Quick and easy for me, foods okay! Had some haddock and chips! Nice batter and chips are okay. Better than last time I went.

Visited a couple of years ago and food was great. However fish and chips tonight tasted as if they were stale, especially the chips. Unfortunately this has been the case on more than one occasion. Hence I won’t be returning.

Extensive menu, great choices for kids and vegetarians as well as gluten free options. Always busy and locals seem to love this place - I can see why. Owner (Don) works hard and is always friendly.

Popped by one evening too get a battered sausage and chips dinner, was left very disappointed. The batter was dry and hard while the sausage was tough to chew through. The chips were very greasy and did not taste very nice even with the copious amounts of salt and vinegar added, the taste did not improve. Friendly staff the only positive.

I usually treat myself to a small cod and chips at lunchtime every so often. For me they do a small cod and chips for £4.50 which is an ideal portion for lunch. Never had a dodgy portion from here and it’s consistently good

First time ordering. We'll be back. Good portion size. The cod was lovely, not hidden with loads of batter and very tasty. Ribs very good, well done Don! New go to Fish and Chips!

The food here is amazing. Well cooked and decently priced food. Pretty sure I’ve seen that they do GF options in fridays but not too sure. The staff and very welcoming and good to have a chat with 👌🏻

We come here once a week because it is on way from work, food never disappoints but staff and owner very miserable and service is not great, misleading signs about card machine

The most positive thing i can say about this place is how nice and fresh the food always is the chips are outstanding and never feel like frozen! The food is also really good value for what it is and the best way to expericance this place and the staff who work there is defiantly to in the shop and place your order to see how your food is prepared and how great it really is!

Ordered fish and chips for delivery after an hour i called to check and was told that my order was actually just leaving the shop as we spoke and that they were sorry for the delay. To my amazement around a minute later the delivery man knocked on my door?I paid and he left , when I unwrapped the food I found it had sweated in the bag so was wet and soggy but also cold. I can only guess that the food had been in the bag for quite a while. Really poor considering all of the good reviews this shop has on line.

My brother in law was over from The Netherlands in December and craved fish and chips. Over where he lives they really only sell fries served with mayonnaise, so he really needed this great British staple. I hadn't been to the Meriden Fish Bar before and was pleasantly surprised how packed is was. I know it was a Friday night, and the waiting time was 15 minutes, however, I thought, if the other customers were willing to wait then the food here must be good. Anyway, the food was great, and piping hot as one would expect and the portions were huge. My brother in law was very please, but he still had mayo?

very friendly , quick and good value for money and good food. can guarantee a good menu and lots of choice. reliable for a good evening and waiting times are very low if at all

Went to my local chip shop and wasn't disappointed great chips, fish is OK. The day I went they started to do pie n mash looked good to.

I have been coming here for years! A lovely family run it, and are always so friendly and smiling when you go in. The food is fresh, tasty and very reasonably priced!

We ordered a take away here for the first time and were extremely disappointed!! We normally order from the anchor and will stick to there in future, the chips tasted like they had been reused from earlier in day they were greasy and tasteless! The fish was greasy and overdone! And the kebab meat was cold, tasteless but had a bit of a kick!

Phone ahead as they were busy, but every Friday they do Gluten free fish and chips. You can also get mushy peas and onion rings as well as the usual fish and chips. I had cod and chips and it was amazing. Huge portion of chips and really lovely crispy batter. Such a treat as there are not many gluten free fish and chip shops out there.

When we heard a local fish & chip shop was doing a G/F Friday, we had to give it a go. The staff are welcoming and helpful. They have a wide and varied menu. Highly recommend the cod and chips with a side order of mushy peas or curry sauce.

Fabuloso Chippy - mejor pescado y patatas fritas por millas. . . En serio buen pescado, muy fresco, seco, pescado excelente cata en masa y se sirve en una caja de pescado inteligente que mantenían el pescado intacto y perfecto en la entrega (sí, entregar, y que también es un servicio fiable, rápido, incluso en una noche de viernes. ). Las patatas fritas son realmente preciosas, cocinadas en aceites fresco y limpio, con un excelente sabor de las patatas frescas utilizada - patatas fritas y ninguno de esa desagradable sabor de aceite vieja que tan a menudo desde un negocio de chips Mill.

Just had their gluten free Friday fish and chips and it was excellent. Mushy peas great too! Probably the best gluten free I've ever had.

Only shop in Watford who truly uses fresh fish daily and really chips none of this frozen stuff. Traditional British fish and chips shop ( also now selling gluten free fish on Friday night

Have been resident in north Watford for a few years and not found locally a 'good' chippy - until now! Yeah - a proper chippy not too far from home. First try last week and then again - both visits got fabulously tasty fresh fish, that was not wet or saturated in fatty oily batter. Really tasty with great chips (not frozen or old) and OMG to die for mushy peas. Try the excellent chip seasoning. So glad to have found a place to get excellent quality fried fish close to home.

I don't see how this has two negative reviews. It's such a good place as does a wide variety! Even deep fried mars bars. Staff working here were really kind and good to talk too!

Ordered two large cod, one was fine the other was half the size. I questioned it and was told that both were large but one was very big for a large which is why one looked smaller. Well, one was probably a medium and one was small at best.The chips were very greasy and after a short journey home the fish was already cold with the very small one being dry too!For the cost it is one of the worst fish and chips I have had!!

The childrens meals are very substantial. This is where they go when they have got a good result on their spellings at school!

The fish stank & we had to throw it away, it tasted rank!! would not recommend..Even the chips were tiny end bits!
