Very enjoyable. Charismatic place with good reasonable food. Hope it gets back to the nice vibrant pub it used to be. We could do with a reasonably priced carvery/Sunday dinner pub which always attracts people. Hoping for quiz nights etc to be added.

We rang up to book a table for 15 guests to celebrate Father’s Day for our father who had not long passed, the person we spoke to was very professional and took interest in the fact that this was a special occasion, even offering to play a sound track of our choice. When we arrived they had made great effort in setting up the table, with the loviest little touches and even a card which we thought was such a lovely gesture! Food was quick, with great service from all staff who were chatty, checking to see if all was okay with the food, they really went above and beyond which you don’t often get in pubs anymore, especially the customer service! We all ordered different food, everyone of our meals were cooked beautifully, I had the lasagna which was cooked perfectly, and the salad was to die for! We also all had deserts which were home made and again were delicious, especially my apple crumble which was huge. Best meal I’ve had in a very long time! It’s not long been taken over, which you could clearly see the new owners are working hard to get this pub back to what it should be, which is a family pub! We all said we would definitely all eat here again, as the service/food is best we have had in a very long time so thank you to all the staff who made this hard day, a easier one!

Visited for some lunch whilst working in the area. I was well looked after by Anne and Callum who were really friendly and chatty. The food was very good too, great Scampi and Chips!

Popped into The Harriers yesterday for a meal before heading off to see Cardiff City. The Guinness that my husband ordered we sent back, it was a dreadful pint. My Stella wasn't the best I've had. We both ordered the Cowboy burger, I had the skinny one. Burgers were dry, overcooked, cold and tasteless, the crispy bacon was the texture of the sole of an old dap! French fries were clearly refried numerous times but stone cold when they arrived at my husband. The poor lad waiting tables was clearly embarrassed by what he gave us. The barman was more interested in standing at the end of the bar chatting with his friend. Fish was unavailable on a Friday?!! Nobody was bothering to clear or clean the tables. A truly dreadful experience 😢 we won't be in a hurry to return. I wish that I could give this review NO STARS!!!

Christmas Meal. Dreadful. Food cold, laughable portion size. I had practically a jar of cranberry sauce on my huge plate for a slice and a half of turkey, cold veg and then veggie option was hot on outside and cold in the middle. Bar staff were snappy… possibly learning the ropes as Wine and Soda was served in a wine glass! My wine glass had seen better days. It was a work meal and we were all sat on different tables. Extremely costly for the quantity and quality of the food. Waiters were very inexperienced, the whole experience was awful. Have been in past years and have never had a problem, staff have always been friendly, food has always been nice. Work meals have always been well organised too.

Met with friends for lunch. Excellent service, good choice of food (although they had sold out of fish - we had scampi and chips instead). Prices were brilliant. Excellent value and generous portions. We asked for the light bites menu and thought we had been served the full price version! We will be back!

Had Sunday lunch here. Did not disappoint. Good value for money. Friendly staff. Faith was exceptional. Definitely going back.

Recently visited the harriers. Lovely food and drinks, Faith was very helpful with excellent customer service.

The service in the merrier harriers is second to none and the food is not only cheap but absolutely delicious as well!! I had the steak and ale pie and it was one of the best meals that I can remember!!! Highly recommend to anyone

Lovely place to visit for a family meal, the portion sizes were great and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. Staff were really friendly and welcoming and we’ll definitely return!

All 5 of us loved the food here. You can choose from the regular menu as well as the Sunday roasts, unlike many pubs. The food was hot eith generous portions. I had spicy chicken burger, 2 fillets with beef chilli, and it was stunning. You should book, though, because it is very popular and rightly so.

Friday Nights are Steak Night and what a great deal we had. Two steaks and 2 drinks for £20, fantastic deal! The steak was amazing, juicy and tasty and one of the best I've had for a long time and I combined it with a nice chilled glass of wine. The pub was buzzing with a great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended. I'll be back!....

it was the most strangest experiences I ever faced. It was in a strange place to start with, but it's quite hard to put it into words. The place left me in two minds. Its not a bad place.

