I would highly recommend this place, I visited this place for the second time now in a week in Crouch End, earlier I visited it for Sunday Roast. What bought me here was the best fantastic food and great service back on sunday, which I got yesterday as well from our server Meet. He’s really a very friendly person, he really gave us a very great service both the days.

Visited this place for a Sunday roast with a group of friends. The sticky toffee pudding was a delight. The wonderful service and very friendly nature by Meet made it an enjoyable afternoon!

This place has good snack options alongside pints. The service was quick, and made friends with the staff there. Lovely people. Shoutout to Meet, keep up the good work.

Grateful for friendly conscientious helpful service from the excellent server Meet and delicious healthy fish. Good medicine. Recommended.

Had been for a long walk over Hampstead Heath and was getting hangry by the time we walked into a very busy and buzzing Maynard this evening and wasn't expecting much as the staff were run off their feet but was very pleasantly surprised when Ben and Maggie the lovely staff members of the Maynard stepped right in .. found us a booth table against all odds and continued to be courteous and efficient throughout our time there..thanks for looking after us guys..much appreciated Ps food was great too

Staff were pleasant and helpful plus the ambiance was good for our discussion group.

This was such a lovely pub to stop at for an impromptu lunch. Spacious decor, light atmosphere and our fish n chips was delicious. We followed it up with a selection of mocktails which was a perfect way to finish our meal. And big thanks to Shanks, who served us. It was a pleasure to have such wonderful service and he made the whole afternoon so enjoyable too.

The Maynard does my favourite roast in Crouch End. Their staff are also very helpful and friendly. However, the last time I visited, the whole place smelt horrible - like toilets/drains. Let's hope this is a temporary problem!

Sunday lunch was fantastic. The crackling on the roast pork was really crunchy and the porchetta was lovely and tender. The host managed to accomodate us on a larger table which was a nice touch. great service.

This is the 3rd visit to The Maynard which I have previously given 5 stars each time. However, yesterday’s visit was just a little underwhelming as far as the food went. My chicken roast was generous and the veg delicious but the chicken itself and gravy were very under seasoned which spoilt my overall enjoyment. My friend ordered the beef and said the same. The meat was also quite tough and chewy so once again, this spoilt her overall enjoyment. That said, on a positive note, the service was excellent and our bottle of Pinot Noir, reasonably priced and delicious which made up for the slightly disappointing food. We will check out the regular menu next time we visit. Which we definitely will.

Always a nice time and good food, the specials for valentines were really good, especially the tiger prawns, and the raspberry tiramisu!

Good food and service every time I come here, very big and spacious pub with a really homely feel to it. We sat in a cosy booth in the restaurant, well presented space, bright and warm.

Have come here for lunch a few times now and cant stay away! I've had the steak sandwich and the cheese toasty both are very tasty. good service too.

Really good burgers and fish and chips! also had a couple of plates of some prawns with a vietnames sauce and cucumber which was absolutely delicious

Valentines dinner was delicious! Our table was beautifully decorated and the food was amazing! Service was very attentive.

Great pub, been here regularly on various occasions, and food is very tasty. Today I was left somewhat stunned when ordering a cocktail: bartender finished pouring it, quickly licked his fingers, and then took a straw and stuck it in my drink. Everything was perfect except the finger-licking part. He could have licked them afterwards, but doing what he did defies common sense. Unlike Vermeer, this bartender with a pearl earring did not garner my admiration.

Really tasty Sunday roast. Was very busy and quite noisy with families and children. But enjoyed our meal.

A very relaxed family environment with tactful service and high quality food. The Sunday Lunch was a good portion though some big eaters might want sides. The dessert, though overly generous with large chunks of honeycomb was a lovely end. A good selection of cocktails and non-alcoholic mixers too.

The food (roast dinner) came out before we got out drinks. The portion was good but it felt like it had just been heated up briefly before being served.

Great food and great service. The table next to us was a little loud but it was fine especially with 50% off.

Food disappointing. Too much undercooked batter on fish. Venison overcooked inedible. As the Maynard is one of my locals I will return. Maybe not for the food though. It seems to have dropped in standards.

My son's meals was very good and mine was good but my wife felt the options for veges was limited.

