Best salt and chilli chicken , curry sauce is nice and not too spicy. Don’t know how it’s only got 3 stars it’s the best in East Kilbride!

Not just the usual shredded lettuce, bit of tomato and cucumber, it has onions, peppers and pineapple too! Consistently delish. Salt and chilli chicken great, pretty much have never been disappointed with any dish.

Ordered takeaway here and food looked great service and collection time was spot on but my got the salt and chilli fries had so much salt or msg on them you felt it burning the inside of your mouth,and to that spoiled all the other food we ordered as all u could taste was salt!!also the chicken was verging on the pink side in the satay skewers but to note the chicken curry was not the worse,again spoiled by the taste of the chips I had previously,,real shame,,maybe just watch am what you order,,as for me it spoiled the meal would like to say better luck next time but there will not be a next time……….

Ridiculous, 3rd wk out of 4! And again it’s been over a 2.5hr wait to then receive lukewarm food 🤦🏻‍♀️ then they offend me with a discount on my next order?? Like I’m coming back?? What’s wrong with your Just Eat orders? I’ll also be reporting you to them for this! Your delivery without just eat was just over an hour 😣 tut tut! How many people have been experiencing this lately? So many we can’t even leave a google review because they have “switched it off” 🤨 Gave them a chance to redeem themselves to their weekly/monthly local customers but again.... hours for a takeaway that’s gone down the hill! I had to laugh when your driver re-chapped my door as he had been given a euro (my bad apaologies) now imagine I opened the door, took the food and said 😣 “sorry it’s cold” and then binned it infront of his face 🤷🏻‍♂️ Without paying.... It annoys me that you are ruining peoples weekends nowadays and don’t even even care and just expect them to keep coming back.... SHOCKING ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING!! Cold foot uneaten... TERRIBLE! Reporting them to Enviro also.... you can’t sell people undercooked FOOD!!!

Ordered a takeaway as a treat for my sons birthday through the just eat app. After initially being informed that my order would take approximately 1hr 20 mins, I wan disappointed when my meal still hadn’t arrived half an hour later. When I phoned the restaurant to enquire I was told it was currently with the driver. Another 30 minutes later and I still hadn’t received it - I live just a 5 minute drive away. 3 hours after initially placing my order I ended up cancelling. Not the best of ways to end my sons birthday!

This used to be the go-to place for Chinese carry out but lost its way for a while. I decided to try it again (after about 5 years) and must say it is very good. The portion of ribs was large, tasty and more meat than I had expected - great value for money. The chicken satay was spicier than most other places and very nice indeed. Delivery time was good - better than most. I'l certainly try this place again.

Had a takeaway from lantern tonight got to say it was the worst Chinese I’ve had in a longtime very surprised as food from here is generally very good

We had to fling out practically the whole meal, chicken And sweet corn soup tasted of sugar, Our chicken dishes tasted slimy, and our chips were dried out.The salt and chilli chicken was like rubber...Hugely disappointed.

The Lantern one of only a couple of Chinese restaurants that continue to open & trade on Christmas night for those of us who crave a Christmas night curry. That other restaurant being The Curry House. Years ago, pretty much every Chinese restaurant/takeaway opened at least for a few hours, but year on year the number who continue to trade goes down which is a pity. I ordered a breast of chicken curry chopped without onions, fried rice, prawn crackers, chips & an extra curry sauce at a cost of £14.20. Delivery on Christmas night from The Lantern was £4 so I opted to go pick my meal up myself. My meal considering it was Christmas night was very good indeed. My only criticism & it is only slight, is the salt within the curry sauce could be doing with being reduced. The sauce was just a touch too salty, but overall a very enjoyable meal. Thanks goes to the hardworking staff at The Lantern this Christmas night for opening & providing an alternative to the traditional Christmas dinner when many other local Chinese takeaways opted to stay closed. At this rate you'll soon be the only Chinese restaurant/takeaway to open on future Christmas Days. Keep up the good work!

Oh dear what has happened here. Have been using this take away for years and always enjoyed the food but not the last time and certainly not tonight. Got the sweet and sour chicken and you could not eat it as it was so tuff and salty. Even the dog would not entertain it but I was glad as there was so much salt in it. The sauce was crap as well. Will not be back a total rip off. The only reason for one star is you cannot give none

Worth a try, I have had the chicken Rolls and Beef pasta and both where great! Usually have the chicken fried rice but it's a little salty recently. Like how now they've put about Allergies more noticable once asked about found out the chicken nuggets are Gluten Free so there is a large opition for people which is good

This used to be our regular takeaway. However, I've no idea what or where they're getting there chicken and beef - it's disgusting! The chicken is slimy, chewy and pale ! Similar to the beef. Shame as was it used to be ok. Wok This Way ( which I believe is owned by them ) is the same . 😝

This is the best Chinese I have ever been to, I know of friend and family who live outside of east kilbride that go to the lantern even though they have a Chinese that is closer to them

Ordered chicken fried rice... it was like eating a bowl of salt !!!! Seriously the worst standard of takeaway ever .... the chicken was totally dried through arghhh

Have used subject take away a few times , however, found it to be expensive yet nothing special . I am a particular fan of Char Sui , so ordered same from Lantern , just eh Awful , thick chunks of pork covered in yip Gravy ahhhhh do they just make it up as they go along . To many chinese to choose from in EK so I personally would try elsewhere .

