The Lawns Hotel in Derby

Nice little hotel, food was fantastic. stayed for a few weeks due to work, had no issues. Pretty central for a lot of things, more than enough shops etc near by.

Nice place for a drink, good service and friendly staff.

I had my 70th buffet there on a Saturday afternoon the room was lovely and relaxing the buffet was very good but the main thing was the staff they couldn't do enough and everyone said how polite they where .

Good pint But one of the managers is a bad impression on the place with poor social skills and lack of professionalism. Seems more like entering her living room rather than an established pub.

Arrived Sunday night in preparation for a friends funeral on Monday. Expected to have a few drinks and then a nice meal. We were advised on arrival that the restaurant was closed Sun evening, and we would have to make other arrangements. The rooms were very tired, old and in need of updating. Bathroom was not the cleanest, with no where to even place a toiletry bag. We went to nearby Hickory's for dinner, and on return we were advised the bar closed at 10pm. Now, this is a Hotel apparently. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. My advice....find somewhere else.

Fantastic staff, really helpful including keeping the restaurant open a few mins longer when I got stuck in traffic. But the hotel rooms were below what I expected for the money, a little tired, a few stains on bedding and pretty beat up bathroom. Food in the restaurant was also expensive for what it was.

Please anyone who reads this AVOID this place like the plague. Not even sure if this is a genuine hotel. Had the worst experience ever. Staff not available on phone. 21 calls. When we turned up the barman laughed and announced our rooms had been cancelled. The place looked dirty and unhygienic in my opinion and the one member of staff who we did see looked like personal hygiene was a serious issue. AVOID.

A colleague has arranged his leaving party there. It is a memorable time.

Absolutely spot on. Stayed here as attended a wedding locally. Staff could not have done anything more for us- from queries with booking, key collection, to service and to contacting me to let me know I'd left my wallet in the room. Really, really appreciate the fabulous service from all of the staff here before, and throughout our stay. Room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. Bar area was great, great beer selection and was nice and busy. Had the continental breakfast and it was 1st class. Loved the stay here. Perfect.Thanks so much for having us, and hope to stay again soon.

Just stayed here for two nights on a group on, had a nice welcome & a lovely presented cream tea with added fresh strawberries, we had a nice comfortable room with plenty of sockets :-), we found the staff very friendly very well mannered, we had four breakfasts in with the deal orange juice, cerial then a full English 2 sausage, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, grilled tomato, baked beans, mushrooms & plenty of toast & jam, the lady who served it couldn't have been more attentive better than a Hilton !!, all in all we had very nice stay indeed.

Need Moretti back as would sell way better than any of the current beer.

The walls in this place might as well be made of cardboard you can hear everything your neighbours are doing and the floors are very creaky so you also hear every footstep. Not good if you’re a light sleeper. The rooms are also very small with about 2ft of space around the bed. Overpriced for what you get

had a cracking family get together here a few weeks back. the beer flowed freely (at a charge of course) the atmos was decent and the ad hoc musician guy that tipped up was top dollar. the random homeless cigarette sponger was a down point but hardly the pubs fault. tippity toppity boozer.

Was great until I got a £60 parking fine for a pint!! Watch out for them cameras.. tho I think it's there dodgy software.. cos I know I entered my Reg.. N still got done!! Update- appealed and I've still got a fine, so I won't be going back, because a simple pint might cost you upto £100! Wot a joke!

Stopped 1 night for business, arrived and was greeted by by a lovely member of staff (Amelia) who made me feel at ease straight away explained the rules showed me to my room asked if I need help with luggage, couldn't be more helpful. She even printed me out a mini to do list of a holiday I was thinking about taking my family to in Malta very knowledgeable. Keep up the good work.

Changed a bit in 35 Years. Beer and Food OK, prices top end

Worst 'calamari' I've ever eaten. Tasted like what I imagine a years out of date onion ring fried in fish oil would taste like.

I stayed here mid week as I had a meeting the following day and it was in a convenient location. It did seem popular with fellow business people as I was woken at 6 by the sound of showers and people checking out 😞 This did blight an otherwise good stay over. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the carpark was secure which was why I booked as I was travelling by motorcycle.

Great local pub with friendly staff and good food and beer. Sometimes the ales are a bit 'off' but on recent visits they have been better at this so 5*

The hotel is located halfway between East Midlands Airport and the city of Derby. The structure has the rooms on the first floor, while on the ground floor there is a very nice and very busy pub, which is also used for breakfast in the morning (fortunately it respects silence after midnight!). The rooms are really nice, clean, bright and well equipped, maybe just a little small, but ok The staff was available for every request and information. The reception is inside the pub, and it can be a little difficult to reach it and communicate during the opening hours of the place.

Great local place. Russ the landlord is great as is Andy. Bar staff are friendly and efficient. Cocktail bar is an added bonus. All in all a great place with a great atmosphere

I stayed here for maybe an hour and a half, had 1 drink in the garden and was actually enjoying myself. Then a week later I receive a parking fine for parking in a "permit holder area" I was a customer at your pub and you fine me. There is no sign when you enter the building asking you to enter your reg. Car park was rammed so if there was a sign I didn't see it.

Yep, nice place. Lovely cooked breakfast in the morning. Nice quiet relaxing place to have a coffee in the afternoon. However, there is a noticeable IQ drop in the clientele as evening comes and gets a bit sweary!

It's OK, a reasonable budget hotel, OK for a couple of nights. Staff are friendly, the rooms clean and secure.
