The Loading Bay @ Flourish in Watford

Have been back a few times and have hoped on each occasion it would be better, but sadly not. The only good thing is I was offered a chair to sit on while we waited as im disabled. Food would have been better had it been hot! We ordered French toast, eggs, and avocado toast. Scrambled eggs on toast with smoked salmon. We also ordered 2 oat milk lattes, and they gave us coconut milk lattes. They were busy and the manager did come and speak to us. But it's not the 1st time we've been let down by them. Their bakery and what they bake is absolutely heavenly. We will often buy stuff to take home but sitting in the restaurant can be very hit and miss.

Best pizza in Watford by far. High quality sourdough almost as good as being in Italy. Great selection of red and white base sauces.

Amazing pizza! We stopped on the way home from London and we were glad we did. The pizza so so good. You must eat here you won't regret it. Pizza as good as you'd get in Italy. Also get the hot honey dip, it's incredible!

Good food. Would be much more convenient to be able to order pastries while at the table. Ensure more customers get to taste the excellent baked items.

Don’t be put off by this places location (on an industrial estate) the food is so good. There’s a bakery & a pizza place which does great pizzas & cakes would definitely recommend it.

Honestly, one of the best pizzas in Hertfordshire... if not the best! Recommended by a friend to come along to this industrial estate... Greeted by a vast space and a counter full of fresh baked goods... was slightly dubious at first as its a pizzeria with cookies on the counter... but I was so, so wrong. Ordered a Diavola, was made fresh and came out in about 8 minutes. Crispy bottom, lightly charred crust but with tasty and fresh toppings. Awesome Pesto mayo to dip the crust was lovely, too! Will 1000000% be back, will review the cookies and granola I bought at a later stage too!

FABULOUS - visited last week and ordered the mushroom and spinach pizza. It was hands down, the very best pizza I have eaten (and I’ve eaten quite a few!!!!) - the sourdough crust had an excellent char and chew, the toppings were generous and freshly prepared and it was perfectly seasoned. Great value for money too, so I look forward to returning when I next visit. 10/10 :)

I was looking for a good Italian style pizza and found these guys took a chance and ordered. So glad I did as these are amazing. Definately gonna order from here again. Sorry about the pic I'd already eaten 1/2 as it smelled and looked so good.

Got 2x take away pizzas delivered arrived freezing cold but thats not the worst thing they have zero flavour, the topping are so stingy and sparse it an absolute joke and well you think your pizza should have fresh basil leaves you are lucky if you get one leaf ffs which is a big shame as the sourdough is lovely and cooked beautifully just such a let down where it matter and the price does not equate to.... SORT IT OUT YOU HAVE SO MUCH POTENTIAL BUT JUST LETTING YOURSELVES AND MOST IMPORTANTLY YOUR CUSTOMERS DOWN...

Really interesting place. Good food (had a great lasagne) and a wonderful selection of cakes and pastries. Popular, which creates a problem with a lack of parking.

Very good food! Good cafe / restaurant with indoor & outdoor tables in the unlikeliest of places. Good bakery attached as well.

Lovely place for breakfast, brunch, lunch. Adequate vegetarian amd vegan food, but could do better. Sadly no coffee today due to replacement coffee machine being installed. Usually coffee is very good.

Great for a luxury breakfast. Quiet at 8am on a Monday, but that is hardly their fault! I have been several times, food is always great and the service is good.

Absolutely terrible experience. Last day for an employee, so ordered food for the office. Only 5 pizzas out of 9 arrived, and it said everything had been delivered. We called the restaurant who said Just Eat only sent one driver, so they'd tried ot organise for a second driver. We had to wait 50 minutes for the next half of our order to be delivered (4 pizzas & 9 drinks). Really poor service.

Great hidden gem! Tasty Neapolitan style pizza, friendly and efficient service. My son completely devoured his Margherita and he's so fussy with food. Lots of people in the know are coming to pick up pizzas. Easy parking just outside.

