Lovely breakfast, quick service

Arrived just after 8pm on a Saturday night so beat the rush (cafe was quite empty as the locals here in Somerset tend to eat very early compared to London). I had a steak and sides (not enormous, but very well cooked good quality meat) and my client had a vegetarian risotto. With some soft drinks the total bill came to £44 (note: they don't automatically add a Service Charge which I appreciate - we rounded up the bill to £50 as the service was friendly, prompt and excellent). So... not the cheapest for Somerset, but given the quality of the food (client liked his risotto too) was good value. There is oodles of parking as well... Final note: I've been here for Brunch before and it was jam packed then, so recommend booking a table just in case.

Ah, the elusive “great food and great service”—I’ve heard legends of it, whispered in awe, yet after two attempts, I remain uninitiated. A modern-day food pilgrimage, but instead of a sacred meal at the end, I get a masterclass in culinary evasion tactics. Attempt no.1: I was met with mysterious kitchen staff issues and a waiting time described as “longer than usual” (which is wonderfully vague—are we talking longer than a quick snack or longer than a medieval siege?). Attempt no.2: Today. 11:25 AM. Foolishly optimistic, I entered… “Oh no, sorry, we’re (in the mystical twilight zone between) breakfast and lunch.” - Breakfast? Gone. HOW ABOUT THE “BRUNCH” you keep brsghing on about your adverts? Lunch? At least half an hour away. I half expected to be told I needed to come back at an astrologically favourable moment🤣 Now, I admire their commitment to zero food waste—it’s easy to achieve when you simply refuse to serve food at all. Ethically sourced? Locally produced? Fantastic! If only I had the chance to ethically and locally consume it. At this rate, they’re pioneering a whole new level of sustainability: why waste food when you can just waste people’s time instead? So yes, I can confidently confirm—this place truly delivers great food and great service…… (in the same way a mirage offers a refreshing drink in the desert. It looks fantastic, but you’ll never actually taste it).

Excellent - the staff are lovely and friendly, the restaurant is large and has plenty of room none of the tables are close. The atmosphere is great nice and bright and airy. The food - I have to say the breakfast was amazing all quality ingredients and served piping hot and on a beautiful hot plate. The toilet is all on one level so perfect for wheelchairs, the car park is huge and free. So to sum up 10/10 a really lovely place to visit and eat drink and enjoy the atmosphere.

I love this place, we live locally and it is great to have a lovely restaurant nearby, serving local food, which I like. The food is good, had a deliciously tasteful pie this time Service was very friendly

I went to the Maple today for a spot of Sunday lunch to put in my tum. I was greeted by a lovely man who graciously ushered me to my table where said luncheon would be entering my aforementioned tum. I decided upon the beetroot wellington and a pint of ale because, admittedly, I was feeling cheeky and a pint of ale entertains such a disposition ;) Oh em jee.. I am thankful, dear reader, that I brought a spare pair of socks as I ate because my original pair were blown clear off by the flavours existing within this dish! Wonderful presentation, harmonious flavours and excellent service to boot (beetroot wellington boot, if you will LOL). Five stars. I would highly recommend this place. If you do end up visiting bring an extra pair of socks!

ALLERGY WARNING - DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU ARE COELIAC. Wife ordered a gluten free option but has been extremely ill since eating there yesterday afternoon. Clearly not just a contamination but fed gluten. We will not be eating here again. Called to warn them of their error but no answer so left message. No call back or apology so far. If you are going to advertise gluten free options then you need to serve gluten free food. Edit - I left the voicemail on the incorrect number so The Maple did not receive the message. Thanks for following up to the review and I have shared all the information and receipt over email for them to investigate further.

Had lunch here when we visited Cleeve. Service was fantastic, looked after our dogs straight away with blankets water and s treat for each! We had burger and the steak pie, both served really quickly! Food was delicious, pie, veg and chunky chips was amazing and the burger and fries were fantastic! Can't wait to visit again soon, staff were friendly and welcoming and that adds so much to wanting to come back!

