The Lalbagh in South Ribble

The most expensive Indian takeaway I’ve ever come across so was hoping for good things. Sadly very disappointed having paid just over £30 for a mere 2 main courses, 2 popadoms and chutneys and 1 Nan bread (I did question the price upon paying thinking they’d given me a wrong order but was abruptly told it was correct with no offer to double check they’d done the correct additions). Both main curry dishes were totally lacking any flavour or seasoning whatsoever. No acknowledgement neither from a single staff member upon entering to collect my order which I find rude beyond belief especially given I was first in line at the counter and waited a good few minutes before anyone made eye contact or attempted to speak. First and last visit without question sadly

After a hard days work I thought I’d treat myself and my wife to a nice Indian takeaway. I ordered the mix kebab starter each and a chicken tikka masala to share with a keema naan bread. My mouth was watering at the thought of the nice meal, it soon dried up when I saw what was in front of me. The starter seemed squashed and was cold, the sheesh kebab was so salty it was inedible, when I open the main meal MY GOD WHAT IS THIS CRAP!!!! Not only salty but so much tomato it was bloody rubbish. Now I’ve been there before and eaten decent food, but this garbage should not have been sent out, and as people who use this place will know it is not the cheapest. 30 quid wasted. Now I did private message the lalbagh to give them chance to respond to my complaint but they never did. Little India for me next time

The mixed Kabab was a samosas and a burnt onion bhaji with a shami kebab. The Biriani was very watery with water collecting on the plate and you struggled to find any meat in it. Not worth any money especially what they were charging! It is on the bin!!

Food awful mixed kebab was a shami kebab, samosa and bhaji. Mixed biriyani only had 5 pieces of meat. The curry sauce had a layer of water when it settled. Worst Indian I have ever had

Thought we would try “The Best Indian takeaway in Penwortham” instead of going to our usual one in Tarleton, as Lalbagh is about 5 mins nearer. Mistake! The naan bread was smaller, onion bargee was smaller and horrible, the curry tasted bland and it was EXTREMELY expensive in comparison with what we usually pay. The rice was about as good!!!!! We won’t be going back there again.

The quality was poor. Very tough lamb and salty. Expensive. The sauce and rice were excellent but did not make up for the meat.

Maybe they were supposed to be ‘subtle’. We were tempted in by the fabulous aromas that come out onto Priory Lane, but the experience proved to be similar to trying a pipe which emanates such a sweet smell but doesn’t have a similar taste. The tarka Dahl was watery; the curries were not greasy but we had to put a lot of salt on them to make them taste of anything at all. Under seasoned and under flavoured. Very disappointing. It was as though there was a tasty curry there and someone decided to chuck a load of water on and distil any flavour.

The Lalbagh continually puts up its prices at least twice a year. And you now have to be prepared to pay 'around' £20 per head!!!! In my opinion, it is now very expensive, but they do produce good food and service!!!!! Forced to save money, I now cut-out the popadoms & starters. I just choose a main, a side and a naan bread or rice. But this still equates to a whopping £15 plus!!!! And they will never ever throw in anything with compliments!!!! As a result, I can't afford to visit weekly as I have done over the past 20 years, once or twice a month is my limit now :(

Had been decorating all day, and really couldn’t be bothered cooking, This is our local Indian takeaway, and by far the best we have tried, Friendly staff, food freshly cooked and tastes delicious. Clean waiting area. Open kitchen which looks spotlessly clean. Definitely recommend.

Had a takeaway form the pre-ordred menu, absolutely gorgeous, had enough for almost two mealswith a few exrea Bhajis and Naans

I have been visiting the lalbagh for nearly 20yrs and never been disappointed until last night. The mains and the breads were superb as always but the kebab starters were very poor quality and noy at all value for money. Come on guys samosas and over cooked bhajis are just not kebabs.

I’ve been going to the lalbagh for multiple years now and I’ve never had a problem there food is the best I’ve ever had and the staff are nice especially the one on the phone and desk. I also have a Saver nut allergy so I must be weary when buying and eating curry. When placing my order I always say but free and they are fine with that and I’ve never had a problem and most importantly I feel safe when ordering and eating.

