The food is apsalutly delicious I recommend this restaurant To anyone.

We had a family meal for my birthday 12 of us in total Front of house Vivienne greeted us warmly very friendly, we were comfortably seated with plenty of room. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and the staff were very attentive. Our food arrived quickly and all at the same time considering how many of us there were. Gorgeous food, hot and plenty of it. Nothing was too much trouble they even provided children’s chopsticks for our granddaughter ❤️ This is an honest review Jackie & Vivienne have a lovely family run restaurant and we will continue to visit more & more. We had a great 70th birthday party at the New Slow Boat last night (14 of us). Food and service were excellent and quickly served. Staff were attentive and joined in the spirit of the occasion. Couldn't fault it.

I highly recommend the slow boat Swansea for their Customer service, the quality of their food. You won’t regret going there for a meal.

My husband and I managed to get in without booking even though the restaurant was extremely busy. The staff were so lovely and accommodating and we were seated straight away. Food was really quickly and was not only large in portion size but it was delicious. The staff absolutely lovely and it was a pleasure speaking to them. Felt so welcomed and we had an absolutely amazing time. As busy as they were, they were run off their feet and still ensured we had the most amazing customer service. Nothing was too much trouble. We also saw they had a particularly awkward customer who was being unreasonable for no particular reason.who they dealt with in such an admirable way by ensuring that the customer was happy even with all they were dealing with. Probably one of the nicest and most welcoming restaurants we’ve ever been to and we will definitely be going back. The staff were such lovely and wonderful people and we were so grateful for all they did for us as customers.

We visited last night for a family birthday and all of us had the Xmas menu would have to say everything was absolutely perfect l, food cooked amazingly, staff were helpful and food was served quickly

We usually always go to the wild swan but as it’s closed we thought we would try this place We ordered a few things they messed up the order from the start the food was inedible I had a gross vile smell and none of the other food was inedible either only thing that was was the prawn crackers absolutely disgusting will never go again and was still charged for this monstrosity

Absolutely disgusted, that staff that were left in charge have no idea of family meals, I have eaten in this restaurant many times and had a family gathering there, the usual manager was away and it’s gone to pot, the staff have no idea, we were met by a very inexperienced staff and ended having a wonderful meal at the wild swan, losing atleast £200, well I think your stall has cost you a lot of trade n money, hope your manager comes home soon , you were empty and wild swan was full

We last visited here 28 years ago. It is a well known restaurant. However it was very quiet here on a Tuesday evening in January. Great Spring Rolls £4.75, Noodle with Bean Sprout £4.95, Veg Fried Rice £3.95 and delicious Duck in Cantinise Sauce. We were very happy with these. However the Satay Chicken Skewers £6.45 were dry and looked as if they had been re heated. Fair prices and friendly staff but not the quality of food we remember all those years ago.

Visited 7-12-22 for lunch time menu only £7.95pp To start ribs a crispy seaweed then Chicken and mushroom Crispy Beef Egg fried rice Noodles and bean sprouts all hot and very tasty, lovely staff great service 😊

Visited 20th September for a family birthday. Lovely welcome by staff. Fantastic menu with lots of tempting dishes. We had 2 starters to share spring rolls and satay chicken which were gorgeous. For mains we had sizzling steak Cantonese, crispy beef mixed meat chow mein and crispy chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce plus sides. One of the best meals we have had out in a long time you wont be disappointed at all. Staff friendly and attentive! We will be back soon

Our party arrived for a late dinner with a disabled guest. Staff were nothing but helpful and accommodating. The food was fantastic, service was prompt and friendly. I would fully recommend.

Final meal before spending a few days in the area. The selection of starters was very tasty but the best was the sizzling fillet steak with Cantonese sauce. The beef was was so tender. Excellent service. Not the cheapest but worth every penny.

I ate here earlier tonight and all of the food was cooked to perfection and the atmosphere was so calm and stunning. But aside from the food, the staff were absolutely lovely and so kind and charismatic. It was amazing! 14/10 would go again!

