Sunday 15th July Horrible pub. Had next to no beer. Bar staff so miserable. Disco karaoke 2-8 wot a joke that was. Young end asked to sing wouldn't let them.

Always decent atmosphere in here beer is sometime flat lemonade is defo flat as out of bottle so depends on how long been open toilets are most often very clean which weird but yes okay for entertainment 😀

Not much I can say about this place. From the outside it looks very inviting. Sadly on the inside I witnessed drugs been sold and exchanged. Definitely a place to avoid.

Had Sunday lunch here a few weeks ago. Food was shocking WORST surprise day lunch ever. Food was cold,gravy really runny and NO MASH. What Sunday lunch has no mash beef was tough a d the turkey was not turkey its it was thin slices of turkey you'd buy from a Super market for sandwiches and the female server needs a perso amity transplant. No communication or interaction when serving the food or collecting plates.

Grim breakfast stone cold ... this place shouldn't bother with food ...

Absolute rubbish! Not for familys, full of men watching sport! Food diabolical, disgusting. Worst lunch out ever!

Ordered loads of times from here. Tonight I ordered online only to be told I was out of area. When I rang she said they had only one delivery driver and therefore we should order from somewhere else! Really disappointed and won’t be ordering from here again!!!!

Found it hard even to award 1 Star. At least the "Eurofizz" beer(?) is reasonably priced. You know a place is grubby when your new beer mat (available from the bar) sticks to the table. You know a place is unhygienic when staff clearing tables fail to use anti-bacterial wipe. You know the place is downright minging when baby puke is wiped from the floor and the mother dumps the offending tissues on the table! April 2023 - Three years later New Management Shabby, no improvement. AVOID!

We came out for food but stopped serving food . We got there for 5 that's when most people come out for food so was disappointed we travel all that way for nothing.

Looking tired and shabby which is a pity, it was a lovely breathe of fresh air in Ossett

My Partner, a friend & myself had started making the Maypole our regular a couple of times a week. There were always a few friendly locals that we'd generally see & plenty of people coming and going. The atmosphere has developed over the past couple of months with the introduction of karaoke (great sound system) & live singers. This gives a warm welcoming vibe. Bar staff are generally courteous & helpful. The two negatives I feel compelled to state is that the gas on the BUD is hit & miss so the drink can be uncharacteristically flat time & time again. The other problem is the number of children literally running circles around the whole area, using the settees as trampolines, or spreading the seat cushions throughout walkways then running to dive on them. I get they are the responsibility of their parents but other patrons should not have to put up with unwonted behaviours. Management really need to deal with these issues as well behaved children should be welcome in adult environment but not unruly behaviour using it as a playground that spoils other people's enjoyment.

Was looking for a pool table and found one here, everyone seemed nice enough too

The atmosphere is really nice and friendly, the staff are very welcoming, quick service for food and nice drinks selection, has baby changing room which was good and plenty of room for a double pushchair, we ordered the hunters chicken and was abit disappointed actually as other places I've been to eat this main it comes with a lot more things and has a lot more BBQ sauce, the bacon was all fatty and the chicken was bland, but the chips were homemade and very chunky and nice, it came with peas and they were over done, we asked for more bbq sauce and the waiter just said all the sauces are near the bar, but very limited, which were all packet sauces so was quite disappointing but still enjoyed it and ate the meal

We accompanied our daughter to Ossett to pick up her wedding dress for her wedding on Saturday 15th July. We parked up just opposite The Maypole, so we had lunch. Drinks to start while we checked the menu. Steak pie chips and peas for my wife and I, Scampi chips and peas for our daughter. We all agreed the food was spot on! Congratulations to the chef. Service good. We would recommend a visit.

