The Moon and Spoon in Slough

You’re always safe with food at Spoons. We had a couple of curries and drinks – how do they do a double Beefeater G&T for under £4 and a pint of Doombar for under £2?! No great atmosphere and noisy kids everywhere but worth it.

Admittedly, I have been very waspish about Wetherspoons in the past, but for good reason: the vast majority of the ones I've visited were horrible. Not so the Moon and Spoon. The staff and service was friendly and efficient, my steak dinner was extremely tasty and my whole evening was very comfortable. Should I find myself in Slough again this I will definitely be back. Thank you Spoons.

We come to Slough yearly and use the Moon and Spoon regularly it is good food and pleasant . Every time we come we ask the same question how many spoons in the spaceman but as yet none of the staff seems to know. But we will try next year because we like the venue and atmosphere

Lovely fish and chips and pint of Guinness. Great value here and staff are always courteous and prompt. The clientele are diverse and everyone seems to get along, just fine!

Excellent. People are nice, food is tasty, beers are awesome. What else should I say? We often go there and always get the warmth from staff. No matter how busy they are, Your food will be there in no time. Excellent table service, smiling faces everywhere.

I came to the Moon and the Spoon on 1st August 2024 to meet a friend whom I hadn’t seen in seven years. Despite Slough having lost its character over the years, I was glad to know that the Moon and Spoon still existed as I remember how a vibrant and friendly pub it was and it is still is even to this day, despite all these years later!! The bar staff are very friendly and the customers all seemed relaxed and friendly! Drinks are still cheap!! Highly recommend it!

We decided to eat before travelling back to Bristol and it was a good choice the staff were friendly happy helpful and we felt very welcome. The food we chose was lovely and hot and even the local customers were helpful! Thank you 😊

Disgusted daughter got stuck in toilet the staff had to break door down we never got a sorry or asked if she was ok pleased we don’t live in Slough as thought it was rude

Manager in the morning needs to either get a job he likes or tell his face to cheer up and actually interact with a customer. Felt like I was disturbing his morning to be served then stood at end of the bar chatting to a young girl on her break whilst the other lady on the floor ran round clearing the floor. She was a credit to the place and was so polite friendly and smiley even tho she was left to do all the work.

Exvellent service!! Super friendly and fast. Checking back with customers if everything is ok with the meal (which was a lovely breakfast). Can highly recommend! The friendly service from restaurant staff and chef makes this a very refreshing experience.

Friendly and efficient staff, used the Wetherspoons App to order. The food and drinks arrived quickly, good food served with a smile and piping hot

Decided to pop in for dinner and honestly wish I hadn't bothered. Trying to find a table that was clean was impossible. Dirty glasses and plates left and wet and sticky tables. Managed to find one that wasn't too bad, put the menu over the worst part of the table. Ordered our food and that came out fairly quickly and our meals were delicious. The reason for my low score was purely because the place was so dirty.

I am usually very pleased with Moon and Spoon and have given 5 star reviews for excellent service and quality. However!! On this occasion, I have noticed food quality has deteriorated. We had all day vegetarian breakfast a few times recently and it has been very greasy, as if the oil is not being changed regularly enough. Chips were really brown and greasy. Please don't let it slide ! We love your pub but we not come back if this is not rectified. Strangely, we noticed staff were eating chips that looked very fresh. Is it one rule for customers and inferior quality for the public!

We watched the chef coming out of the toilets wiv his blue gloves & pinney then wanted serve us wiv same order but in his dirty outfits

I usually love these restaurants, however, this one was a huge disappointment. Tried to order four different meals from the menu before finding something they actually had! Gammon, steak, grilled chicken and finally succeeded in ordering fish and jacket potato. Food was good, but once again, no pepper!! At all!! And only one small package of butter per person!!! For a large baked potato!! Was told I would have to pay extra, of which I agreed. Not impressed!!

We popped into this charming Wetherspoons this morning and had incredible vegetarian breakfasts and at wow price £2.99!!! This is incredible 👏 value and quality is top notch. Had a lovely pint of Abbot ale for just over £2. Highly recommended. Staff are very helpful and attentive.

We stopped off here for Lunch, service was ok, some staff were stand offish, when asked questions, food was very good.

