A brilliant cute little place that got nice set of dumplings. Bit pricey but good indulgence.

Card machine was not working and also the fryer wasn’t work so only steamed available, the lady behind the counter was very unhelpful. Then when we sat down in the window the counter was covered in sticky grease. Look like they hadn’t been wiped for weeks. Dumplings were ok, but not handmade and expensive for frozen almost £7 for 6?! Also served in the steaming basket with no spring onions and sesame seeds which I’ve seen in other images. I’ll stick to the authentic bao and gyoza you can get in the Grainger market, freshly made by hand and a fraction of the price here. Would not recommend.

I don't think how this place gets such good reviews. The dumplings were not authentic, much the same as you get from the frozen range you get in supermarket and being charged a lot more! The service was extremely slow and I witnessed another table of customers having their order and the young man serving was not understanding what the customers wanted. The worst thing was the same young man who had very greasy slicked back hair touched his hair constantly then using those same hands to touch and serve food. Had we not paid for our food to take out, we would have walked out by now. The place lacked atmosphere and so regretting making this choice, never again.

Fortune to work very close to this little delight on Ridley Place. Every time I have been you are always met with happy helpful staff. The price is very reasonable for being in the city centre. Dumplings are cooked as you wait, and the food is always delicious. Would absolutely recommend a visit to the little dump windscreen house.

Great food for great prices and nice staff too; well worth the money!

If you've never had okay dumplings before the food here might be acceptable, but it is bland, not fresh and the cleanliness didn't seem up to even a decent standard. The staff seemed totally disinterested, rude and often would only respond with a sigh! Having to pay 20p extra for sauces is okay (maybe) but malt vinegar instead of black rice vinegar?! Haway, sort it out.

LOVED IT! Lovely hidden gem! My friend and I shared a few different dumplings and things on the menu. We also had a vegan friend with us who ordered separately. All the food arrived close together, very hot, and make sure we knew which ones were hers. The food tasted amazing, it was cheap and the majority came in sets of 6, so definitely getting your moneys worth. The actual place was quiet and peaceful. I loved it here, would 1000% go again.

Food was really lovely and there was a good amount of options on the menu- especially for vegetarians, which is good to see. The staff were very lovely, too!

Ordered a VSC from Ubereats, they completely left out half the filling (the omelette) upon letting them know and sending a pic nothing was done about it, no apology either Definitely not even the best bao bun in town either, so save your time and money!

Xiao Long Bao 10/10. Steamed prawn and cabbage dumplings also great. Try them with the vinegar, soy & chilli oil all mixed together. My only wish would be see a really hot chilli oil/sauce to try, as I tried both but they didn’t quite kick as much as I would have liked. Wasn’t a problem though.

Good taste but exaggeratedly expensive: £13,2 for what you see in the photo (still hungry). As a previous reviewer said, won’t do again.

Very good dumplings, possible the best I’ve had in Newcastle. Pretty reasonable priced as well, went there many times while at uni.

Disappointed that the vegan bao bun options have changed- the carrot, mushroom, cabbage one used to be SO delicious and now they just have a tofu and mushroom one which doesn't really taste that great :(

it's one of those places where if you're ND like me you might do a silly little wiggle dance while you're eating because the food is so damn good

The only downside is that they sell soy sauce in a plastic container, which results in too much plastic waste. However, the food and staff are good.

Great fresh dumplings and bao buns. Good amount of indoor and outdoor seating usually so you can relax with delicious dumplings. Do also sell bottles of asahi that goes great with it Edit: revisited recently and, unfortunately, a bit of a letdown. The woman who served me looked miserable, like serving me was an inconvenience, then walked away as soon as she got my money. The tables/benches are diety and sticky, look like they haven't been cleaned down in days. Dumplings are still good but loses some of the charm with the above.

Little slow service, Food was OK, but won't order again. Had Fried chicken Xiao bao bun and pork bao.

My first time here and I was a little disappointed. With a score of 4.7 I expected more. Firstly, the menu and food were okay. However, paying for chopsticks and napkins, especially when there are no napkins, just a box of tissues on the counter isn't great. There are no small plates to move a dumpling out of the main basket, so you dunk and eat half then just hover the remaining over a tissue until taking that final mouthful. They serve soup dumplings but there aren't any soup spoons so I had to put the whole thing in my mouth rather than bite open and enjoy the soup. Having said that, the soup was salty and greasy. There are photos of veggies and edamame beans in other reviews but on the menu was only the dumplings, a seaweed salad (which they didn't have) and kimchi (from a plastic jar). Overall, I think there are many better dumpling and Asian restaurants in Newcastle.

