We ordered a sunday lunch staff were so welcoming ,Quick & chatty. Food was lovely. Plenty of everything. GRAVY was really tasty.. excellent service and food. We had used mountain air a few years ago. Food wasn't great tbh. But will definitely be using mountain air again and have also recommended it. Great work guys . Keep up the great customer service too.

I have not visited this pub restaurant yet, but my intention is to go there and have a mixed grill done properly. It does look very appealing I must admit.

the food didnt have alot of taste the service took a long time to serve the the chips were hard and cold the stake was chewy and they was hardly any mean on it i wouldnt pick the sterloin again if i came back was hoping for better food and quicker service even though they wasnt any people in pub

The experience i had here was overwhelmingly positive, had some of the best waitressing from a worker named nicole, the food was amazing, absolutely nothing to complain about, had an amazing time overall would visit again!

Staff are very friendly and helpful and professional. Food was hot and tasteful.

Had hair in our food and when told the staff literally didn’t do anything about it that’s 3 meals that’s gone to waste wouldn’t recommend

First time going for a meal here. The food smelt lovely while we were waiting for our lunch. Despite my mother asking could she only have peas as she doesn't like the other veg we were told it would be an extra charge. Anyway when the meals come out it tasted very bland. The roast potatoes were so well done they looked burnt. The Yorkshire pudding was hard from being well cooked too. Carrots, cabbage, cauliflower and potatoes were tasteless even tho we added salt and pepper. I will say the lamb and the gravy was nice.

Went there yesterday food was absolutely disgusting didn't even get discount told the staff and they wasn't very helpful either chips was like bullets and tasted like they been there all day neither of my kids are their food either and I'm not one to usually complain I go there all the time and will not be returning

Booked for lunch today for 3 of us We had 2 main beef dinners & my mam had a small chicken dinner. Food was really lovely service was friendly polite and very helpful. I visited this place on a number of occasions and I can honestly say every meal we have had here as been amazing.

Served my steak on a hot rock so I had to cook it myself but the rock was so hot that it was burning the outside of the steak and not cooking the middle of it I will definitely not come back here for a steak

Although I have frequented this place regularly and enjoy the food, on Saturday 02 March 2024 we were dopped off punctually by our taxi at 2.45 outside as usual, which is our regular time on a saturday when we visit the pub which for many a year opens at midday without fail as advertised. We were told by the owner, yes I know the owner, that we was not allowed to enter until 3pm because cleaning has not taken place. We asked could we come in and take a seat, any seat and not move until all was ready because it was sleeting/raining and freezing outside, which she declined. There was also a party of 10 children waiting outside in the elements with balloons, cards and a cake and no concessions were made to them even though knowing the interior layout all could be seated safely while the continuous late cleaning was going on. I will not be visiting this place as I have done so, so very regularly, so many times in the past and I urge other customers to take this review into consideration. As this if far below acceptable 'hospitality' especially where the children, cake birthday balloons and harsh weather were taken into consideration.

Went for the Tuesday, 2 mains, and 2 desserts for £20 offer, and it was very good. There were probably 6 different options to choose from, we had the 8oz gammon steak with egg chips and peas and apple and blackberry crumble and custard for dessert. Both were lovely, would 100% go again, and with value like that, why wouldn't you?

Poor food slow service no atmosphere we stuck in a back room wasn't allowed to give birthday cake out because it wasn't a cake as such definitely wouldn't recommend this place

We rung last minute and they were able to fit us in. The best compliment I can pay comes froom my grandaughter who is a very fussy eater. Her review,This is better than both my nannies dinners. Served a turkey curry, apparantly home made, it was sludge, basically powdered chip shop curry, with a few peas and turkey, the worst meal I have ever been seved, ok from a Chinese or chip shop as its what you expect.

Ordered X2 100oz steaks (£120) in advance. Asked for steaks to be well-done and they came out over cooked and burnt. Hardly touched them. Not worth the money or the drive up. Been going for the last 3 years but I shall not be going again!

Went for meal with mates from work for a long overdue catch up. The food and service was great, all enjoyed and will return.

Went for lunch, the waitress was excellent. Fortnight later attended a wake there which was also excellent.

Come here every couple of weeks with my brother, and we love the food every time. i always have the double chicken burger with back, and its always nice and crispy and the chicken is nice and tender, i can never fault the chips, always great, cant wait to visit next time

Took my partner yesterday for a birthday meal, I was in her good books for taking her to such a lovely warm atmosphere,The staff were polite, professional and jovial throughout fantastic service, As for the meal my ribeye steak was perfect cooked on a blackstone griddle. She had the double beefburger it was delicious, thank you all at mountain air for such a fantastic meal 10/10

Classic pub, lovely homely look and feel. The staff were friendly. The meal choices here are your classic pub grub, not a huge level of variety. However the meals were all very excellent and really tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed my food and would have food here again happily. The onion rings were homemade proper rings of onion and I whole heartedly recommend getting these. They were super tasty. For any of those brave or foolhardy enough there are a couple of giant food challenges to try. This was a fun talking point in a group, so it seems there is more than meets the eye with this pub. We were there for lunch on a weekday, so it was pretty quiet.

Im guessing it was my fault. Once i dont have enjoyed the 1st time, i was there... why to go back, right?🤷‍♀️.. But... Maybe the 1st time was one day without example... So.. Sow on facebook, they were advertising for all you can eat day, so we booked a table... Well, I have to say that this was by far the worst meal I have ever been charged my hard earned for!🙄 The food was absolutely disgusting, and I’m surprised you can serve this in good conscience. 10 out of 10 to the member of staff for keeping a straight face when he was telling me what was in each of the slop buckets, though. 🤮 Really, The Mountain Air, this is an embarrassment, and you ought to be ashamed!!! 🤑 Both of us were sick straight away from that food. Please avoid!!!.

