The Longhouse in Sevenoaks

We haven't ordered from Longhouse for a while. It has been good in the past and I was really looking forward to our take-away. We were very disappointed with our food, it was very poor. We ordered salt and pepper paneer, which was so hard it was difficult to cut and needed a lot of chewing to swallow. The rendang tofu and king prawn with garlic, basil and chilli were both very poor quality. The egg fried rice was so unpleasant that we hardly ate any of it. There was very little egg, I saw one piece, and the dish had no flavour. Such a shame. We won't be ordering from them again.

Been eating here for years. Sadly like a lot of places the prices have gone up, portion sizes down. Last weekend delivery took nearly 90 mins. I called multiple times with nobody answering the phone so left wondering if they were even open. 7th time, finally got through and little apology about the delay. Shame

Brilliant food , brilliant staff and free parking outside . the atmosphere is great and the seating is comfortable they go the extra mile .

Went for t'away crispy duck. Dreadful. Duck was old, dry and diced (because it was so dry it wouldn't have shredded). Cucumber & onion not fresh. Pancakes usual poly-bag microwave stuff. Guy on reception too busy watching his phone and totally indifferent to actual customers. Staff appeared nervous, intimidated. Horrible atmosphere, abysmal food. AVOID.

Disappointing takeaway food. The chicken with cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce was sickly sweet, the chicken curry was rather sweet but not inedible. Sad because we have eaten food either in house and takeaway before and it has always been reasonable.

This used to be a very nice restaurant to dine in but maybe not so good now. Probably best to just have the takeaway option as the food is still very good. We opted to go out for a quick mid week meal only to have drilling works going on within the restaurant which we weren’t made aware of when shown to our table. The guy doing the work dropped all his tools on the floor in the middle of the restaurant whilst we were eating as they fell through the middle of a cardboard box he was carrying them in sending them flying in all directions under the table. We then had to sit through two arguments with customers over telephone orders relating to overcharging and refunds. The guy who was put in charge to manage clearly didn’t have a clue what he was doing. The ambience and detail to service is sadly lacking here now. The last time we came there was no attention to small things like cleaning the table between courses. This time it was slightly chaotic. No restful relaxing meal. We ate our meal and left promptly.

A busy restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. The service was great, nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing. A wide selection of dishes on the menu cooked to perfection and the portion size was large. Overall a great experience, we will definitely be back!

We have ordered from here twice. On both occasions the delivery was quick, the food hot and delicious! The excellent menu is very varied, Indian, Chinese, Malaysian etc. Definitely recommended.

I think the presentation of all the food and drinks were spot on. Service was very good by staff. The only issue was the actual food itself. The food was dry and unfortunately not as edible as I thought it would be.

I am a lone traveller who enjoys trying out new things. Spotted the longhouse on a walk back to the train station and decided on a quick lunch prior to my train. Wow! Food was fab, service was lovely, my waitress Holly was knowledgeable about the whole menu, it’s clear she’d been here a while. Food is great I just wish more people knew it was here!!

Me and my partner came and ate there and were very impressed with the food and service. We ate the crispy shredded chili beef and the chicken rendang curry and would highly recommend them. Will definitely be going back again.

I go often and the food is always perfect, my go to food is the salt and pepper chicken as well as the crispy duck. Would definitely reccomend coming with family or friends.

Decided to come to Longhouse for a quick meal with my sister, she has a severe nut allergy to was slightly nervous of the menu. We were greeted with friendly smiles and were seated quickly in a very busy restaurant. Our waitress Holly was so kind and friendly and really put my sister as ease when explaining the menu. She went through every nut-free dish in detail with us, and even made sure she brought it out herself. The food was delicious, but the service made our visit. Holly is an asset to this establishment!!!

5 stars is not enough for this place. My wife and I regularly order Deliveroo but decided a meal out would be nice as we’ve been wary of COVID for a while. We were stunned. Greeted with two beaming smiles we were seated quickly in a very busy restaurant. I had been to pick up a takeaway but prior to the pandemic and since then the restaurant has had an obvious re-vamp and was looking classy and sophisticated. For a Friday night it was expectedly busy but drinks were served quickly. We asked for some help on menu items and were explained the whole menu, the waitress clearly knew her stuff! Service was impeccable. To dine in an environment where the atmosphere is so welcoming you don’t want to leave is a rarity nowadays. The ladies working interacted with us and each other in a way that gave the restaurant a family feel. Food was also delicious, sizzling duck and Malaysian fried flat noodles were our highlight. Price is slightly at the higher end but very reasonable and worth every penny. Top honour must go to the staff, some of the best waitressing I have seen in my life, we have never felt so welcome and have already booked to come again next month with some friends.

