The Montague Arms in Lewisham

Very rarely am I impressed with the quality of service - but Istvan looked after us with personality and humour from the outset... and the food was just outstanding. The detail and care (we had a celiac and a non-fish fan in the group of 6) to each of the differing needs was exceptional. The evening was relaxed and utterly enjoyable - made all the more memorable with the uniquely entertaining team. Warm, friendly, humorous and knowledgeable. Could not recommend enough!

We stayed one night at the charming Montague Arms over the bank holiday weekend. It’s a small, picturesque hotel - with only about 20 rooms - and it retains a lot of its 18th century features (dark wood panelled walls etc). It feels like a quintessentially British country hotel. Homemade short bread was a nice touch (and delicious) as well as the handwritten weather report. We stayed in Room No 10 (the Larch) - facing the main high street - which was beautifully decorated and felt bright and airy. Although the view is lovely - old buildings and part of the river - Beaulieu is a tiny town and there is one main road running through it. So if you’re looking to get away from urban noise (as we were) or you’re a light sleeper suggest you ask for a garden facing room. Having said that the traffic does die down at night time. The staff were all very welcoming and accommodating. We were worried the hotel might be a bit stuffy but it was a relaxed atmosphere catering to all (families, older couples, younger couples). Service at the Terrace restaurant was impeccable and both food and wine were excellent! Breakfast was also lovely. We didn’t have the chance to use the spa as we only stayed one night and it’s at another site. You also have to pay to upgrade to use the spa facilities - rather than just the pool- which should really be included given the price. Overall, beautiful hotel with lovely gardens and great for a weekend getaway.

Haber vivido en el área durante 30 años, pero recientemente descubrí esta gema oculta, aunque ahora está bajo una nueva administración. Un espacio realmente agradable y funky d cor. Además, el personal muy amable y lo recomendaría encarecidamente a probarlo. El pub anima a los visitantes a traer su propia comida o pedido para llevar.

Una noche con seis amigos. Buen vino, excelente ayuda del personal del bar y atento a nuestra mesa. Cómodas sillas también. Volveremos por otra noche para enfocarnos en los cócteles la próxima vez.

Gran personal pub excelente, un ambiente acogedor y el personal no suficiente para ayudarte con cualquier cosa, hablando a través de la amplia selección de cervezas y cócteles, gran nueva edición a la comunidad local poner este pub de atrás en el corazón de la zona. La selección de juegos gratis para que te diviertas no vendría mal! ! En una escala de uno que me encanta, me encanta este sitio ya! ! Usted también x

So much more airy and contemporary than when it closed in January. Many will mourn the loss of the live music stage, assume the new owners believe it will attract a wider range of the community now. Good to see darts, table football and bar billiards back in use together in one pub. The latter two and some American style electronic games machines are all free use. I only visited for the real ale and hope a local brewery might approach the venue to give it a more adventurous beer range than national Doom Bar and Caledonian Deuchars. Anyway good to see the old girl alive again after several recent threats to its future.

Great pub under new management! Highly recommended. Relaxed atmosphere. Great staff. Games free to play is a nice touch.