I personally like pork and cabbage steamed dumplings very much, but I have also tried other flavors and they are also delicious. It tastes really good, and the dumplings and steamed buns are made with care and are so cute. Very delicious, highly recommended. And the male waiters are also very nice, but the service from the girls is a bit worse.

Omg this new addition to Brentwood Ave in Jesmond is amazing. The Beef Bao Bun is delicious, so reasonably priced in here! Been a few times already. Definitely recommend it!😋

Great dumplings and Bao Buns! We’ve been here a few times recently and every time the food has been great & staff are very friendly. Nice little place!

Well, I was eager to try the food at the new restaurant in Jesmond, but after sitting waiting for over 30mins without even a drinks order being taken, I quickly left. The restaurant was not even remotely full, but a group of walk in customers were served before my girlfriend and I. Thoroughly disappointing from a service perspective.

This is my absolute fave place to eat. If I am ever craving something warm 9/10 time I will find my self here. I have dined with friends and I have dined by myself. I have yet to find something I don't like on the menu. My favourite was the lamb dumplings and my least favourite were the prawn. However since the lamb has been removed from the menu, the quality of the prawn dumplings have improved ten fold, and they have quickly taken over as my go too.

If you want steamed dumpling out of a freezer bag (we saw them!); for half of the menu to disappear an hour before closing (“because it takes an hour to clean the fryer down”) and enjoy stomach cramps at 4:45am in the morning then this is the place for you! So disappointing…

Live for their chili sauce, wish I could buy it by the jar. So sad they took out the chicken and mushroom dumplings with the new menu, those were my favorite. The newest chicken option is ok.

It's a shame I have to leave this review, as the food is very tasty, but I have serious reservations when it comes to the hygeine here. A couple of weeks ago, the staff member who served me was taking money, collecting customers empties and preparing food, without stopping to wash his hands in between once. That should have been enough, but I am a sucker for good dumplings. Next week, bleach blonde lady prepping the dumplings was coughing everywhere, no mask. I had already paid before I realised. Again, I should have made a wiser call, but I took the food I ordered, which I enjoyed as usual. Several days later I come down with COVID-19. The food is delicious, but should come with a health warning. I am done with this place.

Lush food really nice sweet ice. Great tables. Throws three different types of veggie dumpling and all lovely but aubergine was best also do tiger beer. Prices are really good will go back

I’m not usually one for reviews however I visited this restaurant yesterday and felt it deserved one. I was served by a lovely young man and lady, they were both friendly and made the atmosphere feel very inviting. I loved the new menu, and will definitely be recommending this place to others. Special shout out to the young lady serving yesterday that went the extra mile to ensure our visit was very enjoyable.

So devastated that one of my favourite places has gone so downhill it's unrecognisable! I think it must be under new management as the friendly staff have gone, the fresh incredible food has gone and lots of our favourite items have disappeared from the menu. The dumplings are now quite soggy and seem as though they've been cooked from frozen, the baozi are now tiny and the filling is really bland, the salads we used to love aren't on the menu anymore and the vegan options have been reduced to one filling type for dumpling and baozi compared to the 4 there used to be. Staff seemed disinterested and rude. We used to eat here so much but it's unrecognisable from the dumpling house we know, we won't be going again sadly.

The food was lovely, and I was served by two friendly girls today. It was a great visit, good value and service.

Quite disappointing. - Felt like the staff were doing me a favour by being there - Should put menus on tables - Everything tastes the same - All the fillings were quite dry, but particularly the beef bao - Paying for tiny pots of soy sauce feels cheeky and is a waste of plastic. They should come in an easy to dip container - Spent a fair whack and was still hungry

Went earlier today around 2pm! Food was banging, and the staff were very friendly.

Was really looking forward to trying this place and it was a little disappointing. I must say the food was nice, it would however be better if it was not previously frozen. But overall they were pretty decent. What made this an unpleasant experience was the atmosphere and staff. So much so I wanted to walk out and not wait for my food. It was very very clear to everyone in there today that the two girls working were a little stressed, which is understandable but when everyone is making comments about the attitude they have it isn’t great. And I mean everyone. It wasn’t nice professional seeing the constant huffing and puffing- or the look of annoyance when another customer wanted to order. When people asked for a napkin or the toilet code it was a huff and an eye roll and they simple just pointed at the items. The wait for the food was rather long. I would have been more than happy to wait if the girls were more happy and communicated things but there attitudes sadly on this day were very poor- I’m sure it’s not like this all the time and they are lovely. But it has indeed meant that I will sadly not return. I understand times get stressful, but there was no professionalism at all. Even one of the workers kept saying to her colleague ‘ what’s up with your face, I feel like your not happy today at all, what’s up with your face’.