Visited this evening with friends. We live locally, but it was our first visit. I'd briefly viewed the menu before we arrived. There were only 4 other people in the restaurant tonight. We were greeted, and our drinks order taken promptly. My rose lemonade spritzer was lovely. I ordered the Maple Classic Burger, and my husband ordered the Chicken Burger - we then swapped half each, so we got to try each burger. Wowee. The beef burger was lovely, cooked perfectly, and the tomation and onion relish finished it off beautifully. The chicken burger...oh my, it was juicy and so full of flavour! Don't get me started on the scrumptious chips either!! The chocolate brownie and ice cream finished a truly wonderful meal. The staff were attentive and friendly. We will definitely be coming back again!

My partner and I were really pleased with the food. Shared mussels as a started, then got the chicken special and ox cheek. Wonderful experience from start to finish. Attentive staff, great food, served fast and tasted fresh. Would definitely recommend visiting! Only comment for the chef the ox cheek sauce was quite salty but mixed with the food it was actually fine, other than that it was delightful!

Quite pricey for what was really glorified pub food and limited choice menu

Visited for a Sunday Roast. First and foremost, the big question when it comes to Sunday lunch… The roast potatoes were good!! Despite being buried under the meat they were just as you’d wish, crispy outside, fluffy inside, so a thumbs up there 👍 Also important, every meat comes with cauliflower cheese and a Yorkshire pudding as standard (you can pay extra if you want more) and there’s no charge for extra gravy (although you will need to request it). This was a solid roast, and for the surroundings and quality of local produce the price point is fair albeit not cheap (3 courses for 2 adults, 2 course child’s meal, two alcoholic drinks and a soft drink came to £100ish). Starters - soup was a little thin but the tart had my husband raving. Desserts we were all seriously impressed, only that I was so full I’d have polished off my daughter’s cookie as well as my brownie. We’ll be back.

What a lovely place , tucked away at the side of touts. We came for breakfast and were not disappointed,really lovely food . Definitely be back to try an evening meal.

We came for my nephews birthday. They were all really lovey to us. The breakfast was so tasty! I had the pancakes!

We thought we would try The Maple steak night on the 8th October and were disappointed. My wife ordered Sirloin which was ‘alright’, I thought I would try the Rump. The Rump was so tough it was a struggle to cut even after we had asked for steak knives. The waitress could see I was having difficulty and advised me she had told the Manager.

A lovely, cosy restaurant. Quick, friendly service. We had the pork and the chicken burger and both were really good. Will be coming back.

We recently celebrated my parents' anniversary brunch at The Maple in Cleeve, Bristol, and it was a fantastic experience. Despite being delayed due to car troubles, the staff were incredibly accommodating when we called ahead, ensuring that our orders were prepared quickly once we arrived. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, and the staff were attentive and welcoming, going out of their way to make it a memorable occasion. While it’s a bit on the pricey side, the quality and service make it well worth it for a special celebration. Highly recommend!

We visited The Maple today for lunch. We booked in using the App which was very easy to use. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff and shown to a table. We ordered our food which arrived with in a small amount of time and was very fresh and hot, absolutely delicious food and very plentiful. We also had a great dessert which was also delicious. Staff were very polite and friendly and professional. All round a very good place to eat. Definitely worth a visit.

Went today for Sunday lunch, partners 60th birthday. Amazing food and service. Took our small dog and she had a sheepskin to lie on and treats, staff are friendly and nothing is to much trouble. an excellent day, highly recommend a visit.

We went to Maples for a family trip out & it was fantastic. Great menu, good variety and fresh fish (Hake) was expertly cooked. I’d say quality is best in the area (& surrounding). Service was also excellent, very attentive, polite and accommodating for Kids. I can’t really see how they improve!

Cheerful service and top notch coffee at The Maple. Cakes are mostly good, but there have been a couple that weren't brilliant. It's a comfortable space to socialise with friends.

Fabulous service, amazing food. I had the chicken burger as it was on special and it was the nicest chicken burger I’ve ever tasted. Even made it in a gluten free bun for me and with normal mayo instead of paprika mayo! Very accommodating to my requests!!

They took us on a last minute booking for a large group with no issues, in itself a compliment. Food was great, presentation top notch and the service was excellent! Molly was lovely and everything worked brilliantly. Highly recommend and they where super dog friendly which helped us out a bunch. I look forward to coming back soon!

