Been before and enjoyed, however this time only 1 waitress and had to wait 45mins to order and a further 15 for food= too long and then ruined the experience, which was my dad’s birthday. We weren't informed of the wait, or the specials, lacked good customer service.

Really enjoyed. We had been here a few years ago and were disappointed but delighted we returned as we had a lovely meal. The pub has great atmosphere and couldn't fault the service. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the lamb was slightly tough not bad enough to spoil the meal.

Disappointed meal having spent hours on tripadvisor searching for some lovely evening meals whilst staying in Cardigan. Lovely ambience and staff. Starters were fine but my main which was pan fried sea bream was tiny and overcooked. However the main disappointment was the thick Passatta the bream sat on. It would have been nice to have put something else in the tomato sauce as this just wasn’t nice. The waitress kindly asked if they should let chef know but i didn’t want to make a fuss in front of other guests. The pudding of Malteser ice cream sundae was simply and yummy. I should have gone with battered fish and chips but thought having had really good reviews I thought the chef would be really good. I think possibly very busy with the bank holiday trade.

What a wonderful surprise the food at The Nags Head was! Four of us booked a table for a birthday celebration and cannot fault it. Delicious and varied menu and cooked to perfection. Three steaks, all cooked extremely well and were ordered from rare to well done. The other person had red thai curry with jasmin rice, it was so full of flavour. The host was friendly and couldn't do enough for us, the serving staff were also helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was cooked to perfection and just enough to keep us going to our next stop. Really looking forward to another trip here. We all would certainly recommend it.

A regular haunt, this pub has yet to disappoint. On this occasion the five of us, plus dog, sat outside, at one of the covered riverbank tables. Two of us were on “dry” August (?!) and were able to select from a range of zero alcohol offerings, and the menu offered a good range of choices for us all. It’s quite a varied menu, more so than the usual gastro pub offering. I had a katsu chicken burger which was delicious. The staff were lovely and the location is fab. The pub is as nice indoors (no dogs) as outdoors. It was recently voted Pembrokeshire pub of the year. Highly recommended.

Please read the review of our experience below and the reply from the proprietor - make up your own mind! Good Morning, Just to say we were a fairly disappointed with our Sunday lunch yesterday. We booked online in advance to meet my wife's father for Sunday lunch at the Nags Head, we had stopped off for a snack and a drink a couple of weeks earlier and thought it was a lovely venue so that is why we booked for yesterday. When ordering food we were asked if we would like cauliflower cheese with our food, obviously we agreed later only to be told that "apologies cauliflower cheese was no longer available" ! When the roast lunches arrived I cannot express how disappointed we were to observe there was one roast potato, one parsnip, a teaspoon of mash etc, we were then a little more pleased as a cauliflower cheese arrived, 2 minute later removed as we were informed "that it was not for us" , the roast beef was dry and the chicken breast had large bones in it - disappointed we decided to not order dessert and as it was so noisy (big family gathering next to us with lots of crying babies & shouting children - obviously not your fault but so loud we couldn't talk) we moved outside to finish a couple of drinks. we were really disappointed and after talking to some of our friends though it best to pass this info back for your comments We are not complainers and just hope to make you aware of our experience Mark, Claire & Dad Response received Hi Mark, Having now had time to investigate your feedback further, I would like to apologise on behalf of the Nags Head team for these issues. Firstly, I would like to say that this is very unusual, with the majority of feedback always being positive, especially from last Sunday where we served 175 people and in the region of 150 roast lunches. However, we did experience a couple of issues, as a result of numerous late bookings and last minute walkins (which makes staffing and food prep challenging), hence the reason why we ran out of cauliflower cheese. We also had an inexperienced waitress taking your food order on this occasion, and she was embarrassingly not made aware soon enough by the kitchen that we had run out of cauliflower cheese. Secondly, the roast beef is cooked slowly in our Rational Combi ovens overnight, and should not have been dry, the chicken we serve on a Sunday is a good quality Chicken Supreme breast, which contains the breast bone. Once again you should have been informed about the chicken on ordering by the waitress, and I will update our menu to reflect that detail. Finally, it's a shame you didn't inform us of the table location issue (noisy party), we could have tried to move you to a quieter table, although that would have been a challenge as we were fully booked inside for most of the service. As a gesture of goodwill and hopefully to make up for your disappointment, I would like to post you a Nags Head voucher for use on another occasion, and would require your home address to do so please. Part of my reply below I have noted that you did not comment on the one roast potatoe, one parsnip and a teaspoon of mash, are we to take it that this is the norm ? If so despite your kind offer of a voucher I’ll think we will pass.