Quite a busy cafe and I was hoping their coffee is good. Coffee wasn't bad and would definitely go to Moon and Spoon for a coffee.

We visited here on a weekday at 10.45 a.m. Just after sitting down a team member says breakfast is finished. "It shouldn't have" I reply and she asks me the time. She doesn't seem to believe me and asks another customer who confirms. I get no apology. The team member returns a few minutes later to say the drink I ordered on the app isn't available and she begins to move away...erm, I've paid for that drink, aren't you going to offer me an alternative? Breakfast arrives, no "enjoy your meal" and of course no check back. It wasn't good enough.

Brilliant pub were on hols and love the horse racing bookies across the rd and wait for it this pub has racing UK must be the only weatherspoons with a horse racing channel bloody brilliant oh and 1.99 for a pint of copper berg makes the pub second to none

On a recent trip we used the moon and spoon for food , first class breakfast but on two out of 3 mornings we were approached at our table by requesting money to buy food etc , staff seemed to ignore this. Food in evening was very good in particular the mixed grill, however the staff behind the bar seemed more interested in their own conversation than serving people at the bar waiting to order.

Fairly busy but that 'magic ingredient' of enough staff - and plenty of tables. We sat near the back - quieter and well-spaced. All of our various food orders arrived in quick time and were very happy with it. Then only a short walk to the station for our trains back to London.

Went out with friends last night and found very good value ( fish n chips for £3.99!!) a pint of well conditioned ale for £1.99. Very clean toilet and clean all round. Excellent!

Eat here twice Had vegetarian friend with us ,no problems. Food came very quickly and was perfect . A little noisy first night frequented by workers but no problems at all.

Been here several times on business, always at lunch so cannot comment on the night scene. It is a typical Wetherspoons, I have been in better ones but also worse. Great for a modest price lunch with well kept beers. Friendly staff, average to good food but always great value.

This was the experience you might expect from a Wetherspoons. OK food, OK drinks a few unusual characters sheltering from the cold.

My colleagues and I regularly visit this branch for lunch. The food is quick, tasty and there is a good variety. In addition, they cater for most dietary requirements. Southern fried chicken halloumi wrap is always my go to!

Clean, nice staff, good value for money if hardly haut cuisine. WEnte a couple of times for breakfast staff willing and able to make changes to set dishes to accomodate my wife's gluten intolerance. 2 of us eat for less than the cost of the inn house breakfast at the hotel.

This restaurant is actually in Slough, England. Makes it a long way to go for dinner. They tell me that my review has to be longer, even though I don't have anything more to say. I'm sure it's a lovely place, just not in Sloughhouse CA.

Went for breakfast with my other half on Sunday and was impressed with standard of food and service. Very polite and helpful staff. Real ales are plentiful and we'll looked after.This place cheers up a visit to Slough.

A Few friends came to visit Slough from Devon for the weekend.Popped in here for a drink and meal.I Had steak it was excellent.My friends really enjoyed their meal,the price really helps,The staff were excellent,very helpful.This really is a good place to visit,just for drinks,or a meal,and meet friends.

Decided to try this pub because it was within walking distance to our Airbnb. My fish and chips were typical but tasty. The barbecue chicken pizza was also quite good. The apple crumble w/ice cream was a nice finish. Once the order was placed at the bar, serving was very prompt. A large rowdy crowd, difficult to carry on a conversation, however it was Friday evening

Not a fan of Slough but this Spoons had great staff and great prices. Pint of Strongbow = £2.65!! I had the 12oz steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection with clean, fresh peas and fries and served within ten minutes of ordering. Couldn't fault it. Only 2 guest beers on. 1 of which was undrinkable. Decided to have the Doombar which is a stock beer, that was cloudy. Cellar management very poor. Service at the bar was abysmal. Also short measured pints even after topping, and that from the under manager. Fried eggs with the gammon were so over cooked. All in all my 1st evening out in 5 weeks was nothing short of a disaster. Am very reluctant to return anytime soon. Giving the Bear Maidenhead another go next week. See if that's improved.

