The Longlands Inn Restaurant in South Lakeland

6 of us visited and ate off the new autumn menu! Delicious! Staff were very friendly. All our meals were well cooked and presented. We will return and will recommend to others! Thank you!

Visited this afternoon for Sunday lunch with my family. The carved beef, was 80% fat. Unedible. Spoilt the meal. When I mentioned this, to the waiter they just walked on saying ok. Nice enviroment but sadly as a local patron, I will not be returning.

Stayed in 2 bed cottage with friends . Cottage spotlessly clean and decorated really lovely and to a high standard . 2 bathrooms which was great . Everything you needed in kitchen . Particularly liked the nicer than average wine glasses and furnishings in the cottage which made it feel a notch above other places . Car parking right outside cottage . I have taken off one star as it would’ve been best with one room a twin which going off the photos I thought it would be . You have to request if you want a twin as they only have a couple of cottages with twin . They did see if we could change but was booked out . It didn’t matter really for us . Restaurant lovely too ate on sat night , service great and staff friendly . Have stayed on lodge sites just near to here but I would return here instead next time rather than a lodge site . Unless you want hot tubs / pool etc which these don’t have . Def recommend.

Fabulous service great food and wonderful staff could not fault the food. Highly recommend we stopped off earlier in the day for coffeee after a long walk and luckily had already booked a table for that evening

From the moment we arrived.. & throughout our stay ..the staff were friendly & very helpful. Our room .. although a little on the small side , had everything we needed for an overnight stay. The ‘ doggie pack’ was a very thoughtful addition .. bed, towel, bowls, treats 🐕. Dogs are allowed almost everywhere in this delightful hotel & restaurant! There are excellent canal side walks right next door too. Evening meal was delicious.. although the service was a little slow..to be fair the restaurant was very busy! The bed was very comfortable . Breakfast was amazing .. so much choice! A great value for money stay … would certainly recommend it .

Second visit in 5 years. First time the food was reasonable but uninspiring, prices were high and we left intending never to go back. The second time was purely out of necessity, there being nowhere else still serving food. There was a big difference. The food was good, imaginative, well prepared and well served. The previous time was around Christmas, the second time midweek in August. Will be going again. Possible jthe chef has changed. Not much to work on statistically but definitely recommend if you go midweek in the middle of the year.

Great find with fab wheelchair access & large disabled toilet for my daughter who has powered wheelchair. Food was fabulous & great menu. Everything we ate was brilliant & the best onion rings ever tasted. Staff were friendly & definitely worth a visit

We visited Longlands yesterday en route to The Play Barn. On entering I noticed it had had a refurb which was impressive. We hadn’t booked but there were plenty of tables that looked available. We waited by the door for a few minutes and despite eye contact being made with a waitress a number of times she didn’t greet us. Eventually a chap with a checked shirt and a bit of a beard greeted us and without checking told us they were fully booked for 2 hours soo we took all 3 kids back out in the rain to the car, despite half the tables being empty. In the car, my wife had the idea to see if there was an online booking system as we really didn’t think it was fully booked. We checked this and we were able to make a booking for the next 10 minutes for our tables of 5. In fact there were tables available every 15 minutes for the rest of the day. I booked the table and we went back inside. A waitress greeted us and seated us at a table for 6. At this point we felt quite pleased with ourselves and looked forward to rubbing it in with beardy man. We ordered the lunch meal deal which was 2 pizzas, a side and half a bottle of wine for £25 which was great value. Pepperoni wasn’t available which was disappointing as my fussy eldest only eats that type pizza. Not entirely sure how a restaurant can run out of this, but never mind, as the pizzas we had were great. The wine was also surprisingly good and on the whole the experience and service was great, accompanied by a slice of chocolate cake with a candle and a rendition of happy birthday by the waiting staff for my birthday which wasn’t embarrassing at all. This would’ve got 5 stars had it not been for beardy man not really being bothered to do his job and check availability before sending us incorrectly away. I hope the owners offer him the training he clearly needs so that they can go some way to recoup to the costs of the £450k refurb. Would recommend.

A Saturday evening meal with 6 of our friends. A beautiful place to spend the evening with friends and the food was delicious. The service was superb and very efficient when ordering food and drinks. Good choice of food . The only point to make is the 10% service charge (that is optional but you have to ask them to remove it).

A great family evening meal set in a nice busy venue with a good atmosphere. Menu had a great choice depending on your dietary requirements. The lamb on the main course was a personal favourite. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. If you are in the local area the Longlands restaurant is definitely worth a visit with good value for money.

There is nothing here to dislike. We visited a few times during our week stay in Twin Lakes, as its only a 7 minute walk. The Inn itself is superbly laid out, well decorated and the lighting is spot on, comfy seats, lovely bar area with a great atmosphere. Backed up with an great selection of beers, wines and gins, along with the Ronnie and Bella Reward Card scheme. Double reward points during the 6 nations too. The food menu has something for everyone and is very reasonably priced, we opted for the pizza deal, (2 pizza's, 1 side and half carafe of wine) and excellent value for £25. Staff are welcoming, friendly, helpful and deliver a first class service. At no time did we feel we were being rushed, we never felt the wanted us to leave and when we did, they were really friendly and genuine and we left feeling extremely valved. See you again in April.

