wouldn’t be the same size. Did I say lovely staff already ? Oh GF too if that’s your need ….

Having stayed overnight in Cwmcarn where the only thing open was Scooby Snacks we wanted and found a cracking breakfast at The Nook. Service was great, prices very reasonable and most importantly the food was gorgeous. Absolutely worth a visit, daily if you can 😁

The Nook was recommended to us by a colleague. Oh my, THE best coffee in South Wales, for sure! Really lovely staff who were most accommodating and happy to adapt a meal to gluten free for a Coeliac. The food was beautifully presented and ‘just the right size’, tasty and a good price to boot. Will be visiting again when passing through this area. Very well patronised, so booking advisable.

Hannah you deserve these five stars as much as your fabulous coffee shop does for being such an absolute angel coming to my rescue in Tesco Risca today. You and your partner spent so long helping self print photos from my mobile for me when I couldn't do it myself. I just cannot thank you both enough. You're the best. What a great little place. We had a fab night here for Rum & Reggae night. Don't be deceived by appearances, it looks like a simple cafe but the food quality is amazing 👌 We had wonderful cocktails, jerk chicken wings to start, a fillet steak, jerk salmon, rice & peas and homemade coleslaw. Couldn't fault it, was all delicious and beautifully presented. A very relaxed evening, with great music and such a warm, friendly atmosphere. All the staff were lovely, helpful and efficient. With the sun streaming in and all the windows and doors open, it felt like we were away on holiday. We loved it. Would definitely recommend and will be back soon 👍🥰

Travelling on the M4 and wanted a good lunch stop. Just 5 minutes of M4, lovely find, great selection of very tasty food. Healthy options and a few to satisfy those wanting carbs. Well worth a short detour

Amazing find near the fourteen locks walk. Beautiful food and super friendly staff. Honestly want to take everyone here now...the nook salad blew me away with how colourful and fresh it was!

Stopped here randomly for a take out coffee. Lush one of the best I've had. Very pleasant lady serving too.

I worked here for 7 months after finishing university. Genuinely, the most friendly, encouraging and pleasant job I’ve had in the service industry. Everyone there made me feel comfortable and I wish everyone the best. Most days we were fully booked and each day was interesting. I 100% recommend this cafe to anyone in the area.

What a little gem of a place! We stopped en route to Cardiff and had the best Full English breakfast we probably ever had!!

Fabulous cafe with a superb brunch menu. The coffee is great and the atmosphere is wonderful, both in terms of the staff and the decor. We called in to say that we were coming over and the chef stayed late so we could get food. This is exactly the kind of local business that everyone should be supporting. We will be back and wholeheartedly recommend.

A real delight to eat here. As a vegan with coeliac disease I’m a nuisance customer but, The Nook having been given advance notice, I was given a choice of very tempting meals (often I have to settle for a jacket potato!) and the one I chose, sweet potato rosti with avocado and leaves “, was delicious. Service was perfect. Will definitely return.

We chanced upon The Nook during a rainstorm and it looked so inviting that we stopped for an unplanned breakfast. Stunning food and great service from an enthusiastic team. The vibe was friendly and lively and it's obviously very popular with the locals. Will definitely visit again when we return to Wales.

We visited this little independent cafe with our two small children last weekend and what a wonderful surprise. Service is excellent and the food was delicious. Any chance there could be different size coffees as it’s quite a petite cup and I like a large! Cakes are also amazing!

Sat in the Nook and have been blown away by the steak. The chef served a starter of chorizo that had been slow cooked and served minced. The chefs take on hunters chicken was, again, on another level. The Nook is well worth the visit. Ten out of ten guys, keep up the good work!

Went for breakfast here with my daughter. The breakfast was excellent. Decent ingredients cooked perfectly where many other places fail. A few more mushrooms and tomatoes would have been welcome. My daughters salad was fresh and large. Again quality ingredients. The coffees were excellent and not stupidly overpriced. A mellow vibe. The staff were friendly and helpful. We live round the corner but its worth going out of your way for a visit. Thank you.

I was a first time visitor today. I had a great cappuccino and a very moreish brownie. They also had excellent COVID controls. I'll definitely be visiting again!

I've just returned from my visit and it was one of the nicest places I've been since the pandemic! I've been very apprehensive with visiting cafes and restaurants, this was my first encounter with providing info for track and trace, yet I felt comfortable being there despite my anxieties. Staff wore PPE, everything was socially distanced, I'm really happy with my trip. Best food I've had in a while and they were so accommodating! They were able to sort food for me with my peanut allergy and were really accommodating when it came to my baby as well. It was a really reassuring and easy trip out, thank you!