Popped in for a bite to eat..been here before and not had a great service..but wow what a difference! Ordered the Ultimate Burger..it was absolutely delicious and the portions were huge! at only £6.85 with a drink what more could you ask for! the chef came out too and asked if everthing was ok..the food and service were excellent..cant fault it..well done!

We have visited quite a few Wetherspoons before but this one was disgustingly dirty. We arrived at 9 pm to have a little snack and coffee, every single table was not only full with empty glasses and dishes, but with sticky puddles of drinks. Later on they picked the glasses and dishes but still did not wipe any tables. We used their menus to cover the sticky mess as nobody paid attention. Food debris was under the tables, between the tables. We never have seen anything like this before. And last straw was toilets, dirty and smelly. Shame, staff was very pleasant but we will avoid this venue in the future.

Unlike Windelsora where Pub Manager and bar staff are rude and food terrible , this public is excellent. Good food and drinks,nice atmosphere and clientele. Buzzy and friendly.

I have been to many weatherspoons in every area of the country. This must be the worst experience I've had.

So today I thought I would take my elderly mother and best friend for breakfast in the moon and spoon Slough highstreet, when ordered I asked them to make sure I had no tomato's on my breakfast as I'm allergic, and my friend asked for extra mushrooms, when the food was brought to the table by the manager kasia I explained I asked not to have tomato's and the manager told me I lied and didn't tell them that when I ordered but she did not take my order so would not have known and then she said I should just take the tomato off the plate, she then had a go at my friend calling her a liar about what she ordered and tried snatching the food of her. She then stormed off shouting with my food and had returned the same plate minus the tomato again I need to express I am allergic so this was not following policies. She then had left us with the food but kept walking past saying hurry up eat and go, this made me feel very uncomfortable and then noticing I had uncooked scrambled egg on my plate was the final straw, when asking for a refund with a different team member the manager again come over shouting at us in front of other customers and telling everyone to remember our faces and that we was barred. Ihave never been spoken to in such a way especially by a manager, even if.i was not barred I would never ever return to this establishment again. In which I normally attend a few times a week with family!!!!!

Called in recently on a week night. The first thing we saw was the manager tryin* to calm down a local idiot outside who was drunk and causing trouble.

Walked past a couple of times before checking the menu, place grew on me through the evening. Food is good, decent well priced pub food, very good selection of ales, well kept. Service was functional and fast. The only downside is they don't clear the tables very quickly so there were lots of tables piled with finished catering. But a good food stop if you are staying round the corner.

By the power of the Wetherspoon app, we grabbed a table, picked our food and not moving placed an order. It was a very busy Friday lunch and totally expected a long wait, but not at all. Staff who brought food and drinks lovely.

We found this great pub on our last trip to Slough.. we use Slough as our base for London as it’s easy access for London.

Had evening meal here and also breakfast next morning. Great deals on the food and Hophouse 13 on draught as part of the deal. Breakfast wraps were great and unlimited coffee. Good atmosphere at night.

We stayed in a Premier Inn in Slough to visit Legoland and this Wetherspoons pub was just up the road. We visited about 7.00 on a Sunday and was not that busy and had plenty of choices of tables to sit and also got served quickly at the bar, the barmaid was very nice and chatty and the food arrived fairly quickly. My 9 year old enjoyed his spaghetti Bolognese but my eggs were cold on my egg, ham and chips with only a handful of chips and my wife's Chilli was ok but not the best apparently. Overall is was an ok Wetherspoons but not one of my favourites although I wouldn't put anyone off going and it was a nice pint of Guinness

Have come here twice recently for breakfast and have generally been pretty impressed. The staff have been very friendly and helpful. The breakfast has turned up usually within a few minutes after ordering. The eggs are always perfect which can’t always be said for some establishments.

We ate here early evening, whilst staying in Slough on 26th July. We are used to the poorly run and really bad service in our Bath Wetherspoons, so weren't expecting much!

The 2 bar staff who were serving this morning were excellent. We really appreciated their politness and attention.

I purchased the steak club Tuesday mixed grill today for the last time. With a Wetherspoons meal you never expect cordon bleu but this meal was more like core blimey. The meal costs £8.10 with a soft drink thrown in, it sounds like good value but it's only good value if the meal was edible. It wasn't, what it was was disgusting.

