The Viking in Watford

Have been getting deliverys from the Viking for years and always enjoyed the food. It's the chilli sauce that makes the kebabs so good especially. The delivery drivers are always friendly and polite. Over all I've never contemplated going anywhere else.

They have unique taste of fish and chips and doner kebab.

What a rude sassy reply. you do not respond to PAYING customers like that . i paid for food and expect good quality to be delivered, (other places can easily be consistent so why is it so difficult for you !) fyi the food the last few times has not been up to scratch as you can see i barely leave bad reviews so it is not just to attack a business. i did not ring up because look at how you have responded to other complaints in this comment section and these are over a year ago and you haven't made any improvement. my review wasn't rude in the slightest so to get a response with sass is honestly plain weird . especially from a middle aged man like yourself Ijaz. ORIGINAL REVIEW: been coming here since i was a child! first chip shop i remember and usually is spot on...unfortunately i ordered last night and it came quickly but was not fresh and chips were just limp/almost undercooked and extra soggy - had to chuck them in the airfryer :(

Been eating here a while, the food is good, delivery is fast. Had a slight issue with an order last night, accidents happen and I judge a company on how they sort out the issue. They handled it like champs, sorted the issue right away, I can’t fault them and will continue using them as they rock with customer service

Average fish and chips i think for the money you should do better.. what I didn't like the most was random delivery drivers walking into the cooking section area and touching the food which is not acceptable at all.

Fantastic service and food as always top notch. I ordered large cod small chips & box of doner meat plus two cans of coke. It arrived before ETA. Food was hot and delicious. Massive value for money. Plus I got 2x really good size of cod, loads of chips -ordered small. Doner meat was good too. Not all rubbery & it was very nice. All of this came out to £20.96. Granted I’ve an Uber one account, with the special offers they had I got my huge chips for free. I would not go anywhere else. Thank you to the Viking!!! Amazing and fabulous!!!!

Great food and fast delivery. But do not sell Pollock which is a poor man's fish and a lot cheaper then other fish. I know it's not on menu. But can you tell me why.

Very nice people, good nostalgic fish and chips too. Seeing as I'm traveling they let me and my partner pay for a medium fish rather than the large fish and chips he gave us. Very canny.

Do not do traditional food for a English fish an chip shop. Up dated. Traditional means pork sausages, spam fritters, crackling and other pork products.

Delivered earlier by ten minutes. Even came back to give us extra garlic mayo as we had accidentally unnoticed the one they packed for us which was under the paper. I thought they hadn’t delivered it. I called them to deliver us a new one and they delivered it so quickly. This was a mistake in our behalf which we will apologise and refund them for. Great service.

I didn't have the curry source that I ordered. And the chips like they were about a week old and the fish wasn't cooked Enough.

More of a takeaway or delivery than a restaurant, The Viking Fish and Chips has some seating for dine-in customers. However, we stopped off for a meal of good ol' fish and chips and we weren't disappointed. I went into the establishment and made my order. Two fish and chips, tartare sauce and mushy peas. While I was waiting and watching the gents (Kashmiri, with the requisite sense of humour) were close to overwhelmed with the number of orders being prepared. There's an old expression from Australia that goes: "Busier than a one-armed cab driver with a bad case of the crabs." This was certainly the case at The Viking Fish and Chips. The food was delicious. The Cod cooked to perfection, the chips crispy with some scraps. Totally enjoyable and filling. Highly recommended.

Ordered the Viking Special including salad items to be included in special. It arrived without salad included. I also ordered a side salad separately so they clearly didn’t understand the order.

Don't get poisoned here! Avoid at all costs...

Viking chip shop, I've been going there on and off for years, and the standards have always been high, and there chicken shish kebabs They are great and always fresh chips. 5☆.

Always used to come here when in Watford and it was always good. But now it's another business where the price has gone up and the quality gone down. Hard chips, had to bin nearly half of them due to the amount with black eyes

Placed an order online for delivery, received two confirmation emails and then after over an hour of waiting phoned to check. They said they’d cancelled my order without notifying me. Terrible service.

I received a burger, but it was missing the lettuce, and it had red sauce on it . I don't eat red sauce. it's a shame cause this is the only place I come for my burgers as they are so nice.

Best fish n chip - doner, sausage & burger place around, been using them for 25yrs and still the tastiest, I love our family kebab nights and really look forward to them, we'll done guys for keeping the same recepies etc

Food was cold. Delivery was late. Curry sauce was so thin it may as well have been water and had no taste. Mushy peas portion could probably not have been smaller. Fish poorly (over)cooked. Waste of my money.

They have a Halal sign, but they also have non halal stuff on the menu. Please ask before ordering for Halal stuff.

1 star psml lucky there isnt a zero as thats all u would be getting after my order was 25mins late then turn up with What absolute garbage u call food being cold stale having to microwave your food to edible temperature after waiting past delivery time isnt what people expect paying you thier money won't be wasting my custom here again

The food was very nice unfortunately I was charged £140 for a £32 delivery as their online booking system was faulty.

Fish was lovely. But the chips saturated in oil which was not pleasant.

Jokers! Didn’t send half the order requested abd ciyldnt get hold of them to rectify error. Absolute cowboys! All contact numbers tried and didn’t work. They just hide behind apps like just eat etc.

Unfortunately the food was cold and tasted like it was cooked a while ago. Definitely not fresh. Disappointed as I buy from The Vikings quite often (usually I pop in and order so I know the food is fresh) but this time decided to order through this app. I’ll stick to going in rather than using the app, which I assume they try to use to get rid off any old food not sold.

The food was awful. Ordered large Cod but it was tiny, oily and not cooked fresh. Cold soggy chips that were not fresh. Had to throw the food away. Really disappointed as food is usually decent from here.

Probably in the Top3 best takeaways In Watford. Extremely efficient staff and service is top quality. Food never disappoints. Price reflects the quality of the food so is more pricey compared to some of the competition but worth paying extra for quality food.

Really nice chips (proper “chip shop” chips)

This has to be the best fish, chip and kebab shop in the county. We order from here at least twice a month if not weekly! Everything is very fresh almost every single time, and even when it's not been cooked immediately before serving it's still good. The kebabs have plenty of salad, they're made exactly how you want them, the kebab and chilli sauces are actually hot, the meat is cooked with searing, the grilled veg is amazing. Just every part of the kebab is how it should be. The fish is fresh and the portions are generous.