Just wanted to leave a review for all to see. We come here a lot, not once have we had a bad meal. You can visit most places and have that one good meal, but it takes a great restaurant to uphold that positive experience. Always have very good food whilst visiting this restaurant. The staff are very friendly too. They are always willing to help you with any of your concerns. The place has changed, it is 1/2 the size it was, a wall now blocking off the right hand side of the restaurant. It might be worth me posting some examples … Previously you walked in, was a guy playing a grand piano, you would be offered a seat to have a drink, now straight to table … The lighting is a tad too dim, needs to be a bit brighter. Ordered Crispy Aromatic duck …. Previously waiter would with impressive chopsticks skill would build the first pancake up for each person. Now food just placed on table …and you are left to it. Previously you would have a wrapped pack of chopsticks resting on a ceramic stand, we had to ask for chopsticks and they were just placed unwrapped on the table cloth. The menu is very significantly reduced, limited choice. The staff were efficient and friendly. The food in general was good, those one of the mains (Chicken with Cantonese sauce) tasted more like a cheap take away dish, in fact it was the only dish we left uneaten. The sizzling steak was very good, as was the crispy beef, the mushrooms with garlic. We enjoyed the meal, and yes we will return again. It has however dropped significantly in standards of ‘presentation’ …. a pity, as The Slow Boat was always a really good night out.

Service was slow,no interaction with staff, and although the food was very nice I was put off after visiting the toilets, cobwebs,dirt,and unclean toilets were a massive put off!!!!!!!made me think of the hygiene level as this was a build up of more than a few missed cleaning issues!!!!

Went with my Dad in the evening, both absolutely loved it. Food was excellent - particularly the seafood noodles - and reasonably priced, staff were attentive and friendly and would recommend to anyone in the area.

Not impressed at all. We waited 25 mins past our booking time for a table even tho there was tables free. No drinks offered while we waited . The food was bland/underseasoned, nothing tasted authentic or of good quality. The staff were massively disorganised and seemed to spend the whole time rushing around and achieving nothing. Also the staff wasn't to be approached or spoken too as there was only 1 lady who would deal with any ones orders.

My family and I have just been to the New Slow Boat High St. We haven't been here for many yrs, but omg the staff are so friendly, the food is absolutely amazing, prices are so reasonable, the small things like finger bowls and wipes, complementary prawn crackers, all goes a long way. It knocks patches off another local chinese in the marina area, thank you all, x🥰👍

It was very average. The lunchtime menu is so much better. Firstly what on earth have you done to your ribs? Ribs should be long and full of meat - what we got was chunks of bone - not at all appetising. Hubby and I had the set meal for two the chicken meal was tasteless. Pork wasn’t much better. Crispy beef was good. Kids chose their own meals - the steak dish was nice enough the veggie dish was again tasteless. Probably the last time we’ll come in the evening. There’s other Chinese restaurants to try. Hopefully with more choice such as a chop suey.

This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff are also really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making their customers happy is their main priority. Food is fantastic some Cantonese classics and some twists, and for their prices it’s 100% worth it. The day before our visit the owner and her husband were viciously attacked by thugs, both required hospital treatment for facial injuries and broken bones. This did not stop them opening the restaurant. Thank you Definitely 5 stars

Stopped off in Swansea after been on the south coast this is a gem of place The manager was so helpful and very accommodating service that you don’t seem to get to often these days. The food was amazing just wish this was in Nottingham.

Visited The Slow Boat in Swansea for lunch. Had the set menu which was very reasonable. The food was good and the portion size ample. Service was excellent and you were not rushed in any way. Would certainly go again when in the area

A Meal I shall never forget. The Presentation and Service was 1st Class. There was no rush and time was allowed for a break between courses. The portions were very generous and meant we had to ask for some to be packed for us to take-away - "no cooking when we arrived home the next day". This was one Cantonese Restaurant I shall never forget and go back to Swansea just to enjoy another meal here.

Table for 4 booked at 6pm opening time. It was like stepping back in time to the 70s and there was a musty smell which was off putting. Shown to our seats orders taken by a competent waitress who offered advise when asked but wasn’t friendly. There was no faulting the food the ribs were outstanding, lettuce wrap delicious the crispy beef was melt in the mouth. Unfortunately the place looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for months there was a build up of dust and grime around the edges of the carpet, it just looked unclean. Fabulous meal won’t be going back unless they get the cleaners in.