The Maynard is a very reliable pub for a Sunday roast. The pork belly is especially good. Their cheeseburger is also delicious. Very small complaint: cauliflower cheese is way too runny and cauli undercooked. Sort that out and it'd be 10/10. Nice staff and pleasant atmosphere. Nice pub garden for when the weather is warmer, too.

We were hungry and ordered the rump steak and the burger and boy did it hit the spot. Both meals were plentiful in size and packed with flavour. The steak was tender and soft to chew while the burger was probably the best I’ve had in a restaurant for a long time (the way it was built and the ingredients that were added) so credit to the kitchen staff for this.

The waiters were fantastic but I’m sorry to say that food was shocking I had been there few times and always good but last night was a terrible let down

Food was very disappointing. Might have something to do with it being New Year’s Eve. Sound was all over the place with music playing out of speakers and piano in pub

Family of 5 just had a great lunch on Christmas Eve, served by the lovely Manon who was full of cheer and was very helpful! We had some tasty starters and main dishes so will visit again!

Only okay - the food was nothing special. Service was friendly and it’s a nice place.

It's a lovely venue and the staff were great, but the food wasn't. The avocado toast was lovely, but the tofu "fish" and chips were bland and greasy and the mushroom and leek pie was mostly leek and very little mushroom.

Delicious food. Service was good and pleasant but they were struggling to be as responsive as we would have liked purely due to the number of covers. Main negative issue was noise. Music was far too loud. Also, the management need to address the issue of behaviour from families attending with young children (adults’ behaviour, not children’s). We don’t think that “children should be seen and not heard”, far from it, it’s important children join in family meals. But allowing children to play video games and YouTube etc out loud (bring headphones!) at high volume on tablets and phones ruins the atmosphere for those of us who want to talk to each other and catch up. Also children were running around and screaming, this isn’t their fault, children can’t sit still for long periods of time, so encouraging parents to keep meals short so that they can take their children out for a runaround is essential.

Booked a table in the garden which was lovely and cosy even in the middle of winter. It was cold out but they have heaters so it was okay... a little mulled wine helped as well!

Just popped in for a beer and ended up staying for lunch, had an amazing cheese toasty and got it a bit cheaper as they had a lunch deal on. Great selection of beers on the bar.

Running out half of the menu,one starter and one dessert available,all the vegetables and vegan options out of the stocks. Just realise when ordering. Burgers stone cold look ready 20 minutes before. Disappointed.

Booked a table for two at 2 pm for a Sunday roast, and the place seemed very nice, but sadly when I went to order the food I was told the kitchen was overloaded and were too busy to serve any more food. I get that these things happen, especially at busy periods, but it was still pretty disappointing, and surprising, particularly since we'd booked beforehand and made the journey specifically there. Left and went elsewhere in Crouch End.

Top spot for food, the menu is incredible for a pub. I had the roast hake which was so good, my partner had the venison which looked so good and for venison the price was decent. excellent service too! Our new local

Wandered into this beautiful pub late on a Sunday evening looking for a good roast, had a roast beef and cauliflower cheese and everything was so delicious!

Really strong roast dinner and sides. Service was good up until the bill which took a long time to come and then even longer to pay. Just such a disappointing way to end a meal and such an easy thing to get right hence the three stars for service. Everything else was pretty good. Solid recommend for the area.

2 of us turned up initially to be joined by 4 others later for lunch, we were informed by a small sign on the bar & the staff that they only accepted cards which is ridicules, we then cancelled what would have cost in the region of £550 + worth of business & went to the Victoria Stakes.They must be making so much money it doesn't matter. This is a nice boozer with excellent staff but you have to realise most people don't want to give 2% to -ankers every time we buy something.

Best roast pork I've had in a pub! good service, and beautiful restaurant. Will definitely be back soon!

Went to watch the Rugby final and were able to find seats even though it was very busy, the staff even set up an extra tv in the restaurant to accommodate more people. The atmosphere was buzzing in there. food and drinks all very good. service was on point even though it was so full. Great pub!

Local brilliant pub, food is consistent and good, vibe is friendly and there are great spaces both indoors and garden. Staff make it though - shout out to Shanks!

