Cathay Cuisine in South Lanarkshire

Chips were poor quality ,like cardboard. Salt n chilli chicken was dried out badly.Chicken curry was ok , but that should be a given. Nothing seemed freshly made. I won't buy from again.

The sweet and sour chicken was absolutely disgusting,the chicken was over cooked and stringy which caught in your teeth nothing fresh about it,has put me off ever getting a Chinese carryout.

Ordered a take away from here and the lady on the phone taking the order was very rude with regards to payment. Wasn’t any better when I went into the shop, very bad attitude. Got home and my meal had every veg in it that I had asked not to have. I called to ask if I could have it replaced l, again met with a very horrible attitude however the wee manager lady spoke up in the back ground and helped sort it. Wouldn’t go back after the poor customer service I got.

Honestly, it was the worst meal I've had in a long time. Used to order from here regularly but 'll never order here again. Absolutely tasteless. Full of salt. Onions tasted off. Chips were reheats. Curry sauce was dark salty and tasteless. Went in the bin.

It was a home delivery I ordered was beautiful well worth the money delivery was quick too

My wife always gets me a main meal onion curry. Tonight onion curry as I always enjoy. To my surprise onion curry was in a stupid wee soup pot. I asked my wife had she went else where. She said no lovely lady knows what she wants and ordered it. If that's what they now serve as a main meal forget that I'd advise to avoid. No value for money and not filling in the least. Wife making me cheese and toast as I write this xxx. Cathy cusine have never been like this. Even when it had the restaurant. Guess it's time to get value for money and move on

The Lady that answers the phone and takes ur order, is a very, very pleasant person.... The foods good as well, which helps🤔

Order from Cathy cuisine at least once a week, The food is always extremely tasty, I would highly recommend there munch box I’ve tried a few others in East Kilbride and this is by far the best value for money, The girls on the end of the phone are extremely friendly and you always get a laugh if you go in and collect, Recently I must say I think the portion sizes have got bigger (I’m not complaining, Best Chinese in EK

Ordered sat night food was luke warm , trays half fill and prawn crackers in crumbs. Terrible meal will not be back this place has gone right downhill

Dreadful sweet and sour (tasted of motor oil!), gloopy and overly sweet satay chicken and horrid rice. But the woman who took the order was really lovely.

Been a regular customer of Cathay Cuisine for many years now & the food is absolutely excellent...wouldn't order chinese food from anywhere else in EK. Always used it when it was a restaurant (shame that closed) & still use their takeaway service. Can't comment on delivery service as I always order & collect. Food is always amazing, hot & ready for collection at agreed time. Never had any issues.

Love this Chinese Takeaway. Friendly staff, amazing food, and very reasonably priced. If you've not tried it, please do, you will not be disappointed. It's cash only in the shop, however if you order over the phone you can pay by card.

Always went here for food went tonight salt and chilli chicken was dry tiny strip of chicken that were solid think time to give it a miss

Was the best Chinese sack the chief or change supplier very very poor. Once the best small restaurant on the planet we all know why it's gone. However it is missed mist so so much. Doesn't even open at lunch time now !! The adults need food at lunch time too Have you all gave up?

My stomach thinks my throat has been cut!! Thought we’d try getting a lovely family meal delivered, which at 2 1/2 hours later, still isn’t here - One of my sons gave up and ordered a pizza as he is now an hour late for meeting friends - the other son has rearranged for his girlfriend to come here after her shift finishes at 9pm. Would love to tell you what kind of nick the food is in - which shouldn’t be great if what I was told 40 minutes ago is true - that it is out with the driver. Tick tick tick - writing this live. Okay so it did arrive whilst they were on the phone explaining that what we had been told was a ‘mistake’ and they had freshly made it and we could get a fiver off - the driver then said it was his fault because he forgot it was in his car?? It was cold (definitely not freshly made) but edible after a blast in the microwave. Thankfully our sons girlfriend turned up with freshly made chicken wings from Nando’s, so we abandoned the £36 waste of time and money (this is after the £5 discount). Take from this what you will, it’s only a transcript of our Saturday night, wasted.

First time ordering, defo be back for more, chicken curry was delicious, hot in fact best curry I have had, hubby's chicken fried rice perfect too. Looking to try a new Chinese, you won't be disappointed.