Family went here for Sunday carvery it was outstanding, plenty of veg and meat and reasonably priced excellent value and would highly recommend

I visited here for a relatives birthday. The staff were all friendly and very good with the kids. The menu featured all the pub classics you'd expect (with the exception of the challenge which none of our party dared to take on) I ordered a classic Cod and chips but there was no Cod available, so I opted for the Plaice, which was a good sized potion and very nice. The kids meals were a good size potion and came with a drink and a dessert for just £3 which I thought was very good value. We were the only people at the pub on a Tuesday night. I would visit again but wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

I had the mixed grill The food was horrible 😫 the oil The chips were cooked in taste horrible the sausage was cheap jumbo sausage you get better in a chip shop doesn't say much lol was told that the stake was 4oz lol very very small more like 2oz 2 bight gammon wasn't cooked right if cooked properly the fat rind is the tastes bit wasn't cooked but the gammon was thin and chewy! Same thing with the pork!! A very amateur cooked food definitely would not eat there again 😫🤢🤮 and to your reply that was a lie I was not rude to your staff she asked me if everything was OK and I said that it wasn't really that I didn't enjoy the food at all ! And said that I hadn't eaten the sauce only because I had forgotten about it! And asked about what type of cooking oil The chips were cooked in because they didn't taste very nice and said that I'm sorry that I wouldn't normally say anything but the food was that bad I thought that I had to be honest with her and said that I no she didn't cook it but I had to be honest with her ! AND I GAVE 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️FOR SERVICE AND THE STAF WERE FRIENDLY ! SO TOTALLY LIE ABOUT ME BEING RUDE! Why would i have given 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️wish I would have read more of the reviews before I went there were one mentioned that the only thing worth having is the dessert ! And a lot of other complaints from others!! What you said is a lie ! And doesn't add up to me giving the staff a 5 for service if I said sorry but if I'm honest I didn't enjoy the food at all being rude I'm sorry she took it personally! But the service was the only thing that I couldn't fault !!! So definitely wasn't rude And the cake was nice!

Just come back from a meal here with friends after hearing good things about the food.The recommendations couldn't have been more wrong. I ordered the mixed grill for £18 which came on a normal sized place,which is unusual but if anything on this occassion the plate was too big as it was the smallest mixed grill i have ever seen, and definitely not worth the money being charged. It was so small in fact that i finished my meal before my wife ate burger and chips!!! To add insult to injury the couple we were with asked for extra sauces as the amount on their plates was not sufficient,which they were charged for when we paid the bill!!! I complained to the waitress regarding the size of my meal and she could not have cared less. Will NEVER frequent this restaurant again!!! Absolutely disgraceful.... Oh, and we were overcharged!!!!

Minimal vegan options and the one I ordered ended up not being available. Even the coffee was just pods. Fine if you're just looking for somewhere to just eat cos you're hungry but wouldn't recommend for good food.

We came last night 20 of us to a party. My scampi nice chips were not felt like they only part cooked. Last time my hubby and I had a meal here food was stunning. So for that reason with the chips I only giving four star.

Well. What can I say. What used be a great carvery has turned into one that 5 of us will not be returning to. Did not listen to the orders correctly. The meats were very tough. Roast potatoes were dry and over cooked. As well the way it is served is totaly a mess, as not everyone eats all the vegetables. Should have asked what vegetables we wanted out of choice and let people choose them. Also not everyone likes gravy, so should have brought that out separately. The dessert the Mountain Air Eton Mess had no meringue in it. And to top it off, they charge extra for gravy. Not even The Ritz charges extra and I know as have been there. So from having a bad experience, we won't be attending again. Total mess up of what used to be a great Sunday Carvery. Just a way to Rob the customers

OK food. Nothing out of the ordinary. Mains are about £15. This is not a dog friendly place and you cannot sit outside.

we were regular visitors before covid hit. We decided to give this place a visit. The menu had changed from the great choices that was once available from small bites to larger meals which suited my elderly parents. The staff were friendly, the pub was very clean, service was good but a big let down regarding the food. I understand that most places have had to increase their prices but to pay £15 for a plain curry rice & chips which in most places bread came with it, but any extra had to be paid for. Frozen chips were cold with no flavour, (didn't eat them)for that price I expect proper home cut chips like other places do when charging those prices. On one of the meals there were about 3 spoonful peas and a very small salad with 1 piece cucumber size of bean. also 1 tomato cut very small which wasn't very fresh. I don't mind paying for food but I expect good homemade products. They charge same prices in nant ddu lodge restaurant food is fresh. Won't be visiting again which is a shame.

Had a 35oz Steak today, my partner had the 10oz Sirloin, both were requested Medium Rare, both came well overcooked, and I mean, tough to chew and dry. The chips seemed burnt and tasted like they'd been cooked again from going cold. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend after today's experience

We were travelling to Abergavenny but, given the appalling traffic due to roadworks on the A465, we called into The Mountain Air [10 Sept] to have some late lunch. The restuarant was quiet and the staff attentive. The food was hot and tasty and the desserts excellent. It was a lovely lunch and we'll definitely come back the next time we're in the area. A recommended eatery.

We had a lovely time at the Easter event. Very well worth the money. Food was lovely and lots of activities and treats for the children. And the roast potatoes were delicious 😋

While I've always enjoyed their desserts the food is really a let down by comparison, had a beef burger that was incredibly greasy and a curry that was bone-dry without sauce. If you're going to eat here order dessert instead, they make some wonderful ice-cream and cakes.
