I loved the breakfast! The bacon wasn't salty at all!

Nice atmosphere, good food, friendly staff, good prices.Sarah runs a great pub with friendly helpful staff, with always a friendly welcome. A great place to visit.

Great pub, really well trained bar staff, reasonable prices and they do great breakfasts. Only missing one star on atmosphere because it's very big and open so can't achieve that cosy pub feel

This is a relaxing pub to enjoy a chat and drink with friends ( and catch up with the latest sport). The staff are friendly and the food was nice. I enjoyed fish and chips one Sunday lunchtime. Fresh and tasty and a good price 👍🏻

Great food and service in a brilliant atmosphere

Charlotte was exceptional and couldn’t do enough for us. Food was amazing anc served very quickly. Love the make over only thing is lighter coloured chairs could do with a clean.

Credit where credit is due; a last minute ask of this pub to cater for my daughter's baptism last week was so appreciated and i will never forget. The staff here allowed us to reserve four tables last minute and at first on the advice I'd given them that people would just be having drinks but then when we arrived people wanted food they catered to our every need and cooked for 20 people at the last minute despite being a busy sunday trading day. The food was really good quality and all our family commented how good the food and service was. Thank you, customer service at its finest!

Great breakfast and good for catching up with friends.

The Newlands is a good public house to visit for meals and drinks. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is well prepared and presented. We had very nice bacon batches today along with drinks from a machine where refills can be had free of charge. Seating areas are well spaced out and there is good choice of where to sit and if you want to play a game of Poole you can at The Newlands.

Food is absolutely amazing had the spicy nachos for starters and then chick burger for main. Also came for breakfast heat and was amazing. Only downside is that there isn’t lots of V/VE options, they are clearly labeled but not a lot and also couple of the staff seem quite at moments.

We had our grandchildren with us, they loved the food as did me and my wife 😋. We definitely will come again

This restaurant offers a table service, which is rare for a pub-type setting. Food service was amazingly quick, tasted good, and was really well priced! 👍👍 We're thinking of going back in the morning for breakfast!!

Me and my family went out for a family meal, the food and drinks were lovely. The environment was clean and tidy, and our service was good. We did not have to wait long for our food and was not rushed away from our table. We then went outside to enjoy a drink in the sun

Absolutely ridiculous policy rules. No 0 star option so had to use the one star. I went in for breakfast with my 4 year old daughter wearing a cap due to chemotherapy I am undergoing and the waitress refused to serve us unless I took off my cap apparently for the cameras, that sounded alarm bells to me straight away, I did not want to tell her that I am undergoing therapy as it’s none of anybody's business. if they want to monitor everyone that goes into their pub that means their worried about something??. So me and my little girl left to take our money somewhere where is more reasonable with their customers. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone even if it was free. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. Avoid at all costs. Especially if your want to wear a cap/hat for whatever reason. P.s I was not shouting at the girl serving she is not responsible for your behaviour as a pub. I was just pointing out the stupidity of your policy and management. Sometimes you should consider people’s situations and understand that you cannot put forward to paying customers what they can and cannot wear. Refusing to serve someone because of his appearance is the equivalent of closing the doors yourselves. If a transgender came in would you refuse to serve him/her? I strongly doubt it. But if a father with cancer comes in with his child comes in you refuse because he’s wearing a hat to hide his head from his child. Are you for real??? Find a new manager mate. You will find your place going down the road very quickly just like the bell.

It’s our go to, week day pub. Great staff. Food well presented and piping hot. Keep doing what you’re doing!

I was served by Eleanor last thursday night, 18th of july, the pub was very busy due to the fact majority of the customers had 40% off their bills as she explained to us while seating us. She explained that there may be a slight wait on food compared to normal. Once our food came out we really enjoyed it, mega mixed grill and sizzling grilled chicken. Will deffo be returning as staff were friendly and food was very nice.

A lovely pub for meals and drinks. It's especially worth the while in good weather as the outside sitting area is well kept and child friendly.

Lovely staff...food CV is good value for money

Food used to be good here but now, not so great. I complained that the ribs were not too good as they had less meat than a vegan nugget. In fact there was actually no meat on the rib, plenty of bone and fat but genuinely no meat. The bloke behind the bar said he'd have a word with the kitchen staff but they may not replace it which I found quite shocking since I paid for ribs and not fat. In fairness, they did replace it BUT the other one also had no meat on it. It's not likely we'll eat here again but I will say the staff are great, food isn't.

Great food, I had breakfast here and it's way better than Wetherspoons, which do a similar deal. Food was really hot, presented nicely and you get unlimited toast and hot drinks. Great for a local pub

Always a wonderful experience. Sarah and the team are always really helpful, funny and on the ball. They take great care of their regulars even when they are absolute divas - like my dad.

Staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Good choice of drinks available. Food menu is comprehensive and well presented - very reasonably priced. The only small negative comment is a little more attention to housekeeping - the lights had a lot of cobwebs and it needs a bit of tlc generally. The waiting /bar staff however cleared tables quickly and wiped down so no issues with hygiene. All in all a very good experience

Just wanted too recommend our waitress Charlotte for today. In a very busy time for food and with 2 large tables, she was efficient, professional and altogether had everything in hand. She dealt with the backlog and clients with grace and (as warned of a delay) was upfront and warm. Will definitely be recommending this pub.

