As soon as you walk in the door the restaurant is warm and welcoming. The Christmas decorations are outstanding. The menu has something for everyone . The portions are very generous. Service was good . Definitely a notch above , other restaurants in the area.

I booked the table for 6 and paid a £60 deposit when only 5 of us could attend I lost the £10 deposit which I could understand if we cancelled the full booking but my goodness from 6 to 5. I was disappointed with this unfair policy. Meal was delicious and the staff were lovely although the girl taking the money for our bill didn’t seem to know what she was doing. I would give meal 10/10, service 8/10 but the policy about the deposit 1/10.

Took my daughter for dinner . Decor and staff were lovely . Food was a totally different matter. My daughter ordered a burger . On her first mouthful she found that it was burnt black . Why can a member of staff think this is acceptable to serve this . It was cremated . Totally ruined my daughter’s meal . Yes they did not charge for burger but she only ate the onion ring off the plate as was totally put off . They even had the audacity to then charge her for her dessert . 2nd bad meal at a Cawley establishment and we certainly will not be frequenting again

It was a lovely sunny day and I do like the view from the terrace which is the main draw. I ordered tea and a scone, the scone was very stale, and despite being reheated was dry and unappetising. It was quite expensive too, is it that difficult to provide fresh scones?

Had lunch here with my wife. I had the fish and chips which was adequate but the batter was 2 or 3 times the size of the fish. The chips were slightly under cooked. The mushy peas heavily minted for some reason. My wife's chicken supreme was more disappointing. Dry and overcooked. The Moretti at £6.50 a pint is a bit steep. All in all quite pricy for very average pub grub. Won't be back.

Visited yesterday for lunch with friends, its a lovely place, we'd a view of the loch from our table & the staff were pleasant, though service was a bit slow, but we were having a good blether so it didn't really matter. However the food, for what they charge was lower than average quality. The 2 soups for starters were good with warm rolls, the tempura prawns were ok, but the salad with them had obviously been prepared a lot earlier in the day, we'd booked for 13.30, it was all very dried up on the cut edges & not at all appetising. 1 had lasagne, which was delicious, my husband had the "slow cooked beef olives" there were only 2 on top of mashed potatoes with vegetables, but they were mostly sausage with not even enough beef to go around the sausage, reasonably tasty but disappointing. The worst main was "Beef & Mushroom Stroganoff served with steamed rice" well, the rice was saffron rice, bright yellow & quite dry & with a sweet flavour. I'd asked our waiter what kind of beef they used, he thought it was sirloin, it was most definitely not sirloin, more like a stewing beef with mushrooms & it looked like a casserole, dark brown gravy, NOT a stroganoff!! I nearly forgot it also came with a large slice of dry , looked like sourdough toast in the side of the bowl. We all had coffees. We have been several times, BUT we won't be back, Our bill for 4 people was £165 for a mediocre lunch, inc 1 bottle of wine, 1 soft drink & 1 non alcoholic beer. We wouldn't have minded the cost if the food had been first rate.

Was really excited to visited a country restaurant with what we thought was a good reputation. The entrance to the restaurant is lovely and we were looking forward to a nice Sunday afternoon meal. However, sadly that’s where it ends. We decided to sit outside as the weather was lovely. We ordered food and the main meal was lovely but when my wife ordered her dessert it arrived via the waiters thumb. It toppled when he was approaching our table and his colleague shielded him as they adjusted the meringue onto the plate. His thumb was covered in cream and we asked if his hands were clean! There was no apology and he then left. Why would he not just offer to give an undamaged dessert. I did contact the restaurant hoping to get this resolved before submitting on Tripadviser. Bitterly disappointed.

We weren't overly impressed with this place tbh. The location is beautiful and the decor is lovely but the food isn't great especially for the price they charge. The salad on the starters didn't look that fresh, the dipping sauce was horrible, the portions weren't massive, the mains weren't great either, the chicken burger tasted burnt, no other flavour to it, the curry tastes like a cheap microwave curry from the supermarket, etc, for the price I expected much better. The service was quick but noone ever asked if we needed anything else or if everything was OK. I definetly wouldnt recommnd and not sure we would rush back!

