Used this place for the first time last week, ordered online arrived for collection at the pre agreed time, after a very short wait the food was handed over, got it home, still nice and hot and very tasty. Will definitely be using Ming Wah again

Ordered online and went to pick up. Quality of the food was terrible. Beef really chewy and the black bean sauce had no flavour. Chicken in chow mien was really watery and stringy. Overall the food was really bad and won’t be ordering there again.

I've been using Ming Wag for over 40 years the food has always been good.

AVOID. Absolutely horrendous experience. Told there was a 45 minute wait. Reality was 1 hour 45 minutes. Very quick to take your money and tell you 5 more minute to wait. Food was either Luke warm or hot. Other people came in and got their food straight away. I wasn’t the only one with a very long wait. No apology either. If I could have said zero star I would. Get your act together Ming Wah!!!

Our favourite takeaway place in town for Chinese. Good portions and value for money. Pretty much every dish tastes great as far as Chinese takeaway goes!

Best food, great service, big portions!

Got a takeaway last night, waited 20 mins for it, when we got home found we got half of our order and half of some other order. Tried to call to rectify but constantly engaged. Ate our section of order but wasted rest as didn’t like other items given. Paid £40 for takeaway and received only half of that. Need more counter staff to check orders and pass them out better as only one person doing this and also taking orders so mistakes happening. Good job we had no allergies . Disappointed

Overpriced and small portions quite flavourless

I recently ordered food from Ming wah and it was a great experience. The food arrived on time and tasted delicious! The bao buns were especially great - they were the perfect combination of soft and chewy. All in all, if you're looking for a reliable and delicious place to order food, Ming wah is the place to go!

Food good ,service very bad ,over priced for what we got

I paid 68 pounds for food they missed half my order when I rang she told me they have 2 different menu so they coned me out 14 pounds it was horrible not even hot they don't care so please be careful u don't get rip off with different prices

Not being familiar with the area l, I popped in to see what was available. A large variety, it turns out! The food was piping hot and delicious. The staff are very friendly and the prices are very competitive. With a 5-star food hygiene rating, it makes for a perfect takeaway venue. Just note that if your order is below £10 you will be required to pay by cash.

Have had takeaway from here a few times and wanted to wait to ensure it was consistent. Excellent every time. Just the right amount of chilli heat and every dish tastes different. Will definitely be back!

Have used Ming Wah now 4-5 times over the past 6 months and I have to say it is the best Chinese in North Herts. We have not had a bad dish and have tried a number of different dishes. Their spare ribs are tender and delicious, House Special rice really tasty and the Szechuan Chicken is lovely and spicy. Always ready on time and they throw in free Prawn Crackers and Spring Rolls for larger orders.

Ordered a meal told 10 minutes asked the girl if she would bring it to the van parked outside 25 minutes later went in and asked why it had taken so long she said it had been ready for 5 minutes I asked her why didn't she bring it to the van she said she had been calling me from the counter when I complained I was told that they don't need customers like me ive been going there for 20 years

The food was really good. The service was OK. The member of staff advised the length of time we would wait, and she was spot on. Ordered a variety of foods best was the chicken balls.

We ordered last night and have to say we were really impressed . We agree that the chicken is not good at all so we ordered the king prawn Japanese curry instead of the chicken and it was delicious and we loved the way it was presented in a bowl (it’s the little things). The Singapore noodles were also lovely. Each time we order from here the food just gets better. Well done Ming Wah.

Best chinese takeaway I’ve had in a long while !!! Would make this my regular place but had to pick up which isnt so convenient - do you deliver?

We had a take away from here and the chicken was really not good. It isn’t proper chicken as it used to be and we thought it was probably so called 'rubber' chicken. Especially noticeable in the chicken curry. Probably people wouldn’t recommend this place now.

We have recently tried the Dim Sum from Ming Wah, and we were so impressed! It’s definitely as good as we have had in Dim Sum restaurants in London. The ‘delicious steamer’ mixed selection is so good. The staff are also very friendly and efficient so it’s an all round good experience, and we will be ordering again very soon.

