Beautiful takeaway food, much more filling than expected so we accidentally purchased 2 meals each :D>

We placed our order on the phone and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes time, which seemed unrealistic, and it was. Once we arrived at the pub we had to wait an extra 20 minutes. We would rather have been told a more realistic time to collect in the first place so there would have been no waiting involved. 35 minutes is still a short time to wait and we wouldn’t have minded that at all. We got the dad box and really enjoyed it. The food came out of the kitchen hot and fresh. We shared it between two and still couldn’t finish it, so great value for money really. All the food was delicious, but a bit spicy so bear that in mind.

Took the wife, nephew and niece for some incredible grub. Two boxes was too much for two adults and two teenagers but I ate my fair share and finished the Dad Box with the nephew. The girls had the jerk box and was too much for them. An item missing from one box which was reported and rectified in minutes. Great food and service. The smash burgers are the best I have tasted and certainly the best locally. We will be back soon. Highly recommended

Menue unreadable print for too small and in yellow. chips with everything just covered in some Sauce. Will not come again.😬😬

Nice pub with lots of outdoor seating. However… the shouting and swearing from the clientele was audible about 5 doors down as we walked to the pub for a meal and meet up with friends. Staff don’t seem to be interested in asking people to pipe down. Families trying to enjoy a meal outside having to ask “socks and sliders” millennials to stop swearing shouldn’t be a thing. After the families had left, the only people left seemed to be the 20 year olds , who for some reason need to visit the toilets every ten minutes and come back wide-eyed and with a new zest for more swearing and rudeness. One of our party left early as he didn’t like the undercurrent vibe of the place. Won’t be back.

Food is mid, ain’t worth the hype

Partner & I came in 20 minutes after opening, not very busy. Wasn’t particularly impressed with the staff right off the bat, would rather have chatted amongst themselves or straight up ignore us. Was told 30 minutes wait for food, 50 minutes later it arrived, ordered a Munchbox - unfortunately the fries and tots were stone cold. The smash burgers were quite tasty, albeit lukewarm and the fried chicken was hot which made us wonder how long portions of our food were sat there for! Partner spotted they’d forgotten our coleslaw so let the manager know which it was given to us, the table next to us had this exact same problem with the missing coleslaw. I spotted on the menu where it said ‘add a drink for £1’ of the munchbox section - I raised this with the manager as I paid nearly £4 for a soft drink to be told ‘sorry that’s not right these aren’t our menus’ They seem to prioritise how the business looks from the outside rather than how they treat their customers and put effort in with their food. Also, our Munchbox looked nothing like the pictures that are posted on social media advertising them.

Avoid this place like the plague. Simon (dad the dish) dosent like getting bad reviews when his staff have been terrible. I did a review of his service and the owner Simon has decided to give my businesses a bad review even though he has never even used the businesses. What a Horrible Little Man avoid this place like the plague.

So I've been watching dad the dish videos for a long time and his food always looks amazing 💯 when I see they started doing the boxes here , I had to get myself down to try them out . Knowing it would be popular, I called ahead of time and spoke to a lady on the phone who took my order. she talked me through the menu of the big boxes and I chose " the mums box" . The drive took me about 30 mins to get there and it was just the right time considering I ordered ahead. I waited a couple mins while my food was being dished up. it was a nice atmosphere, air con and seemed like a really nice place. i got my food and OMG I COULDN'T WAIT TO TUCK IN!!!!!!! (I got a box to go) I found a nice spot to park up and eat and straight away you're hit with a mouthful of flavours and combinations you might not have had . The first thing I had was a parmesan tatatot and wow! from there I had the katsu chicken grilled cheese!!!!! when I say this food was next level , I genuinely mean it! it's nice to find a place that does take away that doesn't taste like everything else, boring and leaves you underwhelmed! I give massive recommendations for this place and the food! I will 100% be going back for another box. I think the Dad box this time 😅 oh I should mention I'm eating leftovers while I type this review🤣😂 it's 10:50am 😅 taste is still there and I will probably end up going back today 🤣 thankyou for filling my heart with joy and my belly with food 🫶🧡 see you guys again very soon