Not from the area but popped in here for a midweek evening meal. I ordered the steak which was cooked to perfection and my partner had ‘The Beast’ burger which he highly recommends! Both meals arrived in a reasonable time and drinks were served quickly, despite the bar area being relatively busy. We noticed there was a weekly quiz held on a Sunday so decided to return to join in! The lady running the quiz was fantastic! If you are in need of some light hearted fun on a Sunday evening, The Harriers is the place to be - there was a brilliant atmosphere! The manager was walking round during the quiz, helping and joking with all the teams which really made us feel welcome. Brilliant little pub, I’m only disappointed we don’t live in the area so this could be our local!

Pedimos nuestras comidas en el bar 2 cursos para 9. 99 de la sección correcta del menú, nos dijeron que no podíamos tener la comida 'chippy' como Brains, aunque era una 'comida compartida'. Así que pedimos algo más. Tenía un primer plato y luego esperé más de media hora con un niño hambriento de 1 año antes de ir y pregunté en el bar si podíamos tener su comida mientras esperábamos la nuestra. ¡La mesera temperamental dijo que tendríamos que esperar ya que necesitaba servir detrás de la barra! ! ! ! This is a great pub. Staff are really friendly. They serve Brains beers which is locally produced. Sunday lunches are beautiful.

Really good food and great prices; just stopped for a quick meal and yet the food was superb and the staff friendly, couldn’t argue at all!

Specials were beautiful very tasty, good value and nice and relaxed atmosphere my grandparents come regularly and always enjoy it!

Dijo que una espera de 45 minutos, terminó siendo DOS VECES de eso, mi comida estaba quemada y fría, otras eran masticables, recocidas y frías como el infierno. 1 hora y 30 minutos para la comida terrible, habría salido si no se hubiera hecho para pagar por adelantado.

Vine hoy 4/1/19 con un amigo, 1 tiempo en la calle que ambos habíamos estado. . Ambos pedimos una hamburguesa y esperamos más de media hora para nuestra comida, que no entendí por qué cuando estaba bastante allí. . La comida salió y no hubo disculpas por tardar tanto. . Hacía calor cuando salió, pero las patatas fritas eran muy gresy, y el bollo era más grande que la hamburguesa y no tenía mucho sabor. . Era encantador, pero también era solo comida de pub. . También creo que podría haber un poco más de iluminación allí, ya que parte del pub estaba bastante oscuro. . Me gustaría volver y espero que si tengo otra comida será mejor.

Recientemente estuvimos en Llandough y comimos en Merrie Harrier. Tuvimos el bacalao de bajona, que era muy bueno, a menudo pagué mucho más por esta comida y la calidad no era tan buena. El personal era amable, bueno y no tuvimos que esperar demasiado para nuestra comida. Sin duda recomendaría este pub por su relación calidad-precio.

The food is so good I’ve been twice this week, both times I’ve had the garlic and lemon chicken with sweet potato fries & cauliflower cheese as a side, cooked perfectly & extremities tasty. Landlady is very welcoming and friendly I will keep returning here.

We were visiting Llandough hospital so called in for lunch the food and the service were good and it was reasonably priced.

Nice portions also filling. Are favourite starters as a family has to be the garlic mushrooms. Sunday lunch is always a treat to have here.

Another fabulous Xmas Day experience from Stacey and the MH team. Everything was just perfect once again. Super meal, great value and all served up with a smile, you could not ask for more. 11/10!

Had our work Christmas party here on Friday...what a night! The Merrie Harrier was able to cater for a rather large party (some with dietry requirements) and provided everyone with a fantastic 3 course meal which was delicious. We usually go to costly hotels which are double the price and with very little atmosphere in comparison. Our food was hot, and portions were large, I struggled to finish my dinner and pud and regrettably left some due to being too full. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, the disco was fantastic with a DJ ready to play what we wanted to enjoy ourselves. I'm already looking forward to our next party here. Fantastic...see you next year!!

