This place deserves 5 stars, the drinks are made as soon as they are ordered, doesn't take too long to get them. Everything on the menu is great, I highly recommend the Nachos Sharer. Food always comes fresh and hot unlike other pubs where it comes out barely warm. The staff is great and very welcoming. If I would recommend anyone a pub it would be this one!! Will be coming back again.

Beer choice was poor, some of the food was ok, but the kebab’s were awful. Definitely will not be recommending and won’t be coming again.

Food was good when it eventually arrived, the wait was excessive considering they didn't appear very busy. To be fair ,I'd go again so long as I wasn't in a rush.

Like most branded pub restaurants, it's your typical go to when there's no appointments at a nicer place to visit, it's usually quiet here at this particular place but can get very busy during summer, especially when the football is on. Drinks are reasonably priced but again, cheaper to buy alcohol at the local shop and go home with it, you're basically paying for the spcial aspect with drinking in any social setting in any pub/restaurant. Food here is nothing special, run of the mill beer garden specials, not terrible but also nothing amazing. Kid friendly place with outdoor children play area, plenty of outdoor seating, next to a main road which only usually gets busy in the mornings so anything past 11am is usually fine. Free parking and plenty of parking spaces available. Would I visit here again, sure, it's like any pub restaurant in the country.

Be prepared to wait 50 mins for food. Knowing they had a party booking at the same time as us they could have warned of the long wait for food but because the place was not busy they needed our .custome. when food eventually arrived we were accused of shouting and asked if we wanted our food or not. Manager was very sarcastic and needs a refresher course in pub hospitality and management.

we had good expectations but were disappointed. several fries were rotten. black fries were so big that the chef could not notice. part of the salad was also rotten and smelly, in addition it was not washed from the packaging. If the chef had washed it, he would have seen that it had to be thrown away. the service at the bar also leaves much to be desired. I was corrected with the pronunciation of the name of the beer (I have a different accent), which is uncultured.

Lovely mango & passionfruit gin & pint . Lady who served us was helpful, smiley and chatty.

Good for a Marston's pub, if you know what I mean. Prices about in line with the rest of Derby. Their garden/outdoor area can be really pleasant for a couple of swift ones after work in the summer, but it can also be pretty meh depending on the time of day/traffic. Keep that in mind if you're looking for a beer in the sun.

I booked a table for 10 people for a mini graduation celebration meal/drinks. The manager was very accommodating. I popped in the night before to ask for help as I knew I’d struggle for time on the day. Not only did the staff put the large banners up for us, but there were a few helium balloons in our colours on the tables too :) the pub was clean, the food was amazing and the staff were so friendly! We gave some graduation memorabilia to the barman as it was soon to be his graduation too :) we had a lovely few hours playing games and spending final hours together before we parted ways for the future. I’m so grateful to the pub for making it so special for us with the little things. They honestly made more of an effort for us than the university. I live locally so I’ll be returning with my family very soon :) thanks you again! Emma Allez xx

What a lovely visit to a great pub! me and my husband went to the pub as a spontaneous visit, and what a great little place this is! i had the double cheeseburger and a medium wine, and my husband had the hunters chicken and a pint of neck oil. great price for what we had, and we will definitely return! 5 ⭐️

Wow! We had a great time tonight, much improved from previous visits. Food was great and we hardly had to wait. Staff were all happy and enjoying their jobs. We will be back soon to try more of the menu and see more of Handy Andys DIY skills. 😅

Came for a Sunday roast with the fam. Beef was lovely and tasty and the veg was cooked to perfection. Amazing drink deals too, 3 bulmers for a tenner! Staff made the visit extra special

Stopped here for Sunday tea. My husband had roast beef which was ok, after they had brought the wrong size meal out but then swapped it. My chilli was more like a watery soup and the tortilla chips mentioned on the menu were missing. My daughter had roast chicken, roast being the operative word, it was anhydrous. The only saving grace was her apple crumble. Not a good experience and will not be returning.