Outstanding. Got my first order this evening. Food was delicious and generous portions beautifully presented. Prawn toasts were truly crunchy...as they should be! I'll be back. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Good food and reasonable prices, free prawn crackers over £13(i think)

I ordered a meal this evening after moving back to EK after a few years away. This was my favourite place to get a meal from but tonight has made sure that I never order from where again. The rice, was a clump, not fluffy or falling apart and had to try cut it to separate it with a fork. The curry tasted nothing at all like it did a few years ago and to be honest, it will go down as the worst curry I’ve had in many years. The food was not hot, even though I waited over an hour for the delivery, calling the restaurant to be told my food ‘has jus this second come out of the Kitchen and would be with me very soon’. I don’t know whose kitchen it just came out of because it arrived cold. The chow mien (which I told friends was the best in EK) hence why we ordered from the Cathay tonight, I now have to retract my comment of them being the best because I can hand on heart say I will NEVER place another order from here. The noodles were cold, there was absolutely no sauce at all and it was bone dry, which isn’t appetising at all. Whatever had happened over the last two + years, things have gone down hill extremely fast! It has gone from one of the best places to rest to (IMO) one of the worst! The food is ver y poor and it is evident that the kitchen staff must have changed because you would be guaranteed a delicious meal a few years ago but now I would not advice anyone to use them because the food is just not worth the money they change. Avoid if you want to enjoy a decent meal with family and friends, because you will be nothing but disappointed.

Usually very good as we use at least twice a month, tonight food was very cold yet not long arriving, asked for a large fried rice because the curry does me 2 meals yet only a small turned up and even that wasn’t full, it’s not like them hopefully just a bad night.

Curry sauce us great. Salt & Chilli Wings are fantastic

Our favourite takeaway food from Csthay Cuisine, it's reliable (been there over 20 years), with friendly staff, fair prices and tasty food. Great, would recommend.

I ordered from this place at Christmas and the service was terrible as it took over three hours to deliver, however I had heard good things since then and thought it may be a one off so we decided to try again. What a mistake!!! We ordered a meal for two at 6:25pm and at 9pm we are still waiting?? We were told the food would arrive at 8pm which we decided at the time was acceptable but now it is bordering on ridiculous! At 8pm we were told it was out for delivery, if this is true (which I doubt) then surely the food is going to arrive stone cold. Don’t waste your time with this one, it never fails to disappoint!!!

Food came in good time, reasonable price and food was excellent! Happy with the service and will order again.

When you phone at 17.50 with a standard order and you are told could take up to 2 hours you accept it, over 3 hours later still no chap at door you think thank god didn't pay for dinner when ordered, good luck to anyone who ordered later than us and paid, appreciate current situation but why take orders if can't provide service.

I Called regarding over salted food. We order the same thing regularly and usually enjoy it however this time it was so salty I couldn’t even eat it... I felt physically sick, when I called regarding how salty it was I was shouted at with a very aggressive manner and told I was wrong... never will I eat here again nor would I recommend to anyone else! Customer service skills were disgusting

Value for money and a great curry.

The food is delicious, my favorite hot sour soup, Singapore fried rice.my family loves it.

Used to do the best satay and crispy duck but the last 5 or 6 times we have ordered it's been really poor. Don't be ordering again unfortunately.

Been going here for years. Granted its the weekend but the girl who answered never said how late it would be..2 and a half hours!! No discount..no freebies..no apology. When i called to query, it hadnt even left and there's a run before mine, did i still want it? Well ive waited this long and you've taken my payment!!!! Disappointed..I'll stick to my mid week takeaways...service is MUCH better then.

Food very good and staff very helpful

Ordered a carry out of 4 main courses at 5pm sharp on Xmas Eve for my family. Now don’t get me wrong I know eating places are busy at this time of year and for a home delivery you expect to wait. But after 2 hours and still no sign of food we, rather hungrily, phoned to chase it up. We were told it wasn’t in the kitchen yet ( after 2 hours!) but it would be ready in 15 mins. Yippee food! We waited, and waited and waited...... It got that bad we looked at walking to another place and just waiting and walking home! Eventually 3 hours ( yes no typo 3 full hours!) a knock and the door from the delivery driver. Not a word of apology or even any sign of even a free portion of prawn crackers for the unacceptable delay. I just told the driver I refused to pay and just take it back. I was furious with the delay. A once great eating place where I had many a good night in the once brilliant restaurant. I can honestly say I will never order from this place again. 3 hours is bad enough but don’t lie to me and say it will be ready in 15 mins when it was over another hour.