We probably get a takeaway from here every month or so. The starters are always delicious but the curries could be improved. There just isn’t enough flavour. On our last visit however we found the prices had changed. Not just 20p, 50p.... but £2 or £3 on some curries. The prices are now on a par, if not above restaurant prices. Almost £12 for a prawn tikka masala! I have noticed the price increase coincided with them now closing on Tuesdays. Clearly we are paying more now to enable them to close tuesdays!!

I can honestly say that this place is something Penwortham should be proud of. The main man is superb, coffee on arrival, food is top of its class and like eating from a high end Indian Restaurant every single time. I have been visiting since this place opened and it has never failed. A family favourite and something we look forward to when in the mood for a curry. Keep up the excellent work all.

The lamb was overcooked the rice was undercooked the roti was overcooked. The chicken was tender. You charge a premium for gourmet food but tonight we didn't get the gourmet food. Come on guys your reputation is everything.

Just had a takeaway from the Lalbagh for the first time in a few months, really fancied a curry this evening. Ordered a Chicken Tikka Palaka, something I'd never had before. Twenty minutes I was told, twenty minutes later i was on my way home with it. There was such a lot on my plate o thought I'd leave some for later, no chance, it was so good I finished it all. Whilst I quite often review a place I actually rang them to let them know how much I enjoyed my meal.

Had not tried the lalbach before but decided to give it a go. I orders prawn Bhuna and my partner had lamb korma. My partner enjoyed his lamb korma and said it was delicious but I found my prawn bhuna tasteless. There was no spices in it at all, it was literally mainly onions and very bland. Very disappointed

Take away curry. Called to ask if they could modify a balti, more tomatoes and more chili. Perfect 👌 😊 Cheers! Will be back!

Got recommended to give this place a try and boy am I glad I did. So much depth to the flavour of the food and easily better that their competitors.

The madras on a Saturday night is perfect thick & creamy but not to hot it’s very flavoursome with a deep savoury taste it’s nice with chicken tikka.

I won a mixed thali on a Facebook competition and wow! It was so good. All different dishes and sides that tasted really good. We've been going to the lalbagh every now and again for years. If they delivered we'd order every week. Thank you.

We used to go to the same people in sawston but it’s such a shame it closed down. So out to Bourn it is. Very good all round and a lovely setting. Worth the trip. Pani Puri on the tasting menu great and will do as a starter. Lamb cutlets are the best. Nan bread so light and delicious.

Free cup of coffee whilst you wait and lovely food very tasty. All cooked fresh in front of you. Well worth a visit 😊

I’ve not been to this takeaway for 5years or more. It was good then as it is now. Excellent food, excellent service. This will be my takeaway of choice when I’m in the Preston area.

I've been using this take away for several years and I've never been disappointed. The service is fantastic and always in time. The food is prepared and cooked in full view and the place is very clean. They have a passion for their curry dishes and the staff are keen to fully explain any dishes to you. The food is fresh and very tasty. The portions are generous and great for sharing. It's my curry take away of choice and I'll be back again very soon !

Visit this takeaway fairly regularly, never disappointed with the food or the welcome. After a hot day in the sun, we didn’t want a heavy meal. Just had a couple of starters, popadoms chutney & a mix Tandoori. We had as a picnic in the late afternoon sun.

Consistently great food. 5 star food hygiene rating and terrific service. No frills no freebies just really good food and lots of it. Only missing a delivery service - but well worth the trip - you'll be glad you collected instead of having second best delivered.

Honestly cannot recommend this place enough, the food is top quality and absolutely fantastic. The menu is wide ranging and always cooked to order it takes a good 30 minutes so plenty of time to nip across the road for a quick drink!

Creo que el cordero madras, cordero y pollo jalfrezi dopiaza son mis favoritas curris. Me gusta mucho la verdura pilau, sabe muy bien y te ahorra la necesidad de comprar otro plato de verdura. Los chapattis son un dedent tamaño también. La única cosa que me ligeramente bichos de este lugar es el hecho de que después de 5 años de leales a medida que nunca he dado una sola poppadum gratis y no entregar: (

Siempre usamos el Lalbagh, la comida es simplemente divina. Fácil de anillo y un pedido y nunca hemos tenido una mala comida de este lugar.

