Walked in... waited for around 4 mins. Someone was scrubbing something out back. Had a table of people sat in the corner vaping. So walked out.

Good range of beers and a lively social life - very good local pub and atmosphere for all concerned.

Personally I don't like town pubs and this is a typical one. Friday and Saturday evenings it gets quite busy. It is near the taxi rank, so it is convenient for a last drink before heading home after an evening meal.

As a female I can honestly say that this pub is a rare find, I walked in and the atmosphere and warmth was amazing, I felt safe and welcome and the drinks were great! There was no sign of trouble despite it being a Friday night and I could tell that there was strong rules in place to protect the customers.

The bar area is great with friendly staff and a regular crowd during the day and of an evening but it's best to use the toilets at Sainsbury's, Subway or even an alleyway late at night to avoid the horrors of the Gent's Toilet within "The Hags". I have often wondered if it's the toilet there that has prompted a few fights to spill onto the street at a weekend - although they don't maintain dedicated parking if a police car visits Market Place on a Friday night they are generally visiting The Nags.

Warm, welcoming pub which tends to have an older crowd. Staff are always friendly and attentive. Music is welcoming change to the everyday hits. Great central location and defo worth grabbing a table outside when the sun is shining and watch the world go by.

Fantastic and adaptable yet expensive drinks and food. Decorations are always outstanding and is great for drive through or eating in.

We decided to try this tea room for the first time after being given an afternoon tea for 2 gift card as a birthday treat. I have to say we were more than happy with the whole experience. It was welcoming, the staff were brilliant and the surroundings were very clean. We had 2 lovely sandwiches with a salad garnish. The salad leaves were so fresh, brilliant. Followed by 2 very good fruit scones, jam and clotted cream and more little cakes on the top tier of the cake stand . Tea and coffee was also included. Thank you.

On 28th August I went to The Railway pub in Witham with some friends, there 7 of us. We were looked after by the staff there. We all had lunch, the meals were excellent & reasonably priced too. We all thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon at this lovely old pub. We hope to return there again in the future!

I went in to purchase a cheese & tomato toastie. I observed a staff member using the same tongs and same chopping board for a bacon roll and cheese toastie. Therefore I walked right out and won't be returning. This is really basic food hygiene knowledge. Hate to think what other hygiene rules they don't follow.

I was looking for somewhere local for my wife and I to visit and have a couple of drinks. By total luck, my research found this wonderful pub. It, along with the village it is in are the absolute quintessential country setting we dream of finding. There is an excellent selection of wines, beers and spirits to choose from. After making our choices, we could not ignore the great range of home cooked food on offer. We chose the cheeseboard to share and then a couple of deserts. The selection of cheese was not just out of the fridge and portions very generous. The wonderfully fresh and trimmed celery sticks along with ample bread and excellent biscuits made this a sumptuous feast which we both enjoyed. The apple and blueberry crumble along with the sticky toffee pudding were both a total delight. We will be back very soon to sample more of the great food on offer here. If you are looking for that chocolate box representation of a great English village pub with thatched roof and olde world interior, then pay the Half Moon a visit.