Had a Sunday lunchtime meal with family, including 2 young children. The food was tasty - I enjoyed my cowboy burger especially - and the outdoor seating with enclosed play area for the kids was great. Friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. Plenty of parking and a couple of vegan options on the menu, which helped some of my group. Would definitely go again

I recently visited the Jonty farmer and was amazed by how friendly and helpful the staff were. we had the pizza and fudge cake and was absolutely blown away by how delicious it was.

I went to the John Farmer today with my grandchildren and a friend we ordered lunch. The children had chips and fishfingers and peas. I couldn’t believe what was served to me. Wilted rocket that wasn’t fit to eat cold chicken, cold bacon on top cheese that look like it’s been sitting there for an hour and chips that were like brick. The kids peas they didn’t eat because they said they were hard, so I tried them and they were I ordered a bottle of water and I was given tapwater in a bottle I’d never go again. The food was absolutely disgraceful. I worked in catering for the best part of 18 years. I wouldn’t have even sent it out, poor poor food, shame on yourselves for even serving it never go again and people wonder why all the pubs are closing all this fast food rubbish you know get a cook Cook real food was real vegetables from your local farmer. Shame on the company nobody wants to eat that rubbish everywhere is fake food. Everybody’s tired of fake food serve some real food real chips that are made from guess what potato real food and put some vegetables and some salads and local dishes put pubs back to be in pubs rant over I just think people have forgotten what real food taste like and what it is because what was on them menus there’s no nutrients in that food, poor poor poor

Food was very nice, came out nice and Hot and was well cooked. The staff were lovely and very helpfull an all round very pleasent experience.

Called for lunch after a dog walk nearby. Small dog frinedly area. Had burgers which were very nice, just need a bit of salad garnish or something to finish them off.

I had steak n ale pie, chips and peas. Pie was very nice, much better than the last one I had there. They must have changed suppliers. My partner had fish n chips and said it was nice too.

Keeping to kosher rules and the lady that served me understood my dietary requirements which really surprised me. The veggie burger was better than I expected and overall a good experience

We ordered food at 1246. It arrived at 2:10pm. Food that was ordered after us was brought to the table before us. I had 2 young children with me. My youngest fell asleep by the time the food came. When I made a complaint, I was given some money back but no apology for this awful service. I emailed the pub to make a formal complaint and request that they have some support with how to deal with customer complaints. My response from the manager called me by the wrong name and just told me to phone. I have still not had an apology for this appalling service. If you would like food served on time do not go here.

Staff were incredibly friendly. We arrived as a group of 7 and had to leave early as our gameday bus arrived. Staff were extremely accommodating, giving us foil to take our food with us (arrived in around 15 minutes btw so very good wait time). Mega friendly and understanding, helped us out so much, food was delicious. Definitely be back next year when we play Derby😂

Management and bar staff were very friendly and helpful, I believe their names were Angela and Brooke who helped me (I might be wrong). Great atmosphere, although could do with a refurb. Highly recommend to anyone in the area :)

We went to the Jonty farmer today for my dad's birthday, the food was excellent and it came out very fast. Excellent service, really friendly team working there who made us feel very welcome and looked after. Ps. Highly recommend the rocky road sundee!

We wanted to try somewhere new that was relaxed but with a good atmosphere, good food and great drinks. The Jonty Farmer ticked all these boxes for us! We felt that there were a lovely mix of people enjoying their meals and we think it is perfect for couples, families, older people and young. My other half was happy as Cruzcampo was available which we haven’t seen in many other places. We had staters and mains, which we ordered at the bar. We noticed the app and the physical menu had 2 different options which we found strange, so we used the menu from our phones. Everything we ordered came just as we wanted, with added extras and taking off salad and sauce for fussy eaters. It came quickly and we were so happy with everything we had- so so delicious! The pizza oven is a massive bonus too! We loved everything and would most definitely eat here again- the staff were wonderful and helpful. My only wish was that the place had a makeover. One half looked as if it had been done up, whereas the restaurant area was old and tired and not the most tidy. Apart from that, it would be 10/10.

Myself and friends visited Tuesday evening, we had a meal and everyone was happy with their meals, the staff were very friendly and attentive. They have the board games available for us to use which is an amazing idea, we had so much fun. We will definitely be visiting again.

