Looked like quite a nice place, went in and saw they had Guinness on draught and asked for 2 pints. First red flag was the lack of Guinness glasses (yes I’m that snob) Second was the state of the pour, definitely didn’t double pour it Third was the bubbles… it shouldn’t look like ice cream on top and it tasted as bad as it looked. I’m aware this isn’t a Guinness pub but if you’re selling it you should at least know how to pour a pint. Genuinely took a couple of sips and left the rest. Worst Guinness in Manchester for sure.

Now officially my favorite bar in Manchester. Staff are knowledgeable and excellent, the offerings are well chosen and beautifully presented. Next door to 2 or 3 famous Manchester venues it still has the allure of the secret place that you alone know about. Visit before the rest of the world catches on.

Although the food from Onda was very nice, the experience was nothing short of atrocious. There is no warning that when you spend your £30+ on a ticket for their relatively small tasting menu, you’ll be sat 2 metres away from a ‘party’ with the most obnoxiously loud speakers and music you’ll encounter. There’s also no wall, no divider, nothing. People next to us were literally sat in between people at this party stood talking and drinking. You can’t hear the person sat half a metre from you on the other side of the table. On top of this, we asked for some water 3 times, it never came. When we pressed the matter with the waitress we ordered with, she said ‘sorry I’m only on the floor I can’t get the water from the bar’. So, although the food was lovely, props to Onda, and generally the bar staff were also very polite, the ‘floor staff’, and atmosphere were genuinely terrible. I don’t think we’ll be coming back at that price.

Fantastic experience. So good we came here twice in one evening! The young girl with yellow / gold t shirt knew her beers and menu and was great at up selling. Fantastic falafel pitta salad and delicious fries. Great tasting Factotum beer and a Pilsner too! Good times :-)

This is a low key hidden gem! It’s become my go to bar in the area, friendly staff, good beer selections.. chilled atmosphere, sometimes DJs and omg the Greek style pitta kebabs and falafels .. up there with what I’ve had in Athens. I wish them every success x

It's a shame it's always cold in there. 3 times I've been, 3 times freezing and very drafty. Cold atmosphere. Something is missing but I can't tell what... A bit overpriced too.

Big open empty space. Might have been bad timing?! Lots of potential here but unfortunately it felt like I was at someones wake... I would still try again though as service was good and hopefully I'll get a nicer choice of ale.

Wow. What amazing food, what a space. It is early days so the place is building up gently. This place is a foodies delight and a destination restaurant. Morocco meets Syria meets Spain meets the local garden farmer

In my opinion, The New Cross is absolutely everything you want from a night out. You feel great the moment you walk in the door. There's space to dance or have a sit down. And they serve an excellent Melon by the glass.

The restaurant is really well decorated and the staff were great. It was quite busy when we went but the staff were really attentive but the food and drinks were fresh and delicious. Great customer service and excellent food, I will definitely recommend to others and will be returning again.

I stayed here from Sunday through to Tuesday. It did not rain. I did not hear or see an emergency vehicle. There was a fair bit of banter. I found this hotel's staff brilliantly individuals who work together to give great service when the curtain goes up. Photographs of my room show a clean well thought through offer, outstanding bed and bathroom linen. I love the modern take on the doormans chair , a sort of arm chair with a hood. I have seen a similar one near Exeter at chef Michael Caines manor house hotel. They originated from a Scottish design , I think. Plenty of marble and marble effect in the bathrooms. My room only had a shower, a very effective one too. I am too old to skid about in a bath. I thouroghly enjoyed a cooked breakfast here and Sunday lunch. I can find minor faults in certain aspects, but overall I really enjoyed my stay. It's in a great part of the city, great shopping and many very good places to eat and drink. I also went to Browns bistro round the corner, and to Moose cafe also nearby on York street. Manchester is untouristy on Monday and less so Tuesday. Museums are shut , the hop on hop off buses don't run. There are a few exceptions, the Central Library is open, Science and industry museum is open , though with a limited offer at the moment. On Mondays they both resemble creches with many running riot and having fun. It's a lovely diverse city, and has very much to offer. There are two free city bus routes. 1 and 2. Linking railway stations and the best parts of the city for a visitor And they run 7 days a week. The concierge at the hotel are fun, know their stuff , but perhaps not brilliant at imparting what you need to know. But jolly and kind and helpful. They will have to work on mind reading. I appreciated Nigel's help he is on the apprenticeship scheme. To me this is a perfect boutique hotel, small, private, genuine, authentic quality, with some brilliant dashes and sprinkles of passion and magic. I ate well , slept well, drank well and repeated that over 3 days.

You're not going here for food. The food is passable. Seems like microwaved chips style dressed up a bit. Drinks are good, though, and there is quite often live music every visit I've gone (Friday's) very spacious downstairs and a bit cramped upstairs when busy Honeycomb pale ale was nice

I know Fierce beer from their Aberdeen taproom. They do really great beers. This place looks small from the outside but it does have a first and second floor (which weren’t in use when we went). Serving a wide range of their own beers as well as cocktails, and a beer fridge for beer to go.