A little trip to Codnor. You might ask, what on earth are we going there for? We'd heard Dad the dish had took over a pub in Codnor. So we just had to go along and see what all the fuss was about. . When we arrived the car park was nearly full already. There's not that many local pubs, who can draw this ammount customers nowadays. It was a scorching hot day.Although the outside seating looked great,we headed inside. So glad we did, as it was lovely and cool with the air con blasting away. We ordered a drink and claimed our spot at a table in anticipation. Where's the menu? They are waiting for them to arrive from the printers. Patiently waiting for the menus to arrive,we could see eager diners ordering their food at the bar. Do they know something we didn't? They were ordering off the menu on-line. We quickly looked on our phone and joined the queue at the bar.Just as we had placed our order,the menus arrived.Oh well,our order was in now. . Double Smash Burger £9.90. 2patties,pickles, onions, American cheese,burger sauce & crispy onions. STICKY KORIAN Grilled Cheese £9.90. Crispy chicken tenders, sticky Korean sauce,onions, spring onions,sesame & fresh chilli. Salt n Chilli Fries £7.15. Skin on fries,crispy chicken tenders,house seasoning, chilli,onion & katsu curry sauce. Lemon & Pepper Tenders £5.50. 3x Crispy chicken tenders,lemon pepper seasoning,hot honey sauce. Anxiously waiting and seeing the first orders come out of the kitchen,the service was a bit chaotic. That's to be expected for their first day. But all good things come to those who wait. . Then the main man himself,Simon,delivered our food to the table.So we grab a quick pic with him,as you do. The food was delicious and well worth the wait. Our only disappointment,was that we didn't get to see the menu first.As we would have ordered the Dad Box at £28.99. Which was virtually what we had ordered. But with added bacon tots & coleslaw and great value. Still,it will give us an excuse to return when they are more settled.

Lovely pub, nice staff. Needs a disabled toilet facility which the new landlady has noted. Dog friendly, with a clean water bowl. We used the function room which was perfect for us. Plenty of parking . Some comfortable arm chairs made it welcoming in the lounge bar. Not busy for a Saturday night which was surprising. Will go again.

Absolutely loved the food !! All freshly cooked , and the chips are definitely not your normal frozen bag of chips , proper gastro ones ! And the service from the ladies behind the bar was lovely made us feel ever so welcome . Thank you for making our visit so nice

Lovely Sunday lunch but hardly any customers so the atmosphere was rather quiet. Perhaps a little background music would help in quiet times.

Been today excellent food, service and atmosphere where second to none. We will definitely be back!

Food took 45 minutes to come. My husbands meal arrived 1st having opted for the bigger portion how disappointing the fish was not very big the chips were greasy and the peas were dry. When my homemade pizza arrived it looked liked a disaster on a wooden board and the dough was a little undercooked. The flavour wasn't much better so nota good experience had to eat when I got home.

I only visited for a lunchtime refreshing pint of Guinness with my partner and our Border Collie. They cater well for dogs and the outside furniture is really Comfortable. Car parking available. Friendly place to visit.

They were so overwhelmed we actually wanted to go back to the kitchen and help. The food was okay but not any better than you would cook at home. If they get their act together and hire a chef it could be great.

Came for the steak night, the food was exceptional, home made chips steak cooked to perfection great value for money, only downside is I’d prefer a separate area for dogs, as not really appropriate in a restaurant other than that can’t rate this place enough

We popped in for an impromptu pint with the dog after a long walk, very accommodating even though we were all muddy from the walk including the dog, we got a warm welcome so much so we stopped for a bite to eat too, and the chip cobs were lovely

Really disappointed to be writing this review! Marquis used to have really nice food, all used to be butchers meat and top class meals but now they have been taken over the food is disgusting. Literally burger van food at more of a cost than the butchers stuff, I used to pay £9.45 for a butchers burger, fries & a drink but now the food is disgusting & double the price, it really didn’t make sense to me as this was my local and went every other day! So disappointing..

