My husband and I have always supported this pub when we stay on holiday even after the community bought shares..!!! Kathy was excellent, the food was excellent and the beer was excellent. Sadly the community have sold and a greedy owner has now taken it on putting the rent way above anyones budget.. This now means that the Tenant will probably leave with nothing and it will then be turned into a house.. The usual story for these greedy Landlords. Kathy has tried her very best.

Filthy, run down, garden full of weeds, they were the first impressions on arrival. Inside was even worse. Not a single customer although it was 1.30pm Sunday lunchtime on a bank holiday weekend. Landlady was miserable and was watching a large t.v. that was placed on a stool next to her in the bar. No food being served and even if there was, the place was so dirty, with an unpleasant smell, that nobody in their right mind would have wanted to eat there. We left without even buying a drink it was that bad!! This pub used to be brilliant, packed full of locals and tourists. It was spotlessly clean and the atmosphere was lively and fun. Such a shame things have changed so drastically. This is an honest review written after a visit on 25th August 2024.

A Hidden Gem with Exceptional Hospitality Last weekend, I found myself in an unexpected situation while out on a bike ride with a friend. We encountered a mechanical issue with one of our bikes, which brought our ride to an abrupt halt. Fortunately, we were near The New Inn in Manaccan, Cornwall, and decided to pop in for a coffee and some soft drinks while we attempted to make repairs. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The landlady and locals were incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to assist us. Not only did they provide us with the necessary tools to try and fix the bike, but they also offered valuable advice and moral support throughout the process. Although we weren’t able to get the bike fully repaired, the experience at The New Inn was truly memorable. The cozy ambiance, delicious drinks, and exceptional hospitality made a potentially stressful situation much more enjoyable. The New Inn is a little out of the way, but it is well worth a visit. Whether you're a cyclist in need of a pit stop or simply looking for a charming pub with great service, this place is a hidden gem in Cornwall. We are extremely grateful to the staff and locals for their kindness and support, and we look forward to visiting again under happier circumstances. Highly recommended!

Whilst out walking we came across this pub. Opened on time at 12. You can’t get food on a Wednesday which is worth remembering. No cider and no snacks available but we could and did have coffee. Very nice lady behind the bar but no other customers whilst we were there. Coffee very good. Shame about the lack of food but they do say no food on Wednesdays. 😁☕️

This is a very nice community owned pub. Food is good. If you are doing the lovely round walk from Helford to St Anthony and back to Helford, this is a great place to stop off part way round. The welcome you get depends a bit on who of the community is serving that day. The last time I went I mentioned to my wife “Lovely pub, but I don’t think I’m Tory enough for it”. Daily Mail readers especially welcome; Daily Mirror readers less so.

Cycled up hill and down dale in search of a decent Sunday carvery, in a welcoming and friendly pub. Picked 'The New Inn' as service was longer than others in the area, and we like peace over packed. We made the right choice it seems! Lovely cozy, chilled out atmosphere, really friendly Landlady, staff and locals at the bar (unlike our own local😔). Fab traditional food served in the little restaurant, and a pool table 🎱👌 we will certainly be back, it's worth the long trek if simply for the warm and welcoming vibe. Lovely looking pub and lots of outdoor seating, very excited when we arrived only to be told rather abruptly that lunch stopped at 2.30pm, despite their website clearly stating 3pm and we arrived at 2.40pm. The landlady was not apologetic when I pointed this out and expressed (politely) our disappointment after having walked 1.5 hours to get there - she simply said we were in the middle of nowhere what do you expect. We then met some other diners (or would be diners I should way) who had actually arrived at 2.30pm but then no-one came out to take their order and were then told the kitchen had closed! They were then served some expired crisps... Not great hospitality. We also thought the exclusive "you can't sit with us" vibe of the "member's only area" right at the entrance making you walk past it was a bit odd. All in all probably wouldn't return, but has lots of potential.

Really bad experience here. Told we couldn’t order any food as the kitchen had closed (5 mins before we arrived). That would’ve been fair enough had the owners not proceeded to tuck into their own roast dinner right in front of our group. Rude and unprofessional to say the least. Service was unfriendly and poor when there was any. Our drinks orders were completely wrong on two separate occasions. We were also told we had to sit outside due to covid as there was no space inside the pub. The Landlord assured us we would be invited in when there was room inside. However, we were forgotten about and had to go and ask again after sitting outside in the cold for two hours before they let us in. Also clearly over serving people and our group was harassed by a blind drunk man who couldn’t string a sentence together. Did not feel welcome at all. Save yourself the bother and go to the Shipwright Arms or Five Pilchards in Porthallow instead. They are much friendlier pubs.