Phoned an order at 9pm and after an hour called to check where it was. Little girl on the phone said it would be about 15 mins. Called back , after waiting almost 2 hours to be told we don't have a delivery for you . Absolutely shocking !!!!! She obviously didn't put the order through and was trying to cover her self. So can't give rating on food but if this kind of service is anything to go by I can safely say I won't be calling again. Don't call this place if your hungry

Always go and pick up my food as I only stay 2 minutes away. However being settled I decided to get home delivered. 1hr 30min later it arrived cold and soggy even walker's couldn't have made these chicken balls crispy!!!! Phoned to complain and the girl that answered would not let me speak to someone in charge as she was to busy £25 straight into a blackbag which is a shame cause I respected lantern and I'm sure owner would be shocked at his staff

Stinking! Chips were raw and chicken balls were soggy. Curry was just pure salt. Disappointed. Phoned and phoned but couldn't get through to complain.

Great portion sizes and foot tastes great delivery time is also usually very quick even at peak weekend times

My partner ordered via just eat a delivery to her work, ordered a chicken satay, delivery within timescales however much to her horror once plating up her meal she discovered am moth cooked with the container, she called restaurant back to advise of her additional ingredient only to be told they'd refund the satay but she and her colleagues would have to pay for their meals, which given this circumstances they'd obviously lost their appetite, driver came to pick up food no apology at all, my partner had to call justeat send them the pictures and they agreed to refund full £30 meal, Avoid!!! Was my favourite take away when I lived in EK and I still travel from England to Scotland and pop in when I can for a Satay Fantastic!!!

I have never been to the restaurant and sat in and have a meal but I order from here like twice a week the best Chinese takeaway in East Kilbride I love the hot chicken or beef curry it taste amazing and I recommend the salt and pepper chips they taste fantastic

My parents like the Chow Mein here so I've had to suffer it a few times for them. I hate it though. Everything tastes of little more than salt, chicken always dry, stodgy reheated rice and the worst Satay I have ever tasted. Really bore no resemblance to any Satay or other food I have had anywhere else. Only chicken fried rice my kids refuse to eat cause it was so dry.Shocking place, to be avoided at all costs!

I am in here for a meal at least 2 times a week. I genuinely like everything but the satay, hot curry and ch fried rice dry are my top 3.It's a really busy shop tucked in a far corner of EK so delivery times can be longer than other shops but the food will always be hot and fresher then other places.Open from 4;30-12/12:30

The food is delicious! And the staff are extremely helpful, catering around my friends allergies! Great value for money and always comes fast compared to the other take aways in EK. Wouldn't go to any other Chinese! ☺️

Can always count on the lantern for a good meal. The chicken is so tender and soft and really beast meat the curry sauce is spicy but never too spicy. The onions in the curry are the best part always crunchy just the way I like it. Highly recommend this Chinese best in Ek by far!!

Really good, has improved over the yrs . Kung po , salt & chilli chicken , garlic & fresh chillies and broccoli & spring onion are excellent.

I used to enjoy a chicken curry from The Lantern & had become a semi regular customer.Like all takeaway restaurants, I'm of the opinion that while there is no denying they can all be good on their night, they also hit bad spells where they just can't make a decent meal.I'm afraid The Lantern has hit rock bottom on quality of food.I ordered a breast of chicken curry chopped, large fried rice, curry sauce & prawn crackers.The breast of chicken, well the quality of chicken has plummeted. It used to be so so good, but my last takeaway order, the breast of chicken had a very weird cheap slimy rubbery texture. It certainly wasn't a good quality chicken breast, profit has been prioritised over quality by the owners of The Lantern.Fried rice was extremely salty & the curry sauce was devoid of any flavour. The quantities of the the individual elements of the meal were fine, it's the quality & attention to detail that's now missing.Add to the fact the owners have recently increased the prices & it's no longer value for money.My order above cost £11.30 from The Lantern after their price increases. To put it in perspective. I can order the same meal from The Curry House in East Kilbride's Village for £9.90.Now when The Curry House can offer around same size portions, better quality & with a saving of £1.40 per meal, then it's a no brainer. Especially if like myself you order Chinese a couple of times a week.It's a shame, The Lantern used to be so good, but if it carries on with the decreasing quality & rising prices, they will find themselves losing customers. As it stands, other Chinese takeaway in the area just now offer better quality & better value.My advice to The Lantern. Raise your game not your prices.

I have had 2 take aways here in the past year. The first was a Satay which I would never describe as a Satay. Don't know what it was meant to be but was nothing like any other I have ever tasted & was not nice.More recently I gave it another go because I was in the area, in a rush & hungry.. This time I ordered a Chow Mein... Really was just chicken, noodles and what seemed like wet salt. Really couldn't eat anything after 2 mouth fulls. No flavour except salt. Will never go there again and would advise anyone else to avoid it.