VISIT THIS PLACE!!!!! As a reviewer I tend to avoid hyperbole but this is one pub I will have to put that aside for. First as a pub it is a beautiful building that has been carefully kept in keeping with its history. Inside, most room is given over to restaurant space, but there is still a little snug with a fire out the back. The food is exceptionally good by any standard but I think the use of local ingredients and a deft imagination in recipes raises it to more of a Michelin standard. So happy were we, that we decided to stay the night in one of their charming rooms and indulge in an excellent breakfast. Just to add to the general air of joy the cost of the room was very good value. What more can I say. Oh the beer is great and the stuffed giant rat in the snug clearly thought it worth travelling from South America to sample this best of Welsh hospitality. If ever in the area go eat and stay here!

Our third and final visit to this nice pub ended on a sour note. Having enjoyed a good meal and spent over £200, we were rudely asked to leave at 10.20pm as there was nobody else in the pub. We are on holiday and have an accredited assistance dog that wears his jacket. We have been to all manner of pubs and restaurants on our travels in wales and have always been met with support and enthusiasm for our dog who is well behaved and small as he is a dachshund. Until this pub. We came here due to its reviews on trip adviser. Because we hadn’t booked I popped in to ask if they had a table and they confirmed they had, at this point I mentioned we had an assistance dog (at this point neither my wife nor the dog was with me). The waitresses looked horrified and due to not knowing what the response was referred me to a gentleman behind the bar. To say he begrudgingly acceded is an understatement, his tone and response was ‘yes that’s fine’ whilst clearly wanting to say no. I went and fetched my wife and our dog as they had waited in the car, to say I almost just got into my car and left is again an understatement however we were hungry and the place has good reviews. When we went in we were seated in an alcove reserved for stacking high chairs and clearly out of the way. Only upon paying was a positive vibe given towards our assistance dog who was being super cute and rolling on his back. The food was excellent, speed of service excellent and the location itself lovely. All of which for us was spoiled by a lack of enthusiasm to accept willingly assistance dogs. I can only imagine their dismay had he been a large Labrador. 5 stars for food and location, 2 stars for tolerance towards the equality act. Hence 3 stars overall

I had the pleasure of staying at The Nags Head a few days ago. My first impression was what a beautiful pub in a lovely location. The inside more than matched the exterior. A beautiful layout with rustic furnishings. The staff were attentive and the service was super fast. I ordered a small coffee and it came out what practically felt like seconds later. A bug bear is having to wait ages for table water. Again, literally seconds after we asked for water iy was on the table. Sounds minor but it's this level of detail that sets apart good from great places. Very impressive to say the least. Having read other reviews I admittedly had high expectations on the food. I was not disappointed. My wife and I both ordered the lamb and it was delicious, as were the starters. This was tasty good food that felt reasonably priced too given the quality. In summary I loved this place and hope to visit again should we ever return to the area some day. Thank you for helping to make our anniversary weekend as special as it was.

Without doubt, the best Sunday lunch we have had in any pub/restaurant. The place itself is lovely that's before even mentioning the youngsters who make up the serving staff. What a great bunch. Then there's the food. Oh lord. Roast turkey with all the trimmings....

Excellent old pub with character. Comfortable restaurant area. We had fish and chips for dinner, which was not the best. Minted mushy peas and home-made style tartar sauce a nice touch but the fish did not appear to be as fresh as it could be....

Wonderfully located pub in a quiet corner, right next to the river, where you can take the kids to look at the water's edge. Food was very tasty and staff knowledgeable on allergens.

Went here for Sunday lunch today with family. Delicious food in a lovely covered seating area, next to very pretty river. I only live 30 minutes away and didn't know this place existed. We will definitely be back!

Thinking of somewhere nice to go for lunch on a damp November day in St Davids and we automatically chose The Shed. My wife had a fabulous seafood stew. I wasn't as hungry as usual so I had an aubergine and seafood curry: a dish that I had not sampled previously, and it was very good. We also had a bottle each of the local stout, Diod Dewi, which was excellent; and we finished off with an americano, for me, and a pistachio ice-cream cream for her. Despite the weather our visit to Porthgain, one of our favourite places in our favourite county, was very worthwhile.

The food here was the best I've had in a long time. We had the smash burger and the chicken burger and swapped chunky fries for skin on fries. Absolutely delicious, we couldn't stop ooing and ahing the whole meal. Burgers came with an onion ring, side salad with tasty dressing and small pot of coleslaw. So good I might go again tonight! Finally our waiter was charming, I wish I could remember his name.

This was a gem of a B&B. The best value you’ll find on this stretch of the coastal path. Lovely rooms, excellent breakfast and central to Marloes and St Brides beaches and Skomer trips. You have the added benefit of staying in a traditional village with thatched cottage and a very nice pub restaurant. The owner kindly gave me a lift to the Skomer visitor centre when it looked like I might be late for the boat. Highly recommended.