Decent pub. Great selection of drinks. Especially the top shelf selection. Recently reopened the kitchen. Mixed grill for £15.... and it was delicious

Wow had the chilli con carne, it was perfect the pub was clean & tidy and staff friendly, food came out in a reasonable time and was waiting for.. amazing

Bit rough and ready but prices are good

Sam is a friendly landlord that cares what his customers think about the pubs atmosphere, food and cleanliness. All his staff are lovely, eager to serve but still try to have a chat with you. The menu is good old pub fare , really tasty , plenty to choose from and hopefully getting a carvery for Sunday lunches. Why not call in and see for yourself

Visited for the first time on Sunday and had a very nice experience. Live sports, decent food and great prices for drinks.

2:50 a pint till 6 mon to Thursday

Bar ladies were lovely and very efficient, think tip jar should be introduced for their benefit

Food was delicious and atmosphere was pleasant.

Dirty tables, unpleasant, horrible lighting. Came in for a pint after work to unwind but it was not a relaxing experience. Kids running riot round the pub and surly teenagers on the pool table.

Come to Ossett to town hall had a drink and a meal food was lovely friendly pub

Went there this evening and ordered a beer and nachos, 7pm. 7.40pm and still no food. Went to the bar to enquire about my order. This time, a different member of the bar staff looked at me quizzically while informing me that they stopped serving food at 4pm due to staff shortages. After waiting 5 minutes for him to prod the till, I finally received a refund for the nachos. When I work, I work professionally; I don't expect people to lick my boots - but taking my money for food when service stopped 3 hours previously is taking the Michael. The barmaid who took my order issued a perfunctory-but-insincere apology. This place is constantly closing and reopening: is it any wonder?

Nice looking place from outside, plenty of tables most of them dirty when we went in, food on the floor too, staff need to be cleaning up more. Reasonable prices on drinks and plenty of choice. Didn't eat there not sure what time food is served until but must be a busy place to eat due to messy tables and floor. Will definitely go back due to cheap drinks.

This place won't be my local anymore. I came in yesterday and left utterly disappointed and felt that I had just wasted my Friday lunch time. Firstly, the female barmaid working at the time (Friday 24th June) that served us was quite the definition of inhospitable - no customer service, rude and lacked simple manners. Nobody is going to feel invited if you can't even give a simple hello and a smile. When I received my pint, I mentioned the dirty glass and she gave the most unprofessional response as if hygiene doesn't exist. The food was average at best, decent for the price. However, is it normal to see the chef more than the front of house staff, as 2 cigarettes in 20 minutes (without washing hands afterwards bare in mind) is a bit poor and surely isn't allowed? Toilets could be maintained a bit better, it's not good having no toilet roll on deck. This place has had potential for years, but that takes good management, friendly staff, good staff working conditions and top hygiene. I only ever post positive (extra mile sort of kind) or alternatively, disappointing and unfortunately this one relates to the latter. All the best, but I won't be returning.

The place is disgusting, I went in for food yesterday from the limited menu spent 25.00 there I ordered a pint of diet coke which was out of the fridge it had just been put in cos it wasn't cold they didn't have any ice that was 3.00, secondly not so friendly staff when the food arrived I found a bone in my fish The list goes on the place needs shutting down in my opinion I won't go there again and won't hesitate to tell people if they ask me what it's like

I was hoping the place would be better with new management, if anything it’s worse. the strawberry blonde bar maid had 2 cigarettes within 5 minutes of me and my family being there. The chef is constantly sat at the bar which put me off the food. Forced to sit outside due to eggy stink coming from the bar area. Honestly the dirtiest pub I’ve ever been to. Shame.

Not sure about this place.. it was empty so hard to judge.. very bland and cold

0 STAR REVIEW Only 1 star due to lowest rating being 1 star. If it was a option for 0 stars I would 110% rate as 0 stars. Absolutely appalling customer service & staff demand money for a drink within 5 minutes of sitting down. My girlfriend ordered a drink whilst we waited for my girlfriends best mate and her mates partner to arrive. My girlfriend had already ordered a coke when the barman came over to us both and said I "must order a drink whilst we wait otherwise he must ask me to leave", this is despite sitting on the same table as my girlfriend. As far as I'm concerned a pub or bar can't harrass customers for payment and drinks. The barman in photo below is the staff which is apparently being treating customers like dirt for years. I'm very surprised that 2 other customers walked out after us both due to how disgusted we was treat. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Absolutely disgusting public house. They serve underage teens and allow them smoke cannabis outside the premises. The drinks are of poor quality and the staff are useless and extremely unhelpful. Toilets have no seats on them. The food is like slop, dirty glasses, feet stick to floors, holes in furniture. Why would anyone drink in this complete toilet of an excuse for a pub? Scrubbers!!!

