couldn't eat the main course. tasted like I just had a plate of salt in front of me. without doubt the worst meal I have ever sat down to. Inedible.

First time getting food from here and it's the last I ordered chicken balls fried rice and sweet and sour sauce..all mixed in together no sauce on the soggy chicken balls just poured in the rice worst I've had

Food is generic, frozen then reheated chicken. Wings are rubber like and over powered with poorly, watered down seasoning. Curry as bland and chicken again, evidently chocked as bought. Very poor.

Used this place for years until about 2 year ago when it went downhill a bit so we stopped ordering.Decided to try again after not finding any other decent one’s in EK & I must say we’re all so glad we did.Girl was very well mannered on phone as was delivery driver.Portion sizes are absolutely huge now.My 26 year old son could only manage half a portion of chips,chicken balls,fried rice & curry sauce which was so delicious.Curry sauce tastes wayyyy better than before & the chicken balls were soooo good too.He’s also fussy so was good to hear he even gave the food a 10/10.We got succulent barbecue spare ribs & wasn’t an issue when I asked for extra sliced lemon with them.Special fried rice was lovely too & again portion sizes are very large now.That was the BEST one we’ve ever had from there & will definitely become a regular again.Good to see yahs back on top guys & tyvm 👌👍🏻

Food was okay, salt and pepper chicken looked like chips instead of chicken and was covered in garlic. Very overpowering. Rice wasn’t the best and hard.

Foods always warm when collected portion size is good compared to others and staff are polite.

We got the munchie box - loved it. And chips on the side the sauce was great, if your not someone who picks sauce they’ll select it for you and don’t be big headed, 😁it’s great

Another order from the best Chinese takeaway in East Kilbride & on Just Eat. I ordered Salt & Chilli Pepper Chicken, Large Fried Rice, x2 Curry Sauce & S Plain Omelette. As always the food arrived early & piping hot. Food was absolutely outstanding & the portions were massive. The Chef at The Lantern really has those Salt & Chilli Pepper dishes down to a fine art. Normally enjoy food from The Lantern and have ordered a few times. Last night however, I discovered a small dead fly in my curry. Hoping JustEast sort out a refund but unlikely I'll order again. Realise it's one of those things that can happen and it was just this once but still, a bit gross.

chicken in the chicken fried rice was burnt and disgusting tasting. rice was undercooked and laiden with soy sauce not cooked through wasn't edible at all. I've been ordering from here for a wee while now but I won't be back.

Top marks for the chicken udon noodles with chilli and garlic - a really spicy mix of Japanese, Cantonese and Sichuan style! Never had anything quite like it, best Chinese food I've had from a regular takeaway in years.

my deliveries keep going missing and being delivered to the wrong address because just eat has my address and postcode listed wrongly on the map. the map goes to 29 Falkland drive on the pin point and I cannot edit where the destination shows after I've entered my correct postcode. just eat need to sort it out I've had to have so many refunds for undelivered food or things left up the street on doorsteps of uninhabited homes. it's insane. posting this for JE. the restaurant itself is lovely.

Had a fantastic special chow mein from here tonight...great flavour, the meats cooked to perfection and the sauce was amazing...delivery was really quick considering i live quite a bit away. The girl who took my order on the phone was well mannered and friendly...highly recommend this place

EXCELLENT 10/10 everything was (fresh) everything that I required a certain way done in each part of the order, they very carefully carried out to my instructions which is important! so overall, I was very pleased with whole experience.

Saltiest food I've ever tasted was ridiculous ruined nearly everything. Taste the food when you are making it there is no way any chef would think it was acceptable seasoning levels. Would have actually tasted nice if it wasn't salted to death.

Everything the phone rings nobody answers then when you try and ring back its busy no way to run a business

Food was great however the rudest delivery driver I've ever come across. He didn't ring the door bell or chap the door but sat outside in his car the restaurant then had to phone me to let me know my order was there. He then stormed in the garden moaning he had been waiting for 10 minutes....sorry my psychic powers weren't working! He then stormed out slamming the gate off the wall & leaving it wide open before getting in his car and driving off at speed along a residential street.

The BEST crispy shredded chilli chicken EVER. I've been ordering it from here for over 18yrs and it's amazing. Tried it everywhere else and it just doesn't compare. Service is fine and prices reasonable.