Lovely situ and had a window seat. Tempura Prawns were rubbery and overcooked, with what looked like some cabbage thrown onto the plate. We had taken my mother for lunch and she wanted fish and chips but a smaller portion (nearly 90 and doesn't eat huge portions) when I asked i was told we would have to pay full price before I was even advised if they did a smaller portion....it wasn't about the cost it was about a smaller portion. This left my mum feeling bad as we were paying full price for a smaller portion. Maybe having 2 different sizes for some of the main courses might help. A lot of places I have visited over the years do this, and some even let seniors order from the children's menu knowing that their appetites are not as big. We had to wait an age for puddings then had to ask for cutlery for our pudding. The only person who seemed happy to be serving there was the young lad who showed us to our seat and then at the end took our money.

We visited the Loch House for lunch a couple of weeks ago for lunch. We’d visited the restaurant in a previous guise however I’m not sure we’ll be back. Firstly the service was poor, we ordered drinks, the soft drink came within a few minutes however the coffee we ordered took over 20 minutes and three different prompts to be delivered. Our food order was taken and duly arrived after 20 minutes of waiting. Sadly, of the 4 meals ordered three were pretty substandard. My Father’s fish and chips was adequate however that’s where positives stopped. My steak Ciabatta was massively over cooked and mostly gristle served on a ciabatta with the texture of wood, the French Fries accompanying it twigs. My mums lasagne was tasteless, the pasta sheets still “overly Al Dente” and cold, a Tesco cheap microwave meal would have been better. My son in law’s roast chicken looked appetising however the vegetables were almost raw and the chicken bone dry. Very very disappointing. It’s not the cheapest place but had the food been good that would not have been a problem however it was simply very poor value for money. To top it off, vision coming out of the car park is almost non existent thanks to the arty post and rope fence line. I hate reviews like this, I want to find something positive but beyond polite staff I can’t add more.

Tempura was more like thick batter. Main was tasty but do hot it could only have been in microwave. Waiter explained liver was cooked long and slowly. It was lambs liver which is very delicate. Two mins either side would be all it needed. You could have soled your boots with it. Obviously not the chefs forte. It was so hot you can only get mash that hot by dinging in a microwave. Very expensive for what it was. Not my ideal experience but location and views are exceptional.

I’ve been here a number of time’s over the years and have to say the staff are great and the food is normally quite good. Our most recent visit, was on August 30th - slap bang in the middle of the Covid 19 measures so some differences were expected. Three starters; 2 black pudding stacks and vegan tempura. All ok, fairly average nothing amazing. Vegan tempura was alright, but could have done with some refinement given the vegetables were quite roughly cut and mostly raw. Three mains; liver, steak burger, vegan burger. Firstly the lambs liver was great, no complaints. The steak burger, arrived on a board (which I hate) and was difficult to eat unless you cut into pieces. Not the best and cold chips somewhat took away from the meal. The vegan burger. It really was disappointing. There are so many more alternatives on the market that could’ve made the meal good. What we got was a generic vegan burger which wasn’t very appealing at all. To finish we each had coffee & hot chocolate. Bill for three - a somewhat astounding £81.45. At around £28 a head I thought what we got, wasn’t value for money. As a positive the covid measures were great and we did feel safe.

This is the first time I have been here since it was taken over by Cawley several years ago. My previous experiences were not positive. Tonight, however, we had a super time and great food. We shared a bowl of whitebait as a starter then my wife had macaroni cheese (huge!) that she had lots of fun eating because of the stringy cheese. There were two large slices of garlic toast with it. I had the 7oz steak burger. Massive and nicely served with good coleslaw, chips and good garnish. Again, too much for me to finish but the quality was great. My wife then had a mini- mess (in the nicest possible way) that she loved but could not finish. The staff were very good without being intrusive and the lady who seemed to be dedicated to cleaning the tables, etc., was very thorough and efficient. The menus were laminated in plastic and were wiped down as well. A track and trace form was left for us to complete.I cannot fault this place in any way and commend all of the staff for working hard to keep us safe, well and happy.I will be back often.

vegetable tempura consisted of 5 small pieces of peppers and half a small mushroom in a very hard batter absolutely lost on the plate, served with a side of sauce . The prawn one my husband had was twice the size and much better presented. The honey root vegetable burger marked vegan was not strictly vegan if had honey and seemed a frozen pre made one. The sweet pepper relish was missing but by this time I gave up asking since I already had a dismissive response to my comment about the tempura. Very much seemed like a token gesture of catering for "these vegans" without any effort at all with the food. I would not recommend.