It was Father’s Day and the sun was out so it was very busy but the food was delicious and milkshake was very vanilla. Service was very slow, I asked for jugs of water and never got them but apart from that, the food service was great

Best pizza for miles and miles. Absolutely love the dough and the quality of toppings. Normally we take away but sat in today. Had a very small issue and was sorted out within seconds. 11/10 all round. No idea how they only have 4.6 rating

This place is great for everyone. All ages! Caters for all dietary needs - vegan, gluten free etc. It also has a mini children's menu. Fresh bakery on site too.

Had the amazing experience of having these guys cook us pizza at a wedding. Ogy is an incredible pizza maker. He knows what he’s doing.

A hidden gem located (oddly) within an industrial estate, but don't let this put you off. We visited Flourish and we were surprised to see a very humble, earthy interior nested in the nook of an industrial estate. Their menu ranges from breakfast pastries to brunch plates and we were even given a menu for The Loading Bay located next door. Their menu of sourdough pizzas isn't huge but covers enough to keep everyone happy. We tried one of their rosso (red based) pizzas and Blanco (white based) pizzas and they were great.

The pizza is not what it used to be sadly. I always order the salsiccia e friarielli (without friarielli). For context, we dined in Flourish (next door) but ordered pizza from The Loading Bay. Normally we eat in The Loading Bay itself. The pizza is described as the following: Fior di latte mozzarella, parmesan, fennel pork sausage, friarielli, scamorza, Roquito chilli, and fresh basil. For context, I only ever order this so have eaten many times. What I received was really poor...a pizza loaded with a thick dense covering of cheese, minimal fennel sausage, no parmesan, no basil, 3 tiny roquito peppers and the pizza covered instead with what looked like jalapenos! I actually said to the table, this has ruined my day. If you are lacking in several ingredients, why not come back to the table and make me aware so I can make a different choice. I really do feel that they do not think much of their patrons if they assume that myself or anyone else would not notice. To me it again shows a lack of care or consideration. I was absolutely starving so picked my way through the pizza as I had no energy to bring up the issue, and did not want to make a scene with those I was eating with. Every visit I always take a picture of my pizza to send to my Italian friends, but this time I did not due to what I was given - although I wish I had for the context of this review. In addition to the above, feel that the training of the staff is lacking warmth and attention to detail. Even when we arrived at Flourish we were looking around unsure as to whether our order is taken at the table or you go to the till. Noone really seems helpful unfortunately. It was not very busy, maybe 5 tables occupied and lots of staff on shift, so no reason for lack of attentiveness. I will say, it has been like this on most occasions, but not getting any better...One of our table had their food before us, so they ate alone and finished their plate, the pizza arrived well after they had finished. The food should arrive together so we can eat together, which is a standard set up for eating in a cafe...? Just super disappointed, I really used to like the pizza here....but the careless in which todays pizza was made and lack of consideration just made me go completely cold to the place. It really is disappointing they do not think enough of customer to let you know any issues, but bring out something else that was sub standard.

Parked here too many times over the years but never had a pizza and what pizzas they are!!! Don't just take my word for it, try it out for yourself. Look at my other reviews to see where I've been!

Absolutely amazing! One of the best pizzas i’ve ever had, probably the best in the uk! The tomato sauce tastes so fresh! The dough is airy, the ingredients all taste fresh. Only minor thing was that there was quite a few tiny bones in the anchovies, but that’s a personal issue 😅, and could have had a bit more seasoning and garlic in the bruschetta! Apart from that: top! Staff is really lovely as well, and the place is clean and cosy! Fair prices as well. Can highly recommend! Thank you ☺️💛(the toppings on the pizza moved due to us taking it home with us, not the fault of the restaurant 😁)!

Usually my favourite place to order from, however this time not only the dough was not as good as usual but a slice of pepperoni fell on the pizza, which was meant to be vegetarian. I understand it's a mistake but unfortunately it's a serious one.

My family and I usually dine here on a Sunday afternoon when it tends to be quieter. Fantastic, fresh pizzas! Probably one of the best pizzas to be had locally. The ice cream tubs to takeaway are also brilliant.

A little pricy for what you get, had to leave quickly as it got very very noisy.

Always a treat, the pepperoni was not as greasy as it often tends to be with other pizzerias!