Lovely pub. Great place for food. Children and dogs welcome. Loads of choice on drinks.

Came here with my wife, mother-in-law and children. Food was lovely. Staff very welcoming. Especially the server. My son doesn’t eat any veg so she loaded him up with yorkies. Puddings looked amazing. Although I couldn’t fit one in. Full up from the carvery. Thank you. We will definitely be back

Tony and Tracy took over this lovely cosy pub not that long ago. They are absolutely brilliant ppl and the prices are good for everyone. Choice of beer spirits wines or soft drinks is good nobody will left thirsty. No food serving yet however it will start soon. Come in have a pint and enjoy your time

Popped in for Sunday lunch. Really disappointed. They didn't have any veg (other than peas). Roasties had seen better days, and the yorkie was a bit like a ready made frozen jobbie. The pork / beef, whilst tasty looked more like it belonged in a sandwich than on a Sunday plate. Could have been that were at the end of service??

Me and my wife shared a steak and cheese panini with a side order of onion rings which was cooked lovely. Washed down with a pint of Guinness in the sun was ideal. The pub outdoor seating area and especially inside was absolutely immaculate and very inviting.

Gorgeous little pub. Loved the use of old reels to make furniture. Decor is lovely. Great atmosphere. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Has a large front patio area. Menu is fairly small and while the food is nice it’s nothing you can’t get in just about any pub these days. Nothing wrong with it, just didn’t stand out to me as amazing. I mean it’s good food just usual typical items. Small kids menu. Desserts are extremely over priced so we didn’t bother with them. All in all it’s a lovley place and I’m sure we will return

Met friends and their child for a few drinks at the marquis ,first time visited pub and entered into a nice comfortable friendly pub ,staff really pleasant the toddler was being a toddler and wanted to roam and be nosey the staff very understanding and monitored it fantastically, def will visit again toddler hopefully back to being a little darling 😀

Very nice place with really good food. We were passing by the area and had to stop for dinner and this was recomended in a local pub. Great decision to go there! Would return if back in the area!

First and last time I will be eating here £12.50 for a dried up meat pie and a dozen of frozen chips. Absolutely awful, must have been the microwave operators day off,sorry Chef's. It's a shame cos the staff are nice and the place looks decent.

Food was terrible. I had fish & chips. The batter on the fish had been cooked that much I nearly broke my tooth on it.. I went back as I had heard it was under new management. Think you need to change the chef! ... Won't be going back for food.

Food quite basic and mainly 'fast' food. Would be nice to see further options other than chips, fries and stodgy fatty food. Jacket potatoes, more vegetables and more vegan choices please. Service normally good. Music distracting when trying to have a conversation as thumping 90s clubbing music which doesn't fit the venue or patrons!!

The dining area we were seated at was in the open area of the bar... it can get noisy it's a pub after all. Service was ok.

Lovely warm welcome, comfortable, clean but unfortunately a 50+ minute wait for food, absolutely shocking (the lack of staff taken into consideration at the time), God forbid there were anymore food orders taken, in what was a very quiet time. The arrival of the food deserved a "fanfair ", the quality certainly did not! Unappetising, missing items of accompaniments stated as part of the meal, and steak! tough as old boots....

Been here many times in the past, but will not be returning again so soon. Service started off great and rapidly deteriorated. Various meals ordered but all were mainly overcooked except for the cabbage. No one asked how food was, no one removed our plates although not over busy at which time we thought desserts were off the menu and proceeded to bar to pay. Make over looked good though. Since review the Manager contacted me and we discussed our visit. It was good to think they listen to their customers, so will put this down to an off day and put it back on the family meeting list. Thank you Marquis Pub and kitchen for taking the time to respond. We returned to the Marquis and thankfully their chef was back in the kitchen and food was really good. Will be returning for sure. Thank you

Had a lovely meal tonight, garlic mushrooms and steak were amazing🤤staff were very attentive, would definitely recommend!