Just above average as my family of 4 had mixed thoughts on the food. The chicken tempura starter was huge and tasty, as was the mushroom gratin. The sourdough bread looked like 2 slices of hovis and tasted like it too. Very disappointing. Mains- the chicken crepes were fantastic! The steak burger nothing special. The southern fried chicken came a bit overcooked, the corn was burnt and the Cajun fries had far too much Cajun spice poured onto them making them inedible. The hand cut chips did not taste nice at all and the onion rings were hard. The bill came to around £87 for 4 starters, 4 mains and 2 drinks (way overpriced) which is not value for money. Thankfully we had the discount for help to eat out otherwise we’d have been extremely disappointed. We won’t be returning. On the plus side, the building is beautiful and nicely done out inside.

I had previous knowledge of Cawley Restaurants and visited yesterday, 24,8.20.Service was good and I ordered Haggis at £12.95 which I had previously enjoyed as a starter in one of their other restaurants. It arrived, but was not much more than a starter. My husband had ordered Macaroni which was plentiful. He commented how little was my serving and i felt so too. I commented to the waitress that I thought the portion was miserly and she said she would pass this on to the Chef. We had our coffee and I’d heard nothing back, so another young lady, who appeared to be in a senior position had come to our table, so I once again commented that the portion was miserly and did little to quell my appetite. At first, she said she did not understand what I was saying and I clarified for her that. It was not value for money. She said she was sorry I was disappointed but if I spoke to her on my next visit, she woulD take note of my requirements!!! I made it clear that I was not complaining about the quality of the food, it was the quantity. At £12.95, I expected more than what appeared to be a cereal bowl in size. Response not worthy of your reputation Cawley!

Hubby had a mini mess which had almost liquid ice cream. So poor. Waitress passed on our comment and would take it off the bill. sat for a while then got the bill. No reduction, fed up so just paid up. We had decided to book a table for 8 whilst my son is home on leave - obviously that was a bad move. We'll go elsewhere... Went here as a group of 9 after completing the Castle Semple Walk. The Loch House is a lovely building with very good parking space. Internally, the decor is beautiful and there is a very relaxed atmosphere. Most of our group chose the carvery which was very tasty with good sized helpings : same for the fish and chips. We also had the strawberries and cream which were a treat. Lunch was very good value for money. The staff were very attentive and friendly (although the carvery chef could be a bit more customer orientated). We also spent some time in the external patio enjoying the views. Overall, a lovely ending to our walk and we would highly recommend a visit. PS The restaurant is about 50 minutes drive from Glasgow city centre.

We took our friends to Loch House for a belated anniversary dinner. The staff could not have been more attentive and the food was excellent. Have been on many occasions before and have never been disappointed. Will certainly revisit, would definitely recommend.

Visited tonight with son and grandson. The staff were numerous and helpful. However, the food was distinctly average. I had a fish and seafood pie, the waitress said to watch out for the plate was hot, however it was lukewarm at best. There was a dearth of seafood in the pie but had a topping of mashed potato and cheese. The chicken darroch was also fairly average and seemed a very small portion for a grown man. Both my wife and son had to ask the staff about omissions from their desert. On paying the bill, the in waitress asked "how was the meal" and I said pretty average and she just shrugged. The place was by no means full but the main course seemed to take forever to arrive. My wife has visited this place before and spoke highly of it but it was disappointing on this occasion. Could do better. In addition I think the food is slightly overpriced.

My Dad is not a big eater these days so we asked for the children's menu so that it would be manageable portions for him. He picked what he wanted for his main meal and then said to the waitress what he wanted for his dessert again from the childrens menu. To start with we all had to wait to be served our food for over an hour and the place was not that busy. He had chosen at the start a mini mess from the children's menu. The dessert came which he ate half of it but when we were all finished and my sister asked for the bill we noticed that we had been changed for a full portion of the dessert which is double the price of the one from the childrens menu. When we questioned this the manager, Bob, replied that he was sorry that it was the wrong size of dessert but that we would still have to pay it as my Dad had eaten some of it. Our bill came to over a £100 and I could not believe the way the manager just brushed off our complaint for their mistake in not giving us the dessert which we asked for from the childrens menus but would not budge on charging us £7.50 instead of the one we asked for which was £3.50. The extra £4.00 is not even the issue it is that along with the long wait we had initially for our food and the complete brush off and the total indifference manner by this manager that made my sister and myself very angry. He couldn't have cared less about our complaint. The situation could have and should have been handle it a much more curtious way. We will not be back