Ignore the stereotypes with this place, give it a try! We did for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. 3 breakfasts and drink for under 15 pounds! The quality was decent too.

Amazing price GBP 8.40 for 2 unlimited coffee/tea and 2 small breakfasts! Piping hot, lovely staff and a good ambience. Don't be put off! Kid friendly...nice customers too.

It's very much a pub at the front but if you want a meal it's quieter and comfortable at the back. There is the usual good choice of Wetherspoons meals. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Our order was taken and delivered speedily. The food was lovely and nice and hot which matters to me.

Visited here whilst in the area last week with my family. We weren't expecting fine dining as we were after something quick to eat and didn't want to travel far. It doesn't look much from outside so we weren't expecting great things but how wrong we were. The food was really tasty and furthermore, was brought out to us within 20 minutes of ordering (on a busy Sunday evening) You can't fault the value either, we paid just under £40 for 5 of us and we all had an alcoholic drink with our meal. Would certainly recommend!

Very good range of beers and wines and also prize is not expensive! Excellent food, always big portions and nicely prepared by chef. Definitely would recommend this pub for any occasion when you want to have a nice pint and nice meal :)

Arrived to have meal.went to bar to order only to be ignored by staff.after waiting 10 minutes.complained to gentlemen behind the bar and left disappointed by VERY POOR SERVICE.will not be back

Good food and beer prices,but why oh why does it take so long to be served.It is most frustrating as with most Wetherspoons when there is no orderly queuing system. Iwas the only customer waiting to be served and meanwhile other people arrived at the bar.Eventually when a member of staff arrived I had to wait while others were served first.

The pub was buzzing at 7pm on a Saturday night. By 7.30 tables were nearly all full and we understand why. Food is good value and tasty I had 8oz sirloin and my husband fish and chips. Could choose jacket potato and salad to go with it. Steak was quite tender. Fish was good too.

December 2016 was the first time I walked in for drinks, order munchies and it wasn’t good at all. Went back only for drinks and never ordered food.

Prices are quite low but food is really averaged. In some daily specials the drinks are included, as long as it is not a San Miguel or Stella, which is quite strange?

had a meal here on the 18/05 , typical weatherspoons food really . doesn't tend to be any different wherever you go , I must say the staff were really good in here , really helpful, polite , the chap who took my food order was really good, would eat here again if visiting

We have been to a few different Wetherspoons for meals but tonight, I had the vegetable lasagna and it was far better then any of the others. My husband had the steak which he said was cooked just how he liked it. 5 stars for Ian and the team who was very attentive.

Popped in yesterday evening and what a pleasant surprise. Food was great, service was really helpful and efficient, drinks and friendly atmosphere. All for a really great value price. Had the Scampi followed by apple crumble.

I really like this pub - friendly and efficient staff, good cheap food and well kept ale. A very big group of us had breakfast there, and the booking we'd made hadn't been noted down for some reason. Despite that, the duty manager and staff that morning sorted us out without fuss - they couldn't have been more helpful, and gave us really good service. Well done!i

Nice couple of pints on Christmas Day lunchtime session. Landlord put out plates of nibbles including pigs in blankets. This was good as it reminded me I hadn't got mine ready yet. Very good Abbot ale, good bar crew, good session.

I generally try to visit there after work for a drink and dinner and really like the place on my first visit to Slough. I tried Guinness at few other places including my hotel bar but was not satisfied. At the The Moon and Spoon i got the perfect pint and always return to the place when in Slough.

I live nearby and often drop in for a pint or two. Tonight after a trip to a BBC radio theatre in London, went for something to eat and a drink. It was about 19:30 and me and my mate ordered the steak & kidney pudding with chips. Cheap for two, absolutely delicious as were our chosen beers. I just don't know how Tim Martin does it! Don't believe what the press says about 'spoons, go along and judge for yourself. As far as I am concerned its cheap, friendly, value for money service. The staff in Slough are great,most of them may be eastern European but who cares, they are friendly and do the best they can. Give me more.

We arrived late at the Hotel from Heathrow, only place open close by was the Moon and Spoon, very large pub, with a variety of patrons, some not quite sober.