Husband and I visited for Sunday lunch. We had booked a table so when we arrived, we were taken to it straight away. Restaurant is nicely done. Airy and modern with an open style kitchen. Jug of water and ice brought over by the waitress without even asking, along with the menus. Nice touch I feel as all so often you have to ask for water. Ordered drinks (wine for me, pint for hubby), and when they were brought over we were ready and ordered our food. I opted for the roast chicken and hubby ordered the roast trio (beef, chicken and pork). Didn’t wait very long at all for food to arrive. It was all piping hot and looked great. Separate cauliflower cheese in its own dish then arrived. Overall opinion of the food is mostly good. Highlights would be the gravy, Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese. I had a generous amount of chicken, however the skin wasn’t crispy so I wasn’t able to eat it and that itself, in my opinion was over seasoned with pepper. This might be good for pepper lovers, however I am quite sensitive to it and don’t enjoy it in large amounts. Hubby’s trio was quite a small portion of the 3 meats (especially for the price), and no crackling as stated on the menu. Veg was nice, although not a lot of it. Parsnip was very large and could have done with a bit more cooking, as quite hard in the middle. Roast potatoes were quite disappointing as they weren’t crispy, more chewy in texture like they had been reheated, and only 2 were served per plate. We asked for extra gravy as we love our roast swimming in it and it was tasty. Hubby also asked for an extra roast potato and they provided a few in a bowl. We were not charged for any of these extras, even though we suspected we might. When plates were being cleared, I asked about the lack of crackling on the trio and the waiter apologised and offered to bring a little bowl over, which he did. Service was good throughout and food not bad, just a few tweaks would make it great.

Food awful. When i complained manager rolled her eyes. I would never go back again. Cake tasted awful as left out on side with no cover. Waste of money.

We stopped off here on the off chance there was a table for us for a late lunch, myself, hubby and my 2 youngest boys. The staff were friendly and extremely accommodating, our food was delicious. There were plenty of typical, child friendly options for my fussy 5 year old and a good selection for us adults as well. Would definitely recommend.

Mother's Day family meal. Trio of roasts and the classic burger were followed by a fun and indulgent chocolate fondue. Both the mains/desserts were delicious, well presented. My son's food allergy was handled perfectly. The service was attentive but not overbearing. Clean and inviting interior, friendly and high energy team. Thank you and well done! I will happily recommend The Maple and we will return for sure!

What a fantastic place! From walk in to paying your bill - it is one memorable experience. Great atmosphere, gorgeous interior and food-wow-now that is the masterpiece that they have to offer. Menu is constantly changing to match seasons so don't feel like you are stuck with the same "forever". Also, as veggie person I felt so very much loved and looked after - their options were so fab! Thank you for being so wonderful! Can't wait to come back.

I posted a previous review about breakfast which was not great after so many really good meals. We have been back since and it was decent again. However……………… We brought some friends for dinner after having some lunches that were great. Brisket doughnut was very dry and basically tasted like some dry meat in hot bread. 3 of us had Rib eye, 2 were very thick and seemed more like a cheap piece of rump, the 3rd one which was a rib eye was very thin and weighed no more than about 6oz. All of the steaks were heavily overcooked and the larger 2 were tough and even difficult to cut with a steak knife. Triple cooked chips were soft and undercooked. We booked for 7.30pm. They had run out of mussels & pork belly when we ordered the main courses. We were given £13 discount for the poor quality, but still ended up spending £160 for 4 people for a 2 course meal which one only had one course. I cannot see how it can go from a fantastic lunch on the same menu, to be so poor on an evening. Such a shame for a place with so much potential

Sunday lunch Rock hard vegetables. When I said I couldn't cut the parsnip I was offered a steak knife. Even struggled with this. Asked for the beef not to be served rare. It was pink when served. Very disappointing Sunday lunch. Won't be returning or recommending.

Went for Wednesday Steak Night. Delicious and perfectly cooked steak. Really tasty chips and a pint. Not the cheapest but all locally sourced and well cooked and presented. Friendly service and nice atmosphere too. Highly recommended.

A lovely evening spent at the Maple, our first time. Easy to find and parking close. The food was nice, table service was good, background music was a little loud and not alot of choice on the menu but saying that they was something for everyone including meat free dishes.

