First Chinese from here and is one of the best! Portions aren't as large as others, but quality over quantity 100% Lovely front of house guy, very good price and enjoyed by all ☺️ Our new regular

I have been coming here regularly for the past year since it has changed ownership (I did not enjoy the food before) and have thoroughly enjoyed the food now.. I always ask for low salt and no msg where possible and they are more than happy to cater for my specific dietary requirements.. I find the food very tasty and all dishes are true to expected taste, good size portions as well. Highly recommended.

Despite some great local competition, the May Flower won this year's (2023) best takeaway chips in Llandovery as voted and awarded by my Scout group. When we all visited to award the certificate, they were very welcoming.

Friendly enough, but God, I miss Stuart cos he could actually cook & turn out tasty meals. Now it's awful

Came to Llandovery for a holiday away. Chinese takeaway was good, not better than our local but still enjoyable !

Great tasty dishes and good service.

Best place for meat free takeaway in the area! Loads of tofu dishes. When they ran out of tofu, they even made us something special that was vegan! It was delicious!

Chow mein too much oyster sauce. Fried rice undercooked. Prawns were old and watery. Why don't these new people get Stewart in to show them how to cook and present Chinese food? Their standards are now profit based rather than quality based unlike Stewart. Things need to change because people are now talking and are full of scorn about this once brilliant take away. I ordered sweet and sour pork last night with fried rice and pancake roll. The pork was rock hard and tasted really bad. I couldn't eat it. The pancake roll was old and didn't taste good. I couldn't eat it. The fried rice was over 3 days old and very dry in texture. It was inedible! Having paid over £12, I was fuming at this consistently poor service. Llandovery people are saying that it has gone downhill rapidly after taking over the business from Stewart who was brilliant. The public has a right to enjoy Chinese food and get value for their money. Mayflower Chinese is now a breeding place for out of date preparation. I suffered diarrhoea the morning after and even though I phoned them to complain, they couldn't be bothered to reply!. Now I intend to escalate this in the hope that these kids get their act together and employ a Chinese adult who knows how to cook and prepare!

Excellent meal ,well above average ,all 4 dishes were spot on ,pity its so far away from me ,id be a regular if it was on my doorstep ,i would highly recommend this place .

Everyone loves a chinese. .This 1 is i have to say was 1 of the very best and would have given 6stars....Still has A good menu choice, kitchen door open so you can see them cooking their hearts out and that enspires confidence to me to see what they're doing. The food is Always piping hot and fresh, and new owners are very kind and polite. Unfortunately since its been taken over, the flavours arent as good as the previous owners. Curry, crispy beef and rice dishes are excillent, but swt/sour & lemon chicken doesnt taste quite right. Im sure others will enjoy , but a no for us .

I don't particular like to give bad reviews but this was a bit poor. Only had a 1/4 crispy duck. Severely lacked on the crispy and not much taste to it either. Can't help but feel if a place can't get that right it doesn't give much hope for the rest of the menu. Service was good enough, and speedy for a Saturday, but speed may explain the lack in quality.

NOT A PATCH ON WHEN STEWART I BELIEVE HIS NAME IS WAS THERE. MY EGG FRIED RICE THE OTHER NIGHT HADN'T BEEN COOKED THOROUGHLY, THE RICE WAS HARD .

One of the best takeaways in the area. Lovely noodles great prawn dishes and bbq ribs with plenty of meat on them, rice is a bit tasteless and chicken is fine if you like white meat, beef also a little tasteless, pork is better.

Used to be the Greatest Chinese ever, worth the wait, always busy which speaks for itself, but since the recent changes not as good as it used to be, still pretty good but not amazing

Staying locally for a week, this place is terrific. Phone manner and face to face service was superb (not common these days) food was ready in 18 mins and tasted great! Had a lousy chinese elsewhere earlier in the week so I was nervous, but had no need! Heartily reccomend and may try and sneak in one more order before we go!

We’ve used the Mayflower for years and years but recently had a really bad experience. Phoned for a takeaway at 5:10 (ten minutes after they open) and were told it would be ready at 7:25 - a bit of a silly wait time to start with. I got there to pick it up and AFTER having paid was told it was going to be about 25 minutes late. This is after already doing a 30 minute drive to get there. I said that was really unfair that they hadn’t called to say it was late, to which I was told “we only call people if it’s going to be 30 minutes late”. A bit stunned by this I asked for some money back for the very long wait to which they essentially replied “no”. Serious lack of customer service skills at play here and also in a rural area where people are travelling to you it would be common courtesy to tell them if they’re order is going to be later than expected. The food was alright. The ribs and beef in black bean were great but the sweet and sour vegetables wasn’t good and the vegetable chow mien was decent. The vegetable spring rolls were really good but the prawn crackers were unpleasantly greasy and soft.

Very nice food good portion sizes reasonable prices worth a visit.

Whenever I'm passing through I will always treat myself to this Chinese. (A hidden gem) It's number one the best Chinese there is. I'm from London, and nothing can top the Mayflower in Llandovery. Great service, and the food is delicious.

Chicken balls tasteless, Singapore rice bland not a hit of spice, and chicken curry was more like chicken gravy, no curry taste whatsoever. I've had tastier Chinese ready meals to be fair.

We just spend over £50 between our two families had to wait over 2 hours to collect after ordering at 6pm, which is fine if u get good food!!! It was so disappointing beef curry usually has good taste and texture to the sauce but was tasteless and watered down...curry sauce bbq sauce and sweet n sour sauces were so watered down u could hardly taste what they were. We couldn’t decide if the bbq was a watery gravy or a bbq sauce, chips overdone and not fresh and the sweet n sour chicken was mostly batter with tiny pieces of chicken inside... very very disappointing after just sitting our holiday home in Llandovery in august. The first time we had a takeaway back in august was delicious this time I’m afraid has been the worst Chinese takeaway experience we have ever had. Never had such watery flavourless sauces .. our family would have been good customers but I’m afraid we will be giving Chinese a miss from now on. Lovely young lady served us and was pleasant oh and the prawn crackers were great that’s all I can say good I’m afraid

Expect to wait and even then wait some more regardless of if theve taken your phone number , food was alright managed to muck up our order though so by the time we got home , I person was minus a dish!

Popped in on my way through the village while I was charging in the car park. Picked up mini spring rolls, plain chow mein and egg fried rice. The spring rolls were nice, the rice and noodles were a little bland but that isn't a bad thing when mixing with other dishes and sauces. Well priced and service was quick especially given the measures in place.

Always excellent food and service is great too. If you have never tried this place you really need too. x

Told to arrive 19:20, it’s now 19:50 and we still haven’t had our food. Disappointing.

Ordered a takeaway this evening and was horrified and disgusted to find pieces of meat in my so called vegetarian spring roll. Any vegetarians should be aware I feel I have to say.

Best Chinese I've had, and equals the best I had in London when I lived there. And if you're not quick, you will have to wait. It is that popular.

Called in tonight before 7pm for a takeaway -we're staying close by for the weekend. Told it would be at least an hours wait. No thank you