I am a regular visitor and tonight the service was very poor, it wasn’t overly busy, been many a time and every table has been taken and didn’t wait as long, my father in law is 86 and not a big eater so he ordered a childs meal which was fine ,he then ordered from kids menu a mini mess, when it came out we thought it was quite big and the young girl that brought it out said oh it is big, enjoy. The other main meals took an extremely long time to be served and as I said wasn’t overly busy, when the bill came we checked it and we’d been charged for an adults pudding, we said to the manager and his reply was it was an adults portion that my father-in-law was given and it had all been eaten there was nothing he could do about it. My father-in-law couldn’t eat it all so his daughter had a bit of it. Very dissapointed with the manager Roberts attitude, as I said go regularly and felt service was very, very poor tonight and never had that before at The Loch House.

We like to treat ourselves and eat at the restaurant because the setting is stunning. We decided to take along some family who were visiting us. Our meal was good however the Scallop and black pudding starter was a huge disappointment. £10.50 for 3 Scallops, 1 big Scallop and 2 small Scallops. We know it’s a starter but your money is basically paying for salad and black pudding there really aught to have been at least two extra scallops. So manage you expectations if ordering starters because we were disappointed.

Having finished our main course we waited almost half an hour to order desserts. Although the restaurant was relatively quiet but ample staff on hand we were blatantly ignored despite trying to attract their attention. We had made our choice of desserts but decided not to order them as we were fed up waiting for service. It meant a loss of 23 pounds to them off the bill. Glad they can afford to lose the business. Eventually attracted a waitress's attention to get the bill. Glad to leave and will not be back in a hurry.

A lovely restaurant not far from Castle Semple Country Park. The interior is well presented and the staff were friendly and helpful. They offer a separate Gluten Free menu, which is ideal as I am a diagnosed coeliac. The Loch House is also open later than many in the area and offers both a carvery and an a la carte menu. The on;y issue was that, whilst it tasted very nice, it would have been preferable to have more of the smoked fish in the fish pie to give that extra bit of taste. My husband said the carvery was really nice.

I had the pleasure of a family dinner at the Loch House recently. Our service and meal was fantastic. Special shout out to the chef Gary, who catered to my fussy needs and provided me with a delicious onion free dressing to give with my honey lemon salad. This was very much appreciated and the family will definitely be back.

Visited this week with friends whilst visiting the area. Was a beautiful day so stopped here to have some lunch - the place is lovely , very corporate decor and beautifully presented BUT , greeted by a professional looking and sounding man who was directing people to tables - when we asked if we could sit outside as it was so hot his whole demeanour changed - ‘sandwiches only and you’ll need to order at the bar’ , we asked where the menus were to be told to get them

Lovely place, nice views and friendly staff especially the manager - I think Robert was his name who was very attentive and patient with my elderly relatives. Unfortunately the food here is awful- overpriced, poor quality and just bought in reheated, deepfried, microwaved and of the bulk catering variety type. There is little or no skill involved in preparing any of the offerings here and no real cooking or home baking of desserts.

We booked this as a surprise 80th birthday, family dinner. Place was spotless. Staff were very friendly. Service was very good. Quick to get drinks from the bar. Had an excellent selection of both alcohol and non alcoholic drinks. Menu was pretty extensive with a really good choice. All our food (there were 13 of us) was of excellent standard, and huge portions of all courses. The mini mess desert was anything but "mini". Will most definitely be back. Highly recommend. *****

The waiting staff were wonderful and very friendly but they were let down by the rude chefs service at the counter. He clearly felt he was above serving customers food and made us feel uncomfortable. Ice cream was awful full of Ice clearly been re frozen after melting had no taste. Real shame as lovely location & service at the table was great.