Extensive and varied menu. Generous portions and very reasonably priced. Spoiled by the presence of a very noisy little boy (son of the owner???) constantly shouting and screeching as he played by the bar, Very annoying. Annually we celebrate Christmas at the Longhouse. Good food, good atmosphere, great service and even better decorations! Couldn’t ask for a better way to end our year. Next we’ll test the takeaway service.

Always order a takeaway, especially over lockdown, but went in for a sit down meal today and was not disappointed. Friendly waiting staff who know what their doing. Would definitely recommend to anyone who asked.

After a long wait my partner and I decided we’d celebrate the easing of lockdown restrictions by having a meal out. Decided to try somewhere new as we’ve recently moved to Chipstead from London. The Longhouse was widely recommended to us. We were greeted quickly and seated immediately. It was obviously a busy Saturday night but the waitresses went above and beyond to make sure our experience was personal and enjoyable. The food was excellent, Chinese beers throughly enjoyed by my husband. The atmosphere was lively and friendly. We will definitely be returning soon and are eager to try out the takeaway and delivery service offered by the restaurant.

I am so disappointed with the decline in this restaurant. After using them for many years, the service and management is sadly very poor. Recently due to lockdown, we have ordered several takeaways and they have got the order wrong every time, but each time have taken no responsibility for their mistakes. We’ve wasted too much money to ever return.

Ordered from the Longhouse on what was clearly a very busy night, we expected some delay but checked the deliveroo app to see our food had been delivered half an hour ago when it clearly had not arrived! Rang up the restaurant and was talked through what to do by one of the girls, was promptly sorted out and had a nice apology from the restaurant despite it being no fault of their own. Since then we have been coming into the restaurant to order for collection which hasn’t failed us so far, in fact provided a much more enjoyable experience than ordering through deliveroo. Much cheaper and better food quality, would definitely recommend over the delivery service.

Came in alone after a long work day, restaurant was empty as it was reasonably late but staff were attentive and helpful. Service was efficient but I didn’t feel rushed. Food top was top notch, will be visiting regularly and trying much recommended takeaway service!

Food was below average. Wait for food was even further below that. Called in an order for takeout, was told to collect in an hour. I arrived to collect, and they made me wait an additional 20 minutes. Also put of hand sanitizer at the front door, and not able to practise social distancing when paying at the front desk. Won’t be back. Ever.

This used to be the best locally but twice now in the last few months its really gone down hill...unsure why. Food arrived cold, rubbish portion sizes, filled out with onion rather than meat. Just cheap and nasty. Sorry guys. You really need to reevaluate your business...was not a good experience at all.

Had plenty of take aways before from here but we will not be ordering again.Ordered via deliveroo was missing an item - a main part of the meal. Rang longhouse and the lady said to go down and they could give us the missing item but when my husband got down there the guy in there was so rude and adamant it wasn't there fault but deliveroos and would not give us the missing dish and then it was denied by himself and the lady that she even said go down.If the fault was deliveroos the reason for not using this restaurant again is the disgusting customer service an apology would of sufficed. Not the way to treat customers even when I said we wouldn't return all she said was OK!! Shame on you happy to take customers money

Visited the Longhouse with my partner for a birthday meal. As a Malaysian I was really looking forward to trying their Malaysian dishes. Unfortunately I can say the food we ordered was definitely not authentic. Roti canai was flat as a chapatti, very similar to the type you’d buy in the freezer section from a supermarket and came with a chip shop style curry sauce. Chicken satay was tough, I’ve had better from Chinese takeaways. It wasn’t served with the usual accompaniments of cucumber etc either, I expected better from a so called Malaysian restaurant. I suspect the Kway Teow was made with pad thai noodles instead of proper Kway Teow, very thin and undercooked. Tofu rendang on the other hand was totally overcooked and tough, and again tasted more like chip shop curry than actual rendang. On a more positive note the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Their soft shell crab was spectacular, so there’s definitely some good food here, but I wouldn’t agree with it being billed as a Malaysian establishment.

Have always had good food from the Longhouse whether it’s eat in or takeaway and last nights takeaway still lived up to our expectations. Tasty, well cooked, not greasy or dry, very nice.

Ordered a Takeaway last Saturday, mixed starter all dry and over cooked, fried rolls, very greasy, crispy duck, very dry and not crispy, used to love this place, but last 2 take ways very poor. Have they changed chef/owners?.

