Had a lovely delicious lunch ... suprise party for one of our friend"s birthday . Really friendly waitress & chef....food portions very generous 👌, & given there were 19 of us , very efficiently delivered, the only minus point was the chap behind bar ..not exactly"jovial" , and when some of the ladies wanted coffee at the end of the meal..it was met with a negative 😞

Three of us went on a Friday evening (25th Oct). When we approached off Bluestone Heath Road in the thick fog it looked as if we were arriving at some sort of festival! Cars everywhere, on the road, up the kerb… Thank goodness we booked as when we entered it was absolutely heaving with two roaring fires going. Good vibes though. As I approached the bar, instead of some stubborn regulars sticking to their spaces they obligingly moved so I could get to the bar. You need to be aware that the pub only takes cash, you pay at the bar for drinks and the serving staff for food. Bit of comedy at the start as we were moved from table to table a few times but we were eventually settled in the restaurant which was great as the bar was extremely loud with everyone talking and having a good night. The food was absolutely excellent. One steak and guiness pie with of gravy (I did ask for loads), sirloin steak and a lasagne. We couldn’t fault any of it at all. The staff were all very friendly and the cook was out about making sure that everyone was being sorted. Yes we were seated somewhat later than our 6.30 booking but it didn’t really matter. We only live a few miles away in another village but we had only recently heard that the pub’s reputation was growing in a good way. The beer was very well kept too. Finally, sensible prices for this day and age. Anything not to like? Nope. PS, bear in mind it can get very warm in there when it is packed, so dress lightly! Cheers, we will be back as we hear that the Sunday dinner is to die for!

It’s over 5 years since we visited this gem of a pub in the Lincolnshire Wolds village of South Ormsby. Visiting this pub is like returning to the 1960s no tv no pool no duke box no darts .Making it a pleasure to sit down with friends and enjoy a good conversation. There is a menu and a specials board too .One of our party decided on the chicken breast served with garlic and mushroom sauce with vegetables. I chose the pie and wasn’t disappointed the beef fell apart .The vegetables cooked perfectly. Now the boys decided on haddock home cooked chips and mushy peas as it was Friday .Clean plates all round .Timothy Taylor’s and an ale from the local 8 sail brewery were on offer ..A very enjoyable way to end our afternoon walking in the area .Great friendly young lady waiting on the tables .

Admit to being a bit unsure when we walked in - chap behind the bar wasnt the most welcoming, our allocated table was small and had bar stools and hadn't realised when we booked that it was cash only - luckily we all had cash on us for once. After that though everything took an upward turn - we'd just found a spare chair to substitute a stool when we were offered a move to a proper table and within 10 mins our Sunday lunch arrived and can only be described as superb and astoundingvalue for money (£15 each). Everything cooked to perfection, the beef was tender and, like everything else, there was plenty of it including proper gravy. Sadly none of us could manage a dessert but they looked amazing too. We will definitely be going again. The only improvement would be being able to pay by card but now we know it won't be an issue although it may be worth pointing it out to people when they book if they've not been before.

The food & service was excellent. One of the best steak & ale pies my husband had ever eaten. Lashings of gravy too. Fish delivered fresh every day & I was lucky to get the last fish & chips. Flakey white fish in a crisp batter was delicious with home made tartar sauce. 😋. Only been open a few weeks but bookings best made & at the moment its cash only. Handpull bitters & draught cider sat in the lovely beer garden went down very well too.

All the hallmarks of a classic country pub. Loved it. Silence fell in the bar when we walked in as we’re not regulars. I just love it when that happens, that delicious pause. A roaring log fire, our well behaved dog welcomed, and a darn fine pint of Tim Taylor’s Landlord. Cash only, which only added to the feeling of lost in time.

As we are staying in the area for a couple of weeks, we wanted to try out some local pubs. We went to the Massingberd Arms at the recommendation of our hosts, who said we would find a good old-fashioned Sunday lunch there, and that we should book ahead as it is popular. We were served the most magnificent roast meal. Roast pork with not one, but two different kinds of potato (mashed and roasted) and no less than 6 other vegetables, all cooked to perfection. We sat in the bar area with all locals who come here regularly, and by the time we were finished, we were all friends.

This is my favourite unspoilt local country pub for several years, there is a nice small selection of ales and beverages with guest ales. They serve wonderful locally sourced ingredient based hot foods, which are always good quality and plentiful. Very reasonable for example a very large fresh fish & chips for less than £10. A pint of beer starting at £3.Situated in a quiet small hamlet, has lots of great character and friendly landlord.A cash only pub, but helps to keep the prices low. Highly recommended.

We have just returned from Sunday lunch at the Massingberd Arms. This was one of the best Sunday lunches we have ever had. We had roast pork followed by bread and butter pudding and cherry cheesecake (both homemade). The food was excellent in every way and at £8 per head was very good value for money. The service was also excellent. We eat Sunday lunch at a different place each week and this was one of the best. To be thoroughly recommended.

A very traditional Lincolnshire country pub. Not fancy, but clean, warm and welcoming. The food is straightforward and honest and always great value. The Sunday lunch is one of the best around. At this time of the year there's a roaring woodburner, there's a lovely dining room or you are welcome to eat in the bar. In the summer there's also a garden to sit in outside. A fairly remote little pub that deserved to do well.

Plus points:Real ale, pleasant building in and out with lots of atmosphere, quirky.Kitchen staff very friendly and extremely helpful.Minus points:Fairly basic and limited mainstream menu for food. Nothing unusual or very interesting. Bar area clientele a bit cliquey and owner a little reserved and not very friendly almost giving an impression that newcomers are not as welcome as regulars. So in conclusion will visit again and may well dine and hopefully will feel more welcome.

On a cycle trip round the Lincolnshire Wolds we planned to stop for lunch at the Massingberd Arms. We're glad we did. Lunch was served between 12 and 2 (this was a Thursday and it is worth checking the provision of lunch on other days) and the menu chalked on boards was clear and provided ample choice. Two of us had fresh Grimsby caught cod with chips and mushy peas and my other friend had bangers and mash. The meal was brilliant - a large piece of fish in a tasty batter accompanied by hand made chips and mushy peas cooked to perfection. It was served quickly and piping hot on a hot plate. My friend said his bangers and mash was equally tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable to and I would say average for pub food.Whether cycling, walking or driving about I recommend a visit. We certainly plan to return asap.

I have often wanted to sit outside this cafe overlooking the beach/sea but it always seems busy without any spare tables. Today we sat at a spare table and just had a milky coffee each at around 11.00 a.m.. Firstly, the staff were friendly and efficient and the coffee which was very fairly priced was delicious compared to more expensive and pretentious “cafe latte” at other places. ( Thiscafe does offer lattes anyway!). The cafe was immaculately clean and tables were sanitised as soon as people left their tables. It helped that it was a perfect day for weather. 22 degrees with a hint of breeze. We will certainly go again especially as there were many attractive food items on offer at fair prices.

It's October half term and we were staying at Tattershall Lakes. It was so busy we couldn't get through by phone so we popped down and placed our order in person. Having seen they had a delivery to a caravan just along from us we asked if ours could be delivered at the same time (about an hour from ordering) They agreed, the food duly arrived and was delicious. Hot, big portions and even included some non-menu adjustments for our vegetarian daughters. Leftovers were eaten for breakfast before the 5 hour drive home!