Visited for Sunday lunch, very,very average... meat tasteless, beef chewy, pork dry, vegetables were ok , gravy thin! saving grace were the desserts, very nice. Staff were attentive, nice atmosphere but meal intself was a letdown.

Visited with friends for a quick catch up. The restaurant was full with people coming and going all the time. The menu was varied with something to suit everyone and the staff were friendly and eager to please. The food was inexpensive and well served and I would recommend it to family and friends. However, the pub is looking a little tired and could do with a makeover but that's the only downside.

Tuvimos una comida super en el Harrier esta noche. La comida era excelente, con una gran relación calidad-precio. Todo el mundo hace todo lo posible para que sea un ambiente muy acogedor y hacer lo que pide, incluso cuando se enfrentan con una extraña orden como caliente y fría tarta de manzana flan! 10 / 10 para todo, y todo el mundo. Fuimos para el almuerzo con las chicas del trabajo. Todos tuvimos el almuerzo de domingo, que era preciosa, estaba caliente y todos salimos juntos, lo cual fue genial ya que todos ordenados por separado. Valió la pena el dinero que pagamos. El único inconveniente fue la cena de pollo como estaba seco.

Dropped in for dinner on a Friday evening.Pub quite busy...with mostly families eating.Ordered scampi..tasty and hot and fresh.Puddings were tempting.Only down side...coffee machine appears always to be broken...so unless want plain coffee..no chance if a latte etc.

Looking in need of brightening up poor lighting, a great location which could do so much more trade than at present.Pub food is still good in my experience also reasonable priced drinks.Brains Brewery encourage more trade brighten up this establishment to compliment the good food and drink.

Visited today for lunch, nice clean restaurant and a very friendly lady behind the bar, I had tavernas chicken which was very moist and tasty, my son had plaice which he really enjoyed & my other son had a beast burger which was massive! Very nice place will return.

I went here with friends last week,i take my hat off to Brains Brewery,they seem to always get it right keeping pubs feeling like proper pubs with that nice 'local'feeling.The food was cooked beautifully ,the service was excellent and terrific value.

I used to think a lot of the food in this establishment, the Chilli Con Carne was BRILL.The last time was a surprise as we had to send the food back and re-order.the replacement order was fine.I do like this pub but it needs to keep it standards high and constant.PLEASE!

We've been here a few times over the years as it's local to us and so can be walked in 20 minutes.It's a strange one: I've been there some evenings and the bar area is busy. I've been there other times and the place is dead. We went there most recently for a cheap evening meal. There were plenty of tables and the service was quick. As it's a chain pub, it's pretty standard and you know what you're getting. The menu had an offer of two meals for £10, so that's what we did. I had the pasta, which was OK but nothing to get overly excited about. It's a proper get-what-you-pay-for kind of place, but it's cosy and not pretentious, so I feel comfortable here. Will certainly be returning.

This used to be a place my friends and I visited frequently but unfortunately it seems to have gone down hill. Service not brilliant

Three of us regularly visit the Merrie Harrier, always on a Sunday, and the customer service is excellent! The staff there are extremely friendly, albeit management or staff, and always go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your visit. The food is always good, and there are always "Specials" on the blackboard to choose from. Even if the meal you would like isn't on the menu, the staff in the bar AND kitchen do their utmost to prepare it for you.

Close to LLandough Hospital.Friendly Staff and clean location.We had a Dinner time Lunch it was excellent value and tasting good.We have had evening bar meals as well and have been good but the Chilli con carne on this dinner time was excellent.

This hospital is ideally located if visiting Llandough Hospital or surrounding area. The car park is very small which may be a problem. The building itself appears to be very old and on entering you may feel that it looks a little tired, however the menu choice is suprisingly good and food is of a very good quality. It can get a little noisy in the evenings, the background music is quite loud and somehow you do find yourself having to shout to talk to each other over music and other diners. This restaurant seems to be a cross between olde worlde, old man's pub, family pub/restaurant and young revellers hang out! Its hard to know which fits the picture but on the whole they do serve a good meal.
