Picked up a takeaway while visiting for the 2024 F1 British Grand Prix. Best Sweet & Sour Chicken Cantonese Style I’ve had - highly recommend!

Excellent food, we specially enjoyed the duck, and very good value. Annie the waitress was friendly efficient and gave us a free top up of the very tasty jasmine tea.

They do have good food but they do not communicate with their customer. For example when they are close for business. Nobody knows. You check online and it says they are open. No voice message to tell you they are not operating or open. Causing you to drive there and Wasting fuel. Only to get there and they are close. happy chef you have a phone for the business ,live a voice note if you are not open. You might loose customers the moment another type of your business is open in Daventry. I have started looking for options . That is why I will you 2 star for atmosphere and 1star for service. As communication is part of service

Pop into happy chef several times for a late night dinner after work. And always had a good meal. Food freshly made and delicious. Highly recommend.

My wife tried to place an order and was told she was banned! Yes banned! This business must have lot's of money and can't take honest criticism about the food. I was and still a professional cater . I have owned catering businesses in the past and have taken criticism from customer's took into on the chin and learnt from it. If the food went out right we would not criticise. I would not expect customers to eat burnt over cooked food. I would employ more kitchen staff. If they can't handle criticism they shouldn't be in business. Will not be ordering again!!! We gave them another go and this how we got treated. There is an old saying customer's are your business if you have no customers you have no business.

The food here was fantastic, the customer service was fabulous. The only thing that made me downgrade the score from a 5 to a 4 is the false advertising unfortunately. So on arrival it stated happy hour evening was £8pp yet the menu inside stated £9pp also we had spare ribs which on the menu stated we should get 5 per portion yet we received 4 each. Luckily this was more than enough food for us but anything in black and white should be consistent with that's received or paid. Aside from that, I will return, the food was lovely and nicely presented.

Best Chinese food in town by a long way. 100% recommend!

When you walk in it is a takeaway with two rows of wooden tables to the left of the counter. We had prebooked so our table was nicely set out. The lady serving was very cheerful, friendly and helpful. We chose the two set meals for two people which seemed right for the four of us. They do a small selection of beer, wine etc. The food was delicious. The starters were served and there was an interval before main dishes were served. It was all hot. We were so very surprised by the whole experience. It was wonderful. I highly recommend a visit. We will definitely go again.

First time ordering from here after moving to Dav 6 months ago. I have to say it was extremely disappointing, you know it is not good when driving home you don't enjoy the smell in your car. The food tasted as if it was cooked in burnt oil, the sweet and sour hong Kong chicken was dry and when chewing became stringy in your mouth and the curry sauce was thick and had the consistency of mushy peas. The chilli salted chips lacked flavour and over cooked. This reminded me left overs. Massively disappointing and will stick to your competitors on the Grange.

Fab food, nice clean seated area indoors and even a choice to sit outside. The staff are great, so friendly and helpful. Extensive menu, plenty of choices, fair pricing, snd everything the 4 of us ordered was brilliant. Highly recommended.

The food tastes amazing and there isn't much else I can say other than it being delicious. The food isn't too spicy nor too mild which makes it even better.

Ordered a delivery at 17.58 its now 20.35 for a take away which is only 5 minutes up the road. I was told when I ordered it was busy and delivery time would be an hour & a half which I accepted but to wait over 2 and a half hours is unacceptable so cancelled the order. Shame really as its a good Chinese and have ordered there before without any issues. But I won't be ordering from there again.

We had a takeaway from here last night it was the best Chinese takeaway iv had in ages, the customer service was brilliant I called up 20minites before there closing time wile on our way back and they made it ready for when we arrived back into town at 10pm witch was there closing time

Amazing food- different to the stuff you get from all the other places. Like they actually make the food from scratch rather than putting together ingredients from the local cash and carry! My new favourite Chinese.

We love Happy Chef. I drive 12 miles to get a takeaway from there. The young girl behind the counter is always cheery and very efficient. Happy Chef has stuck with it through the pandemic, and have served the community well. Thank you for what you do.

Myself and 2 friends had gone fishing on the local reservoir and told to try this place as they deliver to the gate. I've never been so disappointed ever with a takeaway. I ordered chicken and beef curry with fried rice and they ordered 2 chicken and mushroom currys, chicken balls and dry spare ribs. Firstly the curry had no flavour and looked like they had just through it together and it even came with mushrooms so the curry was all watery, yak. I also tried there chicken balls which tasted greecy and also no seasoning. The dry ribs were a little better but had hardly any meat on apart from gristle. Not a very good first impression I must say, waited about 1hr an half also. Wont be eating from here again. Was going to ring up and complain but it would have taken them ages.to collect meal back.

Collection is always fast however delivery will normally take over a hour, food always nice and hot and seem to always get a little freebie

Great Chinese restaurant food is excellent and the service is great with reasonable prices!

It is mainly a takeaway with an eating area consisting of long wooden tables and comfortable dining chairs. Not a place one would take a girlfriend for an intimate dinner, but the service was efficient, the food excellent, and prices reasonable. It does Chinese and Thai food (note the small wooden elephant by the counter). The Thai green curry had the authentic Thai flavour.

Easily one of the worst Chinese takeaways I have had the displeasure of eating, awful communication and terribly lacking any semblance of true customer service. My wife ordered Pad-Thai being gluten free that is the only thing she could eat, low and behold she was given an incorrect meal. Chicken balls are hard and seriously chewy, chow mien tasted bland and greasy, they couldn't even make decent egg fried rice! Was not offered a refund for the incorrect meal unless we drove over 11 miles to drop it off again. At least get your staff to re-read the order back to your customer upon collection to avoid these mistakes. Rude staff to boot. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

One of the best chinese restaurants for food quality, price and service. The tables are a little Spartan but comfortable.

Pitiful. Any "professional" chinese kitchen that can't do egg fried rice properly should close their doors. Ribs were overcooked and slightly burnt. Curry was average. I was guided by the reviews here in my choice of takeaway last night and I have to say I can't believe the number of good reviews they have. First and last time I'll go there.

Delivery driver turned up with no change. Driver went off for 10 minutes with my food to turn back up with change and my cold food what looked like he had dropped leaked all in the bag . So I called up and got told the food would be changed then the delivery man asked for the food back and give me my money back great at 11:55 when I wanted food. I used them 3-4 times a week never again

Had takeaway on a Saturday night, was veery tasty! Staff was friendly and the food was done the time I was told over the phone. Would recommend!

Fantastic Food. Bit Pricey But worth it! one thing though. this takeaway needs to get online and have an ordering system. we use open menu and that does not save our order to cart.
