Enjoyed a great dinner at Nog Inn Thursday evening. Thursday was 'fish night's so we opted for the set fish and chip supper for two. Price was reasonable and importantly food was very tasty and a generous portion. Desserts ( apple and berry crumble and ice cream respectively) were also tasty, well presented and wholesome. Place was busy which was good to see and together with lovely friendly staff, welcoming bar and good drinks menu this pub succeeds in offering a very warm, cosy atmosphere. Great to find a place like this which offers good value, quality and welcoming atmosphere. Keep it up!

We have eaten out many times, but for the first time in our lives we found absolutely nothing to fault. We had the twice cooked belly of pork and everything on the plate was perfection. The staff were amazing and friendly and a lovely cosy atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We stopped at the Nog Inn for lunch en route to Cornwall, having spotted it on Tripadvisor, and were thoroughly impressed. The Nog Inn has a cosy atmosphere and the bookshelves held plenty of books to occupy us and our children while we waited for our food to arrive. Our 5 year-old loved her beef burger from the children’s menu. Our 9 year-old rated the children’s ham, egg, and chips as ‘10 out of 5,’ and declared the cheesy garlic bread ‘absolutely amazing.’ My Cajun chicken burger was perfect, with plenty of spice. I hadn’t thought to ask for the bacon topping to be crispy and I was delighted to find it came that way. I’m very picky about chips and the handmade ones at the Nog Inn reminded me of the chips at the Ivy (divine). Golden and crisp on the outside, they practically melted in my mouth after a bite. My husband said his classic beef burger was properly handmade, one of the better burgers he’s had out in a while. Our side of fresh vegetables was a perfectly prepared medley of tenderstem broccoli, cauliflower, fine beans and fresh peas, lightly buttered. Service was friendly and the toilets were clean. If timings for our trip home to London allow, we’ll return to The Nog Inn for lunch next week.

I had a very pleasant stay indeed at The Nog Inn, a very homely room, modern, decorated to a high standard. Really comfy bed and pillows, plenty of plug sockets for charging all my tech, and using hairdryer and hair straighteners, and a huge TV for watching the Olympics! Really spacious walk-in shower, lovely big deep bath, immaculately clean. Just perfect. Would most definitely stay again. William and Amy are a lovely, friendly and hospitable couple, I was made to feel very welcome.

The Nog Inn was a delight. Plenty of options on the menu. We opted for the pork belly and the lamb tagine and both were delicious. Perfect sized portions and good attention to detail. A proper home cooked taste, except my home cooking is not as good as this. Welcoming and friendly staff. Good beer. What is not to like!

My wife and I have just spent three nights at the Nog Inn whilst visiting the area for a family reunion and were impressed by all aspects of our stay. The room was well equipped, fully comparable with a large modern hotel, and was scrupulously clean. Food, three breakfasts and one evening meal were excellent. All this is achieved without losing the best aspects of a friendly pub. The owners and staff work hard to achieve impressive results Thanks Simon Neary

The staff were friendly, although the waitress did apologise for taking so long to come back to take our order as she forgot about us! (She had asked what we wanted to drink as we sat down but we'd not seen the menu and wanted to order drinks that would go with our food). I ordered a pint of prawns and salad as my main, but when it came It Was Not a pint of prawns, but 8 in a pint glass with a bit of rocket in the bottom. For £15.50. Yes they were king prawns, but a pint of prawns I expect to be just that, a pint! Plus they still had the poo tube in because they were big and not cleaned. My friend enjoined his burger but mine (literally) left a bad taste in my mouth.

Delightful pub stay - had dinner and breakfast. Room was spacious and beautifully set out, with high spec finishes, plentiful toiletries and charging points. Dinner very reasonably priced, good portions, swift service. Breakfast ordered the night before was delicious. Also available were juices, hot drinks, yoghurt, cereals and fruit. Note: Parking is available over the road. The pub restaurant is very popular - consider booking. Our room was at the back of the pub and it was very quite, the rooms have a key card entry system.

Visited with friends and dogs for dinner on a Sunday. Chose because it was dog friendly and in the location we needed to be in. Car park opposite is tiny and only able to keep three cars really. Parked elsewhere (a few options in the area) and walked. Inside the pub is a good atmosphere. Staff were pleasant but one waitress seemed uncomfortable around our two well behaved dogs (we understand not everyone loves dogs). Food was really average unfortunately - tasted warmed up & not freshly cooked. Drinks were good. All very decently priced.