Was so disappointed. Had breakfast yesterday morning just as it opened. Freshly squeezed orange juice was most definitely not freshly squeezed and was something from a shop. Daughter had pancakes, they tasted like they had been reheated, hard throughout and crunchy on the edges which was strange. My husband and I had english breakfasts, the sourdough toast was again so hard like it had been toasted then reheated. The mushrooms were like something from a cheap jar. My egg was over cooked and the sausage didn’t taste of great quality. On a positive the bacon was nice and my daughter and something to colour on once we asked for the crayons. We weren’t checked on once we had our food and left to it in the corner which was a shame as there was only about 8 people in there. We ended up going up, paying and leaving. Wouldn’t go back, quality of food was not great especially for the cost and it was not cooked well either. Very disappointed.

What an absolute gem. I visited here with my mum and we were blown away by everything. The atmosphere is lovely, the service is impeccable and the food itself is just perfection. I would highly recommend coming to the maple, the team will go above and beyond for you whilst giving you your space. I'll be heading back on my next visit to Somerset! Thank you all.

Very nice restaurant. Food was excellent the only thing was the burger was a bit dry. If you have the olives for a appetiser beware of the half of loaf that you get . Excellent place will go again.

Not sure about the menu change. Expensive for what you get. £11 for 2 bits of charred muffin with some browning avocado on it? The person eating it would have fared better with a steak knife. Pancakes were burnt and the banana on the French toast was also burnt - not caramelised. Not sure if the chef was having a bad day but I didn't come out of there thinking it was £50 well spent. Value for money is pretty poor to be honest. I’m quite local and thought it would be cheaper than going into central Bristol for brunch but next time I’ll just do that.

What a beautiful meal I have just had at The Maple. Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff, extremely welcoming. Head chef Gary, you create sublime deliciousness! Honestly I think this is the best food I have had for a very long time, I have not enjoyed a meal so much for years! A particular mention as well to Emma, restaurant manager who should be very proud of the restaurant she manages so well also to Maisie our waitress who was attentive, charming and knew the menu inside out. A fantastic experience and highly recommend. I will be back!

Absolutely fantastic meal! Great friendly service by the whole team. The food was sensational! Smoked short ribs were showstoppers. I can recommend this place enough. It was our first visit but will certainly be back very soon and also will be recommending to friends and family. As a recommendation it would be nice to have an additional cheese on ploughman’s, maybe a stilton. Was great to speak to the chef directly about the food preparation! Such a great time at the Maple!!! 10/10!!!

New menu is a massive letdown. There are some things you just don’t mess with. Heinz beans changed for curried beans, fancy mushrooms which were hardly cooked, bacon very thick and under cooked. Massive slab of bread that was only toasted on one side and hash brown changed to crushed boiled potatoes. My wife had scrambled eggs, which were lovely, but sat on a burnt piece of toast. Prices have also gone up from £12.50 to £14 for a full English. We usually go at least twice a month, but not sure if we’ll go back. Why change something that has worked very wel?

Very disappointing roast dinner. Was advised by the waitress that the pork and the beef were a bit fatty.....the beef was 70% fat and 30% meat. They really should not have served such a substandard product. The saving grace was that the vegetables etc were good. The "apple crumble" was also a disappointment. The over spiced apple puree was topped with a tiny amount of custard and crumble topping - it looked like something a child would make. Sorry. What a shame.

Refreshingly good food and reasonable price. Service was good until the end where we were forgotten about a little bit while waiting to place a dessert order.

The first time we ate here the food & service was amazing. We called in for a Sunday roast today and wish we hadn't bothered ! We were shown to a table next to the kitchen and given a menu. No member of staff approached us again for around 15 minutes. She asked for food order and we ordered drinks as we hadn't been offered any by this point. The menu seemed surprisingly small,with no vegetarian roast option (as before) Intfact hardly anything vegetarian on the menu! When we asked we were told they don't do a vegetarian option but would do a nut roast. I wondered why they had nut roast if they didn't do a vegetarian option but my husband went with it & I ordered the (medium rare,stated on the menu)beef. After another 15 minutes, still no drinks arrived.I asked a member of staff about our drinks & eventual they arrived after around another 10 minutes. The restaurant was not overly busy so i didn't understand the wait. In this time we witnessed loud banter at the food pass between the serving staff and the kitchen staff, at one point the kitchen staff were 'play' fighting with each other! The meals were OK, but not to the same standard as the first time we ate there. The beef was very rare and fatty, the veg was undercooked and the cauliflower cheese was dry. The food could have also been warmer. We were very surprised indeed to see puffed pork put directly onto the worktop off the pass (not on a tray) before being plated! The waiting staff touch this surface and food was placed there before plating! Had we have seen this before our food had arrived we would have left! We have eaten here on a few occasions and it seems to have gone down hill each time. Safe to say we will not be returning. Such a shame as we highly recommend this place when it first opened. Save your money, for nearly £50 I expect more!!