This is our favourite local Indian takeaway. We've always had great food and service here. They'll even make you a coffee whilst you wait. H excellent chicken Balti and saag dishes.

I really don't know why I should have gone in this takeaway, last time I went in was at least 5 years ago, it was so bad we threw the food away we we got it home. 5 years later I being Mr Stupid went.in again, it was worse than the last time I went in there. I opened the packages with the food in them when I got home. Onion bhajis were full of soggy batter, in the bin they went, the tandoori chicken very dry tasted of, in the bin they went all that was left was curry sauce and salad again in the bin. I won't wait 5 years to go again I'll never go again. All the food just kept warm for how many hours who knows. Keep away.

Lovely takeaway meal - shame they don't deliver as I would be more inclined to order from here more often. The food was lovely, piping hot and the customer service was great. Will happily return.

Ordered a couple of curries - chicken tikka masala and a Jaipuri. They were both excellent curries, full of flavour and left us wanting more. Wouldn't hesitate in going here again - best in the area we would say.

Chicken biryani was awful. It was basically boiled yellow rice with a few bits of chicken thrown in and an omelette on top? We ordered a hot sauce to go with it and instead with got a tasteless tomato sauce with random vegetables. We wouldn't bother with this place again.

This is a fantastic take-away, lovely staff who are friendly and very helpful and polite. Fantastic choice of Indian cuisine, extensive menu, very reasonably priced. I have been going for several years and the high standard of cooking has never changed. Everything is cooked to perfection from the papadoms to the nan bread, main meals to the large choice of starters. You will be stuck for choice. You will not be disappointed. Love it!!

We have been getting a takeaway from here since it opened. We always ring ahead and order it. The staff are friendly. The food is excellent and good value. There is plenty of chicken in the dishes. Highly recommended

Visited here on a number of occasions and take the food home 35 miles away!!! It really can't be beaten - the curry sauce is the best I've ever had and the chicken dishes are beautiful - a real must visit!

You can see the chef's cooking your food in spotless kitchen. You may wait a while at busy times, but it's worth the wait. As a brummie in the north I always used to tell my Northern mates that the restaurants and takeaways weren't as good as back home - until I came here. Great tastes, no crazy colouring and they even do half portions of the mains which is great when you want to try a few dishes.The lack of delivery service is the real reason we moved to within a few minutes walking distance (just don't tell my wife)...

We use Lalbagh regularly and it they never ever disappoints on quality or service. Delicious curries and sundries to choose from and great advice given if you're not sure what to order.

My favourite Indian by far. Service is excellent and very friendly. We order online and then collect at the time specified. The food outstrips all others and they always cater for my kids by changing ingredients to suit a younger palate. Top notch. Very impressed

Have used the Lalbagh for many years and have never been disappointed. Not the cheapest, but still competitive and you certainly taste the difference to cheaper options. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Would benefit from a delivery service but worth a trip out for good food.

If only I had been back in short pants, I could have used the rice in my old pea shooter as it was rock hard and basically uncooked. Waited ages for a takeout and was the only person in the building. Flavorless meal, small portion of meat and overpriced for what I got to take home. I most certainly will not be pulling in to stop here again. Nothing else to say except not good.

The quality of the food at the Lalbagh is of the highest standard, so much so we got them to cater for our daughters wedding and they provided not only epic curry, but top service to go with it!

We often get curry from here and are never disappointed with what we get, it is fairly priced and average 20 minute wait, we usually ring up and collect, and it is usually ready on time.

Recently attended a wedding where the afternoon catering was provided by the Lalbagh. It was excellent quality with plenty of meat in the chicken and lamb options while the vegetarian option was packed with good sized pieces of vegetable which had not turned to mush with over cooking. There was plenty to go round and even those who don't like spicy food thoroughly enjoying the flavours rather than just having your taste buds burned off. The staff from the Lalbagh delivered the food on time and were quite discrete as the guests only knew it had arrived when the aroma wafted outside to where they were mingling with the bride and groom.

Excellent food and always consistant, unlike nearby establishments. A little more expensive than others but you get what you pay for.