Unfortunately not as nice as it has been seems to be soggy and tasteless and rice had the apearence of being burnt .... has bee great in past but wouldn't recommend now 🤔

DO NOT USE!!!! They do not look after their regular customers. After ordering nearly every week through COVID and having our Chinese delivered, we call this evening to be told that we live too far away and they will no longer deliver too us !! We have not moved. Evening after we said we were happy to wait over an hour. No apology given. Terrible service we are deeply disappointed and will take our business else where!!!!!!!

Over the past 18 months (since Covid Lockdown 1) we have have used Ming Wah for delivery service on numerous occasions. We had been using it pre-Covid. Everytime we call to place an order they change their mind if card payments can be accepted or not. On a couple of occasions the order delivered has been incorrect. Tonight we called to ask for delivery and were told it was collection only as this is what they have always done. We called from 3 different phone numbers and below are the different excuses we received: Call 1 : Unfortunately we don't deliver. We havent't done for many years. When questioned they ended the call Call 2: Unfortunately we don't deliver at the minute due to Covid. When questioned that they had delivered to us us throughout covid they ended the call. Call 3: When told we were self isolating they said it would be 1 hour for delivery as they don't have a driver. This could have been mentioned on call 1. We agreed to wait the hour and then changed their mind and the call was ended yet again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS Do these people want business or are they on a tax scam deciding when they need cash payments (see above regarding card payments). It was a fantastic takeaway to order from but i would avoid at all costs. Sorry, just my opinion over a three year period of things changing

Not very authentic Chinese food. Meat was a bit over cooked but the flavours were nice.

Huge portions. We ordered way too much cos every other Chinese I've had Was much smaller boxes. No compromise on flavour either. Big, cheap, tasty boxes of food. Ready in 15mins

I can't even mark with stars this meal was appalling paid near 40 pounds sweet and sour sauce was salty and the crispy beef was not crispy like rubber plain boiled rice was like rice pudding the king prawn curry was flavourless only decent things was spare ribs I can't afford a lot it was a treat as just moved here I will most certainly not be going back there oh yeah and pancake rolls was anemic what a waste of 40 pounds we threw it away and was left hungry if I could of given minus stars I would I will tell people not to go and about my experience there

Very good Chinese I have tried just about all of the Chinese takeaways in Hitchin Letchworth Stevenage and this is by far the best, you also won't find them on just eat and there is a reason for it they don't need it.

Despite waiting in the cold on New year's Eve for an hour and a half (due to demand and short staff) The food was delicious. First time we've ordered from here, will order again.

New Year’s Eve (should have known) ordered online, turned up at arranged time to find a substantial queue outside waiting to collect. Waited 1hour 10 minutes to be told when asked that it would be another 20 minutes (I had asked after 45 minutes wait and was told it would be another 25 minutes so not happy it would be another 20 in addition). At this point I was freezing cold and not prepared to wait any longer so got a refund. Absolute shambles and what really annoyed me is they kept taking orders from people walking in. Also allowed a customer in without a mask and he was coughing over someones food waiting to be collected. In retrospect I’m pleased I got a refund.

Vile! Always used to go to Ming Wah, but since it changed hands it’s been awful. Was convinced to give another go last night.... put all in the bin, the chicken chow mien was swimming in grease and the chicken..., if that’s what you call it was soggy. Revolting! Will not be returning

Food disgusting, vegetables not cooked, sweet and sour cantanoise disgusting chicken not cooked. This takeaway has gone down drain since the original people left there, please come back letchworth people miss you, your food was excellent and there was never any complaints

Extremely disappointed! The chicken was like rubber, the sauce was like gravey sauce, spicy beef was shocking!!! Over all our complete takeaway food of different sorts for a family of 5 appeared to be frozen tasteless food. Certainly “Do Not Live Up To Previous Owners”. I would never go back... Disgusting food!