The chef has never tasted beef Cantonese because that was not it. £8.30 It was hot spicy burn your tongue. That was not beef Cantonese. I have tasted many some that actually the real deal and some of them are weaker version that wasn’t even in the park. Shameful. The fried rice was beautiful

Went out on a whim and decided to order from somewhere new. Never again. Ordered chicken curry, chips, fried rice and prawn crackers. The side dishes were the best part. The curry was like dirty water, tasted very bland and the chicken was rubbery. Me and the girlfriend were highly disappointed.

Ordered the 'Hot' curry as the normal one doesn't have much heat at all. Jeezo....hate to think what the Extra Hot is like. Had to scrape most of the sauce off the chicken to eat it. That was a challenge, lol. You could maybe do with a middle ground (maybe a Medium Hot or just don't make the Hot so hot). Good quality food as always though.

Ordered a Salt & Chilli Munchy Box between the two of us, it was very spicy and there was so much there we didn't manage to finish the box. The delivery came within seconds of the time we were given. Enjoyed The Lantern.

Just to let a few of you know that are asking. The best Chinese takeaway in East Kilbride & on Just Eat, that's right the Kings 👑 at The Lantern Chinese Takeaway will be reopening on April 18th 2024. They were having a few weeks off to give the staff a well deserved break. As much as I'm missing the Salt & Chilli Pepper Chicken Fried Rice & Curry Sauce, I'm sure after the Chefs have recharged their batteries, that The Lantern will be back better than ever! Roll on April 18th 2024 for The Lantern Chinese Takeaway has certainly been missed.

Was genuinely gutted about my order being what I would say was awful quality for the price everything in the munchie box was ethier soggy at the bottom or dry at the top the it’s piled high in a metal container that might be better served in. Pizza box to let the food breath ?. Not even sure how it’s possible but the container was hotter than the contents like it been blasted it some kind of heater for 30 seconds

Salt & Chilli Pepper Chicken Fried Rice was as usual, absolutely superb! 🔥🔥🔥 The Ham Fried Rice was perfection & the two Curry Sauces were delicious. Not the spiciest Curry Sauce but it is beautiful. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. It never does. The chef at The Lantern has that dish down to a fine art. I also ordered a Plain Omelette & a Portion of Curry Sauce. Plain Omelette was absolute perfection. Chips beautiful. In fact, the best chips from a Chinese I've had for a while. Curry Sauce lovely as well. I just wish there was an option to add a Large Curry Sauce in one of the big plastic containers but it's a small issue. Surprised at The Lantern as the food is normally really good. The Crispy Shredded Chilli Chicken was awful! Tough soggy chicken, not fresh or crispy in a sickenly sweet sauce. Just a soggy inedible mess.

I ordered in the lantern many times already and months ago the food was delicious but recently ordered a few times as well and I couldn’t finish it, terrible food quality and taste. They used to be so good!!!! Its a shame

foot tastes funky, almost out of date… chicken balls were stale and soggy.

As always the food from here is never disappointing. However this time the salt and chilli chips weren't cooked enough. Always nicer to have them crispy. Having said that the flavour to the chips were great. I can never fault the satay or curry I usually have either. I do get free prawn crackers with my orders which is a lovely gesture most other Chinese does not do this.

Well the duck was not shredded which it is when your in the restaurant so not very chuffed

Food was just awful, didn’t even take out of the containers as the smell was so bad, meat looked grey. Would avoid ordering at all costs. Woman on the phone was lovely and really helpful and offered to refund the food as I said it could be collected but the manager came on the phone refused to refund as said it’s up to just eat. Also wouldn’t order again due to how she poor woman was spoken to.

Standards have dropped dramatically over the last year. I've been using The Lantern for at least 20 years. Alot of my friends who regularly used the Lantern have changed their choice of where to get a chinese. When you use somewhere on a regular basis occassionly you get the odd rubbish one. But with the Lantern it's almost every time. I get a special fried rice at least once a week. Last one I got wasn't great. Not sure what's happening with the staff. It's definitely not as goud as it used to be. I think because they have a regular clientele they think they can get away with it. There's plenty of better chinese options in East Kilbride now. Shame, myself and 7 - 8 other people I know are now ordering elsewhere.

Whole meal was disappointing. Very dry and the rice had an awfully odd taste. 5 of us eating and everyone felt the same and feel rather queasy. Will not be using again. Would request a refund if I thought it would be acknowledged
