💯 Absolutely terrible meal this evening very over cooked and onion rings burnt, sausage cindered had refund on onion rings but they said couldn't offer any compensation for anything else won't be eating or drinking in there again. 😞😡😡

First time ordering food from here. Breakfast was absolutely amazing. Delicious and great value for money. Will definitely visit here again. Highly recommend.

The Merchant is a pleasant place to dine, perfectly placed in the town centre, with parking at the rear. It has a nice relaxed atmosphere. The food is good value for money, the staff are extremely friendly, the service is efficient. It's an ideal meeting for lunch with friends, so long may it continue to serve the townsfolk.

Great bar relaxed. Nice seating area. Good atmosphere. Meals were great.

Always enjoy a pint and a burger here when we go to cannock, pity they no longer serve San Miguel 😢 but I guess you can't have it all.

I can never really fault the food, the prices are always reasonable and i never leave anything on my plate so I guess from that point of view I should be giving a five star review, however tonight it took the best part of an hour to get our food and when you're hungry you're hungry right. I can't say the atmosphere is bad, it just doesn't have any. I will say it doesn't always take almost an hour to get food but the atmosphere is always non existent, we go there for alright food at a reasonable price. The kids love the burgers and when mommy and daddy are paying it really doesn't matter how they taste. I don't want to be negative about The Merchant because it's alright and if thats what you want then you should definitely check it out.

Super place had a lovely meal food was delicious I had the chip shop platter and it was amazing.

Stopped going here for breakfast on Sunday morning. Foods gone down hill.They Bring your cup of hot water and a tea bag to make your own drink at one time has a little t pot which was so much better

The staff are really friendly, welcoming and very pleasant to talk to. The food is only 4 stars as majority of the time it's really lovely but then sometimes it can be unpleasant, the burger is sometimes a little bit burnt but other than that it's a lovely place to go to

There were no condiments on at least 8 tables in the vicinity of ours, small portion sizes

Long wait for food. After we had ordered, we heard other people being warned about a 45 minute wait. We received no warning, and in the end the wait was more like 1 hour anyway. Food was very nice, just a shame about the wait.

The staff were amazing today! We had 2 adults with learning disabilities who just came in for lunch and the lovely staff let them meet santa and the grinch, have a present and a grinch hat each. Can't thank them enough! The food was also beautiful. Thank you.

Great for families and for anyone wanting food amd drink in town. Reasonable prices comparable with whethersppons but the food is freshly prepared the service is fantastic and carers for all needs. Access for wheelchairs and pushchairs and always activities on.

Food is really hit and miss, eat here a couple of times a week, often don’t get extras that’s ordered with meals (waffle fries, fried egg etc), stale tortillas seem to be a common occurrence too. But often it’s simply excellent, guess it depends who’s in the kitchen. Their steaks are normally fantastic. No complaints over atmosphere and service though, both are excellent.

Nice surroundings pleasant staff but food came out cold. Had chicken tikka masala and a mixed grill. Chips cold meat cold and naan breads not cooked properly. Maybe an off night but won’t go back.

My wife and I went shopping in cannock town centre and treated ourselves to lunch . Very friendly staff serving drinks and took our order pleasantly surprised how clean the pub and table was as this hasn't been our experience in pubs in this area before. Food was hot and a good portion a full mixed grill and all day breakfast great value and treated our selves to desserts as mains was so good 👍 😋 thank you very much we will definitely return

I must say I was pleasantly surprised from the food here I had fish and chips mushy peas.. The service from the all the staff (waitress, bar Staff) was 100 excellent could not fault them at all 👏 . The fish well what can I say I have eaten fish in Cornwall & devon and it was top notch fish served here , batter was light & crispy beautiful cooked and very tasty , the mushy peas was as good as most places I've eaten in 4 out of 5 , the chips was very fresh and tasty just not enough of them shame really, my hat is off to the cook / chef you deserve all the credit you get because it was very nice food all round , I will be returning and I will let people know about the food here well done to all the staff who worked here today .......

Can’t have alcohol and they brought me the alcoholic version. No mango chutney for the curry. Dessert should have come with ice cream and it came with cold custard. Dessert was cold. Waitresses not bothered. Ask them to turn sound up on TV, said they would and didn’t. Allowing an old bald bloke to swear at the top of his voice in front of children. Poor

Didn't have any food...not comfortable...

I remember going there once and fair play to the girl that delivered the food to a table with older man and his family I presume, he tried to smack the servers bottom, but she must be used to him coz she swerved quickly and he missed, she took it all in good faith and the old man was a tad disappointed. His daughter or granddaughter can burp for England without any embarrassment. Imagine having to serve them or sit next to them. We'll done server.

Food was served piping hot and tasted lovely and fresh, the staff was lovely especially the lady who brought the food, she’s always polite even towards my children (sammy) always lovely to see her :)

Amazing place! Food is really nice. Staff are really friendly esp Donna she went above and beyond for us. Love going here even with the kids as they have special events on for them.

Had breakfast here, a good portion of food very tasty. The restaurant is clean and tidy, the servers are pleasant too.

Visited for breakfast with daughter and grandson. I had traditional daughter had breakfast burger and grandson had sausage and toast. Food was well cooked, hot and well presented. The girl who served us was very friendly and helpful. It wasn't overly busy but felt comfortable

Went for a family birthday meal, table of 11. The food was lovely, cake out really quickly. Had some picky children but all orders were correct, and the team couldn't do enough for us. Will definitely return

Garlic bread wasn’t cooked properly, they didn’t bring out one of the drinks and took us 15 minutes to get someone’s attention, when I went up to the bar couldn’t even get a word in was told to go to the back of the queue which was far too long to get a drink that I had already paid for, the staff were just rude, the girl who brought the cutlery to the table pretty much slammed it on the table and walked off

We asked for the fish and chips but they had sold out so had the scampi instead which was very yummy. Service was very good

Went to meet family and friends for a quiz night. Had a lot of laughs and a great quiz on a Thursday and Friday night.

Been to this pub now a few time and normally have a good experience. Went for lunch today as always the staff were really friendly even though they were mad busy but unfortunately the food was not up to the usual standards. Had to wait over 40 minutes which even though I was on my lunch break, I wouldn’t have minded had the food turned up and was editable. Ordered 3 items from small plates, chicken goujons and hunters BBQ chips. The goujons were overcooked and the other was soggy chips due to the change from grated cheese to cheesy sauce. Not liking the new menu and hope it’s just here for Christmas. Had it not been for the friendly service by the staff who were so busy and the fact we’ve had nice food from here in the past, if it had been my first time to this pub it would put me off going again.

Went to watch rugby, reserved us a table next to big screen, had the volume up too! Very helpful, great food.