Lily and her team were fantastic and even got my wife a card and pudding for her birthday. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic meal. I would highly recommend and will happily be going back in the future!

Nice decor and atmosphere, friendly staff. Ploughman’s was slightly unusual but one of the best I’ve had with really tasty bread, cold cuts and cheeses. Look forwarding to coming back!

Good service and nice decor but the food was overpriced and some elements poorly done. E.g braised red cabbage was overly sweet and gloopy.

Have been several times now and have been extremely happy however just went for breakfast and told straight not taking any walk ins after just sitting people in front of us! I appreciate they may not have tables but perhaps they should be trained in customer service and manners!

I found the Sunday lunch poor the veg was under cooked couldn’t cut it the meat was more raw then rare not very hot. We were sat by the kitchen all serving staff were putting food on the plates with their hands no gloves or utensils used not to our standard I am afraid overall a poor experience for us and my elderly mum

We booked having spotted a £10 burger night deal online, but when we arrived it was £15 for a burger and a drink (the price must have changed within the last 2 months). Now if you're choosing wine or a pint then £15 is alright but bear in mind that you only get a basic burger with lettuce and tomato. If you want to add anything else then it's £2 each or 3 for £5. I ordered cheese, chorizo and onion rings, and got one slice of cheese, one slice of chorizo and 3 small, soggy (clearly budget frozen) onion rings which did not equate to a £20 meal in my opinion. My partner ordered the £17 Maple burger off the standard (not burger night) menu and got far more for his money (pictured is his food as I forgot to get one of mine) Overall the food was pleasant enough; the chips in particular were lovely and crispy and seasoned well. Service was fine, although a little slow as it was busy but that's to be expected on a weekend. We'd definitely go back sometime, but we'd get food off the standard menu as the burger night felt like a bit of a con.

We visited on Sunday lunchtime to enjoy a celebration meal. Unfortunately we waited for over 50minutes. After such along wait we approached the staff and explained that we had waited this amount of time and watched 4 other groups of customers come and go! At no time did any member of staff approach to ask if everything was OK whilst we waited. Poor customer service and once the problem was highlighted to the staff member,we were told our ticket order must of been lost. No manager came to offer an apology or ask to rectify the problem.

Burger Friday is great! Lovely Burger and smiley team.

Excellent food and great atmosphere!

Excellent service from all staff, all very efficient and attentive. Lovely atmosphere with plenty of seating indoors and out. Very clean and comfortable. We just stopped for a coffee and was very pleased. We will definitely revisit (maybe even ty steak night) free parking, disabled access and customer toilets available.

Lovely meals in a very relaxed atmosphere with friendly and attentive service. Amazing service, food was very hot and beautifully plated and presented. Local produce is championed on the menu, which is small but balanced with a lovely choice of dishes. Importantly for us, my wife being a Coeliac, that they understand and can cater for Gluten free and understanding of safety in preparation to avoid cross contamination. A wonderful meal and nice to have another relatively local option. Well done to all the team at the Maple ♥️

Really like to say the quality of the food was second to non best I've had in a long time I had the trio Sunday roast my god 👌👌👌 hats off to the chef for top quality and the staff very helpful and polite will be coming bk.

Went Friday night food excellent had the 3 small plates between 2 of us plenty of food duck buns excellent truffle chips to die for. Service excellent the young lady very helpful definitely be back thank you for a lovely evening xx

The food was good however the service needs to improve only three people in restaurant took ages to take dessert order and then forgot coffee . Had to go to till to pay as staff at least four too busy chatting at bar to each other so ingnoiring customers . Charged for coffee not received asked for bill given a total as without asking breakdown put in the bin . Refund given but really not good customer service . Second time visiting and first time waiting a long time and three customers who came in after us served but at least the server made amends . Service needs to improve no excuse when restaurant not busy disappointing
