The Merton Apprentice in Merton

I don’t normally do reviews but I have to say the range of beers is excellent and the quality of the pint is always excellent and compared to local pub prices you cannot go wrong

Stayed at the Premier Inn a few minutes away. We were there for the football and decided to explore nearby rather than go straight to the ground. So pleased we did. The Merton was surprisingly good value! Being Northerners we needed to sit down when we ordered a couple of pints and it was cheaper than we pay locally and in Manchester. Also ordered an Angus Burger with fries, which was excellent. Will def return if we stay near again. Very friendly and great value.

I last visited Merton Abbey Mills Apprentice back in August last year. I had a great time ( yes the sun was shining) Absolutely delighted The Merton Apprentice has Opened It's Doors Again. Even though it is cold outside You Are Guaranteed A Warm Welcome and a Decent Beer and The Bratvurst are simply to Die For

Had this snack from subsidiary company called brat haus, the most amazing frankfurter dog with sauerkraut and onions for such little money and felt obliged to re order coz it was so good. I know this is a pop up restaurant but hell yeah 13/10

My complaint mainly refers to the ‘Bratwurst’ part of the Merton Apprentice. We ordered, waited for OVER 1 HOUR and when we questioned the young woman working for the ‘Bratwurst’ establishment where our food was, she said she didn’t know but that the Merton Apprentice must have thrown the slip with our order on away. She did not apologise. We asked for a refund and a representative of the Merton Apprentice came over to tell us the refund had been issued. Whilst this woman was with us, the young woman of the ‘Bratwurst’ came over to the people sharing our table and had the bare faced cheek to ask them if they were enjoying their meal and did not even think of apologising to us. I am beyond disgusted and disappointed, for someone who loves the atmosphere of Merton Abbey Mills, this has really upset me.

Drinks came quickly but the food took forever! 20 minutes for a pretzel and as I write this, we have been waiting for my husband’s curry wurst for 35 min and still counting. Not good.

Really friendly staff. Came up to us and took our order straight away and actually gave my wife a free drink because they overhead us taking about it being her birthday. Great food too. I had the vegan option and sauce was tremendous. Massively recommend this place

Fantastic welcoming and friendly staff, all of them. The staff go out of their way to help you. Great beer too. Good honest and friendly outdoor seating. Love it there every time. Thanks all involved for making is feel so welcome!

"this is what will bring down the meat industry" :) We stopped for a small lunch while walking the Wandle Trail, and was very positively surprised! The people were friendly and knowledgeable, the food was excellent - we had the Vegan Curry Bratwurst and the Sausage w/fries. The atmosphere in this Merton Abbey Mills site is very cosy and family-friendly. We are not vegan or any other ...tarian, but like to try vegan food when it's on offer. These sausages were VERY GOOD.

As I write this now I am sitting at another vendors dinning area, originally I sat on a table at The Mertons Apprentice, lady approached me and let me know that I could order drinks but they were not currently doing food, but I was welcome to bring food over from another place and sit at their tables if I wanted to. Whilst waiting for my food from another place the “manager/owner” came over to my table and told me to leave otherwise he would call the police! At first I thought he was joking but he wasn’t! He said they were his tables and were for people buying from his place only - when indeed they are a public space and he does not own the area in which the tables sit, he made threats to call the police several times, threatened me and told me to leave! I shall never EVER eat or drink from this essay again. I’ve been coming to the the Mills for 20 plus years and have never had anyone in that time speak to me or treat me in the way this person did. Horrible horrible man, I wish I could have rated this experience zero out of 5

I have been to this pub, quite a few times, its a nice little pub to visit before going for a Sunday meal, it does have plenty of outdoor seating, in the fine weather, and the bar staff friendly. I look forward to returning again, after the lock down.

This is a good pub serving craft ales, quite a good selection of spirits as well, lot of space available inside and out. Enjoy

A friendly pub in a great location, a shame there aren’t more things going on, to ensure more business. It would be great if it was open longer hours.

Great selection of local beer, fantastic setting, friendly people. a real hidden gem. You can come here and sit by the river and enjoy the extraordenary setting of the Merton Abbey Mills with Londons only still working water wheel.

Nice little bar to sit outside in the sun if your visiting the area. Changed the outside area recently and more tables and sometimes live music. We did play the chess outside on several occasions but recently they have lost the chess set. Hubby likes the craft beer and I usually enjoy a rose but there is only one type of Rose and its dry so I usually opt for the Apple cider which is good.

Found by chance when looking at the water mill, friendly little bar, not the usual beers but still good. They have live music on a regular basis and some live sport; no food, just drink

Very good range of craft beers and when we were there there was one beer from the wood. Outside seating in the summer is grand. Rather pricier than some of the liocal real beer outlets but worth it if you like craft beers.

Love the sunny spot outside the Merton Apprentice, especially on a Sunday when there is live music playing at the Bandstand. Inside the pub is less nice, needs some tidying up. But its our favourite spot when the sun is out. Great Local beers, lots...

Fantastic selection of lagers and ales and friendly staff make this a great place to hang out and have drinks. Nice pork scratchings too!

We came for a few drinks before dinner round the corner and will definitely be back. Great craft ciders and beers and friendly staff. Lovely sun room out the front and a darts board inside which is a bonus too. Great pork scratchings as well!