Food is perfect. Service ĝood and the atmosphere is good.My friend and I often go to Newlands for a meal and we have always found ìt pleasant.

The parking facilities and wheelchair accessibility are really good,, timing of food is reasonable, pricing per person- 3 course dinner about 15£to 20£. Menu for kids lots of choices. We had our sizzling platter with Salmon fish And tandoori chicken skewers, Sizzler plates have not been cleaned enough ,they are used like oven trays -thin layer of carbon grease on the side,The vegetables in the sizzle are not tender and crunchy,Sizzler vegetables are a bit over cooked in the oven . Sizzler doesn't have sizzle with butter and smoked flavour..sorry to say this Caesar salad is just coated with mayonnaise,no croutons and parmesan on the salad.

Yesterday I attended The Newlands for the very first time. We was looking for a place to eat and with a good atmosphere, when we arrived we was asked if we booked, we didn't book we arrived not knowing what to expect. We was seated by a member of staff and straight away I was asked to turn my "cap" around, some people wear a cap for a reason so straight away the mood for myself and family went out the window. I wear my cap for a reason, when we was seated I put my cap the right way because I don't like wearing my cap back to front. When the member of staff came with our drinks she said again "turn your cap" Now I'm not going to lie, we sat at the table wanting to leave but because we already ordered we didn't have many options because the food was already cooked. I'm very disappointed to feel like I looked like a thug for me to be asked to turn my cap. I've eaten in similar pubs and wore my cap with no issues, will I be coming back? No, do I recommend this place? not if you want to feel like you can't wear what you want to wear on a Sunny afternoon I'm the paying customer who should be treated with some respect as to what I was wearing.

Been here around three times this year when we visit Cov. Always booked and always found it busy with god atmosphere. But the main win is the food. Take advantage of the two dishes for eleven pound something and they’re proper portions! The staff are great and the food comes to table really quickly. We usually go for four fish and chips, always lovely! And a cheeky pud of course!

We were turned away due to not having a reservation. We stepped out to the parking lot and looked for a reservation, and there were many slots available at that time. The hostess was not friendly, and to be honest, we will not be going back because it is very rude and unprofessional. We’re very disappointed as this would’ve been a local pub that we would’ve visited often being new to the area.

Great welcome from Sarah as we entered and was same with everyone that came in. My brother who dines there regularly had booked table of 16 for his 50th birthday and we were all really impressed! Really great choice of menu to suit everyone from the teenagers to grandparents. All our food was delicious! Service was excellent from Evie who is a natural, so approachable and friendly, and from Sarah who it was evident has the whole place run so well with great customer service. The place was full with lots of happy customers which was great to see. A singer on later was great ending to a great night! Thanks, we'll be back 😊

Friendly atmosphere with a large menu. Food tasted great with fair wait time. Ordered medium rare steak but closer to medium - might be due to hot sizzling hot plate. Ribs with BBQ sauce was great. Starters of calamari, mushrooms and halloumi fries were also great.

Food was excellent, but the condiments are always either very little or non at all and no cutlery replaced. Wish beer mats were made available, as this makes the table wet and drips get down one's self.

Hannah and the manager was friendly and attentive. Food was great especially for the price. Will definitely be back.

We have been visiting The Newlands for years, we have only had one visit that didn't achieve the usually high levels of service, which my husband posted about back in November. After speaking with the management team to review what had gone wrong, we visited again had a great meal, as always. Thank you for taking the time to respond and listen to our concerns.

Food was good & reasonably priced. Was very unhappy that I couldn't swap the normal sausages for vegan sausages due to a gluten allergy. I had to pay extra for sausages when they could of been swapped. This isn't fair when it's for a dietary reason.

Great pub, beer is always good, food is as well, especially breakfasts which are delicious, service is really quick and friendly. Bar staff are great especially Adrian and James.Live entertainment on a Saturday night is always worth a visit.

Went for meal on a Friday evening. Booked for 8.15 but could have booked later. On arrival drinks order taken and advised to choose food quickly as kitchen about to close. One order was for chicken tikka platter, however when it came it a chicken platter. We explained and the server took it away, however it was promptly brought back and we were told in no uncertain terms that that was what was ordered. (As it was all rushed our order hadn't been repeated back to us to check). We were told twice this is what was said albeit we all heard otherwise. We are reasonable people and understand these things can happen and if there had been some sort of discussion about a misunderstanding between us all but the kitchen was now closed if we were happy to have that meal could they offer a free drink, or take off the difference between the two meals, but no we were made to feel like we were wrong and she was right and the meal placed back on the table before shevwalked off. My fajitas weren't great, had some chunks of red onion on which weren't really cooked. I'd rather they had said they weren't available if they didn't have all the correct ingredients and I would have happily chosen something else but feel this was all.part of the kitchen closing rush. Feel sad as this has been our local for 30 plus years and I have always said how good it is but felt like we weren't treated in a very nice manner unfortunately. To add to the response we went on Friday 17th November.