Where to start? Food took over an hour to arrive and wasn't great when it finally did. The risotto was lukewarm and didn't appear to have any resemblance to risotto: was a sort of tepid frogspawn. We were told the problems were due to us being "a large party" (five people on a not too busy Thursday evening). Young staff seemed to have been placed as innocent shields for invisible management. We felt sorry for them, having to explain and excuse some behind the scenes ineptitude.

Plenty of choice on the menu, especially for those with dietary requirements. Food was tasty, and the service from Shaukar friendly and attentive. Would recommend

We went for my daughters birthday there was 12 of us, we had outside seating which was lovely, it's really cosy. We had the Sunday roast, the food was lovely and the portion sizes were very generous. I had the chicken my daughter had the beef we were very happy. My only complaint would be that we waited sooooo long for our food. The staff are lovely and friendly. Overall we had a lovely experience. Look forward to coming back again soon. Thank you 😊

Our U3A Writing Group meets here each month. Great space for groups. Food is okay/tasty but service is the BEST. Today we were served by Shankar, the Ladybird Book definition of a proper waiter. Friendly, professional, and generous with the welcome. A truly great neighbourhood pub.

The waiting staff were extremely helpful but were rushed off their feet, it must have been a short staffed day because we usually love coming here and the service is always excellent. We were told on arrival the wait for food was an hour, I ordered roast chicken and my boyfriend ordered vegan roast wellington. 25 minutes in we were told they had run out of chicken (it was 5pm) so I chose beef, then another 20 minutes passed and we were told the vegan roast had also finished. The only other vegan option was an aubergine salad so we paid for our drinks and left. The waiting staff were lovely and very apologetic, not sure what happened with the food order that week! We have eaten a roast here before and it was delicious, so would definitely recommend (just maybe book a lunch sitting instead of dinner!).

Food was great, only problem was the wait: we ordered at 2.30pm with the expectation set by the nice staff that food would take an hour to arrive. We got our mains at 5pm.

I feel bad because I can tell the staff were under pressure, but the waiting times and attentiveness of staff was really poor. The food was nice, but they ran out of options on the menu quite early on in the day. It’s a beautiful pub, and hopefully on another day you’d have a different experience.

Great Sunday lunch, the veggies are excellent. The meat was great, one of the best Sunday roast dinners in north London. Service was a little slow but understandable as the place was packed. Worth the wait.

lovely food I had the porchetta Sunday roast the flavors were really nice and staff very attentive Meet was a lovely waiter he made sure we were well catered for, the meat was full of flavour and nice portions would deffo recommend.

Not enough staff on in the middle of Sunday lunch. Took over 40mins from booking time to give our lunch order. Long queues at bar. Everything else ok considering. Won't return until this improves.

Booked outside but offered table inside. Glad we went inside as lots of smokers outside where people eating. Had ti wait an age to be served however food cane fairly quickly. Not the best roast ive had and not the worst!

Went for a Sunday roast with my parents! They never eat something outside Italy, so I was a bit worried. They really enjoyed it and were very happy for everything! Service is outstanding, and the place is clean with a good atmosphere! Recommended!!

Unfortunately service was very slow, the Maynard was practically empty, therefore we were surprised how long the food took to arrive. The Macaroni cheese was sloppy and oily, we found it inedible, we all attempted it in case we were able to swop dishes, that didn't work either. However the waitress was friendly, helpful and served us in time. I wouldn't go back for food, the pub has a pleasant cosy atmosphere for a drink.

The Maynard Arms is always superb for a Sunday lunch. Shanks and the team are so courteous and welcoming and they really go out of their way to take care of everyone. The porchetta roast is particularly good. Great pub.

Service good, very quiet so a bit lacking in atmosphere. Kitchen was having a bad night. Fish and chips: Fish - great. Chips flaccid and over cooked, looked like they had been in the friar a few times more than thrice. A tiny bowl of peas, perhaps a desert spoon if that. Why bother with the home made ketchup (also tiny portion) if the basics aren't right. Specials: Lamb was supposed to be with salsa and cooked medium rare. It came well done with gravy and a tiny bit of salsa. I cant understand how you can have almost as many specials as main courses. Not sure if this is brewery driven or kitchen led? Having been coming here for > 20yrs we will of course be back but was so dissapointed that I felt I had to write.