Last Friday we ordered 4 pizzas over the phone for collection, 3 diavolas and one ham and mushroom for my Mum who doesn’t like spicy food. This was the first meal we were going to enjoy together as a family, as my Mum has just come out of hospital having been in there for 2 months. She wanted to order from here, as she always comes to the bakery to buy bread. We were told they’d be ready in 30 minutes. I went to pick them up, and I asked not once, but 3 times, are they definetely the right pizzas. Yes the girl at the till confirmed. When I got home, it was infact 4 diavolas I had been given. I rang up to complain and was told that if I brought the pizza back, they would give me a voucher (but not my money back). What use is this to me, when we were sitting down for a family meal and I’d already driven there and back to collect them. So not only was the evening ruined, but the lack of customer service and the attitude of the staff member was appalling. I like supporting local businesses, but as a result of this experience, I will not be returning. All you needed to do was offer an apology and refund me for the pizza you got wrong, but you weren’t prepared to do this.

I've dined in with family, mates, had take aways and recommended to friends!

A cosy pizzeria serving fresh, high quality pizza. Definitely a place for the foodies or authentic pizza lovers. The prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent.

The pizzas are simple but always of a reliably high quality and in our opinion good value.

The pizza is amazing here, definitely worth a visit. It has a great sourdough base with tasty sauce and generous toppings. Also the service was great, lovely waiter who provided a high level of customer service and really made the evening special.

Had high expectations of the place. It is average flavour. I am sure that it does well and better than the main takeaway brands as it is proper base. Service was also not on point. There is a small space, but the team were interested in talking amongst themselves.

Love the high quality, delicious food and hot drinks. All served with a smile. Couldn't resist taking home the salted caramel brownie and Pasteis de Nata for dessert. They didn't disappoint!

Disappointed that the pizza I ordered arrived 45 minutes late despite pre-ordering. When the pizza arrived, it was missing a topping which I'd paid extra for (I ordered a vegan pizza with ham as I'm dairy free, but they must have presumed this was a mistake). I wish they had called to check! By the time the pizza arrived, they had shut and I couldn't speak to anyone.

Amazing stone baked sour dough pizza. Fresh ingredients and very tasty! Kids love a take out from here at the weekends. My favourite - The Diavalo- usually ask for Buffalo mozzarella !

Great crust and tasty sauce, but why the cheap as chips pepperoni that you'd expect to get on one of those Chicago Town microwave pizzas. Grease dripping all over the place and lacking any flavour. Just spend a few pennies extra and get some decent supply.

We had our first pizza delivery from the loading bay tonight & I can honestly say I will not be ordering from any other pizzeria in Watford in the future, we ordered 3 pizzas and all 3 were delivered piping hot & tasting just like they delivered from Italy absolutely perfect!

Absolutely awful customer service! Placed an order for a delivery over £80 and ordered the pizza special which had a description of a hot honey pizza with salami, olives and more. When arrived, the pizza it was a cream base with bolognaise. I then rang the restaurant to let them know it was wrong and they said yes the special is wrong on deliveroo and said this was deliveroos fault even though they had the order wrong. They then told me that the only option was to drive and pick up a new pizza to which I told them I could not as I don’t drive. They said I would have to sort this myself with deliveroo and they couldn’t do anything else to help. I told them this wasn’t acceptable as they sent the wrong order and it shouldn’t be down to me to reorder this and have to pay another £5 plus delivery. They said they’d speak to deliveroo and then when I called them back they said there was no option except for me to pick it up and told me that I had ‘refused’ to do so, even though I explained I couldn’t drive and therefore could not get there. They said they had done their part and I had to sort it out myself. The manager on the phone was extremely rude, argumentative and the rest of my family who heard were shocked at his attitude.

Great pizza, excellent sour dough base , fresh ingredients , one of the best pizza places in town.

My partner and I ordered one pizza each - On both pizzas the underside was incinerated, black burnt. We had to scrape underside in order to make it edible. I have just a question: how do you send out pizzas that have obviously been burnt?? Unacceptable. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted.

The team are really polite and genuine. The pizza is fabulous! The base is so wonderfully thin and the ingredients fresh and high quality. Prices are spot on for this above standard produce. Speedy service. Look no further for pizza in Watford!

My pizzas were burnt and had very little toppings, I was overcharged as well. This was a takeaway so I can’t comment on the atmosphere. Very disappointed, would not visit again.
