Lovely little traditional pub. We just popped in for a coffee on a very quiet afternoon, but the owners were friendly, the coffee was good, the dog was welcomed, and I'd like to visit again when it's a bit busier, and take the opportunity to try their food and their beer.

On holiday in Norham, we visited the Masons arms 4 times, 3 for drinks and once for a wonderful 3 course meal! Fist class service, all the staff were very attentive and friendly, we felt so welcomed, food was extremely tasty, very good value for money! We would highly recommend! Our spend per person was on one starter, 2 mains and 2 deserts! Toilet facilities were spotless!

This will be my go to pub every-time I’m in Northumberland from now on. Great food, super welcoming staff and owner. Accommodating too, had dogs with us and soon gave them water and lots of fuss. As well as a tiny baby - more than enough room for a pram. The kind of pub you immediately feel at home in and want to go back to time and again!

A great pub with rooms and a decent restaurant. The pub has a great atmosphere - the staff are brilliant! The rooms are great value for money - everything you need and a really decent breakfast. We had some issues at dinner - service was a bit slow, asked for a wine list and it took 15 mins and another request before it came, and we had another col of minor issues. But the waitress was young (or maybe we’re at an age when waitresses, like policemen, are all young!) and maybe just needs some training. Didn’t spoil our stay - we loved the pub and the village :)

Lovely place in a beautiful village. We had the 3 course set Sunday dinner it was delicious. Food was all 5*. I would have liked less mash and maybe 1 more than the singular roast potato with my roast beef. Sticky toffee pudding is the best!

We chose to eat here after searching for a convenient location for 3 couples from 3 different towns to meet easily. However, after eating here, I would now reccomend it as a destination restaurant. Our meal was served in the more modern and spacious extension. The food options were traditional but with slight tweaks. All diners were very happy with their food. Following dinner, we were then returned to the older and more cosy bar area where we enjoyed the rest of the evening. Service was friendly and attentive throughout. However, I am caeliac and while there were gluten free options for the main courses, the starter options were very limited and there was no option (other than ice cream) for dessert. They also did not stock a GF bottled beer. This is the only reason I have given 4/5 for food otherwise it would also be 5.

But of a hard one to write, but the only way to see improvement is with constructive criticism. We went for the Friday curry night. It is advertised as 6 to 8.30. We arrived half an hour early, we could have been sat 30 minutes earlier. But after being sat at 8pm (which we had booked weeks prior), we were felt to feel like we had just walked in 5 minutes before the kitchen was closing. The waitress's who served the table, her attitude wasn't great. We had to chase up a drinks order when sitting down. Which wouldn't have been a problem at all, but the servers poor attitude merits a mention. I'd understand if we were indeed a late sitting down, but we weren't. Lagers were flat and pipes need cleaned. Stella, carling and IPAs weren't at standard. The curries weren't great, the prawn curry was more a veg curry. One microwavable nann bread cut into 4 bits for a whole table. 1 frozen samosa, 1.5 bits of onion badji for £2.50. Chips were unbelievably good, probably the only reason this review is one star for the food rather than zero. Please rectify this, as everything else in the pub is phenomenal and previous visits have been excellent. I'd like to think this was a one off! But with almost spending nearly £60 per person I think this review was due.

By pure chance we found the Mason Arms From the moment we stepped in to the pub, the bar maid couldn’t have been more helpful. After choosing our drinks we were shown in to the lovely dining room at the rear, the menu was a great selection of pub food greats. We shared a garlic mushroom starter and glad we did. I went for the gammon with all the trimmings and my wife had the scampi, the portions were plentiful and this is why we were glad on sharing a starter. The ladies toilets have a quirky glass topped well dressed for Halloween Well worth the visit and we will be definitely going back as the food and especially the bar maid were tremendous

Nice ales and great food. The lady running the place doesn't seem to stop and is constantly rushing around making sure everything is good. Guess that's how she works but I so wanted to tell her to take 2 minutes for herself to beathe. Going from the small cosy country pub front though to the restaurant at the rear with its modern styling is like walking through time. We booked a table at the Masons Arms for our evening meal. We were staying in Norham as part of a multi-day cycling tour and were suitably ravenous. Linda was easy to deal with by email and it was not a problem for her to move our booking when I realised we were running late. We were made very welcome by the confident and competent barman, before being shown through to the restaurant extension, which was impressively light and spacious. Again, the service was excellent, as were the chips! We retired to the bar and were made to feel welcome by the locals, which is not always the case in rural pubs. Will definitely visit again if I'm in the area

This village pub is a surprise. The small and rather dark bar is a prelude to the nicely spacious and bright, modern dining room, with full-length engraved glass windows opening on to a pretty courtyard. I was surprised by how busy it was on a Monday evening. The menu was interesting and, by the looks of it, good value. A table of four of us were happy with the food without being ecstatic. The addition of a side salad or something in the way of veg. would have helped. My chicken with rice and bbq sauce did have cauliflower and broccoli mixed in, and was nice but I was surprised there was not more flavour. The desserts were great. But......there was a very long and unexplained wait for the main course. Two of us had starters so we were OK, but the other two really did begin to fade!! I guess it was a momentary blip. The other problem, for four older people, was difficulty of hearing when the restaurant got busy....a design issue. Its all hard surfaces, nothing at all in the furnishings to absorb sound. If this sounds too critical, it is because we really liked most of what we saw, and were glad to have visited....and, as relatively local residents, will definitely return.

Unobtrusive pub with amazing features and superb service, visited during our holiday nearby. On entering we thought it was just a rather small pub....confused…We walked through the bar and at the rear we found a lovey airy and well spaced restaurant which was spotless. Further on was a really nicely kept garden area which was also looked after well and felt very relaxing. We loved the decor which was very tasteful. We chose three courses of the Sunday menu. Our starters were nicely designed, very tasty and a perfect size, no complaint on size, perfect for a starter. We then chose various Sunday roasts and they appeared at the table looking very tasty and we were not disappointed. Again perfectly sized and we felt we had eaten quality food that was perfectly cooked, we were very impressed. We couldn't help it, we had to see the dessert menu and although I would like to have seen a posset on there or similar, there was ample choice for the Sunday menu so we all chose various desserts thinking we were not so sure that they would be quite to the standard of the courses we had enjoyed. They were perfect, yet again perfectly adequate and enjoyable. Yes, there could have been a little more selection as I am a dessert person but it still kept me happy. We were served by Declan who was an exceptionally good host. This is a busy place on a Sunday because a lot of people want to eat here but the service was so run very smoothly, we did not feel we waited too long or that we were rushed. It is no surprise that many visit when they serve food like this and at a refreshingly sensible price. Although he was only lending a hand today, we would certainly give a shout out to Declan who gave us the most attentive and respectful service. Refreshing these days. We are seriously considering coming back tomorrow.

We have had a super weekend with our dog at this very impressive looking hotel. We got past the debacle of room 45 above the spa, and it’s not an exaggeration to say that room was hotter than the sauna. When we were taken to the room it had a portable fan running, so if you know there is an issue why put guests in there? Consequently on the first night we got very little sleep. They did move us to another room for the remaining 2 nights which was much better. We ate in the Cloisters restaurant twice and it was superb. The pool area is lovely as is the steam room, but the jacuzzi is dated and not warm enough. Think they will be improving this soon? Staff are friendly, big shout out to Nick who was great. Can recommend this hotel but ask not to be put above the spa?