I didn’t like to make a scene but the kids burgers were all raw in the middle My hubby eats his steak rare so he ate them anyway but the kids had to have food when we got back My chicken was burnt too but again I just ate it to save the hassle Probably wouldn’t go again in all honesty 🙈

We have 4 children and when I asked for a quiet area of the pub for my reservation that we got, it was just away enough but not secluded. Our food came promptly and was hot. The food all was tasty and my children enjoyed their food that much they wanted desserts. All staff were welcoming and helpful when asking a few questions about the meals.

Went for sunday dinner had roast beef which was tough the meal was also lukewarm and swimming in gravy. Had to wait 40 minutes. My friend had pizza and whilst it was OK the chef came to cook it with a huge bushy beard hanging down with nothing covering it. Beard hair pizza anyone...???? Toilets stunk badly of urine. All the bar staff could was oh sorry. No one came to ask how the meal was so complained at the bar to be told to mention it when we next come in so it "can be sorted" No thanks. I think I'll give it a miss!!!

Recommend the Wednesday night pub quiz

Went for a Christmas dinner meal - our items were not described as on the menu which we pre-ordered a month in advance. Service was extremely slow, we ended up overstaying by 45 minutes from a 2 hour time slot, and the food quality and portion size was very poor throughout the three course meal and sides.

We came for Christmas dinner for a change, but had to wait 2 hours - despite booking and paying £200 (for three) in October. No sign of the management, they clearly were not interested in fronting up to the many disgruntled guests. When it finally came, the food was horrendous, and the most pathetic attempt at a Christmas dinner in living memory. Considering the £60 per head price tag, it was absolutely shocking. Don’t bother “reaching out” - it’s too late, our Christmas was ruined. Needless to say, even though we live a few hundred meters away, we have no intention ever to return.

Boxing Day Waited a hour for starters kept asking where they was … mains was vile cold and raw took one meal away to change didn’t even bring it back out so went with out a main veg vile Yorkshire was pure oil puddings was the best!! Even the toilets was dirty!! We Go every year can sure to say we won’t be going again

I had chance my starter because you sold out of one I order all veg on my main was raw and not cook and waiting till 4pm get our starter then other hour for our main then at 6pm got our pudding only thing was nice was the pudding me and my friends won't be coming again

Wanted to give the staff a HUGE thank you for providing a meal I could eat. I recently had a baby who is breastfed but unfortunately has a cow milk protein and soy protein allergy. These are not easy things to avoid. We were having a family Christmas meal and the team were lovely on sorting out a meal that was safe from cross contamination. Thank you!

Christmas meal. There were 13 of us booked in and all pre ordered. Table booked for 12.00. After a few queries about the length of waiting time, the starters came out after a 40 min wait. My starter was mushrooms in cheese and ale sauce on toasted baguette. The baguette was lightly toasted at one end, the "sauce" was a very thin tasteless liquid about a tablespoon surrounded by a few luke warm (looked and tasted like tinned mushrooms) Asked for butter but only flora available. My friend had pate which consisted of a roll of pate, a teasp of chutney, green leaves and 2 tiny pieces of white bread, no butter..not toasted either. Those that didn't have starters waited 1hr 20mins for mains....again we had to keep asking where the food was. I had turkey.....looked like the plate had been under a lamp for a long time...dried up turkey with dried up gravy, dried up carrots and parsnip slices, pale looking "roast" potatoes (looked like boiled potatoes with a squirt of oil) but the worst thing was the broccoli which was completely burnt!? 'Shall I get you some more broccoli?' at which point I just said no thank you, just take the meal away as I just had had enough. I have to mention Cassie who did her absolute best to sort things out but it was not her fault that clearly who ever was working/cooking in the kitchen did not have one clue how to cook or present hot decent meals. Cassie prepared the desserts which were fine. All in all a very bad experience, will most definitely never go there again to eat and would not recommend. The 1 star is for Cassie and the young lad behind the bar.

Very poor hygiene food was so poor staff were scruffy place was not very clean chairs needed renewing as carpets as well needs a total overhaul.