Went here with my partner last year and didnt rate it at all, went again last week not expecting much so ordered Chinese chicken curry & some flavoured rice which i thought they couldn't mess up. Should have known better it was just tasteless stodge. Since moving into the area in October last year i have come to the conclusion there are NO decent restaurants in Sevenoaks, How they have the nerve to charge what they do is beyond me.

My family and I ordered a takeaway from The Longhouse on 26/04/2020. Here is a breakdown of our order and our thoughts on what each dish was like.- 1/4 duck with pancakes. (Tasty, crispy duck. I expected this to be good, as it would be more difficult to mess it up than to cook it properly.)-Sambal spicy chicken, (This sounded palatable by the description, but Oh. My. God. I genuinely don’t think I’ve tasted anything so disgusting in my life. When opening the takeaway container, I was met with a stench that I can only compare to rotting flesh and old dog food. The chicken in the sauce was rubbery and elastic like in consistency. Silly me, I decided to taste it. All I can say is, INSTANT REGRET. It would’ve been more enjoyable to chew sweaty socks from a marathon runner.- Pad Thai. (Firstly.. the colour of it. It was ORANGE. No sweetness to the pad Thai, no peanuts and not served with lime. It basically tasted like someone had just poured the sauce of a spaghetti hoops tin over some flat rice noodles. - Mixed Hors D’oeuvres. (Clearly all frozen and re-heated. Nothing tasted fresh. The pork ribs were so dry and they looked like my grandfathers knee replacement.- Singapore vermicelli. (Seriously.. how hard can it be? The noodles were completely COLD and El-Dente.)Now, some of you may look at this and think I am being difficult and moaning.. but genuinely, I always love to leave great reviews. I have never had a takeaway so bad in my life.Please, save yourself and do not order takeaway from The Longhouse.

Adaptable and resilient, huge respect to the community’s favourite fusion restaurant for keeping going with takeout service during the Covid-19 crisis. Fabulous food as always guys - thank you.

Had an hour to kill before my train home so had a wonder down to originally grab some bits and bobs from Londis but decided to visit here instead. Restaurant was empty as expected at 1pm on a Wednesday but the man I assume was the owner was open and friendly and we shared a very interesting conversation. Salt and pepper chicken to start with was a dream followed by sizzling beef and a prawn chow mein for main. Food was swift but not rushed, prawns were cooked to perfection and the presentation of the beef was fantastic. Is a great shame I live in Brighton as I would enjoy to visit again. Definitely shall be back next time in town.

Very busy night, though still lovely service from waitresses however, they seemed extremely stressed out and the manager provided them with little assistance and was watching videos on his phone!! Food was delicious, and would definitely recommend a takeaway or deliveroo (on a quiet weekday).

We went out to celebrate my daughters recent engagement, we live locally but have never tried the Longhouse before. It was a quiet weekday but service was timed perfectly. Food was not rushed and drinks were regularly refilled. Excellent value for money with the set menu as a highlight. Takeaways and what we assume are delivery’s we’re at a constant stream throughout the night, would be interesting to see how busy it gets at a weekend. Overall a lovely evening will be returning soon.

Great food. Fast service. No complaints. Would reccomend. I had the satay king prawns and they were cooked very well. Not overcooked as in most places these days. Wife happy also.

Visited here recently-We really enjoyed the food and ambience. There was plenty of variety to choose from on the menu and prices were very reasonable.

First visit in a couple of years, a few changes to menu which positive. We went for cheapest Set Menu at £16 which very varied and excellent value, washed down with Tiger Beer. Definitely recommend.

Delicious food as always. It was a busy night but the young waitresses did their best and were cheerful and friendly.

Came here for dinner last week with my wife and two young children. Highchair was provided without any prompt. All around good food and good service.

My family and I are use the Longhouse for takeaways regularly and have eaten in on a few occasions but following our experience last night we will never return.

We came in late evening for a quick meal however during our time in the restaurant there was a sudden rush which meant the food was slightly delayed coming out. Despite this the waitresses were organised and calm, and ensured everyone was satisfied in the restaurant and by the bar. They were apologetic and honest about the situation and still managed to crack a smile despite the chaos. When the food arrived it was much enjoyed and the whole experience has not put us off coming again.

We walked in to an empty restaurant had the Set meal 2 and the food was fantastic! A hidden gem and one to visit again and again.

Really good food and very reasonably priced too. Have ordered from here and eaten in a few times over the years. The service is very quick and the food is always ready on time!

I've lived in Thailand and this is by far the most authentic restaurant in the area. Best Pad Thai I've had in the UK...though it should come with lime not lemon!

The nicest Chinese style meal I have had in a long time, I can see why this place is so popular. The wait for the food, is too long though and it was clear from waiting in the reception that Deliveroo is the reason for that.

