The Midpoint Bar in Chesterfield

No real ale here which is à bit of an own goal in my book. Clean and tidy but the loudish music detracts from the atmosphere. There is a comment on the Internet that they sell alot of Guinness,think this is the gall back for real ale drinkers,not that it's popular.

Fantastic night for the launch, amazing pizza, great range and drinks and a superb atmosphere.

Just what brampton needed! Cant wait to see what the future holds at the duke!

Just re opened, now named 'the Duke'. New owners, who also own 'the brampton social', so looking forward to how the pub develops in the near future 🤞

Nice little bar atended for a friends Birthday Party. Friendly staff and good atmosphere it's just a shame that the toilets were not clean

Quiet! Beer was not good, despite switching drinks both not good and was expensive. An unusually low score from me. New name again but actually reducing score from the Crafty Dog based on my last visit. Fancy this pub as one that won't survive without big improvements.

Very nice, clean and popular place, we called in for a couple of drinks on out way home. Busy and vibrant, we have not been here since before lockdown and the change of management a d name. Glad its not succumbed to the Inches invasion. I like dry cider, not sweet pop! Keep up the good work thanks.

Lovely bar with a great atmosphere. Great selection on tap and spirit's. Bartender a great attitude and very easy to talk to.

Ordered sunday roast very disappointing, mash was weird tasting and the yorkshire was not great, couldn’t even eat the meat it was so rare and chewy , the roasties were ok just store bought by the taste of them , veg was good but wouldn’t come again and wouldn’t order this. Really terrible but servers were nice. Don’t come here as i think it has been re branded and it’s not as it it looks on pictures

Excellent selection of draft beers, ciders and lagers. Bit rowdy but is to be expected on a Saturday night.

Waited an hour for food, thats okay.When it arrived it was luke warm.Flavoursome though. The carved meat top piece was cold on my dish. Did not send it back, but advised staff. Disappointing.

Had a party at the crafty dog Staff were very friendly and attentive no request too much trouble. The manager Shaun was fantastic and a great advocate for the business. The food was superb couldn't have asked for any more. Pizzas were very tasty and the toddy bigger sliders were spot on. A fantastic night which wouldn't have been as good if it wasn't for the staff

Sean and Kelly are just the best hosts you could ask for, creating a friendly welcoming atmosphere that makes it feel like our local, even though we travel miles to get there. The burgars are gorgeous. We recently went to a specialist burgar place, expecting them to be better, but honestly, the Crafty Dogs were significantly better. We're slowly working through the menu. And the couple of pizzas we've had were both unexpected and delicious. The food spread for parties looks particularly good .. though we've not tried yet.

Great atmosphere we originally went for the pub quiz on a thursday evening, then we saw the food coming out of the kitchen and now we regularly have burgers and pizza. Would highly recomend.

We randomly found this place on the way to matlock farm, the sunday roast was lovely the meat was amazing hats off to the chef!! Car park across the road 2hrs free parking

I'd just like to thank the Crafty Dog and its staff, especially Shaun for making my 50th surprise birthday party a special evening. My wife and daughter said they were so helpful from start to finish in organising the party. The food, drinks and service were spot on!

Lovely place for a drink although I went with my sister and mum and we ordered cocktails and the bartender had not a clue how to make it, when sending drinks back after we took a sip, then he then sold the same drinks to another bunch of ladies who when telling them, told us they paid for it at a discount after we had paid for them. Good thing we didn't have covid poor girls. We have been back since because always give second chance and it was lovely

Wonderful dog friendly craft and real ale bar. We were welcomed by the smell of baking pizza. Modern, with knowledgeable staff, it's a great place to unwind. Enjoy. M

A good pub with a nice atmosphere. Can't wait to go again!

Beer is very reasonably priced. Food is over priced. I had a sandwich of ham, cheese and pepperoni, which was way too spicy, even for me. We shared some loaded fries, which were nice, but cost £7, more than the price of the toasted sandwich, and not the portion size I was expecting for the price.

Absolutely amazing service from the moment I called to see if dogs were allowed Ben was an absolute pleasure. There was a bowl of water waiting for our dog and some treats, the food was beautiful and we had an overall excellent experience. Can't recommend enough! 5 stars from us

We love it here! They serve the best Sunday roasts. The beef roast is super generous and the veggie nut roast is so tasty! The staff are always really friendly too. Definitely recommend!