My absolute favourite place for food the past couple of years and deffo my favourite comfort food. A little disappointed at the new menu as my favourite chicken and mushroom dumplings are now cabbage and carrot which really isn’t as good at all. I think a new ingredient has been added to the bao buns too but I’m not sure. Still good but really not as nice as the previous flavours :( atmosphere and staff are amazing though!

Fabulous dumpling place with variety of fillings all of which are delicious. The dumplings are juicy, bursting with flavours, just like how they should be. The seating is quite cramped so ended up doing takeaways everytime.

We just recently discovered this place. The food is unreal ..damn fresh. The food is made super fresh, so ... This means there is a bit of a wait. Buy a couple of beers, take your jacket off and make yourself comfy. The staff were cool and friendly. I totally recommend eating here.

Very nice and authentic chinese food 6 dumplings for £5.50 And bao bans for £3.80 The taste is absolutely worth coming here for, very traditional chinese flavors The dumplings are also served in the traditional dimsum crates

Great staff, great food, fast service and a quick eat

This is the only and best steamed dumpling restaurant in Newcastle. Their slow cooked bun is ok, and steamed bun is average, but the steamed dumplings are definitely handmade and they stuffing is so tasty. Highly recommended shrimp and celery, the rarest and best flavor for sure. They also have some cold dish and I personally really like the potato slices and celery with dried tofu skin.

Top tier. 100% recommend the pork bao bun.

Lovely, very comfortable, delicious food and the interior design and plates (which looks like bamboo) are so thoughtful.

They got my order wrong and unfortunately I didn’t realise until I took it back home as it was takeout. I said specifically not the red bean paste rice cake, that I wanted the plain one, and checked with the lady at the till, but she still gave me the wrong order. I wasn’t going to go back to change the order as I’d have to do another trip back, but to just make you all aware I was surprised I got the wrong item after I had confirmed my order. :( the red bean one didn’t taste good.

Very small place but the food is delicious! They have a lot of vegan options, so you will definitely find the one for you!

Pretty addicted to their corgette tofu dumplings right now. Can be a little bit of a wait at peak times though so make sure you have a bit of spare time.

If you like dim sum and dumplings this is a good place to go. Food is reasonably priced but whole place is very small, so may not get a seat.

Nice enough place. Pork bun was still frozen in the middle and the dumplings are tasty but they look processed. Also 20p charge for soy sauce and vinegar in a tiny pot. All in all. Its OK but I wouldn't return.

A small dumpling house on a side street off Northumberland Street. Friendly staff, asked for suggestions which they were happy to provide. Food was delicious, bought more frozen Dumplings to take home. Only draw back really was my table. Metal seat, cold and uncomfortable as it was next to a wall of plants and the toilet. Water kept dripping onto my table and being so close to toilet was not nice.

Absolutely amazing bao and dumplings for next to nothing. 2 of us had 2 drinks each and a stack of food for less than 40 quid. Flawless, just go and enjoy.

Delicious and authentic. The meat fillings are tasty and fill the dumplings and bao. I ordered take away and my partner has finally tased something like the better restaurants have in China.

Come here all the time, discoved it just under a year again and since then I come here near enough every week or every 2 weeks. Beautiful interior, amazing food and lovely service. By far the best dumplings I've ever had in my life and I now have an obsession with them since discovering this place. However other restaurants seriously don't come close to how Little Dumpling house do their dumpling. By far the best.

The food is good, though expensive for what one gets and more variety might be nice. Service is prompt and efficient, when busy not enough places to sit.

Fantastic experience tonight. Staff were very friendly, dumplings were delicious - we shared three between us. Would highly recommend the chilli oil, it wasn’t too hot but had a delicious flavour to it. Will definitely be back.

Nice restaurant, freshly made food at a reasonable price but service was slow, the bao bun was hardly filled and the wrap lacked flavour. However perhaps most importantly the lamb dumplings were great! Enjoyable little lunch spot if you are in town

Excellent! Best place in Newcastle! My favorite is the mushroom burger 🥳 But I also love the pork dumplings! And they have Asahi beer… another favorite!! The owner makes everything feel good. It’s beautiful… a pleasure to eat in and relax.

A modern yet authentic take on dumplings and Bai. Very tasty, charming, relaxed city centre location. Dumplings are succulent and delightful. Do check out this excellent restaurant.

Decent steamed dumplings. Chicken and prawn dumplings recommend. I personally don't like the beef one but gf loves it because they are juicy. Baozi is ok but not so great. Very energetic owner, 5 star!

I’m a regular here the food is just so delicious and the atmosphere is so lovely , very chilled and nice staff.

The food is great had the prawn dumplings and a steamed bun, both were very nice. The staff are pleasant also.

Some of the best dumplings I've ever had! Highly recommend the pork stuffed baozi as well. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