Had a Sunday roast here, I had the beef which was delicious best in a long time. Unfortunately my husband can't eat red meat and only beef or lamb on the menu, he would have loved a chicken roast. He did have the pork & leek sausage and mash and enjoyed. The service was perfect, felt very welcome and pampered. I didn't like the way the menu didn't have individual prices, just £26 for 2 courses insinuating it's the only option. We didn't want 2 courses and paid £18 per meal and a staggering £7.85 for a glass of red! I do object to the 10% service charge automatically added to the bill, I actually would have given more but as it was already added I didn't. I would always tip but at my own discretion. I read online we could ask for it to be taken off but shouldn't be put in that position, a pet hate of ours! Not sure if we will return.

Excellent breakfast - good variety and choices - very comfortable surroundings served by welcoming and attentive staff.

I met a group of friends for lunch in December. They had put our party in the glassed area for our sole use which was lovely. The table was adorned with crackers and candles and looked pretty. We had a leisurely afternoon and the service, food, and atmosphere were perfect. Thank you Longlands, I will definitely recommend you and be back soon.

the place is really nice but you have to be about 6ft to be able to sit on stools and some chairs as I'm smaller than this it was a bit of a problem as my partner had to lift me up and not many normal tables and chairs were there

This is our forth stay in the cottages so it speaks for itself - it is one of our favourite places to visit with our dogs . The cottages are immaculate and well thought out they are well equipped for a self catering stay . The site is peaceful on the marina with some lovely walks . The inn is beautifully decorated and serves excellent meals with free coffee and tea throughout the day for people staying at the inn or cottages . The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble . We will be back .

From going in to coming out our family of six were made to feel valued customers. Had breakfast on New Years Day and what a treat it was. The dinning area and bar had the most beautiful tasteful Christmas decorations and the whole areas were spotless . The waitress was so attentive and wasn’t phased by six different breakfast orders along with drinks and extras . All food was cooked to perfection with good quality ingredients . Highly recommend this place for quality food, attentive staff and very reasonable prices . Will be visiting again with a view to booking a night in the hotel. Thank you for a brilliant start to the new year.

My husband and I took an elderly friend for lunch at the Longlands and we're not disappointed. We all chose from the festive menu and all opted for the roast turkey with all the trimmings. Everything was hot, cooked well and tasted delicious. For dessert two of us had the Christmas pudding with brandy sauce and one had the posset topped with granola. We had coffee to finish served with a mini mince pie. Again, it was all good. All in all very good food, served well in pleasant surroundings. Will definitely be returning.

Great food. Good service, we were tired and hungry even we found this place and the food hot the spot. Fish goujon sandwich and bacon cheese burger were good. Having been in the area for a few days now the prices of food were quite steep compared to other places with the she quality.

What an utterly wonderful night we had. Table of eight booked for ladies Christmas get together. We booked the large table in the new glass room and from the moment we arrived we were treated so warmly by eloquent engaging staff. The food was of superb quality and the ambiance in the restaurant was just lovely. Thank you for your hospitality we would definitely recommend the food and service here.

I booked this a while back and mentioned I was vegan. Looking at the menu it looked promising for a birthday treat. In the past I have enjoyed food here but not been for ages. Sadly, if your vegan its like stepping back in time. To be fair on the menu it did not have ve next to pizza. I thought that pizza bases were vegan given the basic recipe. I have to say the waitress was well informed she said the bases were not suitable when I asked if I could have garlic bread with oil. That makes me think they are bought in not home cooked or dishes could possibly be adapted? Pizzas are not congruous with the pub decor and setting. However, thought we would try them but not to be for a vegan. Tried asking if the soup was suitable - no it wasn't but to be fair it did not say ve. My veggie husband tried the soup. I was trying to avoid two dishes that had ve next to them as both were curry types which so many places are doing would be nice to have something other than curry. Perhaps a vegan (not curried) pie with veg? Good pub grub adapted to a variety of dietary requirements? In the end went for houmous and bread as that is a safe bet. Well usually! It was basically sliced bread with a tiny pot of houmous tiny pot of olives and nothing else. I asked for some olive oil as the slices of dry bread that had clearly been left around in the hot kitchen, would be hard to eat without. I had expected some artisian flat bread with the meal to match the setting not a sliced loaf. For me this place doesn't have an identity like it did. Good honest home cooked food would match the setting than the disparate menu, some Italian, Indian food mixed with pub food. Even paying not easy we were wandering round trying to get someones attention. It feels the place lacks identity and focus.Pity as a country pub it was lovely. I hate giving a bad review but the disappointment waranted this review. Please try to go back to what you did well in the past good country food that caters for all!

During our short stay in the area we visited Longlands for dinner on two occasions. The food was excellent and team made us feel welcome too. The pub has recently been refurbished and the decor is fantastic. We also managed a wee five o’clock somewhere pint after a long dog walk, the pup is very dog friendly.