Went here for a birthday party, booked a table well in advanced and stated it was for a birthday, pretty much ruined the vibe for the night, food took over 90 min to arrive( pizzas) , the only thing they were realistically concerned about was serving drinks which in itself was a delayed experience, the excuse we were given is that one of their chefs had called in sick however no one came over to mention this to us or warned us prior to ordering ,apologised for the wait after asking at around 60 min after order but was assured it would be no longer than 10 more mins(staff at this point we’re telling others it was no longer than 20min wait)….had to wait a further 30 min and if we hadn’t of asked again probably a lot longer….when the food finally arrived the staff member serving it didn’t have a clue what they had brought out…we then had a member of staff ask us if we had an extra pizza with us….shambles……if your going to take bookings then prioritise these bookings , the guy stated they had a lot of walk ins however we only noticed another 3 tables(all with reserved signs) having food(not walk ins) , admittedly they did have a function, however if your booking people in you should be able to cope which they clearly couldn’t …..nothing offered as a gesture of good will just wanted us to get lost so they could continue serving people drinks ……won’t be returning anytime soon

Great little pet shop. Owner very knowledgable about the foods and treats as needed something for fussy pup. Good selection of toys and accessories. Not badly priced so happy to support local businesses.

Booked a table for 10 for my partner's birthday but when we got there we were left waiting but that wasn't a problem but when we were seated there was only 2 small tables for all of us there was no way we could have all fit, disappointing as I was looking forward to trying the food but we had to go somewhere else

Had Belgian Blue and I know it's near the end but at £4 a pint - by far the most I've paid this year- I would've expected a decent pint. Too cold by a long chalk and not kept well. Head disappeared after 2 minutes - probably due to the sour faced girl who pulled it. Maybe I was the wrong gender for her as she tried to serve the bloke who the other young girl was already serving although he arrived at the bar after me. Yes I'm female and in my 60s. This pub showed amazing potential when it 1st opened and it's sad to see the decline in both the quality of the beer and the service. Won't be going in again as this is now the 3rd occasion of disappointment

Not a gastro pub as implied by their website. But... a fine selection of ales. 4 stars for that.

Food was excellent. It was very busy as it was Saturday before Christmas but the service was excellent.

Always well presented. It is a good place to go, but today a bit short on cask ales so maybe a 4 not a 5. Staff friendly and informative. Will go again.

I don't recommend going here, the food was awful, small amounts for the price paid, overpriced drinks, was very crowded, couldn't hear the person next to me without them having to shout. Food was supposed to come at half 6, as that was the time that had been booked, came half an hour late. Won't be coming here again.

Decor was very nice, great selection of craft beer by the look of it. Food was distinctly average and overpriced. There were vegan options available though.

Great pub and nice venue for events.

Booked a table over a month ago as was coming to celebrate a birthday, when we arrived had no booking, had to find a table, ordered food came at different times, nachos did not arrive they stated they forgot to put on order had to them pay ahistorical. Asked for side plates as sharing no plates arrived. Took Agra’s to get served at bar, not enough staff. Very disappointed as was as all the girls was looking forward to a good night.

Selection of beers were mediocre , no descriptions of beer anywhere made it very difficult to pick a beer so you a left standing trying to pick a beer without the help of the staff trying to help and recommend something. The service was awful ! Ordered a pizza to share between two had to ask for napkins and side plates plus the sauces I asked for when I ordered the food. The wait time at the bar was well to long! Waited at the bar for 10 minutes waiting to be served! 2 members of staff were slow and didn’t seem interested in what that were doing. The other guy behind the bar was excellent attentive to customers and on the ball. Overall if you want slow service and mediocre beers come here but for anything else don’t.

I came to the Crafty Dog for the pub quiz. We had loads of fun and the pizza was great so we thought we would make it a regular thing and maybe come earlier so we could try the rest of the food. The next time we went, they ran out of Mango cider halfway through... but this stuff happens, so we came back... they had no mango cider and a bunch of other drinks... so maybe the supplier didn't get there on time. The next time, they ran out of a load of drinks and had no chorizo for the chicken and chorizo pizza... they said they didn't have the pizza anymore and we had to be the ones to suggest adding something other than chorizo like bacon or pepperoni. This time they ran out of not only some of the drinks but also ice cream, bearing in mind they have three desserts that you can accompany with ice cream and 4 Sunday choices... and they also forgot to put sauce on our pizza. But what was really disappointing was that they told us they had run out of ice cream after we waited for 35 minutes and decided to ask them about it. They offered to get us something else, but followed that suggestion with "but we have hardly any desserts left" and said they would refund us. I don't think they know there is 24h Tesco about 10 min away... and I'd say they don't know the first thing about managing a pub. I'd say, if you have a busy pub quiz on a Monday, order stuff in advance so that you don't run out... sounds pretty straight forward to me. We did think about asking to take away the rest of our pizza, but they had probably run out of pizza boxes, so we saved ourselves the trouble.

Absolutely shocking service, completely ignored at the bar, staff have no idea what they are doing and are extremely rude. Avoid it.
