As soon as we arrived we were earmly greeted by the gentlemen behind the bar, we enquired about food as there were many reserved signs about and he led us to a free table. He offered to start us a tab which was kind as we weren't regulars we simply stumbled on this place as we were on the road during a three hour journey south. We were given the usual menu and a seasonal menu, selection was good with vegan and vegetarian options. My partner had the gammon with options of two eggs two pineapple or one of each which I thought was a nice choice for a change. I went from the seasonal menu and had home made beef stroganoff again with side options of fries, rice or half and half which is what i went for. My dear people when the menu said choice cuts of beef they didn't lie it was tender the sauce creamy and on a cold night that tingle of mustard or horseradish whatever they used was awesome! I had read a review regarding their generous portion sizes and they were not mistaken there my partner and I struggled to finish everything but I personally was not letting any of this go to waste. Even my partner's meal, she ate all but a couple of chips. We paid just over £30 total including drinks for the two of us. Really lovely place, friendly staff, stunning food and a lovely country pub feel to it, as my partner put it "if these walls could talk I wonder what stories they could share."

I will start with the positives, the mains were very nice, I go the hunters chicken, the chicken burger, the fish and chips and the scampi, they were all good but the problem was the desert, we got the lemon meringue pie, the chocolate lumpy bumpy and the blackcurrant crumble. The crumble was fine, but the lemon meringue pie was half frozen and the lumpy bumpy tasted of chemicals and was almost inedible

Gorgeous Pub on the A5 north of Weedon at the side of a canal with a working Grand Union Canal lock, Beware, at speed you may blink and miss it. Pub Car park just before the venue on the northbound side of the A5, a large lay by prior to that, there is also parking north of the pub immediately after the A5 canal bridge though this also serves canal traffic. Lovely people, lovely atmosphere, lovely building. Good real Ale and other standard offerings, Fabulous food all at reasonable cost.

Popped in to have food with the family. Which was lovely, we all enjoyed it. The staff were very pleasant when ordering. So thank you. However.. the constant swearing at the bar was disgusting. To eat our food whilst listening to that was horrendous.. for the bar staff to also include swearing in the conversation wasn’t good either. Thank god the kids weren’t here on this particular visit. I sadly won’t be coming back or recommending. Such a shame, as it’s a lovely pub in a perfect location. Maybe teach your staff to keep this under control.

This was the third time I have visited the New Inn. On the first occasion a few years ago I was greeted by a surly landlord with his Parrot. He informed me that I could only have one pint because he wanted to close. Fantastic welcome... It's a great boaters pub overlooking a lock so you can watch the boats go through the lock with plenty of mooring space. My only complaint is that dogs are not allowed inside the pub which means you gave to sit outside with them and yesterday it was cold and damp but great in the summer. The food is great and plenty of different types of alcohol and non alcohol drinks.

The pub itself is nice and the staff We have been good customers on many occasions , however this time we were not impressed having booked in the morning to be told when our roast dinner came that there was no cauliflower cheese coming which normally comes in a separate dish ( the best bit for me with a beef dinner)with ours as we don't get it if we are a walk in which we were not and even so your paying for a meal with everything there is no reduction in price. Then she said they had run out we watched every other table getting there's, and we just got plain veg. It was supposed to be a celebration and I know it sounds trivial but at the end of the day it spoilt it for us arguing it out with the girl who was nice but very embarrassed as were we. We will not be going back there after many years. Customer service was not good enough. No apology. Disappointed .

Arrived early, parked in the small car park, table was pointed ut to us, didn't know you had to order at the bar, as nobody told us. Music speaker above the table and on rather loudly for a lunchtime. Serving staff were under 18 as we had to get the drinks from the bar. We ordered, they got the order for mains wrong so one person waited for the right dinner to be served, veg were cooling whilst we waited. The staff didn't clear away and then said they needed the table - could we move somewhere else for coffee and desserts, we were told there was nowhere to seat us. We got the bill and left pronto and won't be going back. We had coffee and dessert at the 1867 just a few hundred yards down the road. It was wonderful, helpful staff, excellent food and a lovely atmosphere. Next time we meet half way guess where we will be going??

Last time they said they were fully booked when every table was empty.... this time we turned up at 7.45pm and they said the kitchen was too busy (there wasnt that many people in the pub to feed) The food is mean to be nice hence why we try each time we pass on our boat. We have been here to eat many times over the years but this time when taking a houseguest with us to eat at 7 45pm we were met with "well you'd better hurry up and order but we don't have this or that on the menu" which basically meant all they had was lasagne or burgers which none of us wanted! So we just ordered a drink each and when our Scottish guest tried to pay with Scottish money he was told "no we don't take Scottish money..we know its legal tender but we don't have to take it if we don't want to" Talk about being prejudiced and rude!