We are regular visitors to The Loch House. As always the service was top drawer! The setting is the perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal. The atmosphere within the establishment is relaxed. We have had many lunches, dinners and coffees - all of which have been fab! A special mention to Joe who always greets customers with a cheery smile. He has a fabulous sense of humour and always checks-in on customers throughout their stay. Joe is a top man who always goes the extra mile! The Loch House wouldn’t be the same without him! Keep up the good work Joe, Ryan and all the team at The Loch House... #a-team

Great meal again at this wonderful restaurant. Saturday afternoon. Sunny day. Sat by a window. Great views great service. Met the cheery manager again. He's a natural. Made for this job. Think it's Joe or Joel. ( might not have heard it properly) . He speaks a little fast but he's funny and the kids like him. Meals were delicious. I had the Haggis Gourmet burger. Couldn't finish it. Made the mistake of ordering a starter. ( Cullen Skink) Boys had kids Carvery and finished their plates and the beautiful wife chose the Cajun chicken salad ( Gluten free) and Chips. Our 3rd visit in a few months and if I ask the family where would you like to go eat???.....a unanimous verdict of "The Loch House". Our new favourite. Big thanks to Joe and the staff. See you again soon.

This restaurant has so many things going for it and the potential to be wonderful. It has lovely views, it is beautifully decorated, it has a positive atmosphere and is always warm enough and the staff are amazing with the exception of one balding, incompetent manager that they should have got rid of years ago. The food however has gone steadily downhill. Everything seems to be deepfried, microwaved, reheated bought in, out of a packet rubbish! There isn't any sign of real cooking skills going on in this kitchen, it's not even up to the standard of 'pub grub'. We had burnt 'medium done' fillet steaks, macaroni and cheese swimming around in watery packet sauce. The desserts are way overpriced at £7.50 and are the mass produced, bought in ones from the wholesalers. If a restaurant are going to charge this for a dessert then you expect it to be freshly made by a skilled chef in their own kitchen- not some defrosted/microwaved offering from Costco or some such place.

We went to the Loch House restaurant on Easter Sunday. The setting at Loch Winnoch was wonderful. The decor was modern but tasteful. The staff were totally professional and the food was good. My choice was the gourmet haggis burger which I really enjoyed. After eating we went outside for a drink with views overlooking the Loch. The restaurant is a Cawley hotel group site. While we were at the table there was an information card showing other restaurants in the group one of them being the Boardwalk in Falkirk. On Easter Monday we went to visit the Kelpie's so we decided that as we had a good experience at the Loch House we would visit the Boardwalk. Big mistake! The restaurant was modern and well appointed. Unfortunately that's the only good thing I can say about it. We chose to eat outside which they called casual dining. We ordered five meals only one came out. When we enquired as two where the other four were they said inexplicably the order had for some reason been cancelled. We would have walked away there and then had we not paid upfront because we were sitting outside. Forty minutes later the other four came out the order wasn't right so we had to go back to tell them. More time wasted then they brought no cutlery out more time wasted. They then brought a couple of mocktails out that we hadn't ordered the waitress had a face liked a smacked backside. The reason they got that bit wrong was our table of which we were there first had the same number as ours. The number was allocated as you ordered your food. Now if ours was the only cockup they could be forgiven but no they managed to mess up every order from the other tables. The staff were totally miserable didn't apologise or offer up a drink on the house or anything else. My solution to this problem if I was a board member reading this damming review is simple send the staff to the Loch House to be trained and how to go on with the members of the paying public who after all are keeping them in a job. If ever I am up that way again I would have no problem going to the Loch House but unless things drastically change at the Boardwalk I would give it a wide berth.

Visited as a family on Easter Sunday and the food was good. However, there is a drawback. It is expensive for what is really just pub grub. The drinks are vastly overpriced, what you would perhaps expect to pay in a city centre restaurant. £3 for a soft drink is excessive and we ordered a Fruit Shoot for the wee one and where you can buy these at the supermarket 4 for £1, they charged £2.75 for it! Shocking price for what is after all a children's drink. The desserts are similarly overpriced with an average sized piece of Apple Pie with a small ball of ice cream costing £7.50. The food was all very good with particular mention of the Fish & chips, however the starter of prawn cocktail was disappointing as it was clearly the smallest and cheapest prawns used with an £8 price tag. overall the food was good but it is trying to be something it's not and is charging for the privilege.

Give afternoon tea a miss. For the price and the Marr Hall status it was extremely disappointing. It was a gift...had I paid for it I would have complained. Eating area quite uncomfortable. Low sagging chairs ...meant I had to jump up and down to reach the tray. Afternoon tea was nothing impressive...had better for less than half the price elsewhere....
