Delicious Sunday lunch. Wonderful roast beef and followed by banoffee pie. Love the atmosphere here, very laid back and chilled with such nice food and wine.

We’ve eaten here several times since The Newport reopened. The food is excellent, lovely relaxing atmosphere and you can sit and look out the window with the best view of the River Tay as well! Highly recommend

Did not stay here but had a lovely lunch with friends. Simple, slightly rustic quirky environment, amazing views, great food and lovely staff. I had roast chicken and home cooked chips. Also had a Crannachan trifle..which was delicious!! Staff were so friendly and made us feel at ease. Would definitely go back ( my first time here)

In for Sunday lunch and looking forward to roast beef. Chicken instead but it was wonderful. Very tasty and not disappointed. Even though some staffing issues, you would never know. Service was good and the wine that was recommendations definitely hit the spot.

We have visited the Newport several times and it never disappoints. We had the 7 course tasting menu and all the courses were absolutely exceptional. Michelin star quality food at a reasonable price. The setting and views are stunning, cosy atmosphere and immaculate service. One of the best places I have ever eaten in Scotland or anywhere really

Lovely restaurant great views. The food was superb We had the tasting menu and the staff took time to tell us how each course was prepared. We stayed overnight and the breakfast was delicious too. Thanks to all the staff for a great experience

Absolutely the best place for food in and around Dundee. Amazing and progressive menu. Food is well priced and presented without exception. They charged us £40 for a £13 bottle of wine. We won't be back. And if we do we'll nurse a pint. The setting is unequivocal. We'd had happily have sat there drinking another bottle. But not at nearly 4 times the retail. This is a rip off situation that wouldn't be accepted in Glasgow or Edinburgh but becoming more prominent in Dundee and surrounding area. We're being ripped off. I'll simply eat and drink at home. Sadly..

Never, ever disappoints. The quality of food, service and atmosphere are outstanding. Fine dining experience with epic views, and a relaxed atmosphere. We eat here often, great seasonable and sustainable menu. Cannot recommend highly enough

Where to start! Exceptional service, clean, comfortable and spacious accommodation, beautiful views and the food was incredible. Me and my partner both agree it was without doubt the best tasting menu we have ever experienced. Joy looked after us for the night and she was amazing, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble, a true testament to the restaurant. The breakfast deserves its own honourable mention! Breakfast of kings, you will not be leaving hungry! Would 100% return in a heartbeat. Thank you!

A fabulous lunch with friends. The 4 course tasting menu was amazing as was the matching wine flight. Fantastic views over the River Tay, and friendly, helpful and knowledgable staff. Thank you also, for taking so much time and effort to find us a taxi after the meal.

Amazing 6 course taster lunch; so hard to pick a favourite. Black garlic and sourdough bread was delicious. Thoroughly recommend. Back soon.

What a fabulous lunch👍cannot wait to go back - a superb dining experience. We booked for the bar as we weren’t sure about the tasting experiences- when we arrived the helpful young man talked us through everything and we decided to grab the last table available for their tasting experience. Wow I’m glad we did what and outstanding foodie experience. service was good, view was excellent and topped with outstanding food….amazing!! We opted for the 6 course tasting menu but I am not a ‘fishy’ person so was hesitant- not a problem - all fish dishes were substituted for vegetarian whilst my husband enjoyed the fish. What an experience- thank you - delicious 👍👍👍

It had been a while since our last visit. Great Setting, Great View, Great Staff, Great Value and Fantastic Food! We won't leave it so long until our next visit.

We had the six course taster menu which was superb. Each course beautifully presented and utterly delicious. The staff were very keen to ensure we enjoyed our experience. They were effortlessly charming, friendly and a credit to the art of customer service. The setting provides stunning views up the river Tay and we were lucky to see the amazing sunset. Highly recommend that you pay a visit. You will not be disappointed.

Great stay in a beautiful large well appointed room. Also had a superb 6 course taster meal. Wine prices are quite expensive so count that into your experience. All in all a great experience.

We arrived about 25 minutes early and when letting the staff know we had arrived we were met with, “you’re early, you can take a seat here and have a drink,” or something to that effect, it was slightly impersonal, instead of, “welcome, we’re delighted you’re here, can we suggest a drink before dinner,” again or something to that effect, all said the service was knowledgeable if a little too rehearsed and again not particularly personable, in terms of ambiance, having the toilets open into the seated dining area was not ideal, all said, food was fabulous, and courses were well spaced out, wine pairings also excellent, a few tweaks here and there and ensuring the staff provide a top notch customer experience will go a long way, this was our first time and have dined at The Kitchen and other similarly themed restaurants, and while you’ll want to carve out your own fabric and personality, the customer experience has to be vibrant and equal to the price value, sadly this wasn’t our experience, yesterday. It did, though, earn a second visit, so we’ll see …

What a great restaurant. We have been a few times already and have never been disappointed. Would like to have tried three course tasting menu but they took it off so had the four instead. The food was wonderful. Absolutely no complaints. Staff are great and knowledgeable of the food they are serving. Going again next month. Can’t wait.

My wife and I have just returned home after a wonderful lunch at Newport Hotel. We selected the 5 course tasting menu and were certainly not disappointed. The food was beautifully presented, and expertly explained by the very helpful waiting staff. When we started eating, we could taste each of the ingredients that we were told was in each of the dishes. Absolutely delicious. Delicious food whilst looking across the River Tay. If you haven’t been, it is really worth a visit to taste what food could/should taste like.

Thank you for a wonderful spontaneous evening and overnight stay. Wonderful food, relaxed and attentive staff. We can’t wait to return.