We booked a table here on our journey home from Devon and had to call a couple of times as we were delayed, first by a large boat being transported down small country roads and then traffic on the A303.We thought it would be a nice pub on a quiet road on the outskirts of town especially given the collection of ciders offered and the type of food. It turns out to be on the one-way system in the middle of town and from the outside not particularly inviting. However once inside it is very nicely fitted out and much better than the outside or location would suggest. The menu is comprehensive but not overlong with a good selection of dishes. I had the pork belly, my son a lamb rump and my wife the spice burger. All were very tasty and well presented. Mine was served with apple mash, potatoes with just a hint of apple. The burger was a lesson in high rise food construction. You'd need detachable jaws if you tried to eat this like "a burger".They offered me tasters of the ciders which was nice and very nice they were too. As I was driving I had to limit self to a single half.If you are going to travel past Wincanton and you can time meals this is a good option.

Overall the covid prep seemed good. The food though was fantastic, me and Annie both had the pork belly which was simply awesome and great value at £13. One of the kids had a burger which was big and homemade and cooked to perfection. Our other child had plenty of veg options to choose from. The puddings were all about £5 but we didn't try them cos we were full. Great place to eat. There are not that many parking spaces maybe 6 cars max but you can park in the town car parks and have a short there.

Most unprepossessing from the outside, the Nog Inn is a glittering jewel inside. Food is a cut above standard pub grub without being pretentious, ham, egg and chips is quality ham, duck eggs and handmade chips for example. Burgers are unbelievably thickset and loaded and handmade etc. Service is friendly and attentive informal without being overbearing - just like a pub but done right. Sure, the toilets will not win design awards but were clean and functional but we went two nights running for the food, drink and atmosphere, not to admire the plumbing! Top marks; go, be there and wonder, but book first.

They also have a great selection of gins to try. We will visit again when we are next in the area.

My boyfriend and I were staying in an Airbnb in the area and decided to visit for food on a Sunday evening, great decision!! The pub was quiet but expected for a January Sunday evening, and so was easy to find an empty table. We both had the BBQ chicken burger which was huge, and SO tasty, the chips were great and all for a really reasonable price. Didn't get a good look at the bar but had a few pints of Old Rascal which was great. Staff were really nice and friendly. Highly recommended.

We visit Wincanton once or twice a year, and ALWAYS make time for a meal at The Nog. Their food is so delicious, with good portion sizes, and the staff are wonderfully helpful and friendly. I particularly recommend their pies, and their brownie is to die for!

We were in town to visit the Discworld Emporium and The Nog Inn was recommended to us while we were there. On the promise of "burgers as big as our heads" we wandered down the road to this cosy pub. With a name that wouldn't be out of place in a Discworld novel, the food was, however, far better than any I imagine could be found in Ankh-Morpork. We all opted for burgers and they exceeded our expectations. The Cajun Chicken burger, in particular, was simply amazing. Wonderful selection of ales and ciders too.

We ate here two nights in a row whilst visiting the area, the food was that good. Good selection of beer and a traditional(ish) pub menu. All the dishes we had were excellent but hat off to to the fish and chips may be the best i have ever had in a pub. Staff were excellent, helpfull and friendly. If you are in the area, do yourself a favour and drop in.

Great food but one young member of staff needs to be less stressed with customers and it's not the first time

Traditional pub, owner landlord and lady, a little tired décor but outweighed by the welcome and friendly staff. Good value, tasty homemade pub grub. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal served in the garden. Good range of ales.

Fab lunch at the Prince of Wales today. Confit duck leg with dauphinoise potatoes, and venison faggots with mash were our main courses. Both dishes were tasty, filling and cooked perfectly. Puddings were good too; ginger treacle tart and apple pie with custard, not overly sweet and decent size. Thank you

It's a pub that serves perfectly decent food. But it's not a "gastro-pub" (whatever that is). You can go in and be sure to get a moderately good meal for a moderate price. Nothing fancy. No pretentions of being anything it isn't. Just a country pub catering for a decent honest local clientele. And that's a worthwhile and valuable service I appreciate.
