The 'new' York House in Hartlepool

The hotel is closed, locked up and deserted but the owner has kept our money, despite never intending to honour the booking. Don't book anything with them as you will lose your money and will have to find somewhere else to stay.

Clean rooms fantastic value hotel

Comfy room and Great breakfast.

room was o.k. but was in urgent need of renovation. At 6am woken up by what seemed like a steam hammer, it appears extractor n kitchen is the culprit, let me tell,them it does not work, smell of cooking fat permeates throughout premises. Breakfast was a disaster. What their idea of a continental breakfast is still puzzles me. Butter was rancid, though [chef?] did change it. ONLY GETS 1 STAR, because it was not to far from my place of destination. WILL NOT STAYHERE AGAIN. WILL DEFINATELY ADVISE GIVE WIDE BERTH.

Lovely welcome food is excellent

First impression was bit iffy but room was fine on small side but lovely beds ,clean linen ,big bath towels. downside was kettle badly needed descaling as shower head did, obviously in a very hard water area which showed around the taps and lower half of shower. our bedroom needed a towel rail which i reported but the man said I dont know will ask my boss. we stayed 1 night so for us it was ok . The breakfast was fine plenty to choose from help yourself, had to find lady for dishes but she was also cooking, yogurts, fruit ,cereals, juice, full english, toast etc didnt leave hungry. Nice lady to serve and cook for us. Far better night than we anticipated ,,but didnt leave our car our friend drove us in as worried about leaving it on the street, area not the best but that was only our opinion! thank you

Comfy bed lovely bath pleasant staff would stay again

Great value for money. Breakfast was fab and plenty of it. Only downside the room we had was very small........ Only has one hand and one bath towel and no one there to ask for more.

Lovely Sunday carvery. Cooked to perfection.

An absolutely cracking little hotel, totally friendly and cosy with great staff and facilities. Lovely little bar and the room exceeded expectations, very clean, and relaxing and well laundered. Breakfast was amazing, one of the best and value for money was second to none....highly recommended

Visited this restaurant last week.for a Christmas lunch with.friends it was.very nice the meal was.well.worth the money the service was.excellent I certainly.recommend.to.every.one

Great value,friendly and welcoming owner and staff,good size rooms with en-suites,very clean and warm,excellent housekeeping,very good breakfast served, fantastic Sunday carvery and great hot buffet served for parties,a nice little bar serving all kinds of ales aswell.What more could you ask for?I highly recommend this place if your looking for reasonable accommodation in the area,be it short term or long term like myself.

Sunday lunch. Food good quality superbly cooked. Well worth a vist.we will definitely be back.

A really nice venue fore small gatherings, with good quality food and service. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is parking is on the road.

Fantastic place food was 5 star but at a good price. The people who work there are so friendly. Room was lovely up to date. Bed was lovely 5 star experience will be going back again and again thanks for a great day and night