Brilliant husband and wife team. Polite, welcoming and drinks ordered and paid at your own table. Covid restrictions adhered to. Clean, tidy and felt like I had known them years after my first visit.

Only stayed for one beer which I did not finish. Beer Was flat. Table was really sticky. Sick in doorway when we entered. Not going back.

Absolutely shocking waited 25 minutes for a beer service is unbelievable Jeff wouldn't mined but there was only 5 ppl in the pub. I ended up getting my money back and took my business elsewhere 🤔✌️

Well it was the first time I set foot in this pub today and it will most certainly be my last an all! My mum had arranged with the Manager to go in to have a chat about a surprise get together for a special 25th wedding anniversary. To be told by the young lad behind the bar the Manager has forgotten and didnt know if she would be in today! The manager obviously couldnt be arsed to even get in touch to say she couldn't make it today! And we had come all the way from Halifax as well especially! As my mum was saying she was upset about it the young lad started smirking and stressed that he shouldn't of even been in work today! Which is always encouraging! Talk about no customer service and no customer skills whatsoever! Certainly no tact! From my experience today other peoples reviews are hardly surprising to be honest! And we didnt even eat or drink in there either which I am glad I wasnt if thats how they treat their customers! First time I have set foot in there and most certainly my last! The manager isnt obviously managing at all! A total and utter disgrace! It's common courtesy to let people know if your not going to be there! When you promised to be! If I ran my business like this I wouldnt have any customers left! Total utter disgrace! If they were a zero star option for 0 stars this pub would certainly get it! Unfortunately I had to give 1*. Star!

Service very very poor. Very noisy as its a sport bar but music way too loud. When busy can take as long as 10 mins to get drinks at the bar

Average pub. Several nice barmaids but one miserable one. Used to do food, but not anymore (except sandwiches). Used to always have a varied selection of 3 or 4 real ales but now lucky if they have more than 1, and they had none at all over Xmas! Definitely going downhill.

Visited on Christmas day,the staff were very good,unfortunately the place has gone downhill since my last visit in april

We use to have some nice meals at lunch time,now it's gone down to half a dozen different sandwiches even lime cordial wasn't available to go with lager.its getting crap.there was about 8 different people in while I was there today with 2 friends.we were there about1- 30hrs.wouldn't be surprised if it shut in the near future

The Maypole is an average city pub.Big and comfortable. Has a pool table and TV's showing sport. Food is average and priced to suit.

Beer was very mediocre. First pint sour. Secondcwas almost drinkable...

Worst place in town to drink. High prices and poor service. Also it's a dump

Gig nights are great fun, however the decoration could be a pub any where. Nice choice if beers & ciders but nothing individual about the place

Go to maypole at least once a week for coffee, many people go for meals, it is very popular

Went here with my Mum and girlfriend for a quick lunch. At first it just seemed like an ordinary pub which the staff weren't really keeping on top of the cleaning off - the bar and many of the table were sticky from not being cleaned properly and the place could have used a vacuum... The food however, was really, really good! My girlfriend and I had the chicken kebab flatbread and my mum had the lasagne and we were all very happy - especially considering the price of all 3 of our meals was only just over £20. The place needs some TLC, but id still 100% recommend it.

Lovely pub lunch (big portions and food was really nice), fairly quiet (Wednesday afternoon), friendly staff. Could have a relaxing afternoon here, cheap parking behind.

Used to be a nice place to drink but has taken a nose dive in recent years. Dirty glasses, dated decor and some of the staff could at least try to crack a smile! No wonder it's dead most of the time. Friday night 1030 an only 2 of us in the entire place. Says it all!