Visited here on Saturday when Wales were playing England, (really bad forward planning!) so very quiet and we didn't see how the staff would cope if stressed with a full house...however the staff were all extremely friendly and attentive. We had the special set menu with the crispy duck....everything was delicious and plentiful. There were 6 in our party and we ordered the set meal for 6, and really the portions were so good we could've managed with a serving for 5 and had some left over...they were very generous portions. There was so much left over that we asked the staff to pack it for us so we could take it home...they willingly obliged. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and the background music unobtrusive and appropriate...a nice place to eat some delicious Chinese food. This was our first time eating at this restaurant and we think it is great. Highly recommend and will return!

We visited on a Sunday evening and had no trouble getting a table - it was pretty quiet in there. We'd parked in the large public car park down by the Odeon cinema and walked - took us about 5 minutes. We could have parked on the road outside if we'd wanted to move the car. No access problems that I noticed. (I forgot to check the width of the front door.)

Went with a friend after an afternoon at the football. Starters were fresh and delicious. Our soups were flavoursome. We had the crispy noodles with mixed meats which were fantastic. Will definitely go back if in Swansea

The New Slow Boat is Swansea's hidden gem! Hands down the best Chinese restaurant in Swansea. The food is delicious, generously portioned and reasonably priced. Owners Vivian and Jacky and staff are always friendly and attentive. Beautiful decor, amazing food and 10/10 service- highly recommended👍!

we had a takeaway from here on Saturday night. it was lush.my partner had deep fried king prawns in batter with sweet and sour sauce. I had chicken curry. we shared a fried rice portion. we also had prawn crackers.( they came free) we we walked in we were greeted by very friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. we will go back again on our next visit to Swansea.

After a bit of a bad press lately (mainly via Swansea City Council's "Biased" "Unfair" & "utterly Ridiculous" hygiene rating scheme!!) We decided to give our favourite haunt a visit (for the umpteenth time!) And i have to say we were not disappointed!! Service was impeccable and the mountains of food we were served were without doubt the best around.Everything was cooked to perfection and nothing was wasted.Very Tasty Dishes and Excellent Service with Reasonable Prices,this is not a restaurant to be overlooked if you want beautiful food & fantastic service but without the hefty bill then The New Slow Boat is the place to visit.We shall all be returning again very soon and i'll add a little foot note of "Don't always believe what you read" as i feel it appropriate to emphasise this point because we all have visited this place ever since it opened and have never had a bad experience.Hat's off to the Management and staff and keep up the good work!!

A last minute decision to visit somewhere new paid off when we decided on this restaurant. We went quite early in the evening and with no other customers present we were a little concerned that we had made a wrong choice with the empty tables not creating a warming ambience. However, as soon as the ribs arrived all negative thoughts were dismissed and stayed away as every dish in the "Dinner for 4" menu was served and consumed eagerly. Really lovely food. Xie Xie.

When you walk into this restaurant from High Street Swansea you are entering another world. It is beautifully decorated, the tables are colourfully laid. The whole room is neat but welcoming,as are the staff. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. You, like us, will go back again and again.

What a find! Had a lovely meal here, the staff were very attentive. We went on a Friday, didn`t need to book because it was quite empty but soon filled up over the course of the evening, would definitely recommend.

Booked to go on New Years Eve with family and friends and did not find out the zero rating until after I booked. To be honest though, we didn't worry too much as this rating is not only for the food hygiene, but for other things too e.g. keeping paper work updated etc. So we gave it a go!

Had a meal here last night, food was fatty, cheap and drinks were flat. As I was leaving the restaurant feeling quite sick I noticed one of the waitresses stuck the zero star hygiene sticker back on the window. I believe this to be a clear attempt to hide such a vital piece of comsumer information. Wouldn’t recommend. Awful

Zero star food hygiene rating, sticker taken off window to hide food hygiene rating during business hours. Company has been reported to the council and still repeat offend and take it off the warning after several warnings. Food was plain, cold and bland.

We had lunch here one damp lunchtime. There is a special menu for lunch from 12 till 2pm, it costs £5.95. From the moment we walked through the door of this restaurant it was a lovely experience. The staff were very friendly and efficient, the food was great, and the restaurant is very attractive. Our lunch really cheered up a miserable day.

Ate here with family as they had been previously and we really weren't disappointed. We had the crispy beef - delicious, king prawn chow mein and a chicken dish. It was all absolutely delicious. The girls bringing the food are so friendly and helpful and can't do enough to make sure everything is perfect. Would definitely recommend.

I can not fault this restaurant. The servings were plentiful and the food tasted amazing! As a vegetarian the variety of food to pick from was excellent. I will definitely be coming back again.