When the old owners had it we used to come every Wednesday, after tonight's visit it will be our last, my husband and I do try our best to support local businesses but the food was a joke, I did mention this to the waitress (I was more polite) when she collected our plates but received no feedback but was not surprised as when my husband went to pay the bill he had to wait until the regulars payed even though they came to the bar after him, ignorant , alarm bells should have rang when I phoned to reserve a table and was told I didn't need to, enough said.

We booked a table for a Sunday (always recommeded) and had a lovely sunday meal, out of the three of us i had the the beef and stilton pie wich was amazing, full of meat and really filling, served with lovely fresh veg and chips (would of liked the option of mash - i'll remember that for next time), proper home made gravy. The Leak and Cheese gratin beat my sister and the we got the childs portion of the sunday roast which was more than enough for my mum who was celebrating her 80th. Fine beers on offer, Blue moon is highly recommended.

Food took an hour and 15 minutes to arrive, after being told my fiancé was diabetic and needed to eat ASAP No care was given and food was average at best when it arrived👎

Had a really nice meal, was tentative after hearing a few negative things but decided to keep the booking and see for ourselves. Food was tasty and hot, greeted and served with a smile, pub refurb really nice more spacious than it used to be (important thing now to many of us) nice upholstery, clean carpet, clean tidy bar and toilets were clean enough as well.

Absolutely fantastic experience. First time visting the Marquis this afternoon. Service was exceptional, food was delicious and hot. Highly recommend. :)

Sunday lunch for 7 adults and 1 child ....a family get together for the child's 8th birthday .... All 7 adults left nearly all their meal ....tough fatty beef,cold mashed potatoes, a parsnip that nearly broke your teeth ...and a jug of gravy that was the size of a small cream jug ! We then decided to have coffees ...waited for about half a hour for these....and before anyone asks we didn't complain so as not to upset the birthday girl ... But definitely will not be going again !!

Went for food on 7th Aug. This place has been tastilly refurbished using recycled materials and it looks exelent .I had rump steak and we all agree it was the best steak EVER.

Don't normally do negative but tonight was not good, not enough staff. table booked for 19.30 got there early but by 20.30 starter and main came at same time and starter was cold to cut it short cancelled our main course and came home early I was really polite but please sort this problem out this was my wife's birthday and very disappointed after reading good reviews be a good while before I return.

The Yorkshire pudding wraps on a Sunday are a must try. The interior looks absolutely gorgeous and the place was very clean. Staff were kind and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

Just been and had a meal. I had Gammon main which was excellent it was piping hot and really tasty, best Gammon I have had for a long time. Will def go back.

Great carvery at a reasonable price offering standard or small carvery choice with a good choice of desserts if you have room after the main. 1 standard 1 small & 2 deserts for around £22.00 No Longer Open Closed Down

What a bad night came a few month ago was great mid week. Went on a Saturday night absolutely terrible. Beans cold sent back waited over 40mins for mains. Waiting for over 25mins for dessert and they was burnt sent back. Ask to speak too a manager and got told this is the best we will get. Some time's understand if it was busy but it wasn't they put us right next to a brick post so people were pushing past us. Not a very good night

Went with a group that had reserved the places for PM meals were a long wait 1 of them waited well over an hour and a half when this food arrived the sausage was not cooked. The reason for the long wait was that they had ran out of chips .apart from us there were only two customers in the place all night until 9.30

Food came quickly and was beautifully presented. With generous portions too. The staff were very friendly but not invasive. Will definitely recommend. Can definitely recommend the Triple Chocolate Brownie!