Based on a limited experience but the spring rolls here are off the scale (nice with the curry sauce!!)

Order a special curry with egg fried rice, got a special curry with boiled rice and an extra portion of egg fried rice. My partner picked it up so didn't question it just said my name. Rang them to say couldn't eat it as was wrong order and why would I order an extra portion of egg fried rice. Sorry must be a miss understanding was what they said, they didn't repeat it to me which was what was said, nothing else. Wont go here again. No customer service.

I popped in with my partner and was told they only accept cash, which we did not have. 10 minutes later we returned with cash only to be told that the chef had left.

Tried to order some chow mein and fried rice at 10.30pm - their door was wide open, the lights were on, and opening hours said until 11pm but they’d sent the chef home. Not sure why the door was still open then but they need to change their advertised opening open hours if they can’t be bothered to adhere to them. Very frustrating as could have gone elsewhere if we’d known.

Just made a large order for a family birthday, was told will be ready to pick up in 15mins. Food was deffinatly microwaved, beef was soggy and fatty. Sweet and sour sauce like pink water. Haven't been here since it changed hands, will not be going back. Such a shame the name of this takeaway has been ruined by the new owners.

My family and all my extended family have gone to Ming wah for over 40 years!It’s been out go to restaurant and nothing has ever come close!Unfortunately under new ownership the food taste and quality is simply not the same.We are avid fans of the special chicken curry and despite sharing our feedback and letting them know it’s not as good it still doesn’t hit the mark....Old owners if you are reading this... please come back or give us your recipe!!!!Or new owners.... please find out how it should be made!On the hunt for a new Chinese!So so devastated by this :(

The Ming Wah has been my takeaway of choice since 1973 when I first used it and over the years it has consistently served me and my family great takeaway food I can honestly say I have never had a bad dish from the restaurant in the 36 years I have used it. I moved out of Letchworth in 1981 but still travel 14 miles from my house to use it. Thanks to all the staff and cooks from over the years...

First visit since the new owners took over and I wish I had stuck to my guns and gone to the kebab shop in Baldock. Sadly this has gone from the best to being one of the poorer Chinese take away in the area.

The fact they have been in Letchworth for so long, to my knowledge 30 years plus, they clearly provide what people want..staff are helpful and polite..difficult to rate a take away fairly. It's lovely for traditional Chinese take away.

Great place for food only let down is there is no delivery service and parking is difficult. They are cash only that stops me getting carried away. Recommend house special fried rice 🍚. Service with a smile and quick.

After many years of enjoying a weekly Friday night Ming Wah, I’m sad to say tonight may well have been our last. It changed hands a couple of weeks before Christmas and the food quality has deteriorated so rapidly. Of the dishes we have tried, the chicken and sweetcorn soup has become sweetcorn and a bit of chicken soup, the crispy duck has lost its crispyness and the chicken in the dishes we have had has been chewy and slimy. The prawn crackers are still ok, as are the mini spring rolls. Rather a shame as the service from the new owners has been efficient and friendly. I’m not one for posting reviews but felt I needed to pass on my thoughts. The new owners have a tough act to follow, maybe when the reviews start to become favourable I’ll give them another try.

So I moved to Letchworth about 8-9 years ago and have always been a fond lover of Chinese food, my wife turned me into the Ming Wah when we first moved here together (she has lived in Letchworth to majority of her life) and for many years, it has been our go-to restaurant for Chinese take away On Friday (21st December) I ordered in for the whole family as we had been finalising Christmas shopping all day and wanted something nice to eat When my mother in law returned with our order, she informed us that the Ming Wah had changed owners and we could tell the difference in taste/flavour of the food preparedNow, it's 2 days later (23rd December) and I haven't left the toilet for more than 20 minutes all day! I am not impressed at all with this, I usually have a stomach of steel, and, the only thing I can pinpoint it to is Ming Wah`s food!!!It's sad to say but I think if we ever have Chinese again, we will have to find another restaurant to acquire it from. Very disappointed