We just had a first visit for a takeaway since recently moving into the area. One downside, the rice which we ordered as a Singapore Fried Rice was more like plain boiled rice with a few prawns and chicken chucked in. Otherwise, the Crispy Fried Chilli Beef and the Beef with Ginger and Spring Onion were both very nice. A bit more of the main dishes and a bit less of the rice would have been good measures. We will definitely return.

Came to Longhouse on a busy Saturday for a meal as we couldn’t be bothered to cook. We were seated immediately by a lovely girl who continued to talk us through the menu as neither of us had been to a Malaysian fusion restaurant. We were reassured that we were not uncultured and were recommended many dishes such as the salt and pepper chicken which we ordered two lots of as we were so impressed. Drinks were served promptly and we were asked many times throughout the meal if we needed any refills or if the waitresses could get us anything else. Food also came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. The rending beef curry was a highlight. Food was excellent for the money, not as expensive as other Chinese restaurants we have visited in the sevenoaks area. All the girls working clearly had a wonderful bond and a great sense of humour. Will definitely be visiting again for the lighthearted atmosphere and good food :)

Arrived at restaurant at 7-30 on a Friday evening ,only two other tables taken , ordered starters and crispy duck , when finished had to ask for another drink , then cleared table and asked us if we wanted coffee or desert menu to which I replied I would like to order our main course ? Ordered main course which was bought to the table by restaurant owner and he left without giving us any cutlery / chopstick and empty glasses terrible service from 5 staff and the owner Won’t visit again

Really good food and all round experience, clearly a popular place as even busy on a Sunday evening. Thanks to those who were working so hard to make our visit great!

Every time I seem to visit Longhouse, their fish tank is dirty with murky water and 9/10 there is a sick or dying fish. Yesterday's visit was no different and when mentioning it to the staff, they just laughed and said they've been sick for a while. Is animal cruelty a joke? I don't think so.

Joined some friends at this place last week. We normally have take aways however decided to eat in for once and we wheee not disappointed. It's a very busy place. Loved it.

Visited the restaurant with friends and was a little unsure as I have I only eaten Thai and Malaysian cuisine whilst on holiday. The menu is very extensive offering a vast variety of dishes suitable for all pallets. I started with chicken strips in a lovely sauce with onions, cashew nuts and peppers. I then had chilli beef strips and it was delicious. My friends chose one of the set menus which included, chicken Satay, crispy duck, noodles, squid and a lovely chicken dish in a clay pot with spring onions. A superb meal enjoyed by all

Do not like to have do a bad review. But this must be the worst Asian meal we have ever had, Satay chicken dry hard, ribs again dry as though they had been cooked yesterday.Spring rolls deep fried full of grease. Main course Malaysian chicken stewed no taste. The only excuse we ordered wrong.

Ordered from deliveroo, all tasted fine. Nothing to special considering the price was a lot more than a normal chinese. Maybe better to go there for dinner so only judging on the take away.

Nice food includes crispy lamb in lettuce and good allergy knowledge which is v important to us and much appreciated. Best in the area by some way!

Love this place, go regularly for a take away. Never had a poor meal. Food well cooked and good portions.

My mother and I have had numerous lunches here. They did a good priced lunch deal, that has now finished. However, it was advertised as being open until 3 pm and on occassions we arrived at 2 pm. The main meal would be brought out at the same time as the starter, so was cold by the time we came to it. I complained about this and was told that the kitchen was closing. To me, if this was the case, I would rather have not eaten there, to be rushed. The last time we went there, we both ended up with a dodgy stomach.

A group of 6 of us agreed that the meal was delicious and great value for money. The waitors/waitresses were lovely and friendly. It was quite good service as the food came quite quickly. I would definitely recommend.

We found the longhouse to be yet another restaurant that supplies take a ways as well as in house dinning . the downside to this is that the is a constant stream of staff traveling past your table with bags . we didnt find the young waitresses particularly friendly . the service was abit hit and miss too with half of our order arriving some time before the remainder arrived. what we had was tasty and our fellow guests did say was normally good so perhaps a second visit sometime is in order but the vibe does need lifting as we felt it was a trip back in time

My fiancé and I, both vegetarian, ordered a variety of bean curd dishes with rice from this restaurant the other day. The dishes were basically inedible due to the amount of oil in them ( not only was the beancurd swimming in oil in the sauce, the actual pieces of beancurd had absorbed a ton of oil so when you cut into them, they leaked lots of oil as well) and we had to throw most of it away. We have been customers here for years, and I do find that it is a bit hit and miss. Sometimes, dishes are cooked okay, other times they are terrible. I also find that the menu has stayed the same for years and needs a refresh. In addition, most of the sauces used are far too sweet. Overall, this latest experience has put me off ordering from here again, despite the convenience of its location to where we live. When you order a takeaway, it doesn’t necessarily have to be extremely healthy, but the amount of sugar and oil that goes into these takeaways makes them exceedingly unhealthy!