Have used this place before and the food is good however we ordered our food at half 6 tonight and were told that it would arrive at 8pm due to it being Christmas Eve which we found to be understandable. At 8:15pm we called to ask when our food would arrive which is when we were told our order hadn’t even went in to the kitchen. I informed them this wasn’t acceptable as this would be a significantly longer than originally told but was met with a “tough, it is what it is” attitude. The food finally arrived at 21:10pm which was nearly 3hours from order to delivery which is ridiculous regardless of the time of year. I asked if there would be some sort of refund or saving and I was told no because everyone was having the same problem?????? Really?? Because they had made a mess of everyone’s order we were told there would be no refund or even portion of chips ffs, not even an apology? Absolutely pathetic!! Will never use them again after this

Ordered twice now in 2 weeks and trice rice is sticky and stodgy, our fav peking spare ribs tastes and cold. Chicken breast curry was given to our dogs what’s going on guys ordered from you fir years food never this bland.

Visited Cathay Cuisine in East Kilbride village on Wednesday December 4th 2019. It had been on my mind to give Cathay Cuisine another try after receiving a new menu through the post the previous month. I walked in & browsed through the menu whilst the lady at the counter waited. I ordered a Breast Of Chicken Curry chipped with no onions & to be made extra hot. Portion of Fried Rice which I asked to be made large & an extra portion of Curry sauce. The changes I requested were absolutely no trouble for the lady working the counter & were done with no trouble at all. About 10 minutes later, I received my order piping hot & set off home to plate it up. Upon getting home, some of the curry sauce had leaked all over the bag & made a bit of a mess. I then remembered why I don't use Cathay Cuisine as often as I would like. It's absolutely nothing to do with the food quality. It's a minor gripe, in that they use a clear plastic lid on top of the foil containers which always has a tendency to cause stuff to leak. Why they can't just put a white cardboard lid on top like all the other Chinese takeaways I don't know. Anyway after a major clean up & salvaging my dinner, I plated it up & I have to say, it was absolutely delicious. Tender soft Chicken Breast, a reasonable spice to the Curry sauce & fresh Fried Rice. I even managed to save some for dinner the next day. Thoroughly enjoyed my Cathay Cuisine Curry despite my problem with them using those clear plastic lids. Great food, great staff & well worth a visit if you are visiting East Kilbride Village. Highly recommended.

Food usually good, but lately delivery taking a bit longer. I think this is because it's became very popular at the weekends.

Haven’t been here for years but as our usual takeaway was closed for refurbishment, so we went back here Food was horrendous, the inky thing we ate were the chips & prawn crackers Special fried rice was stodgy, prawns tasted rubbery and slightly off, ribs were cut into way too many pieces little meat more bone than anything Placing order & picking up was a melee Would not go back again

Ordered at 6.30pm and it's now 8pm and still not arrived. Wouldn't have minded too much if my partner had not have to leave for Nightshift on an empty stomach. Called half an hour ago to be told the driver was just leaving. No apology and different girl from previously with no empathy at all. Just set our expectations and ask people on phone to be a bit nicer. I have to say service is usually great and food is lovely. Don't know bout food yet as it's now after 8 and still not here

Quite like Cathay cuisine. They do a good meal deal for 1, which is reasonably priced, and the quality is always pretty good too. They also always listen if you request a change. One of the better Chinese takeaways in EK.

Ordered halve duck and pancakes with the usual hoi sin sauce was cold,also noodles dry,and rice very bland,also ordered ribs and portions was very small,it cost £38.00,the icing on the cake was the women on reception,slagging off the place to the delivery driver saying I wonder how may wrong orders tonight then,but have to say the ribs were very nice,but as you know when other things aren't it spoiles your whole meal.

We always have our take away dinners from here. The food tastes so good and the portions are massive. Always ready on time even when they are busy and excellent value for money. Its got to be THE place to go for a good Chinese meal to take away. So good!!

Ordered combination satay and beef curry extra hot. Both were delicious. The best satay sauce I have tasted. My husband likes his curry hot so the extra hot curry sauce always hits the spot for him. Quick delivery and friendly delivery drivers. You must try this takeaway.
