The music room at the Cliff was perfect for our small wedding of 28 guests. There were curtains along each side which gave the room a more intimate setting. The acoustics were very good for our music all played from a USB stick. The screen backdrop with falling petals was lovely. The room can accommodate all different size groups and although our group was fairly small the room did not feel too big

I know this is a hotel but the drinks are far too expensive. I used to come here a lot but the prices have put me off plus I had a look at the carvery and it looked a mess. Nobody had cleaned up around the plates under the hot lamps.

Attended a private function at the "Cliff". The food was of a very good standard, although the soft drinks (for those driving) were a little on the expensive side.

This is a good venue if you want a nice Sunday carvey meal, and is well worth the money for a family meal and drinks. very close to the beach and harbour areas.

I am disgusted at the management of the Cliff Hotel, as not long after their NYE gala night, I sent in a letter of complaint, but never received so much as a sorry. This is why I have decided to post on trip advisor - advising people not to attend any future gala events such as this as it is a huge waste of money. Instead of writing out everything that was wrong, below I have copied the actual letter that I sent to the general manager Daryn Ferguson just a few days after the event; a month has now passed without so much as a letter or phone call of apology. The letter went as follows: Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to you to express my sheer disappointment in your New Year’s Eve Gala night. I think it is an absolute disgrace that you charged £39.95 per person for what you actually offered for that money, and considering we were a table of seven, that is almost £250 you made just from our table. Firstly, I would like to complain about the “hot buffet”. When we booked the evening we were told there would be a “hot buffet” consisting of many different meats, potatoes, snack foods and salad. The only thing served hot was a bowl of potato wedges and some chicken legs. The quiches, sausage rolls, meat and seafood platter were all cold, and the potato wedges and chicken legs were luke-warm at the best! We were the second table to be called up to collect food, so I feel sorry for some of the last who wouldn’t have any heat left in their food what-so-ever. The Food that was served was clearly very good quality and incredibly tasty, but when paying a lot of money for a hot buffet and disco (as there was no other form of entertainment), we expected there to be actual hot food, and plenty of it. I must also comment about the lack of variety of food you offered. On your seafood platter you had, I believe, four different options; large prawns, and three different variations of salmon. Unfortunately, I do not like salmon! I am aware this isn’t your fault, but out of four options on a seafood platter, to have three being salmon, this is incredibly disappointing! While on the subject of variety, I would also like to say that having four out of five desserts as cheesecake is appalling. Four out of the seven on our table don’t like cheesecake and so was left with a hazelnut chocolate torte, of which one of the people who doesn’t like cheesecake couldn’t eat as he has a nut allergy. All that was left for him was fruit and a cheese platter, which is fine as a choice but not good for him as he wanted something sweet for dessert. As for the rest of the evening, to be incredibly let down by the buffet it was obvious that no expense was spared when hiring the entertainment for the evening… the resident DJ? For nearly £40 a head surely there should have been some sort of entertainment on. Granted we were aware that it was only a disco, but we were expecting a lot more from the food! The money also obviously wasn’t spent on the cheap “champagne” that we all got half a glass of at midnight. Surely for that price, glasses should have been full. I understand that you are a hotel, and on New Year’s Eve prices for parties are going to be high, but I have a close friend who works in a pub in Hemsby, that was only charging £25 a head and for that they had a full meal and buffet later on in the evening, a FULL glass of bubbly, a disco, a singer and a table magician. I can clearly state that after spending New Year’s Eve with yourselves, I won’t be returning again. I find the price an absolute disgrace for what we received, and I shall be letting everyone I know not to join yourselves for the next New Year, and I know myself and my party will certainly be finding somewhere else to celebrate. This is a shame as one of the couples on our table are very local and have started making arrangements for the venue of their wedding reception, of which I can assure you that you are no longer in the running for. Yours Sincerely Mr M.A.Carver I suggest to all people reading this, if you are thinking of spending a future NYE with the Cliff Hotel, or even another of their advertised gala evenings, to save your money as shop around. Myself and my friends certainly won't be attending again.

I’ve known and been to this dynamic and friendly cafe on and off over the last 10 years or so. Whenever I’m in town, I’ll always make a beeline for the Hamburger, always enjoy the great food and drink, and all the friendly and hardworking staff, a special mention particularly to Shirley, Rachael, Claire, Kelsie, Lilly for always providing service with a smile. Now back home, I feel sad to have said goodbye for another year, and only hope that we will keep in touch, and vice versa. The atmosphere, the food, drink, service etc., is exceptional and top class! If you love American food, e.g. beef burgers, breakfasts, ice creams, other meals, I’d fully recommend that anyone reading this should make this your first priority.