Had a takeaway from here a couple of times - food is perfectly acceptable but average. Never been inside the restaurant itself o cant comment on whether its better if you eat in-situ

The food is really, really good. Brilliant flavors, great selection and really fresh tasting. Best takeaway as well! Can get very busy so be sure to phone ahead if you want a takeaway.

Very pleased to finally have a Chinese that delivers in Sevenoaks! We ordered online using Deliveroo. Food was delivered fast, and was delicious! Will definitely be ordering again on those lazy Saturday nights.

Always have a lovely meal here, the staff are friendly and the service is great. Good choice of alcohol. There is a good choice of food from chinese style food through to thai food.

The food is okay, not great, not bad, but okay. We were there on a Saturday evening and the restaurant is basically a corridor from the kitchen to the takeaway counter. There weren't any dedicated restaurant staff as everyone was rushing about with takeaway orders and we felt a bit neglected to be honest.

We dined at the Longhouse as a party of eight, for a rare family gathering towards the end of November. This was on the basis of a recommendation from friends who'd enjoyed the Longhouse lunchtime buffet. On the Friday evening we were there, the restaurant was near empty, with only a couple of other tables occupied. Although the dine in side was quiet, the Longhouse obviously does a good trade in takeaways, with a small crowd of people and deliveroo riders waiting for orders. With no separation from the restaurant tables, those waiting for takeaways were spilling over into the dining area, detracting further from what atmosphere there was. On the service side, the waiter who took our order was devoid of charm, coming across as impatient and unhelpful. This was a shame as my Mum and her partner aren't used to asian cuisine and needed some advice. We then had a very long wait for our meal. When the food did arrive the tofu dishes we'd ordered were decidedly chewy. I didn't know it was possible to prepare tofu that tough! Otherwise, the food was pleasant enough.

Our normally Chinese was closed so thought we would try here after the reviews . We were really pleased with our order . A much healthier option to our standard one. It’s not the cheapest but the quality is very good . Lots of lovely flavours , none of the normally greasy taste . Will be back.

Easy to find in Riverhead, The Longhouse restaurant is described as Malaysian / Chinese fusion restaurant, which is great as it means you can have a selection of Thai and / or Chinese dishes. Inside, the restaurant is quite small and narrow as the name suggests but also is cosy and comfortable with plenty of room for each table. The food is really very good indeed, in our experience one of the best for this type of food in the area. The service is efficient and the staff are friendly, so altogether really good. Looking forward to our next visit.

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Sevenoaks. The food is lovely and very high standard! The staff are extremely friendly and that’s why I continue to choose longhouse as my number 1 Chinese restaurant in Sevenoaks . Thanks guys x

Just finished my first meal (take-away) and it will definitely not be my last, it was simply divine, to have fusion food of this quality in Sevenoaks is such a bonus Goodbye to the tasteless offerings that I have had to endure and Hello to this wonderful authentic and extensive menu, I would give it 100* if tripadvisor had a button

I love it but it is worrying how quick the food comes out. When we call for a takeaway they say it will be ready in 10 minutes. If I could make my dinner in 10 minutes I wouldn’t be ordering so many takeaways! Netherless the food is lovely and I’ve eaten there many times without any problems

Picked a very busy night to visit, diners and takeaway. Our service was good despite the rush. Mango prawns are to die for. Chicken chow mien is also good and unlike most other restaurants it is not bone dry.

Used to be a good deal. Spend over £25 pay cash get a free dish. Today I was told that is no longer the case. Shame as with that made it competitive and good value. Now it’s. It. No delivery either. Shame.

Been here a few times now and it never fails to impress. Decor is a bit strange but don’t be put off as the food is first class. Had Hong Kong Chicken, Duck, Dim sum, Pad Thai and king prawn curry! Yum!

On another house exchange, this time to Sevenoaks, from Newcastle upon Tyne, we were scouring the net for good food. Having had a great meal & drink at Brisket & Barrel the evening before, we were drawn to the Longhouse by its reviews & menu.

My wife and I ordered from The Longhouse this evening - Peking Duck, two main courses, rice and prawn crackers. What a great meal! This is very much an occasional dinner and we wish we had found this place before. So good we called and asked the manager to thank the chef. We will be back - don’t change a thing!
